Google
Savannah provided fantastic service and recommendations. Great atmosphere on the patio. The vegetables special of the day with the honey roasted Brussels sprouts was so good and the beet salad was so fresh. If you are looking for a fun and relaxing evening out this is great place to go.

We enjoyed our dinner here, the food is well made and pretty good. I had the Ahi Carpaccio which was delicious but just not a filling portion for me, although that’s fine for a late dinner. The Mai Thai’s are really good! The servers are warm and friendly, and efficient. The singer on the night we went wasn’t exactly my taste, I think either I’m tone deaf or the singer is, who knows. I’m sure they’ve brought better singers other nights.

Tahiti Nui offers a relaxed dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating. One of the (not so) unique features of this restaurant is the presence of chickens roaming freely around the premises. While it may seem unusual, it adds to the overall vibe of the place and doesn't bother the diners. We opted for indoor dining due to the hot weather and were pleased to find a bar inside as well. The service was fast and friendly, which was a great bonus. My friend and I decided to try the Nui Burger, a hearty creation featuring a 1/2 lb premium beef patty, bacon, cheddar, gorgonzola, mushroom, crispy onion, lettuce, tomato, and onion. It comes with regular fries, but my friend opted for tsunami fries. The tsunami fries were definitely the highlight of the meal. They were delicious. The burger itself was good, but the beef patty was a bit cold. And the bun felt a bit dry, which was a minor drawback. Overall, the Nui Burger was a decent choice but a little expensive for what you get.

Google
Great atmosphere and excellent food, with several gluten free options (not just salad). The macademia nut crusted chicken with mashed purple sweet potatoes was delicious, and the lilikoi cheesecake was to die for. My wife got a gf cauliflour crust pizza with pineapple, kalua pork, and ham, with vegan cheese. They were having a New Year's Eve party, with a cover charge, but we didn't stay, as it seemed more for locals and we were tired from a day at the beach. But it seemed to be a happening place.

Google
This was a great spot to eat ! It always had a line of people - especially around dinner time . We had dinner here on our first night at the island . The service was great and our waitress was awesome! The food was pretty good too ! Nice atmosphere. The coconut shrimp was good - the veggies were a little salty but extra rice will do the trick . The purple mash was amazing - the fish was undercooked but overall still good 👍

Google
Absolute delight to celebrate our anniversary here! We tried the famous MaiTai. I had the fish encrusted with coconut, lime, and cilantro cream sauce. A must when visiting Kauai!

Google
Really great place to eat at and/or drink at! We sat in the back bar area while they were having karaoke and it did not disappoint! The bartender was super chill, friendly, and extremely attentive. We had the hawaiian pizza (very delicious) and a couple cocktails (highly recommend their maitai). The atmosphere, I'd forsure give it a 10/10.

Google
drinks are fun, hit happy hour for Mai Tai's... they have a couple of cute cats that will laser guilt you into submission 😻

Yelp
This was our first stop in Kauai and it set a high bar! Word to the wise, get the Mai tai. But don't get more than two Savannah was fabulous and attentive. The patio was perfect and the food was divine. In my opinion, the coconut shrimp was the star of the show, but it truly was all so yummy. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had high hopes as The Descendants is one of my favorite movies. Started off badly when I put our names down using the QR code. We got a message that we were first in line and to reply "1" to confirm. We did that but got no response. about 15 minutes later I went up to the hostess and showed her that we already put our names down etc. She said, oh yes, that's weird, asked us to put our names down again, but then put us in the back of the line! I had to complain to the manager, who pretty effortlessly sat us immediately, so I don't know what all that attitude was about from the hostess. We just had drinks (Mai Tai $18!!) and dessert. The drinks were good, the desserts were middling. And we were seated outside the main area, so didn't have the experience I was hoping for. I can't say i will want/ need to go back.

