⸻ We stayed for 2 nights, and during that time there was no hot water in the room, even though we reported it to the front desk. They said they would send a technician, but nothing changed, and we had to take cold showers. On top of that, the room wasn’t very clean, especially the bathroom. It had a terrible moldy smell, and it was unpleasant to take a shower there. The furniture was old, and the room didn’t feel cozy. The only things we liked were the location and the food at the restaurant, which was delicious.

The rooms look just like they’re advertised. I think “boutique” is a stretch, but just older furniture. The room was clean and there was no smell. The staff was friendly and helpful. I requested towels twice and they were delivered within 3-5 min both times. The area is convenient to just about everything. We were minutes away from all of our touring. (Right next door to chick fil a too so that was a bonus for a quick meal when we arrived). we weren’t bothered by anyone and had a good stay.

I am a patient of Florida Orthopedic Institute, which is a 4minute drive up the road. The hotel is older, but I have now spent 5 nights there on 4 different occasions. The rooms are very clean. The sheets are sparkling white, and the staff is helpful. There has been no musty smell in any of the rooms and the bathtubs/shower, while dated worked perfectly, had great water pressure and the bath was very clean, unlike many big chains we have stayed in over the last year. As a bonus, chick fil a is right next door. ||On checking out this morning, we were told a remodel is planned for this summer. When I called to make my next reservation, the clerk saw how much I have stayed, thanked me, and made sure to give me the military discount, without my asking. I always book directly. I never use the discount sites, I want to support our small, locally run establishments.

This spot was disgusting! I do not recommend. I walked in, tried to sleep there but it was so nasty. Staff was very nice and understanding, did not take it personal. Very out dated and not like the pictures. There were flies in the bathroom, counter top was dirty, beds were very questionable. Did not literally stay for more than 30 minutes , I could not. It was very concerning.

I really love that hotel, it's super cute. Everyone is really nice , kind to you and professional. It's walking distance from many tasty food places and even a supermarket. I love Tahitan Inn! That pool is so gorgeous and beautifully decorated in Tiki style, i see so many people doing a party there, the pictures are probably gorgeousthe rooms are new and very clean. My work is so stressful but i always relax so well at Tahitan Inn

We were charged an extra $50 just to check in an hour early. Front desk personnel wasn’t too friendly. The room was disgusting. It was moist?? Like it felt worse inside than it did outside. The bathroom was gross. We never had hot water and the temperature would change every few seconds while you’re showering. The only good thing about this motel was the location, it’s conveniently located near good food places, things to do, etc. but I absolutely would never stay here again.

I booked a room at this hotel for $177 for one night. The room smelled like mold. The walls was dirty, the baseboards were very nasty. The furniture in this hotel was old and outdated. The phone in the room was old and nasty. After looking into the bathroom the tub was old with molded shower curtains and the toilet had small bugs crawling on it. I went into the office to speak with the lady at the desk and she said it was nothing she could do about the way the room was set up. The conditions of this room was a horrible. The smell was unbearable to mankind. I definitely regret wasting money at the hotel. I ended up booking another room at a different hotel. This hotel is a waste of money. I would advise people to look at the room before you lose your money because they will not refund your money for the nasty stay.

This is a nice boutique hotel in South Tampa off Dale Mabry with quick access to 275. My wife and I arrived in Tampa a night early thinking that it would not be an issue to get a room, but were in for a surprise when every hotel was booked up, throughout Tampa, St Pete and 30+ miles in each direction due to Spring Training. After a rough night and an early call to the Tahitian Inn, with fingers crossed and letting them know about our rough night, we were told that they could not make any promises for an early check in, but they would call and let us know if our room was available early. Sure enough around 11/12pm we got the call advising we could check in early! Customer service was amazing, accommodating understanding and went above and beyond to get us into our room earlier than normal check in. Too tired to check out the pool :/ Thanks again to the staff for everything!

Yelp
I'm not sure what kind of situation all these people writing 1 star reviews had. I stayed for four nights and my experience was as follows: The room was quiet and clean. Internet worked fine. The front desk staff was nice but they do lock the doors after a certain hour (10 PM or so). If you use your key, you can still get in. I had a little balcony which only looked out to the parking lot, but I enjoyed it since I came here in January from Chicago. It's not a modern place and it's not upscale. I would not expect that for the price I paid. I didn't love the diner downstairs but I don't eat pork, therefore my breakfast options are limited. The location is good in my opinion. I would stay here again and actually intend to next time I come to Tampa.

