Google
I visited here whilst in Manchester over night. After googling top rated coffee shops within Manchester, this was at the top of the list. It had a very relaxed trendy feeling, plenty of seating to choose from & some lovely artwork as per one of my photos. Staff were attentive, coming to the table to take orders. I only went for a “dirty chai”, however the food I saw people eating looked very appealing.

Google
Fantastic coffee shop in the heart of Manchester. Eggs Benedict, French toast and cappuccino were perfection.

Google
Friendly staff, nice location, but most importantly quality coffee and food. The espresso was nice, a touch of bitterness but mellow flavours. Likewise for the cappuccino, though it was maybe a bit milkier than I'd usually prefer. The arepa was delicious, stuffed with cheese, served with avocado, fresh salsa, egg & crispy bacon, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Google
Hands down to the best French toast ever with nice combination of flavors; the lemon curd was definitely the highlight of the dish! The cappacunio was perfect and extremely good quality and so is the ambience inside the cafe, giving a feeling of cosiness and warmth on a rainy Wednesday morning.

Google
Yesterday I came because the ratings were so high and I can wholeheartedly say it was the best oat cappuccino I’ve ever had. It was so smooth and delicious I wish I bought two. The choc chip cookie was also incredible- crunchy on the outside, soft in the inside with a lovely vanilla after taste. It was however tainted by the lady who greeted and served me. She was so unnecessarily unresponsive and quite rude. Plus she looked over to see if I chose to tip or not- she was not subtle about it and had a face when I chose not to tip. Not with that service. It did shadow my experience but I’m not going to rate it down for her because the food and drink was perfection plus everyone else there seemed lovely.

The atmosphere is so lovely, clean and calm. The Iceland map is such a nice touch. The staff are kind. We went for breakfast and had the House Granola and the Garlic Mushrooms on Sourdough. They were divine, I could've licked the plate! We had an Iced Berry Tea and English Breakfast Tea which were lovely, took longer to come than the food but was still nice.

Google
This has been on my list for a long time now and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve been back twice already now for the scrambled eggs on sourdough which are some of the best I’ve had and the beans! THE BEANS!!! mouthwatering! The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are fantastic. It’s an easy 5 star from me and I can’t wait to go back and try some more from the menu! Oh and the Jasmine tea is stunning and very relaxing!

Google
I came in for a cup of coffee. The cappuccino was rich & flavourful. Atmosphere was nice. Selection of Music was just right, not too loud. Saff was very friendly and warm. Definitely will be bck to try their food. I really enjoyed my coffee.

Yelp
So I've heard many things about this place .. and my favourite bar is down the road so I pass it all the time. With trying to find a place for breakfast/brunch the other day, this place was at the top of the list. It was very nice inside .. very relaxing, calm, people working, people chatting .. it felt cozy and comfy. We picked a table and ordered our stuff at the serving bar .. I went for poached eggs on sourdough toast, and a latte .. but turns out they had a coffee and pastry offer so I also got a blueberry croissant. All the food was so good .. the pastry felt and tasted freshly and home made as I think it was whole meal flour which was nice and a change .. the blueberry jam inside was epic .. the coffee was brilliant and the eggs perfectly cooked and sourdough not overly toasted (which I can't seem to master at home) .. the only thing I would say bad was, with getting poached eggs, it felt like not a lot .. 2 eggs on a large slice of.. looked and felt like something was missing. Would absolutely return tho ... will deffo get a takeout coffee when passing in future

Yelp
One of those unusual stylish places that I'm not sure if I like or not. It's all very hipster, the bench sharing seats and old school desks still with school days graffiti. This doesn't create the most comfortable seating to be honest, but the coffee is exceptional with a perfect balanced blend that isn't one for ass kicking strength... This coffee is about taste rather than kick. Like most independent coffee houses, the prices are pretty high. The reason to be here is to enjoy a great coffee and hang out with friends, it's got a decent vibe and the staff are helpful. Good place to pick up some coffee for your home machine to boot :)

Yelp
Delicious coffee and what a great place to work/hangout! Multiple seating options and a cute interior. The cappuccino was great, as was the granola breakfast!

