What Does Globalization Really Destroy?

"As Mark Twain recounted, having overread about the Taj Mahal can build an impossible image in your head, so when you finally see it the real thing doesn’t match that literary fantasy; his experience illustrates how our preconceived expectations can make a place feel disappointing even if the place itself is remarkable." - Matthew Kepnes

A flavorful chicken with a little kick of spice. I ordered chicken tikka that had fresh herbs like onions with a lemon as well to enhance the taste. The chicken had a savory taste, and the texture was tender and juicy. You can tell that the chicken had been marinated for a long amount of time. It was seasoned with many different spices that can be recognized. The fresh herbs added to the taste and brightened the dish because they added a freshness and depth that enhanced the flavor of the chicken tikka. It was served on a sizzling hot pan, which brought out the colors and aroma. The chicken had a vibrant orange color that made the dish look even more appetizing. It had a mild spicy flavor to it. Chicken tikka has its roots in India, specifically associated with the Mughal dynasty. Mughal cooks were known for making marinades and using tandoors, which are clay ovens, and the chicken I ordered was also cooked in one. “Tikka” means pieces or chunks of chicken, and it was made to be cut into small pieces without bones to avoid choking, but it soon became popular throughout India and many other places. Tikka is essentially marinated chicken pieces cooked in a tandoor. It is a classic Indian cuisine in the North, and it is one of the most common appetizers in India. It’s often served with masala, which means a blend of spices, and it’s a sauce made with tomatoes, onions, spices, and cream that accompanies the chicken. It was truly delicious, and it was my first time trying Indian food. I would recommend anyone who wants to delve into what is popular and part of the culture of Indian food to start with chicken tikka because you can see how enriched with spices the meals from India are. @fandmcollege and @fandm_history on Instagram and TikTok and #FandMEverywhere

Dinning at Taj Mahal was a delightful experience from start to finish. The ambience was cozy and inviting with soft lighting. Staff is very friendly. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked perfection. Cannot wait to go back. If you are looking for luxurious experience look the further.

Google
this place is sacred to my family and i -- we have been coming here since i was younger. the weekend buffet is the best; it lasts until 3pm on saturdays and sundays. i look forward to rice pudding (with the carrot topping) and tea at the end of my meal. sometimes there is a very talented sitar player.

Google
I came for the buffet. The food was good but where they were lacking is the options. There were very few. I'd recommend adding an additional meat option such as butter chicken. I'd also recommend adding something like chai tea or/and mango juice to the buffet. As far as the service, I felt it took a long time to bring out fresh food. Which actually caused me to stay longer. Which as a restaurant they want quick turn arounds. The naan was basically empty the instant it was brought out. One of the rice desserts was empty my entire time there. The food was good but with some improvements this spot could do very well. The price was also fair. It only cost me $15 when I went.

Google
Our first visit to Taj Mahal and it was perfect! Best Indian food we've had in ages. We asked for American medium, which was the perfect spice level for our family with mixed palates. The saag paneer was delicious, so generous with the cheese cubes. Naan fresh and flavorful. The meat lovers enjoyed the lamb roganjosh. The live sitar music and decor were lovely. Most of all, we were treated like family, the service was so accommodating when we explained we had to make it to a concert they brought the bill right away and helped us box everything. Highly recommend, and we will return soon!!!

Google
This place is absolutely incredible! My family and I ate here as part of a homework assignment of a Cultural Food course that I am taking. We had never eaten at an authentic Indian restaurant before. As soon as we walked in the door, the smells and atmosphere were just phenomenal! We were greeted right away and all the staff was so warm and welcoming. The food and service was amazing. I highly recommend it and we will definitely be eating here again!

Amir M.

Google
Very very good food! We loved every single dish we ordered, yet Gobi Manchurian and Mixed grill appetizer were the highlights. Service could have shown a little smile specifically the server who took the order not the runner. Wouldn’t cost you much to smile sometimes but makes me feel better for tipping you. Would be back to try more of the menu.

