Taiga Hostel

Taiga Hostel is a clean, quiet hostel - no problems with noise or falling asleep here. The beds are comfortable with a nice blanket, and each bed has it's own lamp and outlet. There's a small lounge/kitchen area, where you can cook and coffee/tea is free for you to make. Unlike other hostels, there aren't many people hanging out in the common area. There are only two toilets and two showers for many people, so sometimes you need to wait. The staff are kind and helpful. The location is a bit far from most areas of interest, but it's definitely within walking distance, and it's conveniently located near a subway station and grocery store (the train station is also less than a mile away).

The location is great, hostel is relatively near all the important sights. There's plenty of grocery shops that are open 24/7, ATMs, coffee shops, restaurants etc that are no more than 5min away.|The hostel itself is clean and tidy. They will give you a clean towel (and change it to clean one) or change your bedsheets for free.|Staff was amazing. The receptionists make each guest feel welcome, they give great advice on where to go and what to see. |Once I was talking to one of the receptionists Anya and I mentioned that I have 3 days left but it seems like I've seen everything that I wanted to and I'm out of ideas of how to spend the time that's left. When I saw her later that day, she had a HUGE hand-written list of the places to visit with addresses and entrance prices included. |I also want to say big thanks to another receptionist Elizaveta (the nicest host Ive met!) and other guests, that made the stay so memorable and enjoyable!

Amazing staff. Exceptional lodging. Never worried about security or privacy. Everyone staying there was nice and friendly and I met some amazing new friends while I was there. Be respectful and patient if there is a language barrier and everyone will do their best to be just as respectful and helpful, if not more. If I ever get to visit St. Petersburg again, I'm definitely staying here again.

We stayed at Taiga three years ago and we were very happy. So we came back and we stayed five nights in the room with own bathroom. Unfortunately, we have been very disappointed with our second stay: Execept for the girl on the day of our arrival, no one seems to have an understanding of service and it seem that they just don‘t care. ||We have the feeling that it is not anymore the same management as it was three years ago. The room is still nice although the mattress is run down. The bathroom need some refurbishment. The sinkhole in the shower was completely blocked. Therefore, we asked the girl on the second day to fix the issue and she said that they will take care of it and clean the room anyway. When we came back in the evening, nothing was made. So on the next morning we reported the issue again and we insisted that they fix it to avoid a huge mess in the bathroom. And they finally did but only the very necessary (no fresh towels, no shampoo - we now it is a Hostel but they offer it).||After having asked two times how it works with the laundry, we finally left our laundry with the girl in the morning. Of course, we had to ring the bell two times until she showed up in a half sleeping mode. We asked her for the laundry, insisted that we need the laundry back in the evening since we had to leave the next morning very early. She confirmed that she will take care of it. As we came back in the evening our bag with our dirty clothes was at exactly the same place - unwashed of course... And the girl was very nonchalant about our issue.||Our conclusion: Not recommended anymore and we will not stay here again. It would be great if the Taiga would become fantastic again. Good luck!|||

Taiga hostel is situated in an old town house from the end of the 19th century, I guess. The hostel is well renovated and a very cosy place. There are birds singing in the toilets and they have a kitchen. The staff is very helpful and everyone speaks English. I met so many interesting people during my journay in St. Petersbourg and in Russia in general. It's such a great contry, I appreciated not only the wonderful hostel, but also the russian food, the dark beer, the music, the culture, the cafés and the hospitality of the people. I will come back!

I visited Taiga House with my son in September 2019, and it was a great place to stay during the week we were in Saint Petersburg. We had the Bookworm Suite, which was of a comfortable size and had pleasant décor. The staff -- particularly Andrei -- were friendly and helpful, and many fun conversations with other guests were had in the kitchen. Once the pandemic ends, I would love to visit St. Petersburg again, and you can bet I would book a room at Taiga for this return trip.

Very convenient location for night walking in the central streets in the night city! I like this hostel for its atmosphere, cozy kitchen, nice interior and very friendly stuff. Singing birds in the toilet is a great notion))

Taiga hostel is a really friendly place with a lovely atmosphere. During my first visit I made a lot of friends who were also visiting from around the world in the hostel, and when I returned for another visit a few months later it felt like I was returning home, I was greeted like a good friend as soon as I arrived and instantly felt at home. This is definitely the hostel I'll keep returning to whenever I visit St Peterburg.