Yelp
After a day at the beach we were starving and looking for a place that had options for the entire family. We ran across Tahiti Nui and decided to give it a shot. We were greeted by a friendly host and waited until a table was ready. Once we were finally seated at a tiny table we were excited to order and finally get some food. There was a local band playing music while we looked over the menu. All three of us decided on the pizzas, one with no cheese, one with vegan cheese, and one regular pizza. It was nice that they had some vegan options and with a slight modification the pizza is also vegan. The pizza was good and really hit the spot. The prices were a bit high but what can you do, it's Hawaii. Overall we enjoyed the restaurant and would go back again.

Yelp
Had a small pizza and it was delicious. Fresh ingredients and you could tell it was cooked in a fire brick oven. Our waitress was friendly and quick. The bar/restaurant was has been around for a while and there were pictures and decorations that brought Kauai alive. You know the food is good because you need to get there early

Yelp
I had made a reservation for 7:30 pm on a Friday, and upon arrival, we had to wait for about 10-15 minutes to receive our table which was absolutely fine with us. Our server was exceptional and took great care in accommodating my allergies. I decided to order a Mai Tai, and while it was delicious, it was a bit too sweet for my liking. As for the main dish, it was incredibly tasty! Despite having to remove the macadamia crust due to my allergies, the flavor of the fish was still perfect. The purple mashed potatoes and sauce were absolutely amazing and packed with flavor. For dessert, our server recommended the cheesecake, and oh boy, it was delicious. We ended up finishing every last bite of it! They had live music which added to the fun! The musician was really good!

Yelp
We stoped by during the happy hour and i was so glad we did. We got in for the $10 happy hour Mai Tai, 3-5pm, which are the best in my opinion because I was on a mission trying them at different locations. Our server was amazing. She was very welcoming, nice, and made it a point to chat with us and offer some suggestions. She checked on us often and made sure our drinks were never empty. I went for the Hawaiian pizza with the pork option which I highly recommend. It is a 10 inch pizza, good for two people or a large appetite after the beach. The cheese pull on this was incredible. I loved every bite. My husband went with one of her recommendations which was the Ahi Carpaccio with bread. This was amazing and I highly recommend this too. My husband keeps talking about it. This restaurant definitely give us the Hawaii vibe with Hawaiian hospitality. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Every time we come to Kauai we must have dinner here. Classic Hawaii is the vibe here and time is standing still which all comes together with great food, drink, service and live music make this place epic by my standards. Make reservations inside by the bar and live music area you don't want to miss.
google avatar

Eric J.

Yelp
The menu was a bit limited the night we visited, but the pizza was excellent. It's a homemade thick crust, similar to Mellow Mushroom in CONUS. The toppings and sauce were very satisfying on their personal-sized pizzas.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this spot. Great food. Great service. Great ambience and great cocktails. Fresh food, nicely prepared and served.

Yelp
There aren't a ton of restaurants to choose from on Kuhio Hwy. You can't go wrong with the few to choose from. Avoid the overly hyped and $$$ at "The Dolphin" and you can just about go anywhere and get great food and a great atmosphere. Tahiti Nui is one of those reasonably priced, great food, and awesome service restaurants that won't disappoint you! Get some tiki-styled drinks and eat some great food. The service is fun and inviting and not pretentious - they just want you to enjoy your food and your visit to Hawaii! There are vegan options too!
google avatar

Kelley P.

Yelp
The older host lady was rude. Other than that everything else was great. I think our server was Chrystal. She was really good and helpful! Carpaccio was the best thing we had. The chocolate crème brûlée was super burnt to the point where we couldn't eat it. We will try it again at some point.
google avatar