Google
The staff is friendly and starts you off with warm washcloths which is super nice. The atmosphere is nice with occasional live music. The best part is the food though! The chicken Tikka Masala is to die for and the other dishes are great too. This is a must go to restaurant

Austin S.

Yelp
Excellent service, literally perfect ambiance, good prices, great food. The buffet is amazing food and great price:food ratio. One of my favorites! There is often live music, it is BYOB, and the interior is fun and well decorated.

Kevin R.

Yelp
Great and tasty food! Authentic experience and atmosphere! Everything that we ever ordered was excellent!

Yelp
This establishment is located in Lancaster County PA, and puts out the best Monday night dinner smorgasbord in the county! Much healthier than the traditional PA Dutch buffets. Once you try it, you'll definitely be back for their daily lunch buffet. Reasonably priced for the quality of food and service!

Abby Y.

Yelp
Best Indian place in Lancaster! Their food is consistently great and tasty. We get takeout here all the time with fast service.

Jeremy R.

Yelp
This food is amazing. Really like how they have different levels of spice for everybody's pallet only ordered from DoorDash and the food was great so can't wait to check out what it's like Inside. Authentic isn't just in the name well done!

Yelp
We love Taj Mahal! I have reviewed them before but my last review looks like it was 5 years ago and for pandemic takeout so a new one is in order. This is a charming spot. The owners have it well decorated to add a little 'feel of India' to the restaurant with interesting textiles. There is live music on Saturday that is fabulous! There is a weekday lunch buffet and some weekend evening buffets but we always order from the menu. We have our favorites and like to get many things quite spicy-- though we love sooo many of the options! Naan is excellent. Chicken tikka and chicken makahni... we love both! We also really like the daal makahni-- nice lentil dish. The lamb kebabs and fried cauliflower appetizers are GREAT! So is the fried cheese (name forgotten...) but if we got all the appetizers we love we'd never be able to eat an entree! My family loves the Bombay Aloo potato dish. My family just loves the chicken soup as well. Spouse ALSAYS gets Navarattan Shahi Korma which is a really fab vegetarian dish with really compelling flavors. Give them a try! BEST Indian food in Lancaster BY FAR! Lots of choice on the menu. And I've had Indian many other places well beyond Lancaster and have often felt Taj beats them too! Service is good too-- seems some of the family is often there filling many roles. Very kind and friendly.

Yelp
My wife was born in India and I have been there many times. So this review is based on a lot of experience with Indian food, including here in the US. We went on a weekday and tried the buffet. The food looked like Indian food, but it lacked even a hint of flavor, not to mention spice or heat. The tandoori chicken was red, but lifeless. The cooks really had to make an effort to strip that food of any flavor. OK. I understand that some restaurants think they need to water down their ethnic buffet to not offend the least adventuresome pallet. So maybe ordering off the menu can generate a dish with flavor? Nope. Went back a week later and ordered the Paneer Chapatta appetizer. It actually wasn't bad. Not great, but OK. We then ordered the Lamb Vindaloo which is supposed to be spicy. I ordered the spice / heat to be 8 out of 10 with 10 being hot. Oh my. No flavor, spice or heat. I don't think that dish would have been any different no matter what spice/heat level I ordered. My wife ordered the Goan Chicken, a "specialty of South India" so the menu says. My wife is from south India. That was not Goan chicken. Bland and creamy sauce, which is not what Goan chicken is. We drove into Lancaster afterwards so I could look for a homeless person to give the leftovers to. No luck. I understand this isn't New Jersey that has great Indian restaurants. And that the pallet of most people in Lancaster for this type of food isn't experienced so probably thinks the Taj Mahal is a really good restaurant. But if you want Indian food that at least makes a good faith effort at trying to be good, and does a pretty good job, check out Himalayan Curry and Grill in Lancaster. The buffet is very good and the dishes from the menu are flavorful if not very hot or spicy.

