The staff here are very nice. I have never tried their grab and go section but I order from their menu quite often. Their sashimi is always fresh, and I think the karaage and prawn tempura here are the best in Richmond.

I like coming for something quick, healthy, and affordable. The quality of their food is really good. My favourite is the Battera & Roll set and their rice bentos which they have so many varieties of. You really cant go wrong as they have something for everyone. The service is really nothing special, you pick your items and pay. The thing I don't get is why they ask for tip when all they do is charge you. You have to ask for chopsticks which should be given by default. This place is a takeout establishment not fine dining.

Great place for Japanese deli/ take out foods. Wide variety to cover most anything that you can think of, including sushi, rice ball, lunch box, sandwich, fried, and sweets. Notables for me were pumpkin pudding, house made dorayaki, and fruits sando. Their foods were home cooking style, something you would eat at a regular Japanese household. For that, they were a bit pricy but it was justified for the variety and convenience imho. Located next to Safeway on No.1 road, Richmond. Plenty of free parking spots. Very busy around lunch time. Take out only with no seating area.

Very disappointed — not fresh anymore I’ve been a loyal customer of Takeya Sushi for many years, but the quality has gone downhill. The fruit sandwich was definitely not fresh — both the fruit and the bread tasted old, as if it was not made on the same day. The taste clearly showed it was not freshly made. The sushi was even worse — I had to throw it away after one bite. The rice tasted stale and lacked the flavor it used to have. It’s really sad to see how much the quality has dropped. The owner clearly can’t maintain the standards anymore, and it’s driving long-time customers away. I won’t be going back again.

Amazing place to get Japanese food and at a good price. They have good collection of rolls, Bento, rice bowls, nigiri, and more. You can also order their standard menu items and combos at the counter such as udon and sushi roll combos. The shop is tucked away in the seafair shopping centre but there's plenty of parking. Definitely come by and check this place out!

i do not understand all the highly rated reviews. this place is waaaaaay over priced and gives out tiny portions. the bad review from 8 years ago atill stands til today. like look at that rice in the don. twenty bucks!!!

I love this place. Im so glad I found it. From Victoria, and we only have a Fujiya that's somewhat similar. This place is all take out style, and I absolutely loved everything I tried. Crab croquettes were amazing. The onigiri is delicious. The curry rich and creamy and all Maki 10/10. Will be back.

I love this place. They have such quality bento boxes, which are so convenient to bring to work or to have as a quick lunch or dinner. This place used to be a restaurant but after Covid, they switched to just providing takeout, which I think actually works better. They're constantly busy and I absolutely love the quality of the food. It's definitely pricier than other places and the portion sizes aren't huge, but it's enough for me and I don't mind spending a bit more because I know that their food is always fresh and healthy.

Returned to takeya to their now take out and deli style store and grabbed a few items for lunch. We ordered the: West Coast Roll - gigantic 3 rolls filled with all the seafood and fish options you might imagine. Although the price is quite high for only three pieces, there was scallop, ika, eel and salmon among other things. I really liked this roll with a great rice texture and ratio. Aburi Salmon Combo - three seared salmon nigiri which again has perfect rice despite being ready-made along with a salmon maki. Price again is high but everything was on point. Mini Bento Box - this was a great deal for under $10 with a smaller but sufficient amount of rice with a piece of chicken karaage, tempura, ajifry and some ground pork. Although it was quite small, one could be full on this small box and the variety is what I thrive on! Overall, a great place for grab and go sushi with a higher price tag and out farther from central Richmond but easily a place I'd go again!

When I'm around Boyd, I always drop by to pick up some of their take out food items--good value and made fresh daily. Super friendly and very helpful staff. Just found out that this place tends to get busy towards closing, as they discount what they couldn't sell that day--perfect for my work lunch box.

