My recent stay at this hotel in Mumbai was deeply disappointing, and far below the standards I expect—especially from a property associated with a reputed hospitality group.
To begin with, the breakfast was frankly appalling. The spread was extremely limited compared to other Taj group hotels and even other 5-star hotels in Mumbai. The fruit and pastries did not look fresh at all, which is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that markets itself as premium.
The situation only worsened when I found a cockroach in my room. For a 5-star hotel, this is unbelievable and entirely inexcusable. It immediately raised concerns about hygiene and overall maintenance.
Adding to the frustration, my room was described as non-smoking, yet it reeked of cigarette smoke. The smell was persistent and unpleasant, making the stay even more uncomfortable.
The reception staff were another major disappointment. One member in particular was unruly, impolite, and shockingly unprofessional. While speaking to a staff member via the intercom, the call was abruptly disconnected without explanation. I have never encountered such disrespect in any hotel, anywhere.
Even the room design lacked basic consideration. There was virtually no soundproofing, and the noise from the lifts carried straight into the room at all hours. For a hotel of this category, this level of structural oversight is baffling.
Overall, my stay felt like a cascade of issues that no guest should have to deal with. This hotel needs a serious reevaluation of its service quality, staff training, cleanliness, and infrastructure. Right now, it falls far short of the standard it claims to represent
After reading all other negative reviews, I also expect an automated ‘bot like’ response from the general manager. There will be no actual remediation or consideration made.