Yelp
I wanted to try this restaurant during my visit to lancaster. Located in a small shopping plaza, this restaurant has its own parking spaces and also shared with other stores. The outdoor décor was nicely done with the welcome sign. And the interior is maintained very well and the decor was beautiful. It definitely reflects the name of the restaurant very well. With a lot of iconic small statues and wall hangings. As you entered the restaurant, I was greeted and checked for a buffet or ala carte. I went with the buffet option. The buffet has vegetable soup, vegetarian appetizer pakora, sauteed vegetables, and chicken legs. For the main course, they had vegetable biryani. White rice couple of vegetarian gravy options, chicken tikka masala, goat curry. They had naan, too. For desert, they had halw and kheer. There were some fruit options , chutney, pickles, etc. I saw a lot of people enjoying the food, almost 10 tables but locals and no Indians. Coming to the food, it was OK food with spices missing . Like other reviews, the chicken was dry. Goat curry was good. For the price the food was good, friendly staff. Try this place. The price of the buffet is listed at the start of the buffet.

Daniel C.

Yelp
I've been going here for 20 years--really great and consistent over that entire time. Too many favorites to list, so I'll just say get the vindaloo--you won't be disappointed, unless you're a baby that doesn't like spicy food.

Yelp
Review of the buffet. The positives. Good variety. Lots of veggie dishes. Very fresh veggies, wonderfully cooked. Salad, chutneys, spicy sauces (*warning - very spicy), chicken and lamb, soup, rice pudding and carrot dessert. The not so positives. Lack of love. This might sound odd, but in other Indian restaurants I have dined at, I am warmly greeted, fresh naan is brought to the table, I'm offered hot chai, plates are promptly cleared and someone stops by the to ask how our food was. None of that here. On the buffet, naan tasted like a cut up discs of cold pita. I want my naan warm and crisp. Sauced foods needed a good kick of spice. Everything was bland in spice and heat.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. I really like the chicken curry and I've gotten them at spice levels as high as ten, and as low as 5. I prefer my curry to be pretty spicy and they do a great job. However, the extra spicy does not mask the o really deep flavor if the curry. I also had their tikkimasala app (bbq chicken) and their stir fried shrimp app. I like how this place has no wait time on Friday nights. Easy lily seated, lots, I mean lots of takeout orders.
google avatar

Yelp
Only in Lancaster could this place get away with 5 Star reviews. It's not good. It's not even the best Indian food in Lancaster, and that's saying something. Some of you need to get out and experience what actual good food tastes like. It's a 2-3 star Indian restaurant. Nothing more.

Yelp
I went here on Sunday and they have a decently sized variety of food and if you love Indian food it is the best spot ever the service is great because it's never packed so they always can get to you and the music is amazing they play traditional Indian music along with the comfy cozy look it all goes together perfectly I would give it 5 stars and fully recommend to others

Yelp
Our go-to spot for incredible Indian takeout! When it comes to takeout, my wife and I can't resist this place! Their Vindaloo is bold and fiery--perfect for spice lovers--while the Navarattan Korma is creamy, subtly sweet, and oh-so-comforting. We always round out the meal with their flavorful Aloo Gobi, which is packed with perfectly spiced potatoes and cauliflower. And no dinner here is complete without finishing with a dessert of kheer! The creamy rice pudding is the perfect way to wrap up such a flavorful feast. This spot has become a takeout tradition for us, and we can't recommend it enough. If you're craving incredible Indian food from the comfort of home, this is the place to order from!