My friend C recommended this place. They don't disappoint. They only have to go food items. I heard that in the past or before Covid, it was a sit down restaurant but they got smart and changed the entire concept to a To-go restaurant. Service was great here. They have different variety selection. Everything is good quality. Because of its location only locals know about this Japanese To-go place. I got one of their bento boxes: chicken teriyaki with rice. It was very tasty. I came here with my friend H and she got a Tuna roll and a Tom Yum Cup Noodle. I have never seen this Cup Noodle flavor elsewhere. They have some unique Japanese items too that you can't get elsewhere. She liked her sushi roll. I like how it is packaged the seaweed separate from the rice to ensure that when you eat it the seaweed is nice and crispy. Overall, I highly recommend coming to this place and giving it a try. Note: There is no dine in here after Covid. They replaced all the tables and chairs with fridges.

I had noticed all the people going to this strip mall spot. I stepped in to see a few coolers full of sushi and bento boxes. I noticed they had sashimi boxes for Christmas Eve and I was going to a small dinner party where sushi rolls were the main. I ordered a $50 box and thought hey that will be a nice appetizer. Well, I picked up a small box of small thin pieces of mealy fish. Not what I was expecting and a total disappointment. When I pointed out that this was not right. The cashier said he would ask if it was right and he came back and said "sorry but this is all".

Ok taste, not good value. The restaurant is next to a Safeway in a shopping complex near Steveston. They used to have a dine-in option but now it's all take out. We came recently to get takeout to eat at Steveston Park. For take out, the prices are still quite high and I can't say the food is that memorable. I've had better tasting take-out for less around Vancouver. We ordered from the freshly made options: - Pork Katsu Curry ($16.95) - This was good. It wasn't great. Its your typical curry. The pork was very crispy/deep fried. Pricey even if it's not take-out, but this is take-out. - Seafood Aburi Roll ($19.45) - This had seared tuna/salmon on a california roll. It tasted fishy and there was no aburi/smoky flavor to it. For the 8pcs, it was not worth it; I would not get this again. Food was prepared and ready within 10min. From the ready-made take out option, we got a Salmon Mayo Onigiri ($3.95). Its nice they have a large variety of onigiris to choose from.

This place has been around for a long time but I didn't have a chance to visit till now. We came at around 11am and it was well stocked. They were still bringing things out but most spots were already filled with food. They have so many items if you have problems deciding what to eat, don't come here. You will be in here for HOURS. Believe me I wanted to get everything like bentos, pudding, sushi etc. But I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it all. We ended up getting amaebi shrimp, yakisoba set, mini unagi don, croquette sandwich and fruits with white chocolate. The amaebi shrimp comes with sweet shrimp, scallop and marinated tuna. This was definitely worth it for 10$. The shrimp was really sweet and so was the scallop. The yakisoba set has yakisoba as well as glutinous rice and chicken karaage. If we had microwaved this, this would have tasted amazing. Even without microwaving it was already delicious. The glutinous rice was perfectly cooked and flavoured well with pieces of chicken. The yakisoba was really addictive with notes of sweet and sour. The chicken karaage wasn't crispy but it wasn't dry or overly coated with batter either. The mini unagi don was worth it. It doesn't look like a lot of unagi but if you want to try everything like me this set is perfect. The unagi was so well grilled. It had that burnt carmalized flavour and the unagi was crunchy and had a bite to it. It wasn't overly sweet and the rice went so well with this. I had the hardest time debating between choosing the croquette sandwich, egg sandwich or the tonkatsu sandwich and I settled on croquette sandwich since you can't find it everywhere. This had fresh cabbage in it which helped cut through the heaviness if the croquette itself. The sauce made it really addicting. I love that the croquette bread they grilled both side with butter but I wished that the milk bread they used was fluffier and a bit thicker. The fruits and white chocolate sandwich was so fluffy and made for such a perfect ending. It was a little sweet due to the white chocolate and the fruit already being sweet to begin with. The kiwi, strawberry, grape and orange were all really sweet and the fluffy bread with cream made for a satisfying finish. I would definitely go back to try their other boxes - eyeing those bentos and sushi. This will definitely become a staple on my way to Steveston from now on or just when I'm craving cheap and delicious Japanese food

