Every room has a different theme highlighting Memphis, all unique unto themselves. Cozy while spacious and clean, basically a furnished apartment with ample kitchen space. One thing- the entrance is tricky to find. I'd definitely book a room there anytime. And the staff is amazing:)

We loved Talbot Heirs! Each amazing room has been uniquely decorated in a stylish and cool way. Our room was so comfortable and spacious and was a pleasure to return to after busy days exploring Memphis. Talbot Heirs is a peaceful oasis in the middle of bustling downtown Memphis, making its location ideal. It was so quiet and we slept really well, with the benefit of being really centrally located and within easy walking distance of Beale Street, the river, Civil Rights Museum, etc. It was great having the facilities to make coffee, make food etc and the welcome pack of cereals and snacks that were restocked each day were much appreciated. Although there isn't always a staff member onsite, we were able to reach someone on the phone whenever needed and they were always close by and able to come over to the property. We were given a useful map and lots of advice from our friendly and knowledgeable host Robert, which enabled us to make the most of our stay. He even came with us to show us where to safely park our hire car. All in all, a great choice when staying in magnificent, musical, memorable Memphis!

What a wonderful find, in the heart of all the sights of Memphis and right across the street from the famous Peabody Hotel, plus 2 blocks from Beale Street. Our suite (#5) was spacious with room to spread out and oh-so,cute! We were met outside by the hotel staff with a,saved spot while we unloaded the car; parking is right around the corner. The kitchen was stocked with cereals, oatmeal, oj, milk, water and snacks...all included. The rooms are beautifully decorated in an eclectic, artsy style and ours had a small balcony. Loved everything about this stop...location, the hotel, the friendly staff...all excellent! We would definitely recommend and stay here again.

We booked the Talbot Heirs for 2 nights in mid-July after the Holiday Inn down the street canceled our reservation at the last minute due to an "electrical fire". Upon arriving I could not believe our good fortune. The rooms were awesome! Clean and comfortable and really creatively decorated. They almost like one bedroom apartments or studios. We wanted something close to the Peabody and Beale Street and this place delivered. We were checked in by Robert, who was super friendly and helpful and made sure that all of our questions were answered. (I'm serious Robert, you need to watch Boardwalk Empire!) Parking was close by and was a deal at only $10 a night. If we ever return to Memphis we will only stay at the Talbot Heirs and will encourage anyone we know visiting to stay. Overall the entire experience was awesome and it was worth every penny we spent. Thanks so much!

Very fortunate to stay several days with extended family for a wedding. Rooms are all unique with a creative sense of local style. Staff went out of their way to assure everything went as planned. In the heart of downtown Memphis which make walking to all the local sites. Well worth trying all the different and unique rooms.

Our home away from home when celebrating our wedding anniversary during the Beale Street Music Festival! Wonderful owners and staff who have become great friends over the years! Can't say enough about how convenient the hotel is located in the Heart of Memphis! Across the street from the Peabody, next door to the Flying Fish and walking distance to Beale Street, Lorraine Motel/Civil Rights Museum, trolley cars, etc! The units are beautifully decorated and Comfortable with kitchens that have EVERYTHING you'll need! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! You'll love Jerry and Sharon!

A must-go in Memphis! Awesome guesthouse, between Beale street and Memphis Main st. The room was really big, with a fully furnished kitchen and a makeup/studio room. Everything in the fridge, juice milk etc., available for free, including cereals and bars. In practice, I had breakfast with what the property put at my disposal. The owners are very friendly and available too. I really appreciate all the directions and suggestions that Robert gave to me.