Yelp
Decided to try the buffet toddy bc for $15 a buffet seemed like a steal. As a south Asian the best way I can describe the food is very Americanized Indian food- So catered to non-south Asians. To another south Asian I would not recommend the buffet- waste of money bc the food was very BLAND. At the buffet they had veggie pakora, veggie biryani, lamb curry, chicken makhani, mushroom saag, this paneer dish, chicken tandoori. Very bland food. Chicken tandoori is just color no flavor. The lamb and chicken had a very meaty smell so the meat was definitely not prepared well with the gravy and the gravy itself was very bland- hard to call it any type of makhani or curry. You can tell the meats were boiled and just dropped in the gravy. The mushroom saag was probably the worst thing I tried. Canned mushrooms dropped in blended spinach- again no type of flavor at all. So very much catered to the non- south Asian taste buds. Also not the mention there was this one server who was so rude to us. He told us to go sit in the back but then told us to move to another table bc it was gonna be a full house? Didn't bring us any water until we had to call him over to bring us water, didn't even bother to collect old buffet plates until we were actually done. We had the same server before when we dined in during dinner and similar experience. But we did order takeout before and for the simple paneer saag and chicken tikka masala and asked them to make it spicy and it was pretty decent. Maybe 6/10? It's very hard to decent or edible south Asian food in central pa so this wasn't horrible. If you really want some Indian food order takeout and ask for spicy or ask them to make it to cater south Asians and they'll make it like that. So that's the good of this place. For south Asians wouldn't recommend the buffet. Non south Asians love this place and considering the location I can understand why their food taste the way it does....

Yelp
Ordered half a tray of chicken biryani for the day after Eid. The rice was very mushy and the grains were broken. More importantly, there was no meat! There were barely any slivers of chicken meat. The biryani was definitely not fresh and were discards from the bottom of the pot. Super disappointed!!!

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed today... Lancaster had such a great run with surprising me with the ethic foods but, sadly, the streak came to an today. Let me start with the atmosphere: it was great. They had live music with a man playing what I've recognized as a traditional Indian string instrument. The place looks a bit outdated but; brings out the Indian culture. Unfortunately, I got bad news from here. They give you a fried dough that's shaped like a little samosa. It's literally the same stuff that Chinese take out places give you with duck sauce so I thought that was interesting (I wouldn't eat it.. I had one for the taste and it was not good and fills your stomach with empty calories). The night was busy with both people dining in and with takeout so understandable if service is a bit slow. But... 45 min slow? It's been a long time since I had to wait that long for food. Got there at 620, ordered at 635 and food came out ~720ish. I've been to plenty of Indian restaurants... Max I waited for was 20 min maybe? So all could have been forgiven except the food... Made me cry a bit. The chicken was dry, chewy, and overcooked. The sauce was a bit bland which didn't help the case. It reminded me of pumpkin soup in terms of taste until we added extra spices that we asked for which (add salt) made things a bit better. The lamb... Oh the lamb shank... I was excited for this one because it was a"restaurant special". Description states that it was marinated overnight. The flavor however seems not to have penetrated the lamb if it was marinated. It too was overcooked and very dry... I literally had to work for my food. For a dish that's high in price, I was hoping for it to have a good amount of food but... A lot of the shank was too fatty to eat and the meat was super tough to cut/chew. I was thinking at one point of picking it up and eating it like a turkey leg but... It would have been a mess. The naan was a bit disappointing. It was more along the lines of a pita; thick and chewy. The garlic was raw due to the naan being so thick and some parts were borderline raw dough. Maybe it was a bad night??? Hoping it was a bad night for them... For food to take that long, and to come out the way it did, at that cost... Meh It's gonna be a long while before I go try again (I like to try everything twice)

Imane L.

Yelp
What a beautiful place to eat. The ambiance is so relaxing. And the food is so delightful. The flavor is so good. Each bite, I thought "oh goodness this is incredible". I'm so glad I ran into this place.

Yelp
This restaurant is authentic as far as the cuisine but it's not the best Indian food I've ever had. The food was mediocre at best. The menu said the Korma was white meat chicken but it was a mix of white and dark and the lamb biryani was not spiced like we were used to which may be a regional thing. Good points are the variety in the menu, excellent service and reasonable prices. I liked that you can request your own spice level from 1-10, 10 being fire hot. There is no alcohol but you can bring your own bottle of wine if you prefer. There is no real ambiance. It is one big room but the decor is characteristic. We were just passing through Lancaster, so we don't look to return.
google avatar

Hannah W.