Yelp
Went there for lunch we had a group of 7 and at first they told us it would be a 20 mins wait but they will text us when the table opens. We got a text saying you have no wait list, so we went back and the hostess told us sorry you cancelled your reservation? We told her no we didn't and she said funny she got a bunch of cancellations. Then she says sorry, but she gave away our table and we need to wait 20 mins for the next opening. After waiting we finally got a table which was a plastic picnic table for 5 to 6 people to sit, but they decided to give us that table which was very tight were you are sitting shoulder to shoulder with who ever is next to you. My Niu Burger was very good except if you don't like Gorgonzola cheese better to let them know to leave it out. My wife loved the calamari it was very tasty and crispy and the sauce was very good. The sheared so Ono with wasabi sauce was done perfectly and the wasabi wasn't over powering it was just right and delicious. We had an assortment of dessert from the chef it was all delicious we had a Lilikoi cheesecake, pineapple upside down cake, carrot cake, and Tiramisu.

Yelp
Yes,yes and yes! Today up in the corner, I noticed Guy Fieri's logo! Not sure when he dropped in but, my first visit was 1991. That first experience here was significant for a number of reasons. Fortunately I got to see Kauai before hurricane Iniki hit the islands. Less than a year after my visit the most powerful hurricane to strike Kauai in recorded history wiped out a significant portion of its visible history. A lot of the destruction was on the north side of the island not far from here. Fortunately,32 years later I am able to roll into Tahiti Nui after a long hike on the Kalalau trail and order the same Mai Tai I had the first time.... predictability is good sometimes . I remember that rainy October day I 1981 when I sate on the porch looking at the mountains. An occasional car drove by and as I remember, only a few people in the place. Jump forward to 2023 and the area looks like an ant farm...traffic,people and all that comes with that. However, kudos to Tahiti Nui for holding its own and with only a couple of changes...it's same same as it has been for decades One of the good changes? The food may be better than ever. Ahi carpaccio, Coconut Crusted Ono, Coconut shrimp.....all I can say is,if you're on Kauai.... Go!
google avatar

Skipp E.

Yelp
Everything was great. The kale Cesar salad was simple and tasty, and the tofu dish was really good. Crispy and the sauces were perfect for it. The pizza (gluten free crust) was really good as well We finished it off with the lily koi poi cheesecake....and it was excellent. I'm not a huge sweets person, but this desert was well balanced for sure. To add they had nice live Local music and hula dancing while we ate. The atmosphere was really cozy

Yelp
We had the Mac coconut crusted Mahi Mahi and the Ahi Soy Wasabi and the pulled pork Bbq sandwich. Everything was so good! Service was friendly and hardly had to wait. Coconut pie at the end was a treat three of us shared. Ambiance was chill, relaxed and a nice musician to entertain us. Definitely recommend this place when on the North Shore of Kauai.
google avatar

Sue S.

Yelp
The "World Famous" Mai Tai was nothing special so I was disappointed. The food was twice as much as the restaurant next door. We drank our Mai Tais and had dinner at Kalypsos.

Yelp
Visiting fr Oahu and had never been before. Lots to like here!! I was surprised how much I liked the pizza. Also surprised that we got in and were seated so quickly. Everyone was very nice including our server Savannah, who was very patient with us and efficient. She had good suggestions and it was a nice, relaxing experience. Highly recommend to go during happy hour for $10 Mai Tais. Best to go early, the online waitlist doesn't open up until opening time at 3 but they took customers in order as they were in line in person. Parked across the street. Good restrooms, prices were reasonable and about what you would expect for the area. We might make it back one evening for the live music.

Yelp
We were in two minds going in and wanted to go to another spot across the road. But we got here and I had a good time! Their mai tais are good! I ordered their mushroom ravioli from the vegetarian options and loved it. My husband ordered a poke, it was good but a bit incomplete with absolutely no accompaniments - didn't feel like an entree. It was a busy evening and the service was a little slow. We got seats on the bar, because it was faster.
google avatar

Ralph J.

Yelp
The portion of the Ribs was Half a Rack 6 ribs! But they were delicious. The honey shrimp was awesome. Mai Tai's and margs good too. Service was spot on , cool Hawaii vibe and ambiance
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
Great cocktail list! This place does get busy and service is a little spotty for mainlanders. It's good when you get it, but it's definitely not quick...even at the bar. Food menu looks pretty good, although we were just here for cocktails. Decorations are super cool and the vibe is exactly what you would expect it to be.