Yelp
TL;DR - Great coffee shop on the edge of the northern quarter. I really like Takk - it has a laid back vibe and serves great coffee and food. On top of that the staff are really friendly, which isn't always the case in coffee shops like this. There's always a good mix of ages in the customer base, and plenty of people busily working away on their laptops. Decor is minimalist but the whole place feels cosy. The only reason I can't give them five stars is because there have been quite a few times when I've tried to come here and simply can't get a table. Despite being away from the main stretch of the Northern Quarter, the place's reputation precedes it and it always seems to be busy.

Yelp
When I visited Manchester with my sister, we were looking for cute places to have breakfast. On Yelp we found Takk, which was very close to our hotel. For a Thursday morning it was quite busy. The decoration is very hipster and pretty and makes for a good atmosphere. It was nice to 'wake up' there with some breakfast. I chose the poached eggs on toast with added avocado which was so delicious. It was the best breakfast I'd ever had! My sister got the french toast, which was delicious as well but super sweet. I'm kind of sad I didn't try out the coffee as people say it's super good. But next time I definitely will! For two mugs of tea and two delicious breakfasts, the price was very good, around £16. Staff was super nice and helpful. I can't wait to go back to Manchester to not only explore the city but also to go back to Takk.

Yelp
On my amazing food-crawl through Manchester (see also: Northern Soul Grilled Cheese and Federal Cafe) last weekend, I stopped by Takk to get a mid-afternoon coffee and kill time before my train arrived. I'm so happy I picked this "Scandinavian-ish" cafe to hang out in! The vibe was very pleasant and warm. Though I sat in the front at one of the stools by the window (to watch the Manchester rain pour down, naturally) the shop seemed pretty expansive, with lots of seating and varying levels of space/privacy. Had I not still been in a solid food coma from Northern Soul, I would have tried their pastries, but I did order a flat white, and was utterly impressed. It was pricey (especially for how small it was), but worth it!

Yelp
I've gotta say that I've been going to Takk on and off since it opened a couple of years back and if the truth be told, I never really enjoyed it compared to some of the other NQ coffee shops - it just always seemed to be lacking a bit of atmosphere. Fast forward to the present day and it's actually now one of my favourite hangouts as I've been trying to liven up and mix up where I spend my time. It's got great coffee, tasty looking snacks (some of the main meals look great as friends I've met have eaten) and the staff are super friendly - plus the music is really good every time I pop in. I'm definitely one of the MacBook brigade who works in here regularly and it does get pretty busy late mornings, lunch times and just after - if you're after a quick coffee with friends make sure you have a back up plan as it can get packed and you may not get a seat!

Josh M.

Yelp
I always like it when a coffee shop has some take home stock like bags of beans from their coffee supplier or some kit (aeropress, v60 etc) I find it is a very good indicator of a place that has a passion for their industry and therefore make a decent drop. A very comfy coffee shop with edison bulbs which give that warm golden glow, floor boards and brick walls add to the place making it modern yet relaxed. With the businesses around it's not surprisingly to see lots of people on laptops sending emails or finishing off reports. There's a bookshelf at the back of the coffee shops filled with an assortment in case you walk in without any reading material. I've stopped in several times on my way to and from other places and always found the staff pleasant though not as talkative as some coffee joints around MCR and the flat white is very tasty. I will have to drop in for some of their food in future.