Yelp
Called Monday night before I came in on Tuesday night. Asked for an end room second floor for quiet. Jose said yes. Get in Tuesday. Room not available. Even Jose thought it was. He wondered: "Who gave it away?!" So he tries to find me something quiet. The next morning? Construction outside my room. I spoke to Linda and tell her i was promised a quiet room and she gives me a line that Jose probably picked the room over the end room because blah blah blah which I know is bull because he told me he reserved me the end room. I ask her more than once: Is construction over? Will I hear anything tomorrow or Friday? She said: "No. Absolutely not." I wake up at 8 am to construction on Friday. I call her. She argues with me and is a smartass about it while saying: "The construction probably isn't even here." Im like, "You have two parking spots being taken up by a guy doing power saw work in your driveway." Returned home that day and the guy is still using the buzz saw! Imagine if I wanted to enjoy the pool or my room or work from there all day?? They didn't even warn people and that's sneaky. Then when I talk to Linda, she lies to me?? The first two days I left late morning to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was just an isolated incident. Wrong. Linda was rude. I don't think she liked being proven wrong. Horrible at customer service. And just created her own truths. I said i want to be reimbursed for just one night (even though there were three full days of construction work). She said "I can do that." But I see my credit card statement after I leave and not only did they charge me for every night, but they added $100 that was probably a deposit when I checked in which they never reversed. Oh and when I first called her to say, "Didn't you tell me there would be no more construction?" She calls me back when im trying to sleep after being woken up after working all night which I had just told her! And I hear them banging away in the room below me too. She lied to me. I didn't even want to deal with this character. She should not be the GM. She should learn what true customer service is. I just put up with what a dump the place is and left. Nice cleaning people but didnt come in once especially on the days i didnt have 'do not disturb' sign on all day.

Yelp
Criminal hotel. I showed up late for my 2-day Hotwire reservation. They told me directly the reservation was canceled and the 2nd night refunded. LIE! I went ahead and re-purchased the night based on them stating that night was being refunded. Now trying to find the refund and the hotel claims they never said it was refunded and Hotwire is only too happy to leave the charge. Paid for 3 nights, got one. Lying hotel, lying managers, and I won't rest until I get my refund. AVOID the Tahitian Inn. AVOID Hotwire. Both are determined to lie and cheat you out of your money and don't care if you relay a rational, reasonable set of events if they can earn a couple bucks off cheating you. STAY AWAY and don't use Hotwire!

Yelp
The Tahitian Inn desperately needs an update. They've recently started calling it a "boutique" hotel without any of the amenities and thoughtful touches of a boutique hotel. I decided to stay here because I love old Florida style, nostalgic motels, and boutique hotels. Check-in went smoothly. The staff member who helped me was very nice. I had a second-floor Cabana Room (double with two queen beds) overlooking the pool. Immediately upon entering the room, there was a musty smell. It wasn't a smell related to lack of cleanliness, but of age and neglect. The room was clean for the most part, but depressing, dark, and drab. There was a six-drawer dresser that looked like the same one I had in my childhood bedroom in the 1980s, a worn arm chair, a small fridge that was not clean, coffee maker (also not clean), and microwave in addition to the two queen beds. The closet area had an iron and ironing board. I did not use either. This was a one-night stay with my dog in between other travels, so all I really wanted was a comfortable bed and nice shower. The Wi-Fi was slow, but I didn't have to work during my stay, so I didn't care that much. I normally do work when I travel and the Wi-Fi would have been inadequate for that. The beds had scratchy, poor quality sheets. (Hotel management, I have a tip! Amazon Basics makes inexpensive sheets that are comfortable!) The mattresses themselves were old (maybe early 2000s?), with squeaky and unsubstantial box springs. I slept two hours and a few minutes, according to my sleep app. I woke up with a backache. I went to make a cup of coffee and found that the carafe and filter basket were dirty. I decided to get coffee at a coffee shop instead. The shower was clean, had plenty of hot water, and although very dated it was totally workable. Like the sheets, the towels were cheap quality and scratchy. It wasn't the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. It was the second-worst. Pay $20-40 more and stay at Hotel Haya (a true boutique hotel) or Hotel South Tampa and Suites (just down the street from the Tahitian Inn, and similar price, but comfy beds, clean and updated rooms, free breakfast, and good Wi-Fi.)

Yelp
Not good! Old rooms, noisy bad furniture bathroom is a disgrace. This hotel needs serious work to get it presentable.

