"What was once a classic Ritz-Carlton in the vein of an Eloise book is now an amenity-laden luxury hotel with most of the building’s original beaux arts details intact (the Instagram-worthy lobby alone is worth a visit). Originally opened in 1927, the 17-story retreat hosted the likes of Winston Churchill and Joan Crawford (said to be an especially high-maintenance guest). In 2002, the hotel underwent a massive renovation on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; in 2006, Taj Hotels bought the building and formally unveiled Taj Boston in 2007. Rooms are awash in comfort: down-filled comforters, a pillow menu, seasonal fireplace butlers, and bath butlers. In keeping with the hotel’s blend of Old and New World traditions, the customer service is gracious but not stuffy. The best part of the hotel, though is what lays outside it: Taj Boston's central location means guests can walk to all the city’s sites."

Room is nice albeit a bit dated. Concierge is nice and responsive but housekeeping could be a bit better. Don't expect high turn around times which is disappointing for the price tag. If you are expecting a sub par 4 star hotel you will be right at home, but it is certainly a better experience than a 3 star hotel. Also apparently you cannot bring your own alcohol into the rooms which is a big ???.

I love this hotel. I haven’t spent the night but I’ve had drinks here several times and attended a holiday party in one of the ballrooms. The staff is wonderful, and I’d like to recognize James in particular. He is by far the best concierge I have worked with in Boston and will bend over backwards to accommodate guests. I don’t find it dated inside, but I haven’t seen the guest rooms, so my experience is a little limited.

We had a very nice stay here. The room was clean and nicely appointed, the staff was all very friendly, and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was very nice with a strong shower and plenty of space for two people's things on the vanity by the sink. The breakfast was quite tasty with bagels, pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, hard boiled eggs, and good coffee. My only small complaint is that there wasn't a coffee maker or hot water kettle in the room. I assume they don't have them because they are time consuming to clean. But for an early riser, waiting until breakfast at 7 on the weekend would be much more pleasant if I could have made some coffee or tea in the room.

Tired rooms, gorgeous views. If location is the most important thing, you can't beat the Taj. My bathroom was small and we were only given one washcloth. The toiletries were never replaced. The closet smelled damp and musty. I was worried about keeping my clothes in it because I didn't want them to pick up the odor. No coffee makers in the rooms. You have to go down to the lobby to get coffee in the morning. Staff was friendly and helpful. I'm not disappointed with my stay, but the view was the only thing that felt luxurious about the hotel.

Great location. Decor, furniture and fixtures were a little dated, but all were clean and fully functional. This was clearly a luxury hotel 30 years ago (there was a telephone in the bathroom). Room was spacious and well decorated - it had a full dresser, large desk and large bathroom. I would stay there again.

We spent two nights here. Only one was planned but after our flight was cancelled we were happy to check back in! The staff was wonderful and even upgraded our room to a gorgeous view of the garden on our second night. I've always had a love for this hotel as my grandparents have been staying there since I was little and my college graduation party was held in the beautiful ballroom overlooking the Gardens. Never had a bad time here!

There is no parking at the hotel, you must pay to park and then walk. The hotel is very nice, there is a Tiffany's connected to it. The price of the hotel was decent, paid 200 for one night. The staff there are very nice. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and some rooms over look the park. Worth the money spent.

Overall, it should really be a 3-star hotel with a 4-star service because the old facility. stayed there for 3 days for a conference. the service was great, excellent food with room service. wonderful location right on top of subway and public garden with beautiful views. The bad part is the hotel itself. it's OLD! the wall is paper thin. I can hear VERY CLEARLY people's conversations at normal volume. At midnight, somebody decided to turn on the loud music and I had to call security to get it turned off. for the price, it should do better.