A coworker who lives in Richmond recommended this place and said this is her go to for Japanese food. I can totally see why. I love the huge variety of Japanese food here. Besides the rolls and sashimi, you can get a temaki, onigiri, yakisoba, salad, desserts, snacks and so much more here. Unfortunately they removed the dine in option since the pandemic. So this is strictly a take out place. You can either get the ready made food at the cooler or you can order from the cashier for other things only on the menu. You can get tonkatsu, more sushi and rolls and udon from the menu. There is a microwave for those who want to heat up the ready made to go food. It's cheaper to get the ready made food but the options are less than the menu. I've gotten food from both and they are all good. I love the temaki and the bluefin tuna roll. I recently tried the amaebi nigiri set and that's so delicious! Amaebi is so much sweeter than ebi. This is a place I'll actually travel to from vancouver just to get food here. Really a pity I can't dine in. So I usually just buy the ready made food and go to a park to eat. The drive back to vancouver is too long for the cooked food to hold up well, especially tonkatsu or any fried stuff.

Definitely higher prices for simple grab and go but it's the only place with onigiris in Richmond and I do crave it sometimes. Would say it needs more filling for sure though. Price aside, sushi quality is pretty good

Straightforward yet satisfying Japanese fare but done very well. Everything was seasoned well and it was always pretty to look at all the treasures from bento boxes. Neatly presented, the unagi had great texture and rich oils permeated the palate superbly. The marinated tuna was hearty and contained loads of proteins, perfect anytime of the day. We love their portion size and the garnishes went very well with the main ingredient and the rice. There are many items to choose from and we can't wait to try other things from their menu.

A quaint grab and go Japanese shop in Richmond for hand rolls, sushi, dessert, and some bentos you can heat up. It honestly reminds me of the section at Mitsuwa in SoCal where you can buy a bunch of onigiri or sashimi to go. I tried their tuna hand roll (could have been better if the spring onions weren't so abundant) and spicy salmon hand roll. Solid 4/5 and fish quality was fresh. Definitely snag a daifuku mochi too if you want something subtly sweet and chewy.

Eating non-sushi items @takeyasushi Takeya Don $17 BBQ Eel , Ebi Tempura , Chicken Karaage on Rice The portion is like a school bento box, not a typical take-out bento box size. It comes with half egg and few pickles. BBQ Eel tastes good but it's quite small. I love the Ebi Tempura because it's a Jumbo size firm prawn inside with crispy Tempura batter outside. Chicken Karage is OK. Ebi Fry Curry Rice $13.50 Love the simple curry rice with the deep fried shrimps. Kakiage 1pc $3 You have to try it. Takeya is the only restaurant that is selling this deep fried vegetables. I only saw this side dish when I was eating in the udon noodles restaurant in Japan. Bought sockeye salmon sashimi and it's not fresh. Probably because it only does takeout now and dishes are not sold as fast. Won't recommend it.

A cute little Japanese one stop shop that sells bento boxes (made to order), onigiri, sashimi and hard to find desserts and snacks. I also bought the egg sandwich which reminded me of the ones from Family Mart in Japan . The bread was so fluffy and soft, I had to savour every bite of it! Genuinely miss the convenience stores in Asia that never close, and are stocked with anything and everything imaginable!

A no frills shop in Richmond serving take away sushi, and not only that they were quick to prepare. We got their nigiri bento and were very impressed. The food was fresh and delicious, especially for being "fast food". Great place to stop if short on time but still wanting something tasty!

I ordered some sushi for lunch. Food was ready in 20 minutes for pick up. My aburi salmon battera was made well. Salmon was fresh and had a nice seared flavour. The meal was not cheap, but the quality was worth the price. Covid precautions were in place when picking up my food. Staff wore face masks, there was plexiglass at the cashier section and hand sanitizer available.