Yelp
We stayed here because the hotels near the Straz were all booked. Typically if we are going out to a show or for an event we just get a hotel in the area so we can drink and not drive. Anyway, the Tahitian is a motel that has been around for a long time and has a good breakfast diner inside so I decided to book here. Front desk staff was great at check in and check out. We actually got upgraded to a suite because the room they originally were sending us to had been taken because someone made a room change. As you can see by the pictures, it isn't bad. It is clean. However, I don't know if you can tell that 3 of the 4 lights are out in the track light. The scones in the entry way each have a light out, one of the locks on the front door is broken and the lock in the slider is not there. Also, there is no fire alarm. We didn't notice a couple of those things until the morning but didn't complain the night before because we were heading to a show and lights out wouldn't really impact us at night. My husband did tell the front desk person in the morning and show her his pics. The manager is supposed to call us. She did tell us the maintenance man just died so that may be the issue. The tiki bar is open now and the pool looks nice so that would be a plus. Overall it was an ok stay that served its purpose but if the hotels we usually stay at are booked we will either uber from our house in the next county or just not have any drinks.

Yelp
I'm extremely dissatisfied with this hotel . My TV didn't work, employees don't know the difference between the rooms the appohlstrey on the chair was filthy had to put towels on it so I didn't have to sit on the filth. George did his best to help me and is an asset to your team. TheSpanish clerk on the morning shift also was very dedicated to customer satisfaction. Unfortunately the clerk that's on now at 5 pm is completely incompetent extremely unprofessional and worst yet a liar . No where on line or my invoice is there a request for a deposit. When I got to the hotel for check-in this clerk redid my reservation and created a new invoice in my wife's name. In doing so a $100 deposit was charged to my account. There was no mention of it from the clerk nor anything in writing on the new invoice went over it with a fine tooth comb . When deposits are required by a hotel it's taken upon arrival and is presented in writing during the booking process in addition when a deposit is taken it's a separate invoice than the one which is for the hotel stay. Now I was left with no money to have dinner with . This was supposed to be a special trip for my wife's birthday. It's been nothing other than a huge disappointment to us both. Before I raised my voice to the clerk I asked her why wasn't I informed of the deposit she had no answer for me then she said the clerk that checked us in was responsible for it . That's when I became loud informing her that she checked us in and redid the invoice in my wife's name. She told me right to my face that she had not done so. What a shock to be a lie right to my face , then I made her provide me with the new invoice that proved that she indeed redo the invoice and check in . I'm totally disgusted with her actions she does not represent this hotel in a good light. I can deal with wrong rooms but will not tolerate being lied to by an incompetent clerk representing your hotel. I can tell you my review of the hotel and my stay will reflect my treatment and stay at the hotel which I canassure you will be a negative review . Only thing this hotel has going for it is George and the morning clerk and the morning manager. At checkout the manager Linda chastised me for my interactions with her employee didn't deny getting loud and I explained that I wasn't used to hotel clerks lying to my face and denying that they checked me when she was the only one there . They are not held to a high standards of customer service or satisfaction. Linda the manager who I actually liked made excuses for all the problems I had during my stay and couldn't explain why there was no mention or written explanation that the hotel required a deposit anywhere, in addition I was standing next to another couple who wasn't aware of the deposit until he used his atm card and got his balance it was only then that he learned about the deposit and addition to that he was only charged$50 and was very unhappy he wasn't informed of it and was told it would take 3 to 5 days to get back even though I was told it would be released back to my account when I checked out. As far as professionalism the clerk that checked me out was wearing a durag or skull cap that thugs and gangbangers wear with a zip up camouflage sweatshirt totally unprofessional . No concessions where made for all the problems that we incurred nothing at all to make us ever go back

Yelp
Was charged a smoking fee once I called to find out about my cash app refundable deposit for the room. I spoke to the manager who said in 30 days I'd get it back. After 30 days I called only to be informed that I was "smoking in the room" that's why I didnt get refunded. I absolutely was not and I know for sure I was targeted because I used a cash app card and they will not dispute charges like a bank or credit card company would. Do not stay at this hotel. Also it's a catfish. Got a room that looked nothing like advertised.

