It was absolutely beautiful. I loved seeing all the buildings. It was rich with history. There were also classes for kids, a playground, zip lines for adults and children. I loved seeing the different animals, the trails and the dinosaurs made from I think car parts. We got to pet a snake as well

Whitney Larson

Google
Took a trip up from PCB. New to Florida, so it was great to see some history & wildlife about the state. Clever to do both in one! We are a military family & we went on Labor Day, we got in free!

Debbie Weatherhead

Google
We went on the off chance and really didn't know what to expect. Wow. What a surprise, the animals were so visible and it had a super relaxing feel. Great to stroll through and the informative exhibits were engaging. Definitely recommend for 3plus hours. Superb value!

Google
Did the tree to tree canopy tour. Soar through the cypress swamps, tree top to tree top like Tarzan and Jane (before me2 made it creepy). The full tree top rope and zip line course costs about $55 and takes about 7,200 seconds or 120 minutes or 2 hours for those who don’t do math. Michael our guide was the best. Plenty of speed and altitude to the zip lines and lots of cool obstacles to transverse. Concurring the course with the right people and energy is a game changer.

Google
It was great! Very hot, but a nice mix of nature and history. They had a great event with local beer and local music tonight, Swamp Stomp. Will definitely be back next year!

Google
When I visit Tallahassee, FL, this place is always a must do and see!! If you like zoos, this is probably one of the best, but you won't see every animal like you would at a regular zoo!! This is a State Park, and they take in wild animals that may have been injured, abandoned, or whatever else may happen to the wild animals in their natural habitat.

Google
This place was awesome. My kids loved it. The dinosaur sculptures.are very cool. The volunteers and staff answer all your questions, are very helpful, and super sweet. We had a great time.

Amy Kay Furtys

Google
We enjoy coming for events and visits to see the animals. The 1880s working farm is really neat too. The ground is uneven, so be prepared for that. There is a ropes course and a zip line. There are a lot of other animals to see also.

Yelp
We were looking for something to do for the day and decided to take a ride to the Tallahassee Museum. It is more outside, so don't forget water to keep yourself hydrated. We loved the car part dinasaurs and the animals. The staff was friendly. The nature trail was a little boring and not well marked, but it didn't stop us from loving the experience.

Yelp
This summer I visited tally with my 3.5 year old and our close friend brought us to this museum! Things I wish I knew beforehand: wear tennis shoes (it's mostly outside with lots of walking), bring the stroller for my lazy toddler, don't pack food because their cafe is awesome with a variety of meals and snacks. The animal tour we took was where my kiddo struggled the most...he's not ready for long walks or zoos. The playground at the end made the whole trip worth every minute!

Yelp
So much fun! It was a great way to spend an afternoon. So many animals to see. We're even found a kitty walking around asking for pets. We can't wait to try the zipline next time.

Yelp
Animals galore! The animals were out and easy to find today. You do have to look close up in the trees and in hiding areas . This Tallahassee museum has many places to walk over wooden decks to see animals from great vantage points and from the ground. Today, we were lucky enough to see Grey tree foxes, enormous black bears ( they must be eating well and not getting much exercise),Florida panther, bobcats, and even Grey wolves . They have a ton of activities and we even went back in history with Ms Juith to talk about the nostalgic farm houses from the 1880s that are on property. If you are lucky enough to visit on Saturday she might even make her famous ginger snap cookies.

M W.

Yelp
Only had an hour to visit so we went around the boardwalk and saw the animals. We enjoyed the time we had here so much that we plan to come back. It seemed a little older but we found it unique and a good price.

Yelp
Such an impressive operation. Way more than meets the eye. It's part zoo, part history museum, part adventure park. Most of the expansive, well maintained grounds are shaded by live oaks, so it's not uncomfortably hot even on a 98 degree Saturday afternoon. There are several air-conditioned buildings to pop into, just in case, including a snack bar with cold beer available. The front office staff and those overseeing the ropes courses are all super friendly and helpful. Definitely looking forward to another visit!

Yelp
My adult son and I checked this place out after looking for something to do outside. We so enjoyed our day. Many things to see. It was awesome to see people of every age there finding things to enjoy. We also went on the lovely walking trail as well. We were very happy to have found it!

Yelp
"Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" - Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz Well, they had a Florida panther and a black bear so that is two thirds true. I did not do the zip lining though that did look like fun. Instead, I took nearly two hours to tour the outside catwalk area that goes around several outdoor animal habitats. It was interesting to see the deer, foxes, and snakes from above and even the bear. I felt safe from anything trying to get up there. The snake habitat was also pretty cool and a few of them were actively moving around in their tanks. Creepy but fun! There are other outdoor things to look at and experience though the interactive activities remain closed off because of COVID. [Review 14085 overall, 1407 of 2020, number 1147 in Florida.]