Michael B.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for anything and everything Scandinavian. Takk, for me, epitomises all that I've grown to love about their way of life: it's a simple, stripped-back, friendly and relaxing space full of natural materials and quirky design. You can order at the counter to take away, but if you can stay in and sit at one of the tables (most are repurposed old-school wooden desks which look great), then you'll be able to soak in the atmosphere whilst enjoying a leisurely coffee, brew and snack. Pots of tea come to a very reasonable £2.20 and you can get two cups-worth. They have a decent selection of both teas and coffees (the latter costing slightly more). I've now added one of their FORLIFE 'Stump' teapots to my wish list - they were great with their in-built infuser for loose tea and contemporary design. I haven't eaten in here yet but what I've gazed from other customers' orders has looked very tantalising indeed. It seems to be more geared up towards breakfast and brunch, with croissants, sandwiches and salads for the most part. As other reviews have mentioned, it's popular with the 'Internet Café' crowd, so don't be surprised if many, if not all, of the tables are occupied with bloggers or internet entrepreneurs at busier times of the week. If you do have an hour or two to while away, head to Takk and you'll be booking your flights for a trip to Iceland in no time.

Yelp
A really cool Northern Quarter Coffee Shop on Tarrif Street, its right next door to the Kosmonaut Bar, Its very very cool with great places to relax and chill, Its set out very well indeed and its very open plan, The staff are really friendly and cute, The coffees are great and cost anything between £2 and £2.60, there is also a lovely selection of home baked cakes at £2, the customers are cool and cute too :) Its one of the best coffee shops I've ever been too and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I'd read some great reviews about Takk and heard some good things too, so today I popped in for a coffee and a spot of lunch. What a lovely place. It was very busy when I arrived, and there was one small table left in the corner. The guy behind the counter suggested i go and throw my coat on it so that i didn't miss out. What a legend. It's pretty large inside, i think midday on a Saturday was just their busiest time. The exposed brickwork gives the coffee shop a great look. I was intrigued by the bookcase - i didn't go and have a closer look, but i can imagine this coffee shop being the type of place you could spend an afternoon reading. It really is lovely. There's free WiFi and plug sockets dotted around the place - and i saw a few people working away on laptops in here. It's a good environment for it. I ordered a latte - which was very good. I also ordered the B.A.C sandwich - which consisted of smokey streaky bacon, smashed avocado, tomato and chipotle ketchup on soft crusty bloomer bread. One of the best sandwiches i've had for a while. I had a rose lemonade too.

Yelp
The best coffee in Manchester. Taak is one of the few coffee shops to serve filter coffee. They always have a couple of single origin coffees to choose from for those of us who prefer filter to espresso. They also have regular coffee tasting events which allow you to try different coffees and brewing methods.

Yelp
Lovely little place secluded in between the Northern Quarter and Piccadilly Train Station. Food: The food was delicious! Love the tinned plates. Coffee: The place to go for coffee fans (V60 & Aeropresso) available. More coffees and equipments are available next to the counter to be taken home. The beans have been roasted in Berlin and has been imported from all over the world. Atmosphere: Simplistic and warm given the wooden materials and furniture.

Mateo M.

Yelp
After finding Takk rated highly on TripAdvisor I accidentally went to the bar next door thinking it was Takk. I finally made it here after having lunch there. It was time for an espresso and a piece of chocolate brownie. The staff and layout was nice - a few folk using their computers on the misfit benches. It was light and airy and I could see myself spending an afternoon writing or reading. The espresso was "special". A bit of Kenyan coffee rather than the normal dark roast left me surprised and a bit disappointed. I'm Italian and just returned from Italy so I was expecting the normal stuff, but the brownie was divine!

Josh O.

Yelp
Currently my favourite place to get coffee in the city. Unmistakably in the Northern Quarter, as the beards, brickwork and bare lightbulbs quickly indicate, Takk is a place you can come to spend alone with a cup of coffee and a book; for a quick coffee date with a friend (or laptop!), at one of the school tables along the wall; or in a large group, huddled round the beautiful new bespoke long table. They serve excellent espresso-based coffees, as well as a rapidly rotating selection of longer coffees made with either V60 or Aeropress. In summer, their cold-brewed coffee over ice is just the ticket. The quality and variety of their coffee is easily among the very best in town. A selection of moreish cakes complements your caffeine hit well. Their sandwiches always look appetising, though I can't comment from experience. I've stuck with their weekend brunch menu, where the fine-dining background of the kitchen staff shines through in plates with levels of craft and flavour above those of your typical coffee house. Their huevos - spiced beans, black pudding and poached egg piled high on a sourdough base and accented with herb oil - is a particular favourite, as is their bacon, avocado and chipotle ketchup sandwich. If you're after something lighter, the baked egg with salmon or the granola will serve you well. Repeat visits to explore the menu are well-rewarded and highly recommended. A spartan, Icelandic-inspired aesthetic may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you're in search of excellent coffee and delicious food. Once you've been to Takk, it will be.