Yelp
Delicious food, casual ambiance with lube music were the high points of our visit to Tahiti Nui. We came in without prior reservations, and were seated after a ~15 min wait. Being one of the few places in Hanalei that serves dinner until 9pm, it does get packed. We got the soy wasabi tuna with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and the coconut crusted mahi mahi with a side of purple sweet potatoes, both of which were absolutely delicious! They were busy, but the service was mediocre, the low point being handed over our check without being asked if we'd like any dessert! Oh well! Calories saved, I guess! Prices reflect the premium that you'd expect to pay on an island, but the food makes it well worth it.
google avatar

Heidi W.

Yelp
We came for the mai tai and it was worth it. Our servers energy was so positive and happy and she helped us with what to order. The ahi carpaccio was so yummy. And the pizza was ok but the homemade daily crust was the best part. If you're in town for the days they have the luau and want an authentic experience I would do that! Also closed on Saturdays!
google avatar

Ellen C.

Yelp
My Ribeye bathed in a wonderful gorgonzola sauce, while my husband's macadamia crusted fish was marlin instead of Ono he liked the curry sauce and sweet potato mash were quickly gobbled up! Festive ambiance, friendly service, will be back! Oh and the virgin mai tai was a big hit!

Yelp
June 2023 Stopped in for a meal nearby. Wait was a bit to get in but we caught a table just outside the bar. Live music was playing which was lovely. Service helped with any questions we had, water and drink refills infrequent but the place was quite busy. My partner ordered the ahi poke chips, I had gotten the beet the heat salad and a mushroom ravioli. And of course, some mai tais to boot. The ahi poke chips were good portion wise. Flavors were good and it didn't feel overly sauced. The beet the heat was simple with a good balance between the ingredients. The dressing had a light sweetness to it. Spinach might've married it better together as a green though. The ravioli were cooked well and had a good earthy taste to it. I definitely wanted more sauce to go along with it though. The mai tais tho, those were on point and well balanced. Good local place to check out not too far from Princeville. Parking could be a little rough but there was a decent amount in back behind the restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Mai Tai on the Island! Food and drink was fantastic hands down. Service was a little apathetic feeling. This is a tourist spot and you felt it. Ambiance was great. It's one of the oldest restaurants on Kauai and the heritage vibe is thick. We went 10 years ago on our honeymoon and now for our anniversary. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Located in a cute little town in Hanalei, Kauai. It truly has the Hawaiian ambiance and the servers are so friendly. The food...amazing! We had the keiki's cheeseburger and fries, mushroom poke bowl, coconut shrimp, zesty coconut crusted fish, and the PB&J bacon cheeseburger. I was intrigued by the PB&J being on the burger, but you know what... it works!
google avatar

Yelp
Great authentic Polynesian bar and restaurant. We did the luau on Tuesday and it was wonderful. Intimate and interactive, you feel like you're part of the family. Food was delicious. I especially love the Kaluia Pork, ceviche and their famous Mai Tais. We came back on the weekends and they had live music. The guys were fun and talented. We had a great time!

Ronald T.

Yelp
Would give zero if we had the option. Got there a few minutes early. Staff said come back at 3pm. Got there at 3.05pm walked to the bar and staff said we are not ready we will seat everybody but we are not ready yet. Humm, you had from 1pm to 3pm to get ready and you still can't open on time. It's a freaking bar. We should have been able to at least sit down but was told to wait outside . Decided to meet our 12 other friends at kalypso down the street . DRINKS were awesome service was fast and great. Don't waste your time at an establishment that promotes bad customer Service. Got to Kalypso right down the street