Yelp
What a nice little animal park this place is. Now there are some historical buildings on the grounds. So I guess it is a museum by definition. But with pandemic protocols in place, most were closed. I enjoyed exploring the trails through the old buildings and taking a peek inside. Strolling through the animal park section, you'll see a few cool animals like wolves, bobcats, deer, and cougars...to name a few. There's also some dinosaur sculptures made from car parts. Throughout the park there's are a few zip line courses. To zip, there's an additional fee that you need to pay at the admissions window. The dirt parking lot has a lot of spots but it was packed when I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. While parking, I saw a white squirrel running around...I've never seen one of them before.

Yelp
I have adored this place since childhood. Today, I'm not quite as enamored. This place is still a gem, but it's not the oasis of fascinating experiences and information it was decades ago. Today, it is tired and worn, overgrown and unkempt. That aside, it's still a good place to spend a day outside and see a variety of plants and animals. A warning, this is not a wheelchair accessible experience. You can trudge through the grounds with a really sturdy wheelchair, but be prepared to push it through sand again and again. Sadly, I can't give our visit more than 3 stars. If you've never visited don't let the rating deter you, it's a sweet spot, just not as sweet as it has been.

Yelp
My daughter and I love going to the Tallahassee Museum. This is a great location to explore, have fun, learn and enjoy nature. They have many things to do. We love to look at the farm animals then take a trip to the playground. After burning off some energy, we move on to the other animals like turkeys, deer, fox, bobcats, wolves, otters and more. They also have some historical things to look at as well, like an old train car, one room school house, church and plantation home. You can spend loads of time here and it's a great way to spend the day. The also sell food and drinks (very affordable) so great spot for lunch as well!

Yelp
We have been coming here for years each time we visit family in Tallahassee. It is a very interesting and engaging place for young kids. Safe, open, lots to do! It is part zoo, part playground, part history park and part zip line adventure. The history part is very cool. It does feel like you are in an old town back in the 1800's and you can walk inside all the buildings. Blacksmith area, working farm, houses, general store...etc. They have a full plantation house, an old schoolhouse and a red train caboose you can walk through. Highly recommended for kids and teens! The zoo part is good as well. A good selection of animals in their natural environments. The path is well shaded. The zip line was awesome. About $50 for the full course, which I would highly recommend doing. The first half of the course is more obstacles and some short zip lines. The second half is the really high and long zip lines....dont just pay for the short course....you will miss all the best lines and views! Will continue to go here and hope more people visit and support this great museum.

Yelp
We had a great time, lots of great things to see. Love to learn the history of Florida. It was another great Tucker adventure.
google avatar

Carol S.

Yelp
Unfortunately we were there in the afternoon and the animals were hiding because it was so hot out. I would recommend going when they open.

Sharon B.

Yelp
Such a great place to take the kids and any adults who want to experience wildlife and the wilderness . Hands on learning!

Yelp
The Tallahassee "Junior " Museum is always a good choice for our family. We have 17 month old babies, kindergarteners and twenty somethings to entertain at times. This organization has been consistently good over the years and today isn't any different. Visiting Tallahassee? Don't miss it.
google avatar

Yelp
This was fantastic, we really did not know what we were going to see so it was all a surprise. Not many people were around. Quite unique and a good few hours well spent.
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
One of the worst, rudest interactions I have ever experienced. Poor customer service from a representative who doubled down on being rude and wrong after multiple pieces of evidence was supplied to the contrary. Beware! Never setting foot within a mile of the place ever again.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the beauty that is North Florida. Plus they have awesome animals, historic buildings, and lots of space to run and see nature at its finest. We've been taking our son here since he was a baby and he absolutely loves it. It's one of our family's favorite places to go!
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
The animals and car part dinosaurs are Grand I love them I love the Seaboard air line caboose
google avatar

Yelp
This place was awesome you have to go there we're in the right gear if you are going to walk around and enjoy especially if you're going to do the zip lining there's three different courses each one gets a little more intense but guaranteed your kids will have fun and you will too, many things to see and enjoy even with Covid

Jamie S.

Yelp
Our absolute favorite place during our vacation! Is was perfect for our travel to get kids out of the car and walk around before finishing the other half of our drive.

Yelp
Absolutely love the Tallahassee Museum! The Zipline & food choices are honestly immaculate especially for an intimate group like 3-5.

