11 Best Street Food Spots in Bangkok

"Taling Chan Floating Market is exactly what you pictured when you planned your trip to Thailand. Once you walk in the entrance, past the plants and flowers, the smell of fried fish hits you. Ahead you'll see a small, narrow river flanked by traditional longboats serving every type of seafood imaginable. Little old ladies will grill octopus, shrimp, fish and more on their tiny boats as a frenzy of catfish splash around in the background. An entire salt-crusted grilled fish is a must, as are grilled prawns." - Katie Lockhart

Visiting Bangkok: My Suggested 3-5 Day Itinerary for 2025

"Taling Chan is more touristy than other floating markets, so I advise getting there early; it’s not the best place to shop but it’s excellent for people-watching and eating, and both Taling Chan and Khlong Lat Mayom can be reached by public transport." - Matthew Kepnes

The 22 Best Things to Do in Bangkok (Updated 2025)

"As the most popular of Bangkok’s main floating markets, Thaling Chan is busy and best visited early to beat tour groups; like other floating markets it’s a chaotic, aromatic place with lots of cheap food and a very unique atmosphere." - Matthew Kepnes

Taling is definitely more local focused so if you wish to step outside of the tourist environment then visit this floating market. We took a tour on the boat which led to another market we could walk for 20 minutes. Total boat experience was 1 hrs and 20 minutes. Not a lot at the 2nd market but you can grab something to eat but overall think of it as a local flea market (US type). That said, the tour guide was very social she pointed 2 or 3 places and that's why I give it 4 stars. Taling was a great place for fresh fruits and affordable souvenirs and even some clothing items. Easy to get to using Grab - easy drop off and pick spots.

A very nice market with so many different foods and drinks to try. All the people are super friendly. Try as much as you can because it's all great. I would say caution with the floating market tour at the back. When I went the tour took us to another market and dropped us off, we didn't get to shop from the boat. Also when they dropped us off they only gave us 5 minutes to explore the new market. Needless to say. They left us and we had to get a taxi back.

The Floating Market was really nice! There were many dessert options, and I went with a friend — we tried the salt-crusted fish, tilapia. I think it’s the best place in Bangkok to eat that! The price was very cheap, and the fish was huge. It was amazing to feel the whole market vibe with the boats passing by. 8.5/10 🌊🐟 I’m Brazilian and have a travel agency in Peru — Machu Picchu, Cusco 🇵🇪 @dopkertravel. If you visit Peru, I can help you! ✈️

If you're looking for a quaint, off-the-beaten-path experience, this floating market is a hidden gem. Unlike the more popular markets, it's not very crowded and you won't find too many tourists here. The street food is a highlight – delicious, cheap, and plentiful. The community feel is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to relax and soak in the local culture. Highly recommended for those seeking an authentic and peaceful market experience.

Not what we expected. Only 1 vendor in a boat. Better to advertise as a food market, street food. 2 vendors with herbal balm / massage oils, products fantastic. A couple with clothing and some souvenirs. 300 thb for boat ride.

A very interesting local market, an "absolute must-visit" destination for a food experience you "must try". You can get there from central Bangkok using many types of transport; if you have a large group and are not restricted by time, taking one of the many very cheap bus routes is a great option.

Wasn't what we expected but it was still nice to see, thought we could take a boat to a bunch of shops and sight see on the way through 📸 we just walked through and browsed the shops, it took 15 minutes. We got a beer and sat at the bamboo benches, chill vibe, music playing, friendly people. The boat ride is 300 baht each but we didn't take the boat ride.

The market here is small, but it is better than the one further away because you can tak a boat from there and be transported to another location. We decided to stay and roam around the area before taking a taxi back to our hotel. You don't have to pay any ticket except the boat trip The parking can be challenging better take a taxi. It is worth to take the boat trip to another place.
