Beautiful park, especially during spring when the cherry blossom trees are at their best. Went on a Sunday when families play and picnic. This is also a great place for fantastic street food. Very enjoyable visit.

It is a bit puzzling that there aren't many people here, it is such a nice garden. You will find a shrine and can buy souvenirs. If you bring bread, you can feed large koi fish and cute turtles.

Suggesting to walk from Takaoka station directly to enjoy the street view.
The another reason is the train duration between the two lcations is too long.
If you come from KANAZAWA, you must take the Shinkensen with JR 4-day pass to Sintakaoka station. You can save much money, and then taking the train to Stakaoka station.

This incredibly beautiful park, is only a few minutes walk from the famous Takaoka Daibutsu (Great Buddha) and is both free, and open 24 hours. It was once the site of the Takaoka Castle however there is almost no evidence of the castle remaining. It is most definately worth a visit.
