"Cape Town’s Table Mountain National Park, which hugs the perimeter of the city, is so popular that the line for the cable car to the top can be longer than a queue for a Disneyland ride. But why stand in line when you can put your feet to use? There are several routes that lead to the top of the 3,562-foot, flat-topped mountain, including the two-mile Platteklip Gorge trail. Yes, it’s steep, but startling views of the city and the Atlantic await. Trek, get hungry, then picnic on local provisions—crackers, Dutch-style Gouda, and biltong , the thick-sliced South African jerky—before riding the cable car back down. By Afar Magazine"
Great views of the city and close up to table mountain. Some benches along the way for taking a break.

Stunning views of the city and Lions Head and Signal Hill. Lovely to take a long walk along the road .
Especially stunning in winter when the mountain is streaming down with waterfalls.
Can also be lucky to see some wildlife - a mongoose running past or a puffadder being released back into the wild.

Amazing road to walk on. Past the barriers, no cars are allowed. But be very careful as I have noticed lots of rock falls on the road. Do not venture alone after dark. Offers amazing views of the city. Just after rains, you will spot multiple big and small waterfalls, with water flowing through the road at many places.

Quiet away from Cape Town and breathtaking views. One of my favorite running routes - it’s just about 5km’s from the chain to the trail and back. Usually other runners etc mornings and evenings, and busy on Sunday. Safe for women during these hours, but would avoid walking/running etc on my own.