Yelp
My fiancée wanted to add this preface to the review, since she was excited about bringing me to this hotel on my first visit to Tampa: "I grew up around the corner from here in the 80s and 90s, going to the Tahitian cafe for breakfast sometimes. Now when I come back to Tampa to visit my family (since about 2001), I have always stayed here. It's an institution!! It has fluctuated in quality over the years but...this is a new level." [and now my review] It's hard to describe how bad this hotel is in prose, so I'm just going to provide a list of bullet points. We were in 2 different rooms. Room 1 - The dividing door between our room and the one next to us had toilet paper stuffed into where the door lock should have been. If there was somebody in the next room, they could have just pushed the toilet paper out and looked right into our room. - The peephole looking out of the front door of the room was also stuffed with toilet paper. - The bathroom floor was filthy. - The furniture was falling apart. On top of that, the couch smelled intensely of mildew. - The room phone didn't work, at all. Neither did the ice machine on the first floor. - The next day, we asked for a new room. We were chastised for not asking sooner because of the "lost revenue" that we were apparently causing. ROOM 2 - We were given a new room on the second floor. The sheet had a cigarette burn hole in it and the mattress springs made noises when you sat or laid on the bed. - The toilet wouldn't flush. We didn't want to go to another hotel after changing rooms so we figured out how to open the tank and pull on a piece of plastic that would fill the tank with water so it could flush. We just did that after every couple of pees. - Needed more ice. Second floor ice machine spat out 5 pieces and then nothing. - A maintenance guy showed up the next morning at 9am to come fix the toilet. We were completely caught off guard. They might have called us, but...the phone didn't work in the new room either. I know that the pandemic has caused staffing shortages everywhere, and generally the things we pay for are lower-quality and more expensive. But it feels like whoever owns this business just doesn't care about much of anything. I sympathize with you, business owner! But I also am not responsible for a hotel. Maybe you should sell the hotel to somebody who is motivated to provide a high-quality service.

Yelp
This was the worst stay I've ever had. A true waste of money and disappointing time. I've never been treated so rude when I brought this to the attention of the front desk.

Geane H.

Yelp
Out of the countless years of staying in separate hotels, I have never been met with the level of unprofessionalism that I have dealt from Jose in the front office. I was told that the money used for the deposit will be returned in two days and it's been well over a week and there is no sign there's no sign of the deposit. Do yourself a favor and take your money somewhere else and definitely don't deal with Jose in the front office because that person is very clueless and ignorant to the type of job and quality of service he should be providing in the hospitality industry.

Yelp
This hotel does not have a ton going for it, it is outdated and there have been negative changes under new management. I would only recommend staying here prior to a cruise/after a cruise as it is in a good location between the port and airport. The area the hotel is located in is not very walkable (but most of Florida isn't if your outside of downtown areas). The rooms are outdated and could use some serious renovation and deep cleaning. The hotel DOES NOT offer shuttle services anymore and the pool bar is not open. The pool is nice enough and the staff have been very nice. For a budget stay it's not the worst you can get in Tampa.

Yelp
I came to stay die to a surgery at nearby hospital. I regret having reserved. I came late at night and unable to find anything else, price here is not cheap, so i expected more. Floors were dirty, blankets dirty, and mattress bigger than box. Also, there is not ice machine for customers, refrigerator did not work and coffee machine filthy.

Ashley D.

Yelp
We arrived for our 3 night stay to a completely gross room. They were going to charge us hundreds for a room that smelt of stale cigarettes (supposedly a non smoking room) and caked on dust and stained furniture. The bathroom was not wiped down and there was only one towel for two guests?? No thanks. We immediately left and asked for a full refund, which Linda at the front desk honored. She was very nice and understanding, as I am sure we aren't the first people with this complaint.

Yelp
Rooms closer to office are better.Pics were from another room.Would stay again if room has enclosed shower and jacuzzi tub like I had my last stay

Yelp
No. Just no. So run down. Photos are not reality. Barely slept. The AC goes on and off and is super loud. Couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here at the Tahitian Inn for a few days before we left on a cruise. The rooms were very spacious, very clean, the bed was awesome and the balcony was a nice perk as well!. The swimming pool was really nice too, surrounded by palm trees and a tiki bar. The Tahitian Cafe was a delicious place for breakfast and lunch! They provided a shuttle to the Port which we thought was fantastic! We will definitely revisit!

Michael D.

Yelp
Well according to google very little is required to have your hotel as a 3 star and as someone who spends majority of the year in hotels this is not yet a 3 star. Let me start off by saying the staff here is very friendly and accommodating but with that being said and they are doing construction.. Maybe it will get there but right now i feel like im staying in a motel 6 just double the price. Pool area needs updating as well. The ice bucket in my room is a dollar store square bucket with no lid.. not sure if ill stay the 2 nights im supposed to might just check out early and leave out. Look at pics.

Cyndi M.

Yelp
Don't know where to start. Couldn't possibly stay in first room offered as it smelled of stale and smoke and the bed felt and sounded like a 1980s fold out bed. Second room, in the 140s has better bed. Coffee machine didn't work, refrigerator full of frost, no functioning phone. Room keys repeatedly not opening door. Had to spend the night with a tweeting smoke alarm in the next room that they were unable to deal with and offered no refund or compensation. Perhaps the worst thing was that upon checkout, I saw that someone had forged my name on the registration. Ugh.

George T.