Yelp
Often park on Tarriff Street these days and pop in here on my walk to Piccadilly Station. Can't drink coffee anymore (caffeine allergy, makes me so sad!!) but did have decafs and teas. Really the best spot to stop in the NQ for coffee. Bright and airy, exposed brick walls and wooden benches. I believe it's Icelandic inspired? Friendly staff and loads of people working on laptops so if you need to get on Wi-Fi this is the place. Quite hipster!!

Yelp
My husband and I met a friend for a late brunch here two weekends ago. On first impressions, the space was great: airy and relaxing with wooden tables throughout and good music playing in the background and friendly staff. The menu options also looked appealing. I chose the lemon and mint pea smash on toast with smashed avo and feta and a beetroot spread and my husband got the French Toast. The presentation was lovely for both so I was greatly surprised my dish was so bland! Really flavourless avo and mash even with the feta. The bread was also more burnt than toasted. Meanwhile my husband's toast was divine; it was basically a yummy sugar bomb. The carrot cake I got for takeaway was also a bit dry but tasted good (although I have had better).

Yelp
The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because they didn't have any syrups for my latte (yeah I like them extra sweet and nasty) but besides that I am a fan! Takk is definitely going to be my next favorite coffee/work/meeting place in Manchester. It is very well decorated with wooden floors, furniture and book shelves which makes this place a perfect place to sit and get some work done or have meetings. My friend Dan ordered for a Falafel sandwich, earl grey and cake and seemed like he enjoyed his meal. I was not hungry so went for a caramel latte but sadly they didn't have syrups, but they were so awesome that to compensate that they made me a flat white with chocolate (and I melted). They have a wide range of bottled soft drinks like ginger beer, mango juice etc too. You will find lot of people having work meetings here, or some people just sitting there and doing their work done (unlike some places where you feel like a weirdo to sit alone). The whole atmosphere was very relaxed and makes you feel very welcome. I landed up having a very interesting conversation there with a young chap who runs his own techy firm next door (I think cafes like these are a great place to meet new people). I found out later that Takk also hosts a lot of networking events inside for young businesses and start-up companies. Verdict: Great place to relax with friends/ work/ read.

Yelp
I'm not a native to Manchester, so when it was suggested to meet with a few friends at Takk, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. Upon entering, I was reminded of my favorite coffee shop in Lawrence, Kansas called Alchemy. The setup was different, but the atmosphere and offerings were more or less the same. Also, the hipster vibe. Very present in this place. How awesome! I've not yet been back to Takk just yet, but I definitely will in the near-ish future, because their French toast is out of this world!! Highly recommend to anyone hungry. So that's basically everyone at some point in their day. The cold brew is what I sprung on and it was quite fantastic. I normally drink tea, but the cold brew from Alchemy was always my go-to, so if I was already comparing Takk to them, obviously I had to give their cold brew a go. A few of my friends tried the lattes and other hot caffeinated drinks and were quite pleased with the quality. So if that's your thing, give that a try, as well. Give them a go and you won't be disappointed! Thanks for reading my review!