If you're in the Richmond - Steveston area and you're craving sushi, well then let me takeya (get it? Take you, take ya, Takeya? LOL) to Takeya Sushi! A small, but fun and easy-to-navigate Japanese restaurant, Takeya Sushi all the typical offerings that one might find when craving all kinds of far east Asian cuisine, including some specialty items. Anything from nigiri sushi, maki sushi, donburi, and variation and combinations of bento boxes you will definitely find here. They have an extensive menu that is simple to read and they have an all-Japanese staff ready and willing to help any customer. Some items I ordered during my first take-out visit were: Croquettes and curry - tasty, good portion ratios, curry was a bit too sweet for my liking Tuna roll - simple, okay quality tuna Tenzaru soba - prawn tempura was crispy and fresh, overall good Oyakodon - just okay, too much rice, not good portion size prawns and curry - excellent, curry too sweet for me personally I came in wanting to try the Takeya Don which is similar to the Ichiro Don from Ichiro Japanese Restaurant - unagi, prawn tempura, and chicken karaage on top of a bed of hot rice, but this item was not available today, it is only available from Fri - Sun. I'll have to come again next time to try it out. The server politely advised me to choose another item instead and was very patient and friendly with me while I had to look at the the menu again. My order came out to a total of about $50.00 after tips and it only took about 10 minutes for all of it to come out of the kitchen. Talk about fast service! One of the small reasons why I am not giving Takeya Sushi a 5-star is because the soba noodles were all stuck together when I tried to eat them. Maybe it had something to do with being in a takeout container for 10 minutes before I could sit down to eat it, but to me that little extra attention to detail made the difference for me when I just wanted to slurp up the noodles bit by bit after dipping them in the sauce. Another small thing that I found disappointing was the portion ratio in the Oyakodon. Too much rice, and not enough of the chicken and egg on top to match. It was tasty, but definitely suffered from that imbalance of ingredients as a whole dish. Overall, I had a good experience here, and I will be back to try their other items. Service is good, prices are reasonable. Please come and support this local business!

The only go to for me in Richmond. This place is "the Real Deal." ...Call ahead, it gets busy! Never disappointed.

Very expensive place. Even when discounted at the end of the day it' still too expensive. Delicious food for the most part, when ordered fresh, some of the pre-prepped food has super hard rice and is not a good price or value like the donburi is a ripoff for a bowl of hard rice with a tiny bit of farmed salmon, no thanks. . 3 wide rolls for 12.95 or a few pieces of sahimi for 14.95 (ouch!) I like the grill squid but it's small and for $12.95 too much for a light snack. It's just fod afterall, might as well get a subway and at least you will be full! Love it but can't afford it.

I love the concept of a take out Japanese food place. Food quality is decent, what you can expect for takeout picnic food. We had the cold noodle, sushi, and cone... definitely too much food but I enjoyed it! They even have the sushi cones where you assemble the cone right before you eat it so the seaweed stays fresh. I would come back again.

This is traditional Japanese style sushi, so if you're interested in all sorts of crazy rolls that get fried and sauced and covered in crunchy bits then this is not the sushi joint for you. If you're looking for more traditional food that showcases fresh ingrediants and expert preperation, then this IS the right place for you. A little pricer than most sushi joints in Richmond, but I think the difference in quality makes it well worth the extra couple dollars. Small restaurant with limited seating: take out is usually the way to go during peak hours. Their fish is hands down the most fresh I've had in Richmond (just look at that shine!), and it is delicious raw or torched. Specific recommendations for Takeya: *Chirashi don. I think this is hands down the BEST value item they offer. There is a great variety of fish, and it is pretty filling for the price. The Ika, hotate, salmon belly and ikura are the real draws for me. Just as delicious in take out from. *Prawn tempura. Order when dining in, and eat it while it's hot! *Agadashi tofu. Just delicious. *Takeya Nigiri. A set of aburi nigiri and a maki roll. Highly reccomend if you love (or are interested in trying) aburi sushi.

This little gym hides in a typical boring looking strip mall next to Safeway. it is a very small shop but the food has big flavors. What drew me in was the many flavors of rice balls (onigiri) - chicken, miso salmon, ume, etc. And it turns out, there were lots of other boxed lunch choices so far everything we've tried taste authentic and the little shop is always busy.

