Tal-Fanilja was a nice experience. The food was tasty from the first till the last bite. The service was kind and friendly , but at the end of the dinner it became a little bit slow, due to the lot of new guests. The menu had a lot of seafood and Maltese options. Also there was some fresh fish as the catch of the day. If you are in the area I recommend to give a visit for Tal-Familja!

Amazing restaurant with wonderful service and very tasty food. We got the seafood platter, but also the waitress brought us some local Maltese appetisers, which was so sweet and unexpected! The platter goes together with some potatoes, vegetables, and onion rings. We don’t eat a lot, so with the appetisers it was more than enough for us. If you have the chance to go to this restaurant - you should, without a doubt! Thank you for a great experience ❤️

We had an exceptional dining experience at Tal-Familja, a charming family-owned seafood restaurant. The meal started with a delightful array of complimentary starters: garlic butter and freshly baked small rolls, alongside a tasty bean spread and beans for a quick bite – a fantastic combination to kick off our evening. For appetizers, we enjoyed raw oysters (flavorful and zesty), tuna tartare (not very special but okay), very delicious Gozo cheese (fried goat cheese with tomato garlic sauce and basil), and a great fried calamari. Each dish was fresh and full of flavor. The garlic octopus was fine although it was a bit too chewy though, served with fried onions, oven-baked potatoes, and baked veggies. The sides were phenomenal! Especially the baked potatoes! We paired our meal with a bottle of Chenin Blanc Simonsig from South Africa, which complemented our seafood beautifully. The restaurant boasts an impressive variety of wines from around the world, ensuring there's something for every palate. The service was outstanding – our waiter was attentive, friendly, and very professional. The ambiance was cool and inviting, adding to the overall wonderful dining experience. Tal-Familja offers excellent quality at a reasonable price. We highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking delicious seafood and a welcoming atmosphere. Overall score 4.5/5 for a Seafood Restaurant

For a little over €30, I had a mixed fish dish that was quite large. You do not need an appetizer or desert when you go for this main. The fish was well prepared and very tasty. A shame that the drinks were overpriced..€4.50 for a glass of house wine or a bottle of water is twice or even three times the normal price. Staff was friendly and attentive. So overall, considering the food, you do get value and quality for your money.

If you're staying in Marsaskala and you're looking for a quintessential maltese dining experience, then this place is for you. Needless to say, you don't need to embark on a comprehensive internet search to discover that Tal-Familja comes highly regarded by both locals and tourists alike. The categorical rave about this small, family-run restaurant instilled within me an undeniable temptation to answer the age old question for the hungry traveller .... 'is it really worth the hype?'. I was delighted to discover, and can confidently confirm, that Tal-Familja genuinely is all its cracked up to be. My partner and I visited Tal-Familja for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Despite a full house, we were able to secure a booking at the last minute, perhaps considering it was a weekday. After walking into what felt like a 'home away from home' (in itself a strange feeling considering I am Australian), we were greeted by a team of incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. To say that we were well looked after by this team throughout our entire stay would be an understatement! We ordered the Capasanta alla Griglia (grilled scallops) and the Ravjul Malti (ravioli with ricotta) for starters, and the Fenek Moqli u I-forn (rabbit) and the Ħaruf il-Forn (sliced roast lamb) for mains with a few glasses of white/red wine. After placing our orders, we were introduced to an unexpected spread of delicious warm bread rolls with garlic butter, beans, crisps and dip. Now, diners beware, this surprise extra may be a slippery slope into the inevitable bloating that one experiences when the food is so good, you choose to prematurely indulge before catching a glimpse of your starters. I am unsure how I was oblivious to this customary accompaniment, regardless, it was delightful to nibble whilst sipping wine and waiting for our meals. I'm going to say straight up that I'm no food connoisseur, however, I know damn well when something tastes good, and when something tastes bad. Every single element to the dishes we received were spectacular. You know that telltale 'noooo way' head shake one does when one's tastebuds can't fathom how good something tastes? Well, that was us... the whole way through. Absolutely delicious meals, generous sizes and served with another added extra of roast potatoes, vegetables and onion rings. My partner and I ate until our abdominal circumferences could not expand any further. The real deal, shallow breathing, loosening of the belt ....the whole shabang. Unpretentious, welcoming and exciting, this restaurant is perfect for tourists visiting the area, and of course, if you're a local and have not yet had the pleasure of dining here, you better get to it!

We had a very nice experience of dinner there on St. Valentine Day. Nice decorations, cosy atmosphere, delicious and freshly made food, friendly personnel. It is a place which offers very good Maltese food and a big variety too.