Yelp
[997] Seriously 5 stars.. Take an Uber here from the airport. It will be about $30 vs $80 on car service :( Each "room" is more like a super cool apartment. It's about 22 steps up to the main level. First floor has a convivence store. We were in Room 6 which was great. The was a separate bedroom which is what we wanted. The room had - roll away bed - iron - blow dryer - cereal - milk - bottled water and OJ - coffee - Full kitchen with eat in area The bathroom was large and comfortable. The bed was great and I slept like a baby. The staff is very friendly and helpful Answered all my questions. There were extra snacks and water bottles available if needed. If I ever come back to Memphis I would DEFINITELY come back here. This place is across the street from the Peabody hotel so we went across to see the march of the ducks. lol

Yelp
This place was amazing! Three of our best couple friends each got rooms here for a weekend in Memphis. It has so much charm and style. You won't find a better place with such a great location at a reasonable price. Peabody is right across the street so you can experience all it has to offer without being stuck in a very small overpriced room. We had the Layla piano suite and had folks over during the day to watch football. It was perfect!

Yelp
THEE place to stay in Memphis!!! Talbot Heirs felt more like our home away from home in Memphis (Suite 6 was our abode). Large and spacious apartment-style accommodations: large marble floor throughout, family room, kitchen, large bathroom and large bedroom. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, a cereal and cereal bar selection for the next morning, chilled waters and milk in the refrigerator (every day). The entire right side of our pad was lined with windows and plantation shutters, plants lined the window sills (I don't even have this at home), you could hear the bustle of people outside, the buzz of the downtown. A quick 2-3 block walk to Beale Street, Talbot Heirs is perfectly located. Tom & Sandy Franck are the owners/managers of the property and boy do they make you feel welcome, like a part of the family, a local in Memphis, someone special ... From my initial call to reserve our Suite to the greeting we received upon arrival - first class all the way. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Memphis. We arrived into Memphis late, 11:15p our flight arrive, which I felt bad for Tom who we needed to wake to let us into our Suite. "Not a problem" says Tom as he eagerly greets us downstairs when we arrive in our taxi, ready to bring our luggage up the stairs. If you don't pay close attention, you just may drive past Talbot Heirs, the sign is subtle, more like an apartment building. Just the way it's planned. Tom got us settled in, gave us a map of the downtown area, outlined the free shuttle that can take us to Graceland (our #1 Agenda item of the next day) and some great places to take in all Memphis ... "Do you ladies drink beer?" Me: "Absolutely!" Before you know it, Tom is bringing us a 6-pack to add to our stocked refrigerator. Since Talbot Heirs has full kitchens in each Suite, guests stock their fridges for their stay and sometimes don't finish their adult bevvies and thus leave them for Tom & Sandy. And this was our added benefit - a 6-pack to start our trip! :) We were only in Memphis for 2 nights and were so sad to say Bye to Tom and Sandy. As Tom helped us pack-up the taxi on our way out of town, a big hug and "come see us again" ... Yes, you will!!!

Yelp
I'll reiterate everything that's already been said about how great Talbot Heirs Guesthouse is, and how friendly and accommodating Tom and Sandy are as hosts. This little eight-room gem in downtown Memphis was a joy to stay at, and centrally located across from the Peabody. It's easy to walk to downtown museums, Beale Street, FedEx Forum, Tom Lee Park. The suites themselves are large, clean and comfy. We didn't want to leave our room it was so nice. The rate is super affordable, and there is affordable parking nearby that they'll give you a keycard for, so the charge can be put on your bill at checkout. They just ask that you call them on your way into town, where they'll meet you at the entrance, unload your car, and drive with you to the parking lot. The hallways and suites are nicely decorated with outsider art, and Tom & Sandy are a font of knowledge, and will get to know their guests and make sure they're comfortable getting around Memphis. There's a kitchenette and refrigerator in each room, and the fridge is stocked with free water, orange juice- what a nice touch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, and I'm considering deleting this review entirely to keep this wonderful place a secret!

