Taj Mahal Restaurant

Located in the central part of the city, it has a lot of heritage and may be the first Indian restaurant in Sofia. It has three floors and looks quite original. The waitress was extremely helpful and nice, and all her recommendations were very good. The bathroom needed some attention, as one of the sinks was clocked and looked quite bad. In general, the interior seems to need some refreshment.

Great food. One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. All the chicken plates we got were amazing. I would definitely recommend the tika massala and from the tandoori chicken the one with the beets, I don't remember the name. My only complain is that the dishes weren't spicy even though on the many they had like a spice rating and we got stuff with level 2 spice but we didn't feel a thing. Other than that, great food, maybe a bit expensive for Bulgaria but still worth it.

The food was decent, but not quite what we expected. The Chana Masala wasn’t spicy at all, and unfortunately, the staff didn’t ask how spicy we’d like our dishes. That was okay for me, but my partner usually enjoys very spicy food which was actually the reason we chose this Indian restaurant. His Masala turned out even milder than my dish. Overall, it felt a bit overpriced, so we probably won’t come back

Not my kind of food, definitely, but it wasn't too bad. Probably would not visit myself, just the staff somehow expected I know what to order which wasn't very helpful or settling. I ate the most popular not-too spiced meals and still had a hard time. Probably the chicken would be better with a sauce. The most tasty part was the bread! Presentation was good. You can tell where the restaurant is just with your nose.

It is not my first time that I had an excellent dining experience thanks to the waitress Anastasia. She was welcoming and was attentive without being overbearing. Anastasia knew the menu well and made great recommendations, especially when it came to combining dishes. Every request was handled quickly and with a smile. It’s clear that she truly cares about providing top service. Thanks to Anastasia the experience was enjoyable. Definitely be back again.

I ordered the Chicken Curry with Butter Naan, and it was absolutely fantastic! The curry was served hot and incredibly spicy — just the way I love it. The flavors were rich and bold, even better than many Indian restaurants I've tried back in India. The Butter Naan was soft, fresh, and the perfect complement to the curry. The staff were excellent — friendly, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable. This place is a hidden gem and a must-try for anyone who loves authentic Indian food with a real kick!

The food is very good, we are always happy with it! Delicious! The only minus is the hostess..not only did SHE made a mistake for our reservation but made no effort in fixing it, saying sorry or cooperating. More stood there, blank face. So our experience started with that but thankfully our waitress was insanely polite and hospitable and the food insanely good!

Spicy beyond imagination. NOT GOOD Being an Indian I know the spice Indian food should have. These guys are pouring in tons of chilli flakes on everything even if it’s not needed. Before placing order, we asked if we could speak to chef… they refused. See the picture of onion salad we ordered.. it was fully of red chillies.. when we asked for plain onion, they refused to change and charged us 5 euros for these onion s which we didn’t (rather couldn’t) eat. THEY ADDED SO MICH COLOUR in food that my hands became REDDDD Curry of chicken is also flooded with chilli flakes. Place is good but we had a horrible experience and no care shown for guests if they are unable to eat food due to spice.