Yelp
I've been eating at Taj Mahal for years, but it's been a few since my last visit. I ordered online and scheduled my pickup time - very user friendly! The spice level was on point! I'm always weary of 1-10 scales because everyone's palate is different. I forget which number I picked, but it was exactly what I was looking for. The food is consistent here, which is what brings me back.

Cheryl F.

Yelp
The Monday evening buffet is the perfect way to try the incredible food offerings at Taj Mahal!

J R.

Yelp
Had the lamb chops that were so overcooked that I could hardly eat them. I would have sent them back, but we had already waited a half hour for the dinner after ordering. My wife had a vegetarian dish which she liked.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
I'm extremely appalled by how we were treated walking in. They sit us down we ask for the regular menu because we didn't want the buffet ( it was already practically empty). They said we can order from the menu but then they denied us service, they said the kitchen is going to be too busy because we are preparing for a party for dinner. I have never experienced this in my life. Just for that I wouldn't ever return.
google avatar

Yelp
Just got take out but dang that was good. Looking forward to trying it again sometime soon. Clean place with good service.

Kimberly T.

Yelp
I used to love this place! It was one of my all time favorite restaurants. I moved away and when I came back for a visit it was terrible. The staff were unfriendly. The food on the buffet was bland, and cold. I tried every dish and none of them were well seasoned. I was super disappointed.
google avatar

Jarrod B.

Yelp
I've been coming here since 2011 and have NEVER had a single issue with ANYTHING! Has been 8yrs since I've lived here and was in town tonight on a little vacation so I took my girlfriend here for dinner. It was excellent like always. I always get the Chicken Vindaloo and she decided on the Chicken Tikka Masala along with 2 orders of naan. The dinners were soooo flavorful and the meat was fall apart tender. Naan was also hot, fresh & perfect. If you enjoy spicy food I definitely recommend the vindaloo. This place is legit and I highly recommend it. A+
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
We had the lunch buffet on the weekend. The food was tasty and a reasonable price. It could use more choices, but the ones that were there tasted good. They were a little slow on replenishing the naan. I think some customers took a ton right away everytime it was brought out. Maybe they could address that by bringing naan out to each table upon request. The service was lacking. They brought water upon being seated, then never came by to ask about drinks, refill the water, and even took a while to remove dirty plates. But overall a good affordable lunch option.
google avatar

Caitlin L.

Yelp
Not sure how authentic this Indian food is--pretty sure it's Americanized--but I enjoyed the meal regardless. Staff is hardworking & attentive; the dishes were flavorful & delicious. We ordered samosas (not pictured), chicken tandoori, & daal makhani. The entrees were good, but again, I'm sure this is super Americanized, so I would've preferred more spice & flavor. This Indian place does not compare to the ones in Philly, but for Lancaster, it's not bad at all. Seems like a popular place because the tables were all full for dinner on a Saturday. I would come here again, & try something new next time!
google avatar

Beth S.

Yelp
Had dinner with a friend on a Thursday evening. Varied menu, friendly service. We had the lamb korma with peshwari naan. Meal was delicious. Lamb was tender and flavorful. Service was prompt and friendly. Restaurant filled up quickly. We even spotted an elder Mennonite couple enjoying dinner. Just off of route 30 - easy to find. Would like to come back to try something new.
google avatar

Malini A.

Yelp
Decided to try out this restaurant since we were in this area and saw that the reviews are good. Ordered Shrimp Labardar, Kadai chicken along with naan and roti. Food was so disappointing. We ordered a medium plus spice level and it was absolutely bland. There was no taste to it - totally lacking in salt and spices. We also got a chicken tikka masala for takeout and brought back home for trying out since we had already ordered before trying our food there. It wasn't flavorful in any way - it might be Americanized Indian food. No way it is the usual Indian food. There was live sitar music being played on that weekend. Décor inside is bright and colorful, tables being covered with tablecloths. Will give one star for that.
google avatar

C R.