Yelp
Our visit here was a special sort of bad. We were "lucky" enough to get a table with only a short wait. Things started well. Got our drink and food order in quickly. Drinks came pretty soon after. We sipped our drinks as we waited. And waited. Waitress returned once early on to offer one of the four of us another drink. He'd only drank a little over half and declined for the moment. Then we sat... All four of us finished drinks. No offer for another, or mention of the food coming soon. Once our Waitress topped off waters then bolted without a word. Food finally came, maybe 45 min after ordering. No offer of another round of drinks. No check in to ask how it was... Which would have been nice since two of the three entrees were wrong. The burger had extra ingredients (and our picky eater was less than pleased). The pizza we ordered didn't have visible toppings, but we quickly checked the menu and realized it wasn't the one we'd ordered. We ate it anyway... Though wrong and salty to a point of being pretty nasty. Finally finished eating... No Waitress. Couldn't even get the check to leave. Finally had to waive down another employee, as our Waitress wouldn't even come near us (did serve other tables still during this period). Finally got our check and a box for the uneaten food. No clue what we did, but the service felt intentionally bad by the end. Fully ignored. We knew they were busy and didn't make a scene, but... I'd find a better place to eat. Literally anywhere else.

Yelp
Absolute delight to celebrate our anniversary here! We tried the famous MaiTai. I had the fish encrusted with coconut, lime, and cilantro cream sauce. A must when visiting Kauai!

Yelp
A must do in Hanalei. Great Mai Tais and lots of gluten free and other allergen friendly options on the menu. The service is excellent and we love the live music. We miss their late night hours but it's a must visit when we go to the island. The Descendants was filmed here for the movie buffs.

Yelp
Hawaiian Pizza in Hawaii We dined at the famous @tahitinuihanalei when we were in Kauai and the experience was...lacklustre. The highlight of our meal was definitely the Hawaiian Pizza with Kaulua pork, and the PB & J Bacon Burger. The pizza dough was perfectly proofed, resulting in a super airy crust, and the pineapples paired really well with the Kalua pork. We ordered the PB & J burger out of curiosity, but it was surprisingly delicious! The beef patty was really juicy, and the peanut butter actually complimented the beef flavour super well. The rest of the food, however, was quite forgettable. I ordered their famous Mai Tai and was unable to drink more than two sips because it was so sweet. Both fish dishes that we ordered were on the dry side, and the sauces were kind of flavourless in my opinion. The rib eye steak was also not very memorable. Macadamia crusted coconut chicken was really moist, but was just a deep fried chicken katsu that had no coconut flavour. The food here wasn't bad by any means, it just...wasn't impressive? We lucked out and didn't have to wait for a table, but if we had gone during a busy time and had to wait, I think I would've been pretty mad about this meal. Service was really good, and food came out fast. I would stop by again for the pizza and PB & J burger if there's no line, otherwise I'd skip on this spot. 5/10 10/10 $$ (approx. $15-$28USD/dish) Tahiti Nui | 5122 Kuhio Hwy, Hanalei, HI 96714, United States

Yelp
So terribly disappointed!!! The hostess didn't say there were kitchen problems and the server wasn't clear about the kitchen's situation. We reviewed the menu and when ordering found they didn't have any fried food!! What? That's a huge part of their menu!! We should have left then. My husband and I ordered hamburgers with only sides available...a scoop of sweet potatoes (cold and only first bite was good) or white rice (boring)!! Menu said side salad was $8 but charged $9. It was lettuce and a couple tomatoes. No way wouldn't ever go back or recommend this place. Heard from friends that it has gone down hill, and we certainly agree!!
google avatar

Lori W.

Yelp
We have lived here 5 years but hadn't made it to this luau. We have done the Sheraton, Gaylords & Smiths. This is very intimate compared to all 3. We live north so HUGE bonus that it is close to home and not driving 3 hours round trip. Food was good! Excellent tofu & rice pudding. We will be back with our next guests. Mahalo!
google avatar

Peggy B.

