"Housed in the Talla na Mara Community Enterprise Centre on the Isle of Harris, this picturesque restaurant overlooks the golden sands of Niseaboist Beach and Taransay Sound. Here, in this most-photographed location, chef Sam Barnes serves fresh, local seafood alongside melt-in-your-mouth cakes. What truly sets the Machair Kitchen apart, however, is its cultural programming, which ranges from music events with award-winning folk singers to photography shows, movie nights, and more. (Note: The restaurant is only open from spring to autumn.)"

A must visit - if not for the tasty cake and locally roasted coffee - then definitely for the views! Dog friendly, vegan options, super friendly staff. 👍😁

This is an absolute gem of a place to stop. We stopped for some food and sat outside. The view is simply stunning, and I would say it must be one of the best views from a cafe in the UK.

Gorgeous cafe and gift shop. The views from the cafe are amazing and the coffee and cakes were excellent (GF choices available). The gift shop is small but full of beautiful, local gifts. I bought one of the Reed diffusers that smells amazing.

Friendly Staff, Lovely Views. Soup and House salad, Hummus and Sundried Tomato Ciabatta is all SVF vegan friendly. And the Chips are cooked separately. They do Oat Milk aswell. More options for dinner.

This is a beautiful site with good facilities with hot, clean showers. There's a bistro onsite which is dog friendly, and a lovely art shop of local artists.

We were camping at a nearby site, and since the weather turned (as is often the case in this end of the world, I'm told), we've decided to book a meal here. (I strongly suggest booking ahead to avoid disappointment). We've arrived on time to be welcomed by attentive staff and small but very pleasant restaurant. I was quickly told that the place is dog friendly, and they had no issues with me bringing the German sheppherd inside. After being sat down, the menu came out with very reasonable prices and sensible choice of food. The starters came out nice and quick and were small but amazing. The taste, the texture, the smell, and the way the meal was served were brilliant and were a sign of things to come. The mains did not disappoint either, with a great meal and a decently sized portions. And then came time for dessert, which again was absolutely amazing. All in all this was an experience of a meal prepared by a chef who was a maestro in his field and served by staff who were cheerful and happy. Ahh... one more thing... the view from the restaurants are amazing!

A beautiful place to stop for a pleasant bite. The fish finger ciabatta was decent and came with tasty chips but a garnish of salad would have rounded it off nicely. The burgers looked great. Kids enjoyed their pasta. Short walk to gorgeous sandy beach.