Yelp
Took my kid in for samosas which happen to be a favorite. Tried their mixed grill appetizer and it was both great and meh. Meaning some items were delicious and cooked perfectly while other items were simply bland and I was thankful for the chutney. Their kulfi is definitely worth the try the rus malai was a bit off for my liking. We skipped the buffet this round, but we will definitely give it a shot next time as other customers seemed to enjoy it.

Yelp
The food is amazing, and the service is wonderful!! Don't be fooled by the exterior, it's what's inside that counts. We highly recommend the lamb curry, salmon tiki masala, and really anything on the menu. Great vegan and vegetarian dishes. Enjoy the live music on Saturday night while you dine.

Yelp
I can't believe this restaurant only has 4 stars. I have dined her several times and each time the food is hot and delicious. The Taj Mahal has been in business for well over 25 years. The food is an explosion of flavor and spices. You can order it mild or spicy. My last visit we ordered several entrees so that we had leftovers to take home. It's that good. Service is always great and on certain nights they have a live sitar performer. Taj Mahal is also BYOB with no fee. Looking for something new for your palate? Try the curry chicken, or any number of their delicious dishes. Taj Mahal never disappoints. Always clean and rarely have to wait more than a few minutes for a table. During the week they have a lunch buffet. An excellent opportunity to sample some dishes.

Cheez I.

Yelp
This was an awesome place to eat any time. The service was excellent, they provided crackers and scented hand towels, wonderful samosas, 10/10 mango lassi, there were great vibes, the dishes were clean and glasses fancy, the tablecloths and decor were nice, the naan was very delicious, and the dishes were phenomenal and we had a great time. The only thing is that the mild dishes were a tad sweet but just order moderate spice or a spicier dish like the vindaloo (which was also very tasty).

Yelp
We were visiting from Montana where Indian food basically doesn't exist... this place is so so good that we came back for a second dinner on our trip!! I've had Indian all over the country and this place is top on my list... in Pennsylvania of all places!!

Falon W.

Yelp
went there for buffet at 2pm on a saturday. sign said they close at 3. felt very uncomfortable because they kept staring at us practically waiting for us to be done. at 2:25 the guy who was cleaning up plates came over to us and very rudely said "go up and get more now. we are cleaning up. we close now" the person I was with said "the sign says u close at 3.. it's 2:32." he aggressively answered with "we close now and we are out at 3" felt rushed and so uncomfortable will never be back.

Yelp
My first time here, offering a lunch buffet for $11.99, it was delicious! Constant flow of people on a Monday at lunch, saw lots of take out traffic. It's in a strip mall just off 741, lots of parking. I used to love Passage to India in Harrisburg, this is closer & I will be back!

Yelp
Would miss it if you don't know the area but it is worth every minute of travel to eat here. Atmosphere was quiet and homey on a rainy Sunday evening. There was a gentleman playing sitar for music and a few families. I got a soup, and a level 3 spicy chicken tikamasala. My boyfriend got lamb and some of their hot chai tea. THE SOUP was savory, salty, not overpowering with a lentil wafer that was like a giant potato chip. Delicious. THE CHICKEN AND LAMB were perfection- my chicken was stained with the curry so you know it was done right. A three in spice was the perfect amount of heat to enhance flavor without blasting your tastebuds...the rice that came with it was impeccable, fluffy fragrant and the perfect amount . Lastly, THE TEA WAS ABSOLUTELY DREAMY. Smooth, spiced, perfect temperature, creamy and sweet. One pot had enough for three full cups so you could order one to share. Wish I had photos but we were too busy eating! Will be back again for sure!

Yelp
This place is incredible! One of the best hidden gems in Lancaster! I go at least once a week and have never had a bad experience, the buffet monday night is the best deal in Lancaster. The food is delicious, service is impeccable, and staff is very warm and friendly.

Yelp
Foodgasm !!!!!!! I've lived within ten miles of this place for almost three years and just discovering this place now? Shame on me. I'll go stand in the corner. So first off, light, delicious, perfectly spiced Indian food. Wow. Vegans. Take note! Everything vegan is clearly marked. This makes life so easy. Omnivores. Tons of selection for you as well. This will be a new regular place. Heck yesss
google avatar

Jenny G.