Yelp
There's nothing about the Talbot Heirs Guesthouse that makes it seem like a hotel. First, there's the entrance. It's a nondescript door sandwiched between a restaurant and a convenience store on Second St. It's the sort of door that, unless you're specifically looking for it, you'll miss completely. The rooms, which are all located on the second floor of the building, are less like hotel rooms and more like studio apartments. You could spend some serious time in these suites - each one has a full kitchen that come stocked with free snacks and water, and some have living rooms. They're all uniquely decorated, and most contain some kind of local art. One of the suites has a framed vintage poster from a Gladys Knight and the Pips show that owner Sandy Franck found in a trunk at her mother's house. Sandy and her husband Tom have operated the guesthouse six years. The Talbot Heirs is independently owned by their daughter, who is a producer on "America's Next Top Model". They see the Talbot Heirs as an alternative to the usual Memphis accommodations. They don't advertise beyond their website, and many of the hotel's guests come to them based on the recommendations of friends. As a result, Tom says, "We seem to get really interesting people." Based on their size and location downtown, I would have thought that rooms at the Talbot Heirs would be a lot more expensive than they are. A typical night's stay runs anywhere from $130 - $270, depending on the day and size of the room.

Erica B.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem of a hotel located on second street downtown. I've hesitated in reviewing it for some time now as it is kind of a secret. A phenomenal one at that. Talbot Heirs has only 8 rooms. Rooms is the wrong way to describe them. It's really six very large studio apartments and two one-bedroom apartments utilized for hotel stays. They have outdone themselves with the decorating. Each room has a different decorating theme going on, all very eclectic and all unusually gorgeous. They have their own kitchens stocked with dishes and all the usual kitchen necessities plus FREE snacks, milk, coffee, tea and goodies, a living room area, a bed and usually a desk for your laptop. I always have my out of town guests reserve a room here if they can. It is the cheapest option for an upscale hotel experience in the way of Memphis. Cheap is an understatement as these rooms will only run you $130 - $270 a night. I dare you to find something bigger, or nicer for that price. Yes, this place is nicer, a lot of times cheaper, and located right across the street from the Peabody. The owners are a dream- so friendly and willing to take the extra steps to make sure their 8 guests are comfy for the duration of their stay. It's cute, it's quaint, and I don't think I could ask for a better place to stay when vacationing.

Yelp
I am so happy I stayed here on our recent trip to Memphis. The owners Tom and Sandy were amazing, nice, and super helpful. They greeted us everyday to check in to see where we were going and offer up great directions, dining suggestions, or just awesome stories. We were in town for Gonerfest and couldn't have picked a better place to rest after a long night of shows in a smoky club. Cute rooms with great decorations, quirky paintings all over the place. Awesome kitchen stocked everyday with tea, coffee, cereals, granola bars and treats. Within waling distance of Beale St and across the street from the Peabody. Way less uppity than the Peabody and cheaper too! Will def stay here again whenever I am in Memphis, would never think of staying elsewhere :)

Yelp
Staying at Talbot Heirs made our visit to Memphis something truly special. To have the luxury of a one bedroom apartment instead of the usual hotel room allowed us to truly enjoy the city and feel at home at the end of a busy day. The location can't be bested since many sites are within walking distance or a short ride on the tram. We were met on arrival and our host even drove with my husband to the parking garage (very close by). The suite (#2) is spacious, comfortable, and very well kept. They even had a step for the rather high 4-poster bed. We had the extra added pleasure of playing the baby grande piano, too. Though the living room faced the sometimes noisy street, the bedroom was tucked away and we didn't hear the noise at all. The only objection someone might have is that the rooms are on the second floor and there is no elevator. If wheelchair accessibility is a concern, this would be a problem. If we ever return to Memphis, it's to Talbot Heirs we shall stay!