Yelp
I grew up visiting the Tallahassee Museum on the reg. It's located on a beautiful piece of land. The views from of lake Bradford/lake Hiawatha from the boardwalk are beautiful. Growing up, I loved it - I think most small kids still will. I recently revisited with my 5 year old niece who loved pointing out the red wolves and bob "kitty kats". While I, like her, love being able to see Florida wildlife up close, I hate the state this museum/park is in. Walking along the wildlife trail, you're greeted by large banners with the animals of the park, but the informational panels about the animals are absolutely ancient and falling apart. The railings on the boardwalk are soft and warped, which is especially dangerous thanks to the fall and gator-ridden waters of Hiawatha beneath. Certain segments of the boardwalk are so decrepit that they have been blocked off completely. Don't even get me started on the "nature trail". If you're from Florida - this is just your backyard, but larger. If you're not from Florida, it's still not worth your time. It's a large field of brush, scrub and weeds vaguely circled by an ill-defined path (no ropes, just intermittent stumps). If you were hoping to get the weeds identified, think again - you'll see 1-2 faded tree identification signs buried in the trees as you walk. With the lack of attention shown to their facilities, it makes me wonder how much attention the animals are given.

Yelp
This place was cute. Visiting Tallahassee. I wouldn't say it's a museum, more like a outdoor park? It has some animals, and some houses to see how people loved before. My favorite thing was, what I call the swamp trees. Very beautiful place. Not sure if I would go again. But if you have kids it would be fun.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
This is a great place to go with friends, family, and even young kids. I had some friends visiting from south Florida so I wanted them to do something fun and outdoors. We tried the tree to tree adventures at the museum. We did the intermediate level adventure which was about $28 a person. First you are guided to an area where you sign a waiver, get your equipment, and learn how to complete the adventure. Ours was called canopy crossing and included a mixture of obstacles in the canopy of the tree and ziplining. Our instructor showed us all the skills necessary on the ground and then we practiced until we were good enough to be signed off to begin the obstacle. Some of the obstacles were scary and I wouldn't recommend if you are scared of heights. The zip lines were a ton of fun but shorter than expected. This adventure took about an hour to complete. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is great for kids needing some activity and educational enrichment. 2 1/2 year old loved all of it.

Yelp
The Tallahassee Museum is a must see when in Tallahassee. They have an animal exhibit featuring rescued animals native to Flordia (Make sure you visit the otters!) with educational information about them. Elevated walkways provide good views of the animals along with a nice stroll through natural Flordia swamp lands. While I have not got the chance to try it yet, an elevated ropes course traverses through much of the park providing a fun and unique experience for an additional cost. While the museum is not completely handicap assessable, due to some of the elevated walkways, they do provide a golf cart free of charge for help getting around. Especially since the ground is natural (i.e. dirt).

Nathaniel W.

Yelp
Our family visited this museum a couple weeks ago and had a wonderful time. The exhibit were great for kids and offered plenty in the way of fun and education. The zip line course was a blast. We will be returning.
google avatar

Madelynn F.

Yelp
Took my two-year-old and five-year-old niece here while we were visiting Florida. Good to see the Florida nature and wildlife that Florida has to offer. We saw a black bear, panther, foxes, Wolf, vultures, so much more. They have zip lines for adults and kids that run throughout. The facility. Beautiful with the swamp and the trees. There was an indoor fish tank area, but there were no fish. Right outside of that there were many turtles of various different sizes. They have a wooden plank walkway through out that you used to see the animals (stroller friendly) In the back they have some old-time cabins where we actually saw people forge a sword/knife. They have a snack bar. It's small and the line was superlong. But it was better than nothing. They had sandwiches, Gatorade, chips, etc.

Chantal E.

Yelp
We love Tallahassee Museum! I take friends and family anytime someone visits from out of town.
google avatar

Sal S.

Yelp
Loved the three zip courses! Truly great and a bit challenging as you progress from one to another. We didn't do any walking as we were stopping over on our way to South Florida, but looking forward to possibly stopping there again next time we drive through.
google avatar

Nancy D.

Yelp
We had a blast celebrating Scarlett's 2nd birthday with this fun outing. The layout is easy to understand & you get a nice view of the enclosures with the set up. The dinosaur exhibits made from old car parts was truly creative. Hoping to do the tree top excursion once she's a bit older.
google avatar

Yelp
A great deal has changed at the Tallahassee Museum since I came years ago (about 2004 or 2005). They have enclosed their cafe (hooray, the previous was just screened in and hot in summer), added zip lining courses for young and old (you must meet certain height requirements to do the higher course), added a dinosaur path made of old car parts (very cool), and a playground with newer kid-friendly parts (mural, chimes you can play, climbing wall with rope, slides). Unfortunately the Bradford bridge you can cross over was closed due to flooding, but the entire property is gorgeous. Patrons are able to see the south at its finest, cypress trees dipped in ebony waters with moss stringing along the trees like Edison bulbs strewn about an outdoor seating area. My kids loved it and thanked me for taking them. Customers get a chance to see an old Florida farm in real life (a few of the structures date back to the late 1800's) and enjoy history in a real world setting. I highly recommend this stop for those with kids or those who like to enjoy the outdoors and see native wildlife.

