Taj Mahal Restaurant

It was supposed to be a romantic dinner for us but it missed the mark… We ordered a salad, 2 main dishes (paneer butter masala and chicken butter masala) and a rice plate (mushroom pilav) and 2 Garlic naans. For drink the Mango lassie and 1 cola. We paid 130 leva, approximately. NO MUSIC - we could hear everything that everyone was talking about at their tables. So no ambiance at all. I felt like we were eating at a cafeteria. I was expecting the indian music, come on! CLEANLINESS - the table was set with a mat and a plate. No cutleries. They served our drinks and salad, and still no cutleries. We had to remind them. The glass of my lassie did not look clean. There was something stuck in the inside part. And the cutleries they brought us (after we asked) didn’t look very clean either. FOOD PORTIONS: the dishes look small but actually it will be quite filling. The rice dish was quite big. The bread was nice but I’ve had better. Couldn’t taste the garlic much. The mango lassie drink portion is tiny! Literally a small glass. Come on, be generous! Give us a big glass for this price! Yes it was delicious and finished it in three sips! DECORATION: some wall paintings looking extremely worn out and ugly. Walls are a nice pink color. They need to upgrade their decoration badly. Come on guys, in india there are really nice decorations. Invest a bit! Make it beautiful! Overall, i felt it was overpriced, not clean, no atmosphere, I doubt I’ll return. For the owners: message me and I’ll let you know what you need to fix. Because it’s definitely fixable! The food is quite yummy.

The food was delicious and we ordered chicken madras, one portion of rice and one garlic naan and it was enough for the both of us. Alex the waiter has done a great job and it was nice talking to someone who actually speaks English.

Just came to eat Indian food in Sofia. Food taste like sweet , I asked for one green chili , they refused to give me but I have buy one portion(4 pcs) of green chili. I explained I need one only because of put less spice. She telling me rest take into hotel. Sooo funny. Good price is soo expensive. They open this just generate money, not for service. Don’t deserve good reviews at all.

Located in the central part of the city, it has a lot of heritage and may be the first Indian restaurant in Sofia. It has three floors and looks quite original. The waitress was extremely helpful and nice, and all her recommendations were very good. The bathroom needed some attention, as one of the sinks was clocked and looked quite bad. In general, the interior seems to need some refreshment.

The Taj Mahal - I rare amd wonder experience to find such a good Indian restaurant in Bulgaria. Great service, delicious cuisine, with so much attention to detail. Second time here but not the last. Thank you so much.

Great food. One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. All the chicken plates we got were amazing. I would definitely recommend the tika massala and from the tandoori chicken the one with the beets, I don't remember the name. My only complain is that the dishes weren't spicy even though on the many they had like a spice rating and we got stuff with level 2 spice but we didn't feel a thing. Other than that, great food, maybe a bit expensive for Bulgaria but still worth it.

Despite the fancy exterior, the quality of the food didn’t match. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and it was super salty. I couldn’t taste anything else. The price is quite expensive as well for the food they’re serving.

I came here as a solo traveller and was literraly looking for amazing indian food. I felt so lucky that I came here and amazing food which was so delicious and vibes of the restaurant are also too amazing. Must visit
