8 new global dining concepts in Singapore that will transport you to another location - SilverKris

"A Holland Village neighbourhood Japanese restaurant that draws steady crowds for its hearty, flavour-forward sushi rolls — highlights include the Mexican roll (shrimp, cream cheese and tempura bits) and the Hulk (ebi tempura and baked eel with crab salad and avocado). Other standouts are aromatic garlic fried rice with pronounced wok hei and a balanced mentaiko pasta with juicy prawns. The space features homely wooden interiors, warm lighting and shelves of Japanese spirits; the drinks list ranges from quirky tipples like a milk-based Shiroi Chardonnay and a black-tea shochu called Little Kiss to an extensive sake selection served in choice of cups." - Rachel Eva Lim

Food quality of this Japanese restaurant has to be among the worst I have tried. The dishes tasted like they came from the freezer or packet. For example, the yakitori was barely grilled and was served after drenching it in sweet sauce. Even the frozen beer was served in a disposable cup.

My experience at Takeshi-San was fantastic! We went last friday and we ordered the Dassai 45 and the salmon truffle pasta, both of which were absolutely delicious. The staff provided amazing service, especially Jermie. She was incredibly attentive and made us feel so welcome. As new customers, she even gave us a 10% discount on our sake order, which was a lovely surprise. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and outstanding customer service!

Ain't a bad place for drinks and $5 food. Most of the items on the $5 menu came from frozen premade that's why the price. Love the varieties though. The beer was cold, the maki was okish, but all the sauces were pretty bad. Bitter and some weird spices mustard for the fried soft bone and other deep fried food comes with butter with a sprinkle of chilli powder? Didn't try the main but would recommend for the drink and atmosphere. Some of the service staff were rather inexperienced.

Nice atmosphere for catch up with friends. Good categorisation of menu items by price, makes decision making quick when you catch up and food may not be the #1 priority. That said food was decent, staff were helpful and friendly. Had a bottle of sparkling, high balls, beers and sashimi plus oyster. Decent pricing for the amount of drinks and food ordered. Fresh and succulent oysters :)

I really appreciated the live music, it made the dinner much more enjoyable. The food was ok - I thought it was izakaya food but the $5-$8 selections were more like snacks or side dishes. The scallops did not taste amazingly fresh but it was still nice. The shitake probably would’ve been nicer if it was more grilled. The sugar on the chirashi don was interesting, although I prefer without. The tako was very salty although I ate the whole thing, i think it could’ve been less salty.

A great Izakaya in Holland Village! If you go during happy hour with a group of 3 or more, a beer tower would definitely be a good idea! The interior is quite well-decorated and cozy. The staff is very friendly and will provide suggestions. I particularly liked the Fried Soft Shell Crab, which pairs well with a pint of cold, crisp Saporro or Asahi! There's a good selection of options for appetizers that can be shared. Their option for main course is rather limited, so this place is best for brunch or evening snacking, in my opinion. However, I really liked this place, so, for me, Takeshi-San warrants repeat visits!

Arrived slightly earlier for my reservations and was allowed to enter as there are empty table. The food is extremely delicious and I love it a lot. The sashimi is flesh and are thick slice, worth the price that we pay for. I will definitely return for a future visit.

[BURRPLE 1-FOR-1 SUSHI ROLL] Decided to pop by to try Takeshi-san as I remembered seeing quite a bit of publicity on it on social media. Plus, Burpple has a 1-for-1 sushi roll deal here so why not. They have a $5 drinks for Happy Hour 5-7pm daily as well as all-day $5/$6/$8 bar bites so we started of with those. We had the Umeshu, Suntory Highball, and the Lime Sui Gin Soda for drinks which were pretty okay for their price. As for sides, the Mozarella Sticks were lightly-battered with a nice cheese pull, made even better by the accompanying spicy sauce. Chawanmushi and Crispy Salmon Skin weren't worth it, can skip. Now for the Burpple Sushi Rolls, you have a separate menu of 4 sushi rolls to choose from. We had the Spicy Tuna Roll and Salmon Teriyaki Roll. Honestly, nothing much to shout about; just average and I'm pretty sure they were specifically made to be costed at $10 each, otherwise I don't think it's worth $20. We also ordered the Garlic Fried Rice with Wagyu Cubes. Fried rice was nice, lots of garlic flavours within, but there were clumps of plain white rice scattered throughout. Wagyu cubes were so-so and just forgettable - not what I would've expected from wagyu. Furthermore, our wagyu fried rice took so long to arrive and when we got the staff to check, she told us that it was sent to the wrong table by mistake. Did no one realise or said anything? Welps, at last they gave a 30% discount for the wait time. Overall, don;t think I would return.