Yelp
Stay here! You will not regret it one bit! We stayed for Memphis in May 2019 and couldn't have been happier with Talbot Heirs Guesthouse. We Lyfted to the location and there were cones out near the curb with signs letting us know this is the place (kinda easy to miss as you're driving by). We buzzed and Mimi came down to get us (very pretty, nice young lady). From the moment we entered we noticed the décor was tasteful and well maintained. I especially loved the artwork displayed along the hall way leading to our room. We reserved guest room 8 near the office which didn't have a balcony but still exceeded our expectations. I loved the hardwood floors that creaked a little and the quirky furnishings that added to the overall character of Talbot Heirs. Our bed was very comfortable and sheets and pillows were just as nice. We had nice soft, fluffy towels and plenty of free snacks and water. In our bathroom there was a dark colored face towel with an embordered eye on it...I wondered, what is this about? I realized this was a face towel provided for people who wear makeup! I appreciate the attention to detail and this is what sets this guesthouse apart from other stuffy hotels. Our room was cleaned every morning, bed made and supplies replenished. It was so quiet we felt like we were the only ones there! Idk..maybe some people may not like the quiet aspect but we aren't spring chickens nor are we senior citizens but we enjoyed a quiet evening or two after a long days of walking around Memphis. Overall, the whole staff was phenomenal and truly made sure we were taken care of. If I had to say one thing I think they could change that would be, I'd like a king size bed instead of a queen. Even still, we will only stay at Talbot Heirs when visiting Memphis from now on.

Charlotte J.

Yelp
This is our second stay here. Each guest suit is different and truthfully we preferred the traditionally room we had our first stay better than the more contemporarily furnished one for this stay. However, it was comfortable and had a very homey feel. The manager welcomed us at the door and even rode with us to park our car in the provided parking garage and walk back with us, helping with the luggage. Convenient to many things in the area with easy walking. We'll be back.

Ellen F.

Yelp
Top of the line little guest house that I would recommend to anyone visiting the beautiful city of Memphis. The staff is warm, accessible & helpful. The rooms are tricked out with great amenities, gratis snacks & fantastic artwork. Located just a few blocks off Beale Street it is a fabulous place of lodging at a reasonable price. Thanks for a wonderful weekend - highest recommend!

Cindy D.

Yelp
This is a cute, comfortable and convenient place to stay if you're visiting Memphis! Jerry, the property manager, carried our bags, took us to the parking garage so we'd know just where to go and what to do, make great recommendations on sights and eats, and was just all-around friendly. The place was sparkling, the bed comfy, the shower great and the patio private. We'd definitely stay again! Right across from The Peabody and just 2-3 blocks from Beale St.

Yelp
Ladies and gents, I think we have a winner. I do believe this is the best hotel experience I've ever had. After a 17 hour drive, I was one cranky bastard, and Tom was there to greet us, and my mood quickly turned positive. Not only did he help us with all of our luggage, but he also went with me to park the car in the neighboring parking garage. He's about the nicest business owner I've ever met, and he sure knows how to make people feel welcome and appreciated. Our room was gorgeous, and bigger than my apartment. Nice and spacious bedroom and bathroom, kitchen, huge living room, and even some wonderful paintings and an eliptical machine. The bed was extremely comfortable, if a little creaky. We were also happy to find free juice and coffee in the room, along with some biscotti. Tom had also given us a map of the area, and listed off a few choice spots that him and his wife enjoy, which was really cool. I also really like how the hotel is always locked, and you let yourself in with your room key. The location is perfect. It's right on second street, and walking distance to pretty much anything you could want. The price is also way cheaper than many of the other local options. I would have to say our only complaint would be that there was a lot of drunken noise going on in the alley just outside our bedroom window which kept us up, but the hotel can hardly be faulted for that. Checking out was also very quick and painless, and Tom even rounded down what we owed for no reason except to be an awesome guy. I love this hotel, and I encourage you all to give Tom and his wife your business.

Briana M.