Yelp
Terrible hotel. Very dirty floors, mismatched furniture, chipped paint. Sheet had not been changed from previous guest (blood stains on sheet and pillowcases). Toilet ran constantly. No night staff on duty. Do not stay here.

Yelp
Run from this place!! It's DISGUSTING! Mold in the ceilings, sticky floors, black scum on the tub, human hair on the towels, black things in the sheets and stains on the sheets! We left within an hour and they charged my card for the romm and the manager"Paige" is dodging all my calls!! Run!!! Look at pictures

Yelp
This hotel what's the true definition of hotel hell, let's start out with the room that they offered with the check in the pictures that you see on Yelp is not what you really get you get a old 1970s Coke hotel room it looks really bad and unsafe then I got upgraded for free to the suite with the Jacuzzi. This is where it got really bad there were roaches crawling around randomly. The walls were paperthin all I heard was banging all night from people having sex in a room above me and beside me. The sheets had yellow stains on it it was gross I was so happy to leave and I was only there for two days good luck guys

Yelp
I decided to book this Hotel in Tampa FL which was listed close to the Raymond James Stadium. I was hesitant at first just by the initial reviews. We checked in shortly after 3:30p and check In is at 3p. We were greeted by the front desk and check in was quick and easy . The Tahitian Inn has a very unique entrance and the front looks a little dated and definitely has character. There is a Spa and a restaurant available to enjoy as well. On the website it looked like all their rooms were all inside but there was a back to the hotel with additional outside rooms. Where the doors were exposed outside and located closer to the pool and the Bar. At first I was a bit disappointed . Once entering the room it was very spacious and felt like a beach bungalow with tiled floor louvered window covers & white beachy vibe bedding. It was definitely an older hotel that has been somewhat updated but also well maintained, there was an old AC unit built inside the back wall it was a bit noisy through the night but definitely kept the room cool. The room included a mini fridge and a microwave. The furniture was dated mismatched and not the best quality. Overall the price & our experience, it was a very enjoyable stay. No complaints about the staff or cleanliness of the hotel or security.

Ashley S.

Yelp
I wouldn't even give this place a star with just the fact that when we tried to get WATER for our room, and we tried to use the vending machines and it didn't work. So we went to the front desk to ask for water and Jose (at the front desk who was the rudest person I've ever met) said there was no water available and we "have the showers to drink from." And I'm sorry...We are in florida and if a hotel does not have vending machines that are working and/or water service within the hotel space, it is NEVER acceptable to offer the shower as water! And never ever a place ANYONE should stay at. So please. Do not stay here.

Yelp
We were lured by the quaint online photos and the price was reasonable but we should have bailed after the first night. The bed sagged and you could feel the springs coming through. The pillows were thin without springiness. My back ached the next morning. We were tempted to check out after that first night but we had a busy schedule and didn't want to get tied up finding and moving to a different place. Sleeping on that bed the second night was worse-I couldn't get comfortable, and couldn't straighten out my back in the morning. We regretted not moving to a different place. When we were packing up on the 2nd morning I dropped my shaver and went looking, and that's when it got worse. I had to move the bureau and underneath hadn't been cleaned in years, but even worse was finding a bloody tampon laying in the filth. We couldn't use the shower because the water got no warmer than lukewarm, the towels were small, and not very absorbent. To top it off, we couldn't shut the water off completely in the tub so we listened to it dripping as we tried to sleep. There were two highlights though. The restaurant Pach's had a good breakfast that was reasonably priced. Our group had an assortment of waffles, eggs, fruits and meats and everyone notes it. The clerk that checked us out was a delight. She told us how she used to come there with her friends in the 60's and 70's when the Tahitian was still fresh and lively, and it was obvious she was aware of the place's decline. No, I don't recommend this place and I would never book it again.

Heather R.

Yelp
No- these are NOT photos from a crime scene.... My husband and I were visiting Tampa for the weekend and booked a "3 STAR" hotel on Hotwire-- and this horrific place was given to us... Unfortunately, you cannot take a picture of the smell of mold, covered up by cigarettes. No joke, we lasted about 15 minutes in the room before calling Hotwire to refund us. They did immediately after we explained the situation, and apologized profusely. I have NO idea how this place hasn't been condemned. This room has clearly not been tended to in ages, seeing as there are cigarette holes in the sheets, rust/blood stains on the mattress, dirt and grime in all corners of the room, and holes in the wall-- along with water stains. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look at these pictures before you even spend a dime here.

Yelp
I booked this hotel based on website pics and was very disappointed. The place is very run down and pics must be old. It was fine for my purpose of a place to sleep since my flight came in late and I was leaving the next day but still. But I wouldn't book again unfortunately.