Yelp
Got the chicken biryani. Wasn't impressed. You could tell the chicken was old and rubbery. Biryani was very bland no flavor. Not made for desi people.

Chiara Q.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered takeout from here last night using a third party food delivery service. We both were very disappointed. starting off, we ordered two separate meals which both came with rice, the restaurant packed our rice together in the same container. we both ordered a curry, flavor was bland, chicken was tough and dry.. nothing tasted fresh. And the portion size was extremely small for them to be charging almost $20 per entree. On top of all that we ordered a marinated chicken appetizer which the restaurant describes as "skewers" they were more like small meatballs that they charge $10 for and only came with 4! I did enjoy my garlic nann bread. we won't be returning as we felt our dollar was not equal to the food quality or quantity.

Yelp
I started coming to Taj Majal in 2005 when I moved to Lancaster. Moved away in 2011, but still came here almost every time I visited. I am moving back to Lancaster next month and am so glad Taj Mahal is still open! This is one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to anywhere. A depth of spices that is amazing and a great variety on the menu. The naan are outstanding. I recommend the pakora and pappadum, plus chutneys as starters. The Saag Paneer is the best I've ever had, with lots of tender bites of paneer. And these are the only folks in central PA who can make a great cup of chai! Best buffet ever! Can't wait to get back!

Yelp
This place was kinda "meh" as far as Indian cuisine goes in my opinion. It might have held a Tibetan element almost, but not my real area of expertise. So here's what I would offer as solutions to this fine place of business because they certainly do provide good service for the most part during these times so let's be grateful and exclude it for taste-purposes only? 1. The oil used may either be potentially mixed, expired, or just plain lower tier quality as it was noticeable in the fried onion bhaji (and for that I would also suggest bigger portion size (fat-american style)) 2. I would offer again larger portions of naan, but also fluffier if at all possible? 3. I would do larger-grain sized basmati rice. The meals were well proportioned and delicious. Thank you for your generosity.

Yelp
We have tried other Indian restaurants in such diverse locations as Hershey, Pennsylvania and Memphis, Tennessee. Taj Mahal is the winner, hands-down! Their food is exquisitely good. Their service is just excellent. It is an extremely clean restaurant, both inside and out. We tried Taj Mahal as the last restaurant in our visit. By far, it is the very most tasty food of the Indian type that I have ever experienced. I don't know if a family runs the place, or even who the manager is. All I believe, is that if you try it,Then you're going to love it.

Yelp
We went for the buffet around 1:30 on a Saturday. There were about 5 other tables, but everything was calm and peaceful, unlike your typical buffet situation. The buffet is not huge here, but every single thing was delicious. We spent 14.99 a person and it was well worth it. It was all mildly spiced and tasty. This is the first Indian buffet I have been to in awhile and we were very pleased. Staff is relatively inattentive, but they do keep the buffet full and fresh. Will absolutely be back!

Yelp
I usually don't give bad reviews. Also, I want local businesses to survive during this unusual time. However, the quality of food we took out today was unforgivable. This restaurant used to be so good, but what happened? Tandoori chicken was very dry. Aloo gobi was watery and flavorless. Baigan Burtha did not have much flavor, either. Frankly it was one of the worst Indian food I had. Hope they will bring the quality back to what it used to be.

Yelp
This place is authentic as it gets. They had live music and the waiters were very educated and gave lots of recommendations. I got the chicken vindaloo which was awesome. I honestly didn't think it was that spicy and if you're having issues with heat, just ask for a side of yogurt. My friends got the lamb biryani, daal makhani, and the combo naan. The combo naan was enough to share with 4 people. They had refills for rice and options for heat. If you can handle spicy I'd go for 6+. If you're not into spicy I'd go for a 1 or 2. They rank from 1-10 and the vindaloo is the spiciest. I personally didn't think it was that bad. We are all definitely going to meet back here. I hear their buffet is amazing! Can't wait to bring more friends here~