Yelp
First stop on my Manchester cafe hop. Was actually looking for the photography gallery but spotted this little cafe instead. Super friendly staff and nice ambience. Enjoyed a very pretty latte and a really nice spicy sausage roll. Haven't found the gallery yet :)

Yelp
I'm gonna say that this is my favourite coffee house in Manchester: although I can't quite decide as their are a number of gems around here in the NQ. It's an uber-cool retreat, a calm but by no means dead environment. Icelandic inspired and trendy. Takk have recently invested in a kitchen. They now serve proper brunches. Their bread stockist is Trove, you can certainly expect a fairly gourmet affair of things-on-toast. No other coffee shop around here offers such a quality breakfast/coffee combination. Do watch this space though, the kitchen is new to Takk and I anticipate that their food menu will be evolving soon. For now it's quality basics. Quality never seems to be compromised here- I can vouch that the brownies are awesome. I'm fussy with brownies. Hard-core chocolate fan over here. The coffee is some of the best this city has to offer. Takk are really trying to take their coffee to the next level- and so far it's going tremendously well. Not only do they have quality espresso prepared by well trained baristas, but they also offer cold brew (of course they do- it's totally in right now), V60 and syphon brew techniques. Good to know that they also have a more than decent decaf option from Passion Fruit coffee roasters (based in chorlton). Their decaffeinating method is Swiss water washed- so ideal if you're avoiding those nasty chemical processes often used to create decaf. (Turning an avoidance of caffeine into an deceivingly unhealthy choice). Takk has lots of 2 person tables and a couple of big communal tables- so can suit family's, groups and more intimate catch ups. There will always be someone with a MacBook doing something edgy too. I will give this place 5 stars if they make their food menu a bit more radical and interesting which I think will happen before long. For now it's 4, but a 5 for the coffee!

Marie U.

Yelp
A great atmosphere as soon as you enter, but the northern quarter coffee shop clichés come thick and fast as soon as you step through the door. If you've got a mac with you, you'll feel as much a stereotype, as the tattooed bearded batista must feel making a flat white. However, the coffee here is great and that could never be denied. Well made and the house bean is the perfect accompaniment to the silky milk in my flat whites. The baristas are also great latte artists and my little swan that I got made me smile. Does Manchester need this many independent coffee shops? No. It doesn't. Do I like the fact that there are this many great independent coffee shops. Yes. Yes I do. Takk note, good coffee, good location and good stereotypes.

Jenn J.

Yelp
Great coffee, delicious food. Best coffee I have had in over a year. It was smooth and creamy, these people really know how to make a great coffee. We ordered a second each. The food was delicious and came out nice and quickly (but not too quickly to be of concern). Edgy decor, with long tables for big groups or smaller tables for more intimate meetups.

Vahishta M.

Yelp
I spent an entire afternoon working on my blog at Takk and the time went by so very quickly. It didn't feel like I was working because my toes were always tapping away to the music. The cafe is a very warm and friendly space. I've been to places where customers are locked away in insular booths, unable to make eye contact with each other. Takk is about as far from that layout as it's possible to get. The large room that serves as the main seating area is dominated by a central table that's more of a community table - when we got there two separate groups of people were using the table and by the time we left, they were chatting with each other and the groups seemed to have merged. Surrounding this large table is a collection of smaller, more intimate two-seater tables - but even these are closely spaced so you can always look over and strike up a conversation. The food is decent, nothing to swoon over. Standard coffee shop fare: sandwiches and pastries, at reasonable prices. The coffee was great (I had a cappuccino) and the roast ham sandwich I tried was very good. If there's one small peeve I had with Takk it was that they had a very generic selection of items on the menu - nothing really jumped out at me. Also, it makes me work very hard!

Deborah T.

Yelp
This place has so many memories. It's fab, having been since it opened several years ago I've watched it evolve from just coffee to cakes / sandwiches and be full with no where to work. I love it here and am super proud of how they have grown. When I have meetings I take people here, super cool Icelandic coffee shop on Tarriff street. Love

Huttson L.