Yelp
I did a ridiculous amount of research to find the perfect place to stay during our ladies' pilgrimage to Graceland in Memphis. At first, I thought it would be perfect to stay at the Heartbreak Hotel, adjacent to Graceland - but, boy oh boy, was I glad that we didn't. Staying at Talbot Heirs felt like a godsend. Many people go to Memphis for the same reason we did: It's the home of Elvis Presley, the birthplace of the blues, and the site of MLK's assassination and now the Civil Rights Museum. Best part about Talbot Heirs is that it is smack dab in the middle of all those great sites. Beale Street is an easy walk, the Peabody and Lansky's is right across the street, and Graceland is a simple drive. What is Talbot Heirs and why is it so hard to find when doing a search of 'hotels' in Memphis? It is a guesthouse run by a Memphian couple in a space that is probably not meant to be a guesthouse: their daughter is a producer for America's Next Top Model, owns the building, so they have set up an awesome business within it. From street level, the only indication of its existence is a welcoming door snuggled between two restaurants. The rooms are all suites with full-sized kitchens, a living area, beds, and bathrooms. They are clean as a whistle and decorated comfortably with a mishmash of furniture and local art. The kitchens come stocked with a standard continental breakfast fare for every morning AND the owners will supply ANY special grocery requests just as long as you get it to them a couple weeks early (and you just pay for the groceries!). Garage parking is available. Best part: Tom and Patty are true Memphis ambassadors and will chat with you about your upcoming itinerary, recommend restaurants, give you some insiders' tips on what's going on around town. I kind of wish there is a Talbot Heirs in every city I visit...

Christina S.

Yelp
THIS IS IT! If you're looking for a place to stay in Memphis - look no further. TALBOT HEIRS GUESTHOUSE is your ticket. And Tom and Sandy --- you will not get rid of us now :-) For starters, this place is more like an apartment than it is a hotel. Only instead of taking care of your own bags and parking your car, Tom meets you on the street when you arrive, stops traffic, gets your bags out, and places them inside the "always locked" door. Then he will get in the car with you to drive you to the covered parking deck across the street. There couldn't be better arrival service anywhere! All the rooms are located on the 2nd floor, so you feel safe and sound when you stay ... Room #3 was ours for the evening, It was perfect for two. Sofa and chairs, queen sized bed with fluffy linens, large kitchen area, nice, clean bathrooms and it had a great little private deck outside - I just wish the weather was better so we could have enjoyed it. Int he morning, we had coffee and tea choices, juice, milk, cream waiting in the refrigerator, biscotti, oatmeal, cereal and some snacks - all included in the room fees. It was about the size of an efficiency apartment. There's not anything I would add to all the wonderful reviews here on YELP, except more accolades for Tom and Sandy, as they are the best!

Misty R.

Yelp
Talbot Heirs is hands down the best hotel in town. I hesitate to even call it a hotel since it is in a category all it's own, it's more of a boutique hotel. It's unique, charming and has the ultimate location without paying crazy prices. It's located right across the street from the Peabody within walking distances to the trolley line, Beale Street and Redbird Stadium. It's close enough to all of these great downtown attractions but quiet and peaceful- the perfect combination. There are eight studio suites each with a fully equipped kitchen. If you provide them with a grocery list they will have your kitchen fully stocked when you arrive. Each suite is uniquely decorated, but all suites offer high speed Internet access. It's a great business or leisure hotel. I honestly can not find one negative aspect of this hotel. This is saying a lot coming from me, I was in the hotel business for over 15 years. Do yourself a favor and book your room here.

Brian P.

Yelp
There isn't a better place to stay in all of Memphis. This little 8-room guest house tucked in between a store and a good little seafood joint just off Beale Street has style for days. All of the rooms are unique and completely awesome. Each has its own fully equipped kitchen and comes with a few tasty treats (granola bars, cookies, cereal, and OJ). Tom and Sandy are perfect hosts and definitely make it feel more like you are indeed a guest in their house than in their hotel. They will advise you on all that there is to do around town, including tons that are not anywhere near the mayhem of Beale Street. When I return to Memphis, I definitely will stay at the Talbot Heirs again.

Maggie H.

Yelp
this place is wonderful! My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. My mother in law is the one that found Talbot Heirs and made the reservation for us. She made an excellent choice. My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was nicely decorated and was very home like. The kitchen area was fully stocked with dishes, utensils and pots and pans. The refridgerator had a few bottles of water, juice and a few snacks. Talbot Heirs is located downtown near Beale Street and there is plenty to do within walking distance. I can't wait to go back to Memphis and stay here again.