Good sushi spot. We hit it up right after a soccer game at Hugh Boyd. It's a smaller establishment - so seating for a group more than 4 can get tricky. The kids enjoyed a mix of salmon, tuna, and kappa rolls with chicken teriyaki and bento boxes. Everything was good and reasonably priced. I had the brown rice avocado and yam special roll with a chirashi don. The roll itself was good and I liked the options to have brown rice. The chirashi don was a good portion - but it has mackerel (which I'm not a fan of) and I would have swapped that out. Service was prompt and the food was served in a timely manner. For a quick sushi bite at good value - this place works.

One of the best Japanese-run sushi places I've been to in awhile! This place is located in a strip mall all the way out in West Richmond. It's a bit out of the way from central Richmond but the food definitely makes the drive worthwhile. I've been here several times so far, and have tried a variety of items from their extensive menu. My faves are the Chirashi Don & Udon set, the Takeya Nigiri sushi combo, and the takoyaki. Their sushi rice is just perfect - not too dry, not too sticky. The cuts are fresh and tasty. Service is relatively quick though they're always busy. I'll be back again soon for sure!

Surprisingly the seaweed salad was my favourite dish. I enjoyed all the nigiris since it was all fresh and tasty! The salmon toro was my favourite. This is not a place where they have the crazy special rolls with different sauces. The rolls are the traditional Japanese rolls.

Great service! Great food! The interior of the restaurant is rather eloquent, the aroma was pleasant, and the servers were quite friendly everyone there seem to be having a good time and was in good spirits. I think I'll propose to my girlfriend there once there's dine in! She loves a sushi, I hope her father will allow me to marry her, and why shouldn't he? First meal back in Vancouver meant going for sushi. Takeya Sushi is located in Seafair Shopping Centre that houses a Safeway. It's also next door to another Japanese restaurant. We dropped in on a Monday (around 12:30pm) for lunch and the place was packed. Good to see that this place is actually run by Japanese people. Service was friendly but not as attentive as normal. We had to ask a few times for water refills. There's two menus; takeout and regular. The regular menu is split into battera sushi, summer/brown rice specials, soup and salad, sashimi, tempura/fry/teriyaki, rolls, nigiri, sushi combo, rice bowl/dishes, noodles, noodle set, bento box, party tray and desserts. Phew, so many. - Toro sashimi ($13.45) - this isn't on their menu but we asked and they had it. Sadly, the toro wasn't fresh. You could tell it was frozen the moment they dropped it off. Sad. - Ten zaru udon ($11.45) - one of their summer specials. Three pieces of prawn tempura and cold udon noodles. Tempura was fantastic; lightly fried and crispy. Udon noodles were standard. I wanted more of a chewy bite to them. - Takeya nigiri ($16.95) - lightly seared salmon toro, tuna toro, saba, amaebi and unagi, three salmon rolls and three tuna rolls. This was our favourite dish. Tuna toro melted in my mouth, same with the salmon toro. Unagi had the perfect balance of sweetness. - Salmon ($2.95), tuna ($2.95) and tamago nigiri ($2.05) - the rice to fish ratio was off in both the salmon and tuna nigiri. Way too much rice. The tamago was the best of the three but I'd skip out on their nigiri. - Negi toro roll ($3.95) and tobiko scallop roll ($3.95) - simple but good. I liked how the rice fell apart when I popped them in my mouth. B thought there was a tad too much rice in them. Takeya Sushi won't blow you away but the food was respectable.

We came here summer of 2019 when visiting Vancouver. We really enjoyed our meal here. We had a ton of salmon, spicy tuna, yellow tail, unagi, tiger rolls and spider rolls Everything was very good. The quality of the fish was very good. We ate a ton and the food was very reasonably priced. A family of four with two growing boys and our bill was only $130. The staff there was very kind and patient with us, since we kept ordering more food. I can't wait to be back in Vancouver again.

I am agreeing with most of you who rate Takeya 4 stars! This is my first time and it blew me away of how good this little neighbourhood Japanese eatery is. This is a Japanese owned and staffed establishment with good old no fuss Japanese favourites...Sushi, Tempura, Udon, Soba, Terriyaki, and the list goes on! Do come and try this place out and you won't be disappointed!!