Yelp
Yep, I love this place The coffee is superlative with a regularly changing selection for Aeropress, V60 and espresso-based drinks. The food has become a super staple for the brunch crowd with a distinct highlight of the Takk Huevos, and the pastries have improved immeasurably since my last review about six months ago. Most of all, it's the atmosphere that will bring you back again and again, with coffee knowledgeable staff, mismatched schoolroom furniture in an industrial aesthetic, music, wifi and reading materials on tap, and the chance to catch stars and celebrities when they're in town... In a continuously developing cafe scene in Manchester, with a new tea/art space opening soon, a new independent bookshop with food and drink, and the improvements to longstanding staples, Takk remains a lovely, warm place for a quick coffee or a leisurely meal, so much so that it's often busy, busy, busy, so be prepared for a wait: it will be worth it, I guarantee!

Linda K.

Yelp
Really great coffee. I tried a soy cappuccino and a soy flat white. Both were really good and satisfied my fussy Aussie coffee needs. Free wifi that works properly! Really nice interior and I like the open bookshelf idea, so you can read while you sit.

Peter S.

Yelp
Pretty dang cool. That's the ambiance here, not the temperature of the coffee. Takk touts itself as a cafe and creative space, which seems to mean quality coffee (Has Bean, plus Takk's own blend), wooden benches and chairs, legions of Macbook owners, musically-themed posters and hipster-filament lighting. I love it most though for its Nordic aspirations, which I think it succeeds at very well. The wood everywhere and warm lighting give it the cosy atmosphere that the Nordics excel at. Whether you're into great coffee, cosy interiors, friendly staff, free wifi or Nordic escapism, Takk is very much worth a visit.

Graeme H.

Yelp
The last place we went to in Manchester, and one of the best in the bunch. Icelandic based, it's really nice looking, with exposed brick, a cool bookcase across the back wall, and a graphic map of Iceland filled with all the cool things that the country has produced. It seems it's pretty serious about it's coffee, with roasts from Berlin, Bristol, as well as it's own blend. The staff were all really nice, and you can tell they were really enjoying themselves, jigging along to the tunes while they were making up the drinks. Not being a coffee fan I can't judge them on the quality of their drinks, but the place was pretty busy even close to opening time on a Sunday. I can talk about the food though, and the breakfast I had was a bit of a winner. I went for the Takk B.A.C, and it was brilliant: tasty bacon, avocado that wasn't too overpowering (I can live with it, but I'm never too keen when it's the stand out flavour in a dish), and a fantastic chipotle that really made the thing zing. The bread was also nice and soft, so it didn't rip the top of your mouth off. Free wifi, and a relaxed atmosphere means that this is somewhere you could spend some time in and really enjoy. A bit of a gem.

Paul R.

Yelp
A great coffee shop with a relaxed cool vibe. There are always a sea of people on their various apple devices, so its very Northern Quarter and a great afternoon creative time place to be. As a fellow bearded gent, I love the bare bricks, but all the attention should be placed onto the coffee and cakes which are always an absolute treat. A welcome change from a chain, and a great place for a relaxed meeting.

Gemma B.

Yelp
Good coffee. That's all I've got right now, really. I mean, I can imagine this place is quite nice in the evenings, a great alternative to a full blown bar and I spotted a poster about events which sounded interesting. I can see the space working really well for an intimate gig. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but when a place describes itself as Icelandic inspired, I thought it would be more than a few imported native chocolate bars. I visited on a lunch hour and the food offer was underwhelming - two types of sandwich and the cinnamon buns I'd been ogling on their Twitter feed were less appetising in the flesh. My turkey and jarlsburg focaccia did taste good, but I also admit to giggling and somewhat agreeing to the sentiments of a fellow diner when overhearing "Did I really just pay four quid for half a sandwich?!" The decor is sparse, the menu is minimal and the coffee is as previously said, good. There's definitely promise, so I'm hoping to return once Takk have settled in and get more of a feel for what else they have to offer, especially in the NQ where good caffeine is a given.

Jessica D.