Yelp
We stopped as part of a food tour and had a sampling that included coconut crusted Ahi. Fantastic! Killer Mai Tai's!

Yelp
Best New Years Eve experience. Best Mai Tai ever. So much fun. Live entertainment and best fireworks show at midnight. If you are ever in HANALEI Hawaii.
google avatar

Jeanie N.

Yelp
Fries and coconut shrimp 5 stars. Definitely worthy of a stop after hanging out at the beach or if just driving by Cocktails including mai tai were good too!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing service and the food was delicious. Everything was on point. Waitress even noticed I didn't like my drink and fixed it without me saying anything. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
A great local spot in Hanalei for good food, drink, and live music entertainment. The artists were amazing and certainly added to the whole experience. Stopped by on Thanksgiving and it was packed!! I ordered the Rib Eye Bowl and the meat was cooked perfectly. It was a hearty dish that left you wanting more after each bite. It is a cool atmosphere on the inside and outside. Service was a bit slow but to be expected with the busy holiday. They've got great live music and good happy hour deals. Certainly worth stopping by during your time in Hanalei.
google avatar

Lorenzo K.

Yelp
I can hear on a Wednesday night. I tried the award winning Mai Tai even though I usually don't like rum. They were actually really good. I had 3 of them! The pizza was very good as well! The best part of my visit was the ambiance. The live music was good and made this an excellent place for food, drinks, and good vibes!

Raeann M.

Yelp
Great food and excellent service!! Loved sitting outside as well! Will definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
Expensive but worth it tropical mixed drinks. They add more shots of alcohol and charge more so it's a good deal. The drinks were really good and the ambiance is fun too.

Yelp
This restaurant is located about 10 minutes from Princeville. We came late and without reservations on a Friday. We sat in the back where there was a bar and Karaoke. I had the Mediterranean Salad and pasya of the day, which was Mushroom ravioli (and added chicken). Both were delicious!!! I was tempted to order another salad to go. I loved it! We ordered food at the bar along with drinks. I had the Lilikoi Martini drink, which was good. My boyfriend ordered a Pele's Passion drink and he liked the Jalopenos. It was a fun atmosphere, especially watching the karaoke singers.
google avatar

Liesl M.

Yelp
Fun ambiance. Our first round I ordered an Espresso Martini. It was tasty but it needed to be served colder, it was almost room temperature in my glass. My husband out ordered me with the great mai tai's (as seen in the Wall Street Journal). We had another round and both had the Mai Tai. No surprise but service was a little slow. We didn't eat food only had a few drinks.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Service wonderful, fries wonderful, Mai Tai wonderful. Coconut Shrimp nope. Coconut Shrimp was chewy and extremely gressy not good. The only reason for my score is The Coconut Shrimp Our waitress was wonderful, offered another option and removed the Shrimp from our bill.
google avatar

Travis C.

Yelp
Got in right when they opened. Was told about this joint by multiple locals. Glad we made the trip to the North side to try it out. We were told the best Mai Thai in the world. Two of these Mai Thai's will put you on your bum bum. Wife ordered the coconut margarita ended up getting three. Started an appetizer Coconut shrimp was very good and tasty. The keokeo pizza is delicious with the Gorgonzola cream sauce was epic. I got the Nue burger was fresh cooked medium pretty basic just a burger. Kinda expensive but everywhere on the island is expensive so sometimes you just need to treat yourself. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing service! I got the macnut crusted ono which was excellent. My mom got the pulled pork sandwich which was very juicy.

Yelp
A rare 5 star review for me. Took my wife here after a fun day at Secret Beach. WOW! The service was excellent as well as the food and cocktails. We were not disappointed at all! We sat outside and had an excellent view of the mountains and aside from the occasional car passing by the road there were not really any distractions or reasons to complain. What I really like about this place is how much the chef seems to care about the food served and it shows in his/her preparation. I've eaten at a lot of places over the many years and the presentation, taste and quality of the menu were top notch. Well done.