Sandy E.

Yelp
Talbot Heirs Guesthouse is AS GOOD AS IT GETS! From the moment you enter it feels like home. A four day weekend with great friends was completely enhanced by this amazing home away from home! Tom and Sandy were the perfect hosts, the rooms are immaculately clean and freshened up daily. Fresh coffee, orange juice, milk, cereal and granola bars, and yummy biscotti each day are laid out in your very own kitchen. It was great to sprawl out in our living room after a day of walking around beautiful, friendly Memphis! If you are staying in Memphis... this is the only place to be!

Debbie M.

Yelp
Found while searching on the Internet. Tom & Sandy were VERY gracious hosts. Tom met us at the door to unload. Once back at the guesthouse he gave us recommendations for dinner. Suite 3 was great - loved the industrial look of the shower! Accommodations were top notch. Coffee, tea, cereal & snacks hit the spot. Hugs when we left from our new friend Sandy. Great visit & will be back.

Yelp

Yelp
Talbot Heirs is the place to be. I cannot recall where I found them online, perhaps here on Yelp. All the rave reviews you see on here are true. A small place in terms of number of rooms, but spacious well kept suites. Comfortable, with everything you need. It gets better though. Stay here and you are right in the middle of just about everything. Graceland is way out of the way, but you probably don't want to stay near Graceland anyway, there is not much else over there. Based out of Talbot Heirs you can walk to most fun things to see and do. Tom and Sandy are great. Very nice couple; we enjoyed getting acquainted with them. Yup, it's true, Tom will meet you on the street and get you taken care of.

Keith G.

Yelp
I just took a job in Memphis and, arriving 5 days ago, needed a place to stay until my apartment was ready. I consulted Yelp in advance and, on the strength of the reviews, booked my stay at Talbot Heirs. So glad that I did!!! The great Yelp reviews are spot on. The hospitality of Tom and Sandy is second-to-none. My big, comfy and clean room, beautifully restored hardwood floor, the outdoor deck... I can go on, but you get the picture. Bottom line: I may be moving into my own residence, but anyone I know who visits Memphis will be told they must stay at Talbot Heirs. Period. Full stop.

Amanda J.

Yelp
Clean, friendly, rooms are really nice, and it's literally right next to Beale St. Would definitely stay here again!

Jess H.

Yelp
Oh goodness. What can I say about this place that hasn't been said? It's in a great location in terms of downtown Memphis. The owners are about the best people you can run across, I could have chatted with them for hours, they just seem to be really genuine chill people. I bet they have a ton of interesting stories. The hotel itself is BEAUTIFUL. It's more like an apartment! The bed was so comfortable, the bathroom was huge (great water pressure) our living room even had an elliptical machine in it! Whoever decorated these rooms needs to decorate my house. I loved it. The paintings were probably one of my favorite parts; there's a huge one of an alligator I was particularly fond of. Beale street was maybe a 5 minute stroll away, Rendezvous was 2 minutes, and Mud Island was a 20 minute walk. We parked our car in the garage & didn't have to drive all weekend, it was great. If I ever come back to Memphis I will definitely stay here-bonus its pretty cheap too. Why the hell would you want to stay anywhere else?

Crystal T.

Yelp
The ONLY place to stay when visiting Memphis! Do not let the exterior fool you....you'll be WOWED and pleased with the spacious, comfy, and brightly colored rooms once you're inside. A very boutique feel without the boutique price. It's centrally located right across the street from the famous Peabody Hotel, and within a short walking distance to Beale Street and the trolley line. The only thing that tops the rooms and the prime location are the proprietors themselves. Tom (who is warm, folksy, and oozing with his unique blend of southern charm) greeted us on the street when we arrived, helped us to our room with our luggage, and personally drove with us to the garage around the corner to assist with parking. In hindsight, we realize we could have stayed an extra day or two in Memphis just to hangout in our balconied room and to spend more time chatting with Tom. I fully agree with all the sentiments expressed in the 5-star ratings that precede mine. Don't visit Memphis unless you can get a room at the Talbot Heirs Guesthouse!

