Taj Lands End (Mumbai, India) 4 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It might not be exactly the end of the world, but compared to the manic bustle of central Mumbai, the swanky seaside suburb of Bandra feels quite comfortably distant. It’s also, not entirely coincidentally, a convenient location for travelers with business in the districts of Bandra-Kurla, Andheri or Worli, and it’s this conjunction — plus, as a bonus, close proximity to not one but two airports — that makes it an ideal location for the Taj Lands End." - Tablet Hotels

Taj Lands End, Mumbai - A Mixed Experience We stayed at Taj Lands End from 21st to 24th December and had a rather mixed experience. The first impression was positive - the lobby is expansive and grand. However, check-in took longer than expected. We had booked Luxury Rooms, expecting a clear Sea Link view. One room had a partial view, while the second had none at all. To the hotel’s credit, they were kind enough to change the room the next day. The rooms were spacious, and the bathrooms were well-maintained, but aesthetically the rooms felt underwhelming for a Taj property. The bed skirt looked old and stained, which was quite disappointing. The mini bar was completely unstocked, making it practically useless. On the second night, the AC in one of the rooms stopped working and could not be fixed the entire night, making it extremely uncomfortable and suffocating. The issue was resolved the next morning, and the hotel thoughtfully sent a bottle of wine as an apology, which was a very sweet gesture. The most concerning experience, however, was related to mini bar checks. Instead of being done during housekeeping, staff came separately and knocked on doors irrespective of whether guests were inside. While my wife was asleep in the room, a staff member rang the bell 2-3 times and, receiving no response, used the master key to enter the room - only to check the mini bar, which isn’t even replenished. This was extremely disturbing. When I raised this at the reception, the manager bluntly said that the DND sign was not switched on. That response was unacceptable. If the hotel already knows a guest is inside the room (there is an indicator light outside the door), no staff member should enter without explicit permission, especially for a non-essential task like a mini bar check. Compared to other Taj properties I’ve stayed at, this one feels worn out. While the property is undeniably huge, it lacks aesthetics, and even the outdoor areas look dated. Unfortunately, the staff attitude overall felt rude and not very courteous, which is surprising for a Taj hotel. That said, the housekeeping team - especially Mahesh and Sujit - were excellent, polite, and genuinely helpful. Overall, Taj Lands End has scale and location working for it, but it seriously needs upgrades in aesthetics, staff training, and guest privacy protocols to match the standards expected from the Taj brand. -- Varun

Please feel free to contact me at any time today or tomorrow. I am writing to formally express my serious dissatisfaction with the overall experience during my recent visit. The issues outlined below reflect multiple service breakdowns that are inconsistent with the standards historically associated with Taj Hotels. Arrival Experience (Valet and Security): Upon arrival, there was a visible and unprofessional altercation between the valet staff and security personnel. Additionally, when I politely inquired whether my vehicle could be parked on the downward slope—given that I was staying only for approximately 15 minutes—the valet responded in an unnecessarily rude and dismissive manner. Lobby Environment: The lobby area opposite the reception desk was occupied by several individuals sitting with their feet placed on the sofas. This created an undignified and poorly managed first impression in what should be a premium guest space. Interaction on Level 2 (Banquet Area): While attending a banquet on Level 2, my infant daughter became upset. To help calm her, we briefly stepped into the children’s area. As we were entering, a staff member approached us abruptly—without any greeting or courtesy—and questioned us in an inappropriate tone by asking, “What room number?” Despite my explanation that we were attending a banquet, we were asked to leave immediately. This interaction caused further distress, with my infant daughter crying uncontrollably, despite our intention to remain for only a few minutes. Children’s Area (Rabbits Section): While standing near the rabbits, a cleaning staff member power-washing the ground approached us and instructed us not to touch the rabbits, even though we were not touching them at all. The manner and timing of this intervention were unnecessary and disruptive. Food & Beverage Quality (Banquet): At the banquet, an insect was found in a glass of watermelon juice. The staff member simply removed the glass without offering an apology, explanation, or replacement—representing a significant lapse in basic service recovery protocols. Facility Maintenance: The yellow swings located near the pool area were observed to have visible stains and tears, indicating inadequate upkeep and attention to safety and aesthetics. Collectively, these incidents reflect a systemic failure in service delivery, staff training, and guest experience management. This is not the level of hospitality we expect from Taj Hotels. As loyal customers and shareholders of Indian Hotels Company, such experiences significantly erode trust and brand confidence. For context, our recent stays at JW Marriott Juhu and Trident (South Bombay) were markedly superior in every respect. We share this feedback not merely as a complaint, but with the genuine expectation that Taj Hotels should—and must—do better. Experiences of this nature ensure that even long-standing loyal patrons reconsider future engagements. We look forward to a prompt acknowledgment and a clear explanation of corrective actions.

