The 8 Best Walking Tours in Paris (Updated 2025)

"I think Take Walks is the best tour company in Paris — I’ve done five of their tours and loved them all. What makes them stand out is the better access they get: you can skip the line, go before or after other tours so you often have the space to yourself, and the guides are fun and knowledgeable. Their tours are reasonably priced, and they can get you behind the scenes at some of the city’s best attractions." - Matthew Kepnes

The Best Walking Tours in Florence (Updated 2025)

"I rely on Take Walks as my go-to tour company in Italy because they offer access to places that no one else gets and feature incredibly knowledgeable guides; I always have fun and learn a ton on their tours, I can’t recommend them enough, and their VIP David & Duomo tour provides exclusive, skip-the-line access without the crowds while their Best of Florence tour covers the city’s highlights in a fun and educational three hours." - Matthew Kepnes

Ever since my Closing Time at the Louvre tour with Adam, I have recommended this tour to so many people. He was an incredible tour guide, full of insightful information about the art and history of the Louvre, and knew how to deal with the crowds and give us expert guidance to appreciate the art. Plus, he was funny and engaging, and has an education in art restoration—he was the best guide I could’ve asked for! I will be definitely booking tours with this company again. It made my time at the Louvre so much more rewarding!

Just back from Paris. A friend recommended the “Skip-the-Line Louvre Highlights Tour.” It was one of the best tours we’ve ever taken. Adam, our guide for the day, was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging and skilled at what he does. I can honestly say we walked away knowing more about the major works at the Louvre - like how to tell what’s original vs replica vs repaired piece. As well as really interesting facts and stories about the pieces - and did I mention Adam is really funny, too. He also made sure we had the best view of the master pieces. Best tour ever! #teamadam

DO NOT BOOK WITH WALKS FRANCE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Save yourself the stress, disappointment, and wasted money. We booked the “Louvre Museum Skip-the-Line Highlights Tour with Mona Lisa” tour with Walks France and showed up exactly on time and at the correct meeting point, yet they left without us. After standing at the designated location, we waited anxiously for 15 minutes, then began frantically searching around the outside of the Louvre, hoping we'd somehow find our guide. Spoiler: we never did. Even worse, we had to purchase our own Louvre tickets on top of the $140 we had already paid this company. Before they come on here to "correct" this review with their rehearsed response claiming we were late: WE WERE NOT, I promise you. We were there when and where we were supposed to be. They are misrepresenting the situation to justify keeping our money. We called three different phone numbers over nine times trying to reach someone anyone from Walks. We got zero support, zero direction, and absolutely no follow-up from our tour guide, which is honestly shocking for a tour that costs this much. If we were truly "missing," wouldn't a professional guide at least try to reach us? Eventually, we found another Walks guide inside the Louvre (not ours), who told us that the company was a mess today, a manager had called out, etc. That may explain their chaos, but it doesn't excuse our experience. It's not our fault their internal operations fell apart. We paid for a tour, showed up on time, and were abandoned. We spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to get a refund. One of the managers even admitted they'd review the case and get back to us. Well, they did twice- both with a flat-out refusals to refund us. To anyone reading this: There are plenty of excellent tour companies operating at the Louvre. Do not risk your money or time with Walks. Their disorganization, lack of accountability, and refusal to make things right speak volumes. Steer clear. You deserve better.

Our family of 4 booked a skip the line tour of the louvre through viator. This was our first time to Paris and were told to use the train system. While we did get better at the train system as our trip went along, the morning of our tour we ended up getting on a wrong train which caused us to be running late. We were suppose to meet the group at 9:00AM and arrived two minutes late at 9:02 and our tour group had already left us. We frantically tried to find them but they were already gone. Take Walks claimed to have waited for us at the Arc until 9:05 which is a lie. We spoke to three groups and we were not with any of them. We went inside and spoke to an additional two groups and we were also not with them. We then requested a refund and they said we were a no show since we were two minutes late. To make matters worse the tour tickets we purchased could not gain us access to the museum on our own so we had to spend an additional $200 to just get into the museum. We will never book a tour with this company again. We think the tour left before 9:00 because we spoke to every group under the arc at 9:02 and inside the building and none were our group. Such a waste of money and shocking they called us a no show after being two minutes late which I think is very harsh. I would not recommend this company because when you are in a foreign country anything can happen and they will not wait or care why you are not there. But hey, they will take your money very quickly. So disappointing.

I booked a Louvre tour with this company two months in advance—it was the experience I was most looking forward to on our trip. My group planned carefully to make sure everything was in place. Then, the day before the tour, they abruptly canceled. No real apology, just an offer to reschedule after we were already scheduled to leave Paris. Completely useless. Later, I contacted Viator and learned that it was Take Walks Tours who dropped the ball. They didn’t purchase the Louvre tickets in advance like they were supposed to. That failure on their end ruined what should have been one of the highlights of our trip. This wasn’t a minor change—it threw off our plans and left us scrambling with no time to find an alternative. Do not recommend. Don’t even risk it. If you’re planning your trip around experiences like this, their poor planning could easily wreck your itinerary and ruin your entire Paris trip

My family and I really enjoyed our Louvre tour with Bel. She is the art history professor that I always wished for. She is very excited to share her knowledge of the art in the Louvre. We did the evening tour and it was great. The only bummer is that the gift shops close promptly at 9pm when the museum closes on Wednesday night (and probably on the other night that they close later) so we weren't able to shop. But we did learn a lot about everything we were able to see. The Louvre is the largest museum in the world, so it was great to have a tour guide who could show us so many important and interesting works of art. If we were to show up there by ourselves, I'm sure we would have gotten lost and just sat down and gave up at some point. When we went to Italy in 2019 I booked three tours with Walks of Italy and they were great, which was why I wanted to book this tour with Walks when we visited Paris. Merci Bel!

Excellent tour guide and tour. My only two recommendations would be to have headsets with two ear buds - I think it would be easier to hear. Also, they may want to consider changing the name from Closing Time at the Louvre. We thought the museum would be less crowded given this name. Boy were we wrong. The place was mobbed. Overall thought excellent guide and tour with lots of information on several of the more popular pieces in the Lourve.

We booked a Louvre tour with Take Walks for July 17th months in advance, flying all the way from the U.S. to make this dream visit happen. The morning before the tour, we received an email from Take Walks canceling our reservation and rescheduling us to a different day—a day we would no longer be in Paris. No option to choose a new time, no real apology, and no effort to make it right. When I called customer service, they blamed the Louvre for not issuing enough tickets. However, Viator confirmed this was false—the issue was due to Take Walks mishandling the reservation. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Being notified less than 24 hours in advance left us zero options to rebook. Talk Walks would not add us to other tours that they will be conducting during our stay because they said they were full. I would absolutely avoid Take Walks as a tour operator. If I could give negative stars, I would. I never leave negative reviews as a reference. This is my first. Total failure in service, accountability, and professionalism.