Yelp
Don't you just love that nostalgic 1940s throwback era. We decided to book one night at the Tahitian inn because I had memories from when I was in my 20s and 30s going to the Tahitian inn for brunch on Sundays. When I would go to the Tahitian inn it was like going to the jungle with the expectation of seeing Tarzan and the monkeys. We arrived at the Tahitian inn in Tampa Florida with much Hi expectation because of the art deco and 1920s and 30s decor unfortunately we assume realized that the hotel was not as well kept as it used to be. Un arrival into the parking lot we unpacked our car and entered our room I soon discovered that the door lock inside the hotel was broken with one screw missing. As we continue to unpack I noticed two q-tips and a sock on the floor indicating that the cleaning wasn't really well done. I continue to go into the bathroom and notice signs of disrepair including a light bulb that kept flashing on and off and a light fixture in the main bedroom that wasn't fully affixed to the wall and you could see the wires exposed. I could appreciate the challenges of owning a business however we were charged with a $50 dog fee for two dogs where the total bill of $186 for one night. I stayed at many hotels and this was more than some of the other hotels that have stayed at and it was definitely not very well maintained. My recommendation that if you're going to Tampa Bay I would avoid staying at the Tahitian inn unless you don't mind paying a little bit extra for one night stay and if you do not mind the lack of cleanliness and if you do not mind some of the rooms just not being well taken care of. Hopefully the hotel will make some changes and improve on its decor and quality and cleanliness but I definitely do not feel the room for very clean.

Yelp
Really Poor looking dirty and bad service I checked in the 18 at like 1 am I asked when we have to leave and she told me the 19th at 12pm!!!! I was like awesome Them the phone ringing wake me up it was this rude guy saying that I have to leave at 12pm at that day I explain to him what the other person lady says and he answer with the worst attitude saying that he will charge us late check out if we don't leave by 12pm.... After I pay 120$ for some hours of sleep that's ridiculous if they told me that at first will prefer stay in a cheap motel and pay less for the same service. DO NOT STAY HERE IF TOU DONT WANT TO OVER PAY AND GET THE WORSE SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE

Yelp
This place was a score! My boyfriend and I decided to get away for the night and happened to find this place. At first the outside was a bit dreary compared to the pic on the website ... but when we walked in it literally felt like a Tahiti in the 20s - we are thankful that we paid a little bit extra and stayed in the executive sweet as it was surrounded by palm trees and included a spa tub. The staff was friendly and helpful and also gave us a late check out at noon. We went to the patio bar prior to going to dinner and had a great conversation with the bar tender who had tons of recommendations being a Tampa native. Great experience! I would recommend paying a little extra to stay in the main building though...

Yelp
Martina here at the Torch Tiki bar is one of the realest, most genuine bartenders I've had the privilege of meeting in Florida / across the country. If you're looking for someone you can relate with at any level, she's the one. The hotel itself is a good one, but if it wasn't for her, it wouldn't have stood out to me like it did. Whether you're staying at the Tahitian Inn, or just hanging out at their bar, you're sure to have a great experience with Martina. For people who KNOW people, she's people. A true hidden gem.

Yelp
This place definitely met my expectations. I know there are some mixed reviews on here but you have to take into account that this is an older Florida hotel and not a brand new Hilton. There's definitely value for the price and the environment is super cute. Some of the other guests were somewhat trashy but I don't think that is something the hotel can control. Our room was cute and comfortable. One of the towels was a little old but we just used that for the floor. Overall, I would definitely come back and I would recommend if you're planning on spending time around Tampa Bay and downtown Tampa/ Ybor. We also stopped in Clearwater to spend the day at the beach during our stay. Clearwater is probably the best, closest beach. We also stopped in Dunedin at the new Vegan Deli, which was fantastic. There are some really good restaurants around Tampa that are about 10 mins from this hotel. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you stay here.

Yelp
Stay away!!! Don't let housekeeping in your room. My perfume was stolen and they've done nothing to even apologize for it. They don't have "Do Not disturb" Signs; so I had the front desk mark my room as For No housekeeping. They stayed out the first day but the second I walked in and found they came in and touched my personal items. The A/C barely works, the room smell like mold, the bed is uncomfortable, the floors are tile and dirty AF (bring room slippers) the TVs are very tiny, the bathrooms don't have fans or any fans to help move the air around. The only positive was the nice lady who Checked me in on Sunday night.

Yelp
The Tahitian Inn is absolutely the best hotel in Tampa. It's quaint and representabtivd of a Florida past - a Florida of old US routes and natural beuties. And boy, is it a beauty. A great example of the time when everyone was coming to the sunshine state. Preserved in impecable form by its own timeless wonder. Come get lost in the emerald waters of the bathing pool while the staff make your perfect tropical cocktail. An oasis in the urban jungle.

