I went there with my husband, traditional Japanese charcoal grilling. Food was delicious, especially chicken and tofu skewer. Staff were friendly, but when I was there at 1730, toilet floor was flooded, it was fixed before I finished the meal. We spent approx 11000 yen. I went there again on Jun 19, 2025 with my parents in law, my husband and my 6 month old son. Food was still very delicious. There is no air conditioning in summer days, but they provided quite a number of fans to ventilate and cool down. What’s even surprised me that they had set up a little bed for my baby to sleep while we enjoyed our food.

Visited at 6pm without reservation. The staffs can organize a table for us. It’s an unique experience to have grilled food like this. Food is delicious as well.

The food was absolutely delicious! We got the Aso beef set and wow so tender and soft. The miso soup was also a highlight and it seems the full menu was curated perfectly for a charcoal cook top. I also got the hot sake in bamboo shoot which i recommend too. Ive had alot of japanese bbq spots but the charcoal elevates it to a whole new level. The service was excellent, I cannot thank the lovely ladies enough, we didn't have a booking and they were very busy so they decided to open up a new room to accommodate us! The atmosphere was so cosy and authentic Japanese style seating with the thatched ceiling. Thank you so much for having us, so worth the visit!!

Nice atmosphere here, saving ancient country decorations. If you can’t sit on the floor, they were very thoughtful and offered chair for elderly. The food itself was very simple, and your own cooking skills determined your outcome. Rice ball was good. I recommend the beef set since it was easier than chicken to cook.

Dengaku is a local farmer's cuisine - BBQ skewers with miso sauce。 This restaurant is one of the most popular Dengaku resto. Although we were served walk-in, apparently they work with reservations. There are a few meal sets - Aka Beef course, Vegetarian course and a Chicken one. Appetizers, soups and standard BBQ skewers of Tofu and Konyaku were included with the courses. We were shown a 'station' that required sitting on floor - which is quite a numbing experience for us City Folks, but its Well Worth it. The food is great, the experience is precious, the rustic atmosphere is magical and they really try to help out. Aside from the Aka Beef don, I don't think anyone visiting MinamiAso should miss this experience and a hearty meal!

come here for the vibes (and you will smell like smoke after), the food is grilled on the sides so i feel like the fire was not super strong to cook through all the skewers. nonetheless, great meal and sauce but will note the meats, especially the chicken, were a bit on the tougher side

The service was amazing. My partner and I ate here and both only speak a little Japanese. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They gave us an English menu so we knew what we were ordering. We got a beef and a chicken set menu. The food was delicious. I particularly loved the vegetable soup. It was a fun experience cooking the food ourselves over the hot coals. I would definitely recommend if you're wanting a decently priced meal 10/10