Yelp
It's simple - I love Takk. A relaxed environment, great coffee, delicious cake. What more could you want? Perhaps a few less Apple screens taking up all of the tables but I have to admit to being one of these people in the past. It is a freelancer hangout and it sure is popular. Takk's coffee is very good and if you manage to go when they are selling their chocolate and guinness cake, EAT IT. It is beyond awesome. I have converted three friends already and they are now C&GC addicts like me. On my last trip here, I tried their hot chocolate, a liquid that I am very fussy about. I was thrilled to see they offer a decent cup - rich, dark and not sickly sweet. It was still quite milky but the flavour was good. Very impressive.

Emily B.

Yelp
As Takk is about a 30-second skip away from my office, it was a really pleasant place to kill time while drinking coffee and eating sandwiches during the arduous interview process. Since getting the job I haven't been back very often, partly because it's a bit on the expensive side for a daily lunch spot, and partly because I like to think of it as somewhere to go for a treat. Takk is nicely if sparsely decorated, with that communal seating thing that is great if it works well and just plain awkward if it doesn't. (It seems to work okay here.) The coffee is great, the sandwiches are good, and the cakes are quite nice too. Like I said, a little bit pricey, but nothing obscene: you could get a coffee, a sandwich and a cake for less than a tenner. (And just think of all the free water you could get from the jug in the corner.) It has the potential to be the kind of place that would have such strong hipster vibes to be intimidating and unwelcoming (especially if you're not a person who makes their living by sitting in coffee shops with your Macbook) but in actuality it has a lovely, friendly atmosphere, helped along by the lovely staff.

Yelp
I know there are many excellent independent coffee houses in Northern Quarter. Each of them has fine quality coffee and experienced baristas, unique branding graphic design and tasteful décor. They provide a great place to stop over after shopping and also a good place for a quiet afternoon reading or writing. Takk is an Icelandic coffee house and it is located on Lever Street, on the edge of Northern Quarter. It's not in the centre of the Northern Quarter and it's on a quiet road. However, it's the busiest coffee shop I had ever seen for an independent coffee house in Manchester and people are actually queuing for the coffee during the time I had been sitting in. I think the seats layout inside the coffee house is a very important factor to define the atmosphere of the coffee house. In Takk, there is a corner with books on the shelf against the wall, so it's perfect for sitting with classmates or just on your own to do some work. The big bench in the centre of the room is great for a group of friends to chat and have a drink. Along another side of the room, there are small tables for intimate conversations with close ones or for meetings. Some bar seats along the glass window, facing the street is for those who just want to sit quietly and have a good coffee. I liked this place because I could feel so relaxed when I entered. Unlike other coffee shops in North Quarter, Takk has more spacious seats layout. You feel you have been given enough space and it's not just being not over crowded. We visited Takk on a Saturday afternoon after a lunch. We carved something strong and refreshing to cleanse the greasiness. I usually would go for a V60 but I opted for an Affogato instead and a normal latte for my friend. I have to admit that I made the right call. The creamy salted cameral ice cream (I listened to the barista and chose salted cameral over vanilla) and the strong while rich aromatic espresso created this divine tasting experience. The icecream was good but the espresso was better. I believe the espresso in Takk is from the most popular and reputable roaster - workshop in London. Takk is a really cool and relaxed place and the coffee is seriously good. I am also very tempted to try their sandwich because a few of them just look appealing. Meanwhile, I think I had just found my favourite coffee shop in Northern Quarter.

Yelp
Love it, friendly, relaxed and tasteful. You get room to relax and work. Also they used to let friendly dogs in (don't worry it's very hygienic). No pressure to leave, they make you feel so welcome in here. Great interiors, very interesting. Slight limitation is a small menu, but then it is a coffee shop

Yelp
The only thing I liked about this place was the art work and the cups. The coffee was mediocre and the shop felt anything but Scandinavian. Service was fairly slow and probably won't be paying them another visit. Nej takk!