Juli R.

Yelp
We stayed here on our last visit to Memphis (Sept 2008) and I'll never stay anywhere else. The owners & staff are very friendly, we would often pop into the office and sit down and talk. They were very accommodating to our then 3 1/2 year old. We Stayed in suite one, it had it's own kitchen, they provided a rollaway for our son. Very private, quite and super cute. It felt like we had our own apartment. Close walk to the trolley, Beale Street, plus Sandy & Tom will give you the low-down about what's happening around town.

Don M.

Yelp
I haven't surveyed all the places to stay in Memphis but would highly recommend Talbot Heirs Guesthouse. There's local art on the walls. The suites are each different and stocked with complimentary snacks and drinks that are resupplied. Parking is additional and is in a garage a block over but wasn't that much of a hassle in my opinion. The proprietors really make this place shine with their friendliness and helpful recommendations.

Scott J.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I would never consider staying anywhere else in Memphis. The owners are unbelievably friendly. Tom & Patty are always smiling ear-to-ear and are happy to give you directions to anywhere in town. When I arrived, they carried all of our bags to our room. Tom even offered to hop in my car to show me where the parking was in the area! The room was stocked with all kinds of good freebies like milk, cereal, coffee, tea, biscotti, and snack bars. It was awesomely decorated and had a kitchen. The room was big and so was the bed. There was a CD player/radio too! The hotel is right in the heart of Memphis. So you can walk to plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. The only thing I can think of that might bother someone, is the little TV. If you plan on watching a lot of television, get ready to watch it on a TV screen the size of a microwave. We didn't watch any TV, so it didn't matter to us. Overall, this is an awesome hotel. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Lyndel A.

Yelp
You can stop looking for the best place to stay in Memphis now - you've found it. The hosts are amazing, the location is unbeatable - a short stroll from Beale St. Our room was big, with a kitchen and some nibblies to keep us going. My parents are visiting Memphis soon, and I'm sending them to Talbot Heirs.

R B.

Yelp
Such a great place! The location is perfect, the rooms are spacious, clean, and completely stocked with everything you could need, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. There are only 8 suites in the guesthouse and it is very quiet. Tom and Sandy are great folks that really appreciate Memphis and all that it has to offer. If you want to hear some great stories about the local artists and musicians, these two will keep you entertained. It is not like any hotel you will ever stay at; it is more like staying at your own home with your friends just next door. Look no further...this is the place to stay in Memphis if you want to be guaranteed a positive experience!

Yelp
The Talbot Heirs Guesthouse is THE place to stay in downtown Memphis. Tom and Sandy are the best. We were greeted by Tom who helped us unload the luggage and then took me to the parking garage. When we got back to the guesthouse, he showed us our room and provided us some tips as we visited the city.. Check in/out was a breeze. The location was the best. It's a block and 1/2 from Beale St. The room was more of a studio apartment then a hotel suite. It was clean and well decorated. Snacks, juice, milk, coffee, and tea were provided each day and it was included in the price of the room. The furnishings were tasteful. The bed was very comfortable. You really couldn't ask for more. It doesn't get any better than the Talbot Heirs. Thank you for a great stay!

Yelp
Awesome! Our daughter and her 5 friends from the U of Ark took rooms 3 and 8. It was the S. Main Arts Festival, Grizzlies played on Fri night and Halloween(ing) all converged to make for a great weekend. Jerry was super! Very helpful. The Talbot Heirs nearly hidden entrance only adds to the mystique of this rare gem. There are too many plus's to mention at the Talbot Heirs Guesthouse.

