Takamaka Rum Distillery

We did the free guided tour, which lasted almost 50 minutes, but it was incredibly interesting! The guide was really great, and kept the whole group engaged. The distillery itself is beautiful, and after the guided tour we paid for the rum tasting, which was fantastic. Great way to learn more about rum!

We had a great time at Takamaka Rum Distillery. Unfortunately we couldn’t join the full tour because it takes around two hours and we didn’t have enough time that day, but we did the rum tasting and really enjoyed it — a fun way to try different styles and learn a bit about the local rum. The surrounding area and the little park are very interesting to walk around, with a nice relaxed vibe. Sadly, the turtle area was under renovation during our visit, so we couldn’t see it properly, but it’s a good reason to come back next time. Overall, definitely worth a stop while exploring the island!

Fantastic place! History and today's party scene are mixed here in such a way that you have to be there to feel it! You can get to know this incredibly bubbly and lively company, brand, and the philosophy behind it on a wonderful and free tour. The guided tour is simply fascinating! And the tasting is literally a sin to miss! Heavenly flavors and wonderful people make this place truly special. And the environment is actually paradise on earth. If you are lucky enough to visit the island of Mahé, it would be a sin to miss this wonderful place! If we ever return to Seychelles, we 100% want to experience this again! I highly and wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

Really enjoyed visiting. Cost about €30 in a cab from Victoria. But free to enter and for the tour. The gardens, bar and shop are free to explore. Only this you pay for is the tasting which is worth doing to try 6 rums! Really informative and friendly staff and we really enjoyed our visit. Time it so you get there for a tour and then stay for a few cocktails after!

The staff at Takamaka Rum Distillery were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It was truly a unique and quiet experience to taste the rum. The flavors are rich, and it’s definitely a must-try for anyone visiting the island. I highly recommend taking the tour and tasting – you won’t be disappointed!

This place is gorgeous 😍 We did 2 different rum tastings and shared. Really interesting unique flavors. Very good. Beautiful grounds to walk around. Great gift shop!! 🎁 We really enjoyed this stop!!

After an adventurous bus ride from Victoria central bus station (e.g. line #5 to Baie Lazare - don’t forget to buy bus tickets in advance @ some supermarket) we took the 11-o’clock guided tour. Very interesting from the beginnings of a sugar cane plantation with slavery to today’s modern distillery with very clever and emotional marketing and merchandise. Due to high temperatures (we preferred to have a nice day and drink in the evening, even though we came by bus and wouldn’t have to struggle with left-hand driving) we skipped the tasting, bought a few bottles to bring them home 😎 and finally left for Victoria and Beau Vallon again. Don’t miss this excursion, you will meet nice people, see an interesting rum production and have a very nice day ! Cheers 🍹