Yelp
I don't normally review hotels, but I love this one. If you just ignore the fact that they remodeled a probably pretty crappy motel and put in stuff like a nice pool and tiki bar, you can imagine it being an awesome spot for the money. A decent gym, a sauna, a pool that changes colors, a tiki bar, and food being served in the parking lot, everything you could possibly need. There is even a Chic-fil-a next door! Its kind of near the hood and its not close to the beach, but hey, you get what you pay for.

Yelp
I'm going to keep this short and to the point.. my room was infested with bed bugs and they didn't give me a refund on site. I was told by the manager (Sean) I had to wait till Monday for them to inspect the room themselves to consider a refund. Other than that the lady at the front desk was very nice when checking in...

Yelp
My first review in over 40 years of travelling all over the world. I understand that this property isnt a high star rating and expected limited service but this was not acceptable. The room we were assigned did not look like anything in the photos, it was old, tired looking, had a bed which we saw being removed the day we left and replaced so clearly it was old. The toilet ran constantly and the shower had more than a constant drip all day and night. The maintenance tried to help but said the place needed major renos and parts would take long. The girl at the front desk said "yeah we are going to renovate soon" and offered no solution. The housekeeping staff do not look at you, smile or speak any English which is fine but could learn basic words like towel, soap, garbage. The front desk needs to learn how to be hospitable (except the young lady with short hair was decent). We asked to stay an extra hour on check out till 12 and they wanted $50. In all the high end hotels and condos around the world, never not been given an hour grace. We sat in the pool area and nobody touched our room to clean for over 2 hours so they could have let us stay. DO not take the photos as real, there are no nice curtains or cabana around the pool or nice furniture, there are no staff at bar and just an empty run down location. No phones in the room so if you want housekeeping you have to call or go to front desk. The girl at desk with long dark hair saw me asking for a pool towel and practically removed it from my hand since I did not have a room but then said you can use and if you dont bring to desk we will charge you. THe towels were old and left sitting around pool so not sure why she was so concerned as to me now stealing it. At the pool there is no bin for trash or dirty towels so people just left them everywhere. the main floor is noisey with cars, people and they roll their carts early in the morning so dont expect a good night rest. They did store our luggage if you want to add that to the limited service. Contacted the hotel as what we paid which is the highest rate I have ever paid for a hotel of this low rating and they offered no compensation not even a free breakfast for the room we had. Again, pictures are well done, it is not what you get in all rooms or pool and surrounding areas and the service is poor. Not sure who manages it but they are charging a lot and doing little to upgrade.

Yelp
If I could give less than one star I would! The bathroom was gross! The shower head was the water saving type that hurts when you shower!!! One towel in the bathroom for two guest! Just gross bed and I would have left but couldn't! Never staying here again!!

Yelp
Soooo - the place was a bed to sleep in for a night. It's well lit and felt safe even though we were off of a dodgy road/area. I'm not sure what more you can expect for $100 ... I read a few reviews that said it was clean - no ... No... It's not clean by my standards. I'm posting a picture of why my babies feet looked like after being in a walker on the tile for 30 mins. It was very very humid and wet feeling and had a slightly funky smell. What I will say- is the people were very very nice, but if this is what Tahiti is like - I'm never going ;(