Yelp
The atmosphere here is more like a co-working space than a coffee shop. I like that. The long central table encourages conversations with strangers - it's definitely the more social area in the modest-sized cafe. The back wall is usually lined with open Apple laptops lighting up a row of concentration faces. It feels like a productive, creative, coffee fueled place. The bare brick walls, common in the Northern Quarter, provide a warm red glow in the industrial styled space. The flat white arrived in a rather small glass and, although tasty, could have been a bit warmer - there's probably an exact science behind the temperature it arrived at, but I like my hot drinks piping. Drinks range from £2-£4. There's cake, snacks and light bites, which looked amazing. Tasty coffee, lovely branding and a creative atmosphere; this place is fast becoming a favourite.

Yelp
I enjoyed Takk, good sandwiches and a very chilled out place to sit and have conversation with friends. It was clear that a couple of people were have a Skype conversation in the back corner but this was not distracting the the noise did not travel to much. The hot chocolate was really very good, as was the tea. I will be here again.

Yelp
Had a business meeting in here this morning and having walked down this street many times en route to Kosmonaut or El Capo, I have never once noticed this place. Says it all really. Apart from a map of Iceland, the name (and I believe the owner has an Icelandic heritage) I'm not entirely convinced about the Scandinavian connection. I'm not a coffee drinker either, so perhaps I wouldn't personally have chosen a venue like this (no real atmosphere or chit chat, the only sound being the furious tapping of fingers on keyboards and iPads) but if I worked from home, it's the kind of place I'd take my laptop and go and work in peace for a few hours. Nice, friendly guy on the till. The other dude was missing a few customer service skills (doesn't matter if you can't serve me, any acknowledgement would be nice). Nothing to really write home about.

Yelp
Had an enjoyable espresso and ginger flapjack at Takk on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I was only here briefly but I intend to visit again. The WiFi was free and easy to use.

Yelp
Takk fits in well with the hipster, artistic vibe of the northern quarter. I took one of my Swedish friends here, because of its Scandinavian origins, and we were both really impressed with it. It had a relaxed atmosphere and a mixture of people from those wanting a quiet space to work to friends catching up. I loved the long wooden table in the middle, it makes the place feel more social, if you wanted to strike up a conversation with a fellow coffee lover. I had the TAKK M.A.C, a bacon and avocado butter sandwich, which was delicious, and I left feeling really full. The coffee is good and the cakes at the counter look enticing. I'll definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Talk coffee shop is situated in the Northern Quarter. You order your food at the counter ,which I ordered toast, and you get a choice of bread and tea, which were served in a cup. It was priced at £2.50, which I think is a little expensive for a cup and not a pot, but the experience is very nice and they have a lot of very nice home-made cakes for you to choose from.

Yelp
Wannabe hip in a developing area, and doing it well. Very good cappuccino. Tasty peanut butter brownie. Nice looking lunch menu though we were not game for lunch. If consistent, could be five stars.

Yelp
I noticed this unassuming coffee shop on one of my backstreet walks around Manchester's northern quarter and felt compelled to go in. On entering I found a relaxed interior with a small selection of cakes and nibbles to accompany an appropriate list of coffee's without an iced frappuccino in sight. I was excited to see that they served long black's, a style of coffee that I enjoyed in New Zealand and Australia. The wait time for my coffee was pretty long, but the coffee was very good so I can't complain and I have now taken to going for a coffee in Takk on most weekend visits to the city centre. I highly recommend a visit to Takk to remember what good coffee tastes like again

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly staff (they like a good chat about bikes!), comfortable and stylish interior with magazines, free wifi, tucked away from the main thoroughfares. Well worth a trip.

Yelp
A1 coffee. Sandwiches are made with trove bread so the sourdough is excellent. Great cakes and the food options are good for both meat and veggies. Alongside north tea power , teacup , grindsmith , luck lust liquor and burn and fig and sparrow TAKK is a essential in your visit to Manchester.

Yelp
Every time I visit Manchester we always pop into Takk for a coffee. The coffee shop itself is really nice and spacious with loads of seats available. They often have cool exhibitions on the walls. The last time I was there they had a photography exhibition about Manchester which was interesting. Every time I have tried a coffee from there it has been good. The last time I went I tried two really nice filter coffee. They also sell food. I tried the sourdough bread with halloumi which was delicious!