Food was yummy for sure. It was pricey though. So it was little tastier than others but also a little more expensive. We had the unagi don, which had a lot of thick and good texture unagi. It was delicious! The ebi curry was satisfying on a cold day, not too spicy with some mushroom carrot and onion in curry. The ebi was nicely fried, very crispy outside with flavourful ebi. Chicken udon was average. I could see quite a bit of oil on soup. Overall it was still quite good.

Sushi is absolutely phenomenal here. Can get crowded during dinner rush, but usually able to find a seat. Lots of delicious rolls and specials to try. I had the Ebi Fry Curry, and vegetable battera. On another occasion, I had the Onigiri and the Chicken Karaage. Very sizeable portions given the price point. I'll definitely be back.

Found this place and I must say this is one of the more authentic Japanese restaurants in the area. Food was really good and the staff were very friendly. The only downside was the wait was a little long. Seems like a good place to get take out

I love this place, so much that I'll drive up from Seattle and go out my way to eat here haha! Will travel for good food is my motto. The monthly special sushi roll we tried was so good. And all their bentos, whatever combinations (And there are many to choose from) you cannot go wrong with. They have an extensive menu in hot food choices, rolls, nigiri, sashimi etc. The restaurant itself is small but I've never had to wait that long. There is also a separate ramen place next door that I have yet to try but they share the same kitchen. So whatever Japanese food you're in the mood for, it's all conveniently located. Plenty of parking in this neighborhood shopping plaza, next to Safeway.

Normally I travel so far for good sushi, but who knew a small spot could be so delicious! I came across this small place since its located right by my friends house, always walked passed it just didnt think to give it a try! Totally my knew sushi spot. Setting: The setting is a smaller restaurant, clean on the inside. Service: The Service is good, they have a good number off staff working during the busy lunch rush. Food: The food is great, especially for the price. They have many options!

Seems like a bunch of the sushi places out here at Richmond are three stars on Yelp. So this one is on par.

Takeya sushi Went to celebrate my sister getting her N on her first try!l The prices are more on the pricy end for the rolls and quality. Service was nice and fast. Aburi salmon batter 9/10 $14.75 Delicious roll. The torched salmon melted with the house sauce and worked well with the firm rice. Seafood aburi roll 9/10 $15.95 If you're indecisive about the aburi roll you want to get this is the roll to get. Unlike the salmon aburi roll it didn't have the house sauce which made the roll seem more on the dryer side Chicken karrage bento 8.5/10 (not sure what the dinner bento price was but I recall it being pricer than usual places) Definitely more on the pricy side for a bento. All the items in the box were delicious but the overall bento was quite expensive. My dad and I particularly enjoyed the refreshing cucumbers in vinegar. Tempura was excellently fried but nothing special. They had green bean tempura which some places don't have. Karrage was nice and juicy but didn't have the most flavour. It was fried well. Beef teriyaki bento box 8.5/10 (not sure what the dinner bento price was but I recall it being pricer than usual places) I personally prefer chicken teriyaki beef teriyaki but the beef teriyaki was done well. A regular portion with just the right amount of sauce. Prawn tempura 9/10 (7 pc) $12.95 The prawns were delicious and regular sized. The batter is your regular batter but fried well. I would appreciate it if they put the tipping sauce in a bigger container Takoyaki (5 pc) 8/10 $6.25 Small pieces of octopus and the batter wasn't as crispy as I like it. More on the mushy side which isn't necessarily bad but just personal preference Dessert tempura 9.5/10 The favourite of the night, the banana was fried perfectly and paired well with the ice cream and chocolate sauce Plain Curry udon 10/10 ~$13-14 What a treat! It was packed with flavour. I loved the flavour because it was rich and deep. The curry itself is thick and pairs well with udon. the sauce is heavy so it's a little bit tedious to eat. It does take a while to eat because it has such high viscosity. It was definitely on the pricer side with protein and I think it's perfectly fine without it! Chicken teriyaki 6.5/10 ~$9 It's not traditional chicken teriyaki and it was quite pricy for the small portion you get. It's more like chicken with teriyaki sauce. I personally think of chicken teriyaki as a fried crispy exterior on the outside with a tender interior. I tried my friend's potatoes croquettes and they were delicious with the tangy tartar like dipping sauce. Would definitely get that again!