Yelp
Whenever we come to town my sweet family likes to book me, my husband, and my 2 kids a room in this hotel. The location is good, it's centrally located on a VERY busy road in a nice neighborhood. The staff is friendly, the pool area is good, though the locals often stop in so it's very crowded at times with non guests. That is where my praise ends. In 3 separate stays, in 3 different rooms (but we have been in 5 rooms, seeing family members rooms also staying here) I must impress upon you, the reader of this review, that the rooms pictured on the website are NOT typical. It is a very old hotel and it shows, even through the minor cosmetic updates. Every room we've had has had plumbing issues, from the flow of the shower, to the plate behind the knob falling off and causing a leak that flowed out of the wall and toward the toilet behind, to a cracked sink. I took a bath during our most recent stay and I had to manually hold open the tub stopper to get the water to drain. The tile floors tend to hold dirt so, even if mopped well by staff, your feet will still look dirty. The furniture often has various layers of paint, some of which is peeling, and the walls show where the building has settled and cracked over the years and been poorly patched up. Each room is a little different, so some are nicer than others, not sure why the extreme variation in quality, maybe depending on their original state... I'm not sure if the walls are just really thin or if people are just REALLY loud, but on our 2 previous stays our rooms were near the pool and the noise from people talking in the stairs and in the breezways and moving around and in and out of rooms was awful. This time we stayed in the area over the lobby so it wasn't an issue. The most recent room we stayed in was a suite with a kitchenette. It had a white fridge and a stainless steel and black microwave, an unattractive combination. The cabinets haven't been repainted recently and looked a bit dingy and dated. The contents of the cabinets was 3 mis-matched wine glasses, no cups or plates, which is usually standard for a kitchenette. There was shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, but no soap, and the towels are teeny tiny. My skinny little 7 year old had no trouble, but us grownups were left wanting. The beds in all 3 of the rooms we have slept in have left me tossing and turning all night. I usually sleep quite deeply and don't move around much, so for me to wake up 4 or 5 times a night and have to shift to find comfort is rare. My lower back hurts so much each time that I end up awake at 5 or 6am sitting in a chair waiting for the spasms to subside. The price you pay for the quality is really hit or miss. Some rooms are a bit nicer, but on the whole, do you really want to take that chance? It seems vastly overpriced for the general motel quality of most of the spaces you will inhabit. Again, the staff is great and the pool and tiki area is generally pretty good, though crowded with non-guests. Food in the restaurant is pretty good. Parking is ok, and the central location is excellent, though I recommend using GPS to navigate the back roads as Dale Mabry is THE main thoroughfare and is very very VERY high traffic. I wish I could give this place a better review. It's been here for decades and I know they have tried to make it great, it just misses the mark every time and this was strike 3 for us.

Yelp
Yes it's not perfect - kitschy , camp, pre-eclectic tendencies but this place seems to practice some continual improvement while respecting its colorful past the tiki bar is a bit Kookoo and fun. The bartender Mike made an amazing margarita with ALTOS repesodo tequila, fresh lime juice and agave syrup that was fantastic sad to hear some reviewers found some of the rooms to be unclean. No problem with our room but that was in the bigger higher portion of the hotel

Yelp
no rating. disgusting hotel. no hot water, rusty super old bathroom. i found blood on our pillows & sheets. the Spanish housekeep is disgustingly rude. they bang on your door at 8am for house keeping. charged a ridiculous late fee for checking out at 11:10am. while speaking to the manager about everything she decided to walk away mid speaking. i would NEVERRRR recommend this shitty place to anybody.

Yelp
This place is filthy! The outside pool area is super cute, and probably why I chose it without looking at Yelp reviews. Do not stay here!

Yelp
This is a low quality motel at best. Disgusting and nasty. Guests smoking weed and loud. Fighting at the pool. No koi pond like in the pictures. Very run down. I do not recommend!! Stay away. Many upgrades needed. Not enough outlets next to fridge, microwave, and TV you have to unplug one as they only have two plug ins. The bathroom totally nasty and stains under the sink from a leak. No lamp on one night stand. Furniture missing knobs and scratched up. Only two towels. Quality of the toilet paper was subpar as well. Walls dirty and mattress dirty. When we entered we noticed mosquitos just started to attack us. Outdated to say the least. My pics speak for themselves. What a dump and in a nice area. We wanted to try this unique place and don't live far but what a disappointment. Holes on the walls and no towel holder in bathroom. I could go on. On the positive the tv was a nice size. It that's it. Staff wasn't too friendly could not be bothered or interrupted while conversing with each other. Had to wait till they finished talking to check in. I interrupted their conversation with my presence.

Yelp
Tired and grubby. Very tired and very grubby. All the baseboards are grubby looking. The legs of the furniture are grubby looking and bashed. The flooring is uneven and grubby. Poor lighting - probably hides more grubbiness. Bathroom walls are painted wallpaper that's coming off - and they are grubby. Even the shuttle van from the airport was grubby. Glad I didn't book any spa services! Shudder. EDIT: And I forgot to mention paper thin walls, rusty and corroded faucets - I'm not willing to shower here. And the idiots who keep vrooming their vehicles in the parking lots. Don't get suckered in by the "free airport and cruiseport shuttles" - stay some place nicer.

Yelp
Great place to stay! Clean, nice service, and very fitting for the area. You really did feel like you were in a vacation spot in florida. Great place if you need a hotel here in tampa. It is very modestly priced and a good value.

Yelp
We paid for a room with two queen beds. When we got there, the receptionist said they were out of the room we paid for. They 'upgraded' us to a room with a queen bed and a pull-out couch. The room was very smelly, almost like they were masking a scent. The pull-out couch had stained sheets that hadn't been changed in a very long time. After we went back to the receptionist and said our room was not habitable for 4 people, they magically had the room we booked available. That room ended up having a broken smoke detector, clogged drains, and roaches. The pictures they have online are not what the hotel actually looks like.
