Start from Galata Tower, walk through Istiklal and reach Taksim Square. This route is the jewel of Istanbul! Full of locals and tourists, always so lively and colorful! In Istiklal, you will find plenty of shops for clothes, cosmetics and accessories - but also traditional souvenirs and delicacies like baklava and lokum. Also restaurants and coffee shops, filled with people. Just take a stroll and let yourself be delighted!

I recently visited Taksim Square, one of Istanbul’s most vibrant and famous landmarks. It is the heart of modern Istanbul and a hub for culture, shopping, dining, and entertainment. The square is always bustling with locals and tourists alike, creating an energetic and lively atmosphere. The Republic Monument in the center is a must-see — it commemorates the founding of the Turkish Republic and adds historical significance to the square. Surrounding the square, you’ll find Istiklal Street, a pedestrian avenue full of shops, cafés, restaurants, and street performers. It’s perfect for walking, shopping, and experiencing Istanbul’s modern city life. Highlights & Tips: • Visit early in the morning or late afternoon to fully enjoy the square without the densest crowds. • The Taksim Metro Station makes it very easy to access from anywhere in Istanbul. • Don’t miss the nearby historic cafés and local eateries — they offer delicious Turkish tea, coffee, and traditional snacks. • The area is very lively at night, with illuminated streets, music, and a festive atmosphere. Taksim Square is more than just a tourist spot — it’s a cultural and social hub, representing both the modern and historical aspects of Istanbul. Whether you’re sightseeing, shopping, or just enjoying a walk, it’s a must-visit destination in the city.

It is really fantastic moment. The square is a gateway to Istiklal Caddesi, a famous pedestrian boulevard lined with shops, cafes, movie theaters, and historic buildings. The area is home to the Atatürk Cultural Center and the Taksim Mosque, with the mosque situated to the west of the square.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The beating heart of Istanbul that never sleeps (and neither will you!) Right, let's talk about Taksim Square - the place where every Istanbul adventure either begins or spectacularly ends at 3am with a döner kebab in hand. This isn't just a square, it's basically Istanbul's living room where 15 million people decided to hang out at once. The energy here is absolutely mental in the best possible way. You've got street musicians battling for acoustic supremacy, vendors selling everything from Turkish flags to knock-off designer watches, and tourists doing that classic "spin around with arms wide open" Instagram pose (we've all been there, no shame). 🎭 What makes this place brilliant: it's the ultimate people-watching spot. Grab a Turkish tea from one of the countless cafés lining Istiklal Street and just soak it all in. The shops range from proper Turkish boutiques to international chains, so your shopping addiction will be thoroughly satisfied. The restaurants? Mate, you're spoilt for choice - from proper Turkish meze joints to rooftop terraces with Bosphorus views that'll make your camera roll explode. 🍽️ Pro tip: Come here twice - once during the day for the shopping madness and again at night when the whole area transforms into this buzzing nightlife hub. The metro station connects you to everywhere you need to go, which is a godsend because taxi drivers here have a PhD in creative route-finding (if you know what I mean). 🚇 Fair warning: it gets absolutely rammed, especially weekends. But that's part of the charm - you're not just visiting Taksim, you're becoming part of the beautiful chaos that is Istanbul. Bring comfortable shoes, your sense of adventure, and maybe a portable phone charger because you'll be snapping photos like mad. This is Istanbul's Times Square with better food and more character. Unmissable! 📸

As a traveler, Taksim Square is a must-visit. It’s lively, crowded and surrounded by shops, cafes, and connected to Istiklal Street. There are also two Indian restaurants nearby, India Gate and Delhi Darbar, which are good options if you’re craving Indian food..

Very bustling and busy spot, an abundance of shops and vendors and plenty of ATMs around. Expect large crowds. Beautiful architecture. I personally don’t prefer this many people but if it seems like a must visit in Istanbul.

Very good. We caught the funicular up to Taksim Square (which is sort of like Martin Place). The square is a gateway to Istiklal Caddesi, a famous pedestrian boulevard lined with shops, cafes etc - a main shopping street for modern Istanbul (high-end shops; etc). Wandering the streets we saw quite a few people with plaster covered noses … perhaps they came for cheap(er) cosmetic nose jobs?

Clean and safe. It was fun helping people take their photos and they in turn took ours. Met some folks visiting from Uzbekistan and surrounding areas.