Homey, authentic Japanese restaurant in Richmond, well, one of the few that's all the way at Steveston at least. Found this little gem on Yelp on A Thursday night. Restaurant about 80% full on a weekday night at 7:30. I had the Ten Don and Udon Combo. Tempera came out piping hot and the batter was perfect. They also have a front desk to make getting take out easier. Tasty, authentic Japanese food. Service was great. Attentive and polite. Will definitely come back to try their curry, sukiyaki, and sushi. Prices are okay, slightly more expensive than your average "cheap sushi" joints, but totally worth it for better quality and a clean restaurant. Also lots of parking at Seafair Mall which is a huge plus for Richmond.

I didn't expect much from this place but their oishi sushi is pretty darn good. I had one of each and I'd have to say my favourite is the salmon and the tuna comes to a close second. The Ebi with avo doesn't mix very well and is tied with the vegetarian version. I also had their tempura soba and that was not bad. The tempura wasn't greasy and had a nice crunch to it. Not overly battered either. Takoyaki is pretty good. It had the right amount of sauce and the softness was good with tiny bits of tako inside. I'd return to this place if I'm in the area. Great service! They've been topping up my tea once my cup's empty.

I got this place delivered to my hotel and I was very happy with the quality. For those of you visiting and used to American style sushi rolls you won't find that here. This are light and fresh rolls that only use the traditional Japanese sushi elements. No frills. I think while a bit more expensive than some spots in the area given the freshness and quality it was still a great value. I would absolutely order from here again in the future. (delivered through DoorDash)

The people are really nice there! Great customer service! They give you a big portion for a decent amount of money. I would definitely recommend going there!

If my stomach were a bottomless pit in need of good quality food with fair prices, this is where I'd set up my tent to eat all day. I enjoy eating in and take out. For eating in, there's several nicely spaced out tables (good for groups up to 4-5) and green tea is served freely. Also, the staff are super friendly, efficient and attentive. Take out is great because things are packed up nicely and I appreciate that they put the ginger and wasabi in little paper cups, that way it doesn't contaminate my food (aka: I don't like wasabi). Takeya Sushi can satisfy the cravings from the most Basic (teriyaki don, California roll, tempura, udon) to Intermediate (sashimi, chirashi don, Yaki udon, eggplant roll, takoyaki) to Unique (Kaki fry, Salmon pon, toro salmon, takoyaki roll, fish cake tempura). The list goes on but I think I should stop before I get the urge to go out again. Overall, I haven't tasted anything bad at this location (knock on wood). Japanese craving? You'll find me here with my new favourite of Bara Chirashi Don ($7.95) and yet another new dish to devour - maybe their tako agedashi tofu! Note: I heard this is a sister restaurant of Ichiro as well. If it is, I agree.. great stuff here too but on the less pricier side!

While I was in Canada this summer, I got take out from Takeya Sushi not once, but TWICE, because I loved it so much! As someone who is half Japanese, I know authentic Japanese food and Takeya Sushi has it. Their katsu don portion size is HUGE, delicious and filling. I was so happy with my meals here. When I return to Canada again, I will definitely make the drive out to Richmond just to eat here!

A really lovely place. I like to order the Bento boxes because they provide a little taste of everything. The Don bowls are also really amazing. They are currently providing takeout service only due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Wonderful sushi- decent prices. Just took off a star because the atmosphere isn't so great (I guess it's what you would expect of strip mall sushi). Had a California roll (delicious) and some nigiri. The fish was fresh, the rice tasted great and in the right proportions. I thought the crab sunomono was a bit over priced considering they use such a small amount processed imitation crab. They also had lots of fusion rolls, like mango California. I will be coming back here for sure.