Yelp
We were very pleased with Talbot Heirs Guest House. Our instructions were to call the manager just prior to arriving by car, so he could meet us at the curb. Our luggage was taken was taken to room six while Tom the manager went with my husband to park the car in a parking garage. Parking is $10 a day. There are eight rooms, on the second floor. There is not an elevator.. Our room was a suite which had a large living room a full kitchen nice bathroom and a large bedroom. It was nicely decorated, right down to the violet plants in the window. When we checked in one of the managers spent time with us telling us about the sites in Memphis were as well her recommendations for restaurants and clubs. There is laundry facilities available later in the day. The manager always has their door open so that guests can be free to come and ask questions anytime. The location is perfect, is near Beale Street, as well as other museums. I highly recommend Talbot Heirs Guest House.

Yelp
This place was amazing. If you're coming to Memphis and need a place to stay this is the place. I was here on a work trip and they knew exactly which restaurants and attractions to recommend. The rooms are great, but bring some ear plugs just in case because you are in the city and right next to a restaurant. The entrance is lovely and the whole place reminds me of an apartment in San Francisco. All in all I loved this place and will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Spent 5 days in Memphis for the International Blues Competition. Stayed at Talbot Heirs and loved it. Positives: Tom and Sandy were great and very helpful; the room and kitchen were attractive, comfortable and stocked with all necessities, including cereals, juice, coffee, health bars, etc.; 2 blocks from Beale Street - close enough to party, but just far enough away to avoid the noise; one room had a piano and we were fortunate enough to hear an extremely talented 15 year old play. Negatives: we always prefer a king bed, but the positives demolished this one negative. Can't think of any other negatives. We booked again for next year. The 5 day international blues competition finals (with over 200 acts from all over the world) should be seen by anyone who has any love for music - it was just spectacular and a great buy.

Yelp
As if you couldn't tell from the other reviews, this place is great. I stayed for two nights in two different suites (because I decided later on to add an extra night in Memphis), and both were great. I was traveling from Boston to Austin by myself with a full car of stuff, and I was really concerned about parking my very obviously full car in a public garage. The owner reassured me about the safety of the garage they use, met me outside the hotel, and drove with me to the parking garage to pick out a spot in a corner near video cameras. He also stayed with me while I removed the soft car top carrier from the top of my car. I really appreciated him going out of his way to make sure I felt comfortable. He also gave recommendations for restaurants nearby. Really great place to stay when you want a more personal touch and local vibe.

Yelp
I called these folks last year to get a room when we were visiting our daughter in Memphis. But, they were full. But, I did think ahead for this year. I contacted them a year ago and reserved room 4. They asked if I was coming to the music fest. I said, no...I am coming in 2013 for our daughters graduation from college. They responded and told me that this was good and they would contact me near the end of the year to get an updated credit card number. Well, they just contacted me and told me they gave our room to someone else and moved us to room 8. I don't get it. We booked a year ago. Why did they move us and not the other folks? Whatever. We aren't staying there this time. I found a less expensive place for us to stay, with a full breakfast instead of dry muffins in the fridge. I am bummed by this. I thought they were really great. The rooms are still nice. I just don't like to be treated this way.

Yelp
I loved my stay at the Talbot Heirs! Tom and Sandy are so friendly and helpful; from welcoming you at the street, carrying your bags up, making restaurant suggestions, and just daily chit-chat.... they were such great hosts. I had the opportunity to stay in Room #3; complete with a living area, bedroom area, full kitchen, table for 6, spa-like bathroom, two closets, and a private patio! The towels in the bathroom were amazing, I plan on buying some just like it for my house. I loved how tall the bed was, really made me feel like a queen. The bedding was fresh and I can honestly say I slept better than I would have at home. I've lived in Denver, and this room was as big as my downtown Denver 1-bdrm apartment. I would recommend staying at the Talbot Heirs over any other hotel (Peabody, Winston, etc). I was there for a conference at the Peabody, and it was great to be located directly across the street. I think my commute to the conference was just as far as those who were staying in the Peabody. Easy access down to Beale Street for dinner and live music. You won't regret staying at the Talbot Heirs!

Yelp
I would give this place a six star if I could. We stay here when ever we are in Memphis, the staff is always pleasant and helpful and the rooms are always clean and inviting. Best little hideaway in Memphis.