Taj Lands End truly defines world-class luxury and hospitality in Mumbai. From the moment you step into the grand, beautifully scented lobby, you are greeted with the legendary 'Tajness' that sets this hotel apart. The location is simply unbeatable—perched right at the end of Bandstand, offering absolutely breathtaking panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the majestic Bandra-Worli Sea Link. If possible, opt for a sea view room; waking up to that vista is a highlight of the stay. The rooms themselves are spacious, elegantly modern, and appointed with plush, comfortable furnishings. The dining experience is equally stellar. The breakfast spread at Vista is lavish, and enjoying a meal there while overlooking the water is a perfect way to start the day. For dinner, the Indian fine dining at Masala Bay is highly recommended for its innovative menu and deep flavors. What truly elevates the experience is the service. Every single staff member, from the doorman to the concierge team, is attentive, personalized, and genuinely goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. They handle every request with promptness and a welcoming smile. Whether you're visiting for business (with easy access to BKC) or for a luxury leisure staycation, Taj Lands End is, without question, the gold standard in Mumbai. Highly, highly recommended.

Had a pleasant overnight stay. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was good with a nice variety and great taste. The rooms felt a tad bit older in style, but they were very well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The sea view from the room was lovely and definitely a highlight of the stay. Overall, a relaxing experience with classic Taj hospitality.

We stayed at Taj Lands End for three nights, and I have to say it has been one of the most memorable hotel experiences we’ve had. From the moment we checked in, everything felt welcoming and personal. Our room had a stunning sea view that we never got tired of – waking up to that view every morning was a joy. The food was consistently delicious with a great variety at every meal. What really stood out to us was the warmth of the staff. They were always smiling, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay comfortable. A special moment for us was when the Housekeeping Ambassador personally came to our room and surprised us with a beautifully arranged bouquet filled with thoughtful items and a handwritten note. It was such a sweet and unexpected gesture, and it truly made us feel special. The environment throughout the property is peaceful and relaxing, and every corner reflects the signature Taj hospitality.

We had a wonderful experience at Taj Lands End, especially in the F&B section. The hospitality was truly exceptional, and the staff made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived.||A special mention to Sonal Pandey, Shruti, and Sangi for their outstanding service. They were extremely warm, humble, and attentive throughout our visit. They patiently helped us choose food options, explained the menu well, and ensured we were comfortable at all times.||Their welcoming approach and genuine kindness really enhanced our dining experience. This level of hospitality reflects the true Taj standard. Looking forward to visiting again!

This property proved to be the perfect weekend retreat for experiencing the vibrant city of Mumbai. Conveniently located near the airport, the new BKC complex, and Bandstand with its sweeping views, it offered us the luxury of saving precious time otherwise lost in traffic. We were delighted to be upgraded to a stunning room overlooking the iconic Sealink Bridge and the serene Mahim Bay. The thoughtfully appointed amenities and the elegance of the room made our stay truly pleasurable. The facilities throughout the hotel were exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed the lively ambiance, tasteful décor, and the energetic buzz that defined the space. The 21st-floor lounge was a highlight, with impeccable service that elevated the experience. Special mention must be made of Rakesh, Rupesh (including the Chef), Bharat, and Manager Aneesh, whose warmth and professionalism were outstanding. Evenings at the atrium bar were a delight, with its inviting atmosphere, excellent drinks, and live music adding a charming touch. In all, this property offers a lens into the real Mumbai—dynamic, stylish, and welcoming. We would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic yet elevated experience of the city.
