Tagine at the Mirage is a must try if you’re staying in Dubai. The server was incredibly helpful in making recommendations, the atmosphere and decor were gorgeous, and I couldn’t have enjoyed the food more.
They start you off with two large loads of fresh baked bread and olives which are both quite good - itd be easy to fill up on just these as the server offered me more olives after I polished off the first bowl.
Then the server recommended their chicken pastilla as an appetizer. I was skeptical about a savory pastry with cake icing on it but man was I wrong - imagine the flakiest phyllo dough with an incredibly well seasoned chicken - egg mixture inside that has just a slight pang of sweetness to it. Very delicious
Next came the lamb tagine which was fantastic - the meat itself was so tender and well seasoned, and the vegetables that came with it were quite fresh. At this point you might be rather full but you can’t go wrong with a dessert here - Jawhra came highly recommended from the server, and again I was on the fence as I’m not a huge fan of rose water. But the delicate balance of just a touch of the stuff in the layers of pastry cream on top of the dried fruits and tiers of phyllo dough had me eating my words (and all of the dessert).
All in all it was a fantastic experience , the music and decor really gives you the vibe of being in a Moroccan tea house, and the food couldn’t have exceeded expectations more.
