Tadokoro Shokuhin

one of my favourite meals in Japan, it’s simple but so homey/cozey! the mom/aunts in the family are cooking the meal, son/father takes the order, and grandma is sitting at the stall selling roe 🥹 we came 3x during our 2 week trip. it’s a no fuss, inexpensive meal that fills up and leaves us so satisfies every time! definitely stop by and try their mentaiko, you can share a regular size/large, eat at the standing tables or sit if you’re ordering your own portion for ¥950-¥1200!

These small stalls lining up on the outer Tsukiji market many of them open very early and always full of mostly tourists but locals as well eating different kinds of food. On this visit I had the #3 spicy cod roe over rice with seasoning 700¥. Half way thru as recommended by store keepers (they do speak some English) I should pour the accompanied broth into the rice mixture to give it another dimension of taste. I had something similar in past visits at other eateries where I would pour a small pot of hot tea in the rice mixture. It's pretty good.

Salmon Roe Bowl wasn’t worth ¥1,800 at all. The male owner’s attitude doesn’t make it any better! He refused to let my wife and I have a seat at the counter despite our food orders.

tarako spaghetti was very good. Never had it with lemon, will be adding that whenever I make it now!

A surprise find! Delicious mentaiko pasta done well. Added ikura to my pasta and it was really yummy. Served with a small cup of dashi broth. Highly recommend!

I love me some Spicy Cod Roe Pasta and this is one you must not miss if you are here at the Tsukiji Outer Market. A simple pasta dish that is bursting all the yummy-ness of Mentai!! Make sure you order the Spicy one, amazing!!

We stopped here for onigiri. The wait was long but worth it. The onigiri was freshly prepared and very delicious. I would definitely come back here and try other dishes with the onigiri.