Yelp
Brought my 9 year old granddaughter to Tallahassee for a birthday weekend. This was one of many places we visited. It was an excellent choice. Next time we will add zip lining to the adventure!! Don't forget to stop by the kitchen in the old cabin and watch the treats being made in the wood stove. Very tasty indeed. Brought back memories of my grandmother cooking in the kitchen
google avatar

Yelp
The Tallahassee Museum is nostalgia exemplified and squared and multiplied by infinity. Not a lot has changed since I started coming here oh, around 30 years ago. There is a zipline, a playground, they really spruced up the cafe, there is a really awesome exhibit by Jim Gary that features dinosaurs made out of old car parts that loom about in the swamp, and that's about it. The old classrooms are exactly the same, the gift shop still sells those candy sticks that taste so good and easily can be licked into a lethal shank, and all of the animals are the same (I still never see the alligator whom I presume may or may not have escaped years ago). The farm animals still hold on tight to their stomping grounds, and the old turn of the century Florida cabin simulations still make my imagination run wild (that 19th century outhouse though! #gratefulformodernplumbing). The Tallahassee Museum also features really impressive and well curated events from music festivals, to canning and blacksmith classes to their hilarious Valentines Day event wining and dining lucky patrons and then educating them on animal mating practices. Although the Tallahassee Museum may not be on par with, say, the San Diego Zoo or Smithsonian, it is unique, special, and captivating for little ones and adults alike and I'm really happy that it has stuck around these past several decades.
google avatar

Tameka M.

Yelp
Excellent museum with extensive land space for the animals to roam in their captive state, respectively. Captured stellar pictures; thanks to the natural scenery as it is the "real Florida!" Looking forward to visiting again in the near future. #itsamazingoutthere
google avatar

L Donice W.

Yelp
This is a great place to spend a few hours at with friends and family and very affordable too. There's tons of history here with great exhibits as well. We saw the blacksmith making forks and spoons today. My son thought that was super cool. We also saw a few people ziplining. It looked pretty fun so we might give that a try next time. All in all we spent almost 3 hours here and we had an excellent time!
google avatar

Yelp
Got a membership here, which is a good deal! It is a great place to take kids. They have a decent amount of things to see, with lots of animals. It's more zoo than museum, IMO. There is a Florida farm section with barnyard animals and great depictions of how life was in the big bend back in the day. There is also the Florida wildlife which as everything from bears to wolves. One of my son's favorite places to stop is the train caboose, which is next to the plantation house which is also pretty neat to walk through. They also have a playground, but it has a steep slide which my son is now terrified of, haha. Their zip line/ ropes course looks awesome and is always popular... too bad I'm pregnant and can't take advantage of that one. The only negative is that it gets too dang hot in the middle of the summer. TIP: don't wear flip flops, you walk on dirt and mulch most of the time.

Quen D.

Yelp
Had great exhibitions and animals to view. Had a very nice time and the staff was very nice

Jason B.

Yelp
Did the museum and moderate ropes course. It was awesome!! You have to come do this. The staff was really helpful even though it is a self paced course. Even in 90 degree weather. I give it 5 stars. Love a ropes and zip line course!!
google avatar

Taryn C.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful experience here. This museum is worth the trip to Tallahassee alone if you have kids. We spent the entire day and could have even spent one more. We are traveling because of the hurricane and everyone at the museum was welcoming and kind. They offered reduced rate admission and shared their membership discount on all other purchases. Our older kids did the beginner zip line. It was perfect for kids from five to ten at least (there was a height restriction, I think it might have been 40 inches). The playground was awesome, and there was so much to see. The kids loved the animals and the combination of active and quiet areas, indoor and outdoor exhibits. Employees were knowledgeable and answered a long list of questions from the six children in our group, and they were all great with kids. We will definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Caroline H.

Yelp
Pretty neat museum, privately run. A bit pricey to enter but worth it if you plan to spend the day. There is an old plantation house with a lot of Tallahassee history, ziplining, hiking trails, a zoo, and a farmhouse with farm animals. My favorite thing to do is to hike around the lake, it's beautiful with tons of Cyprus trees!
google avatar

Dave H.

Yelp
Not really a museum. A better description would be an animal preserve, and educational center. A very large and well appointed zoo & history park. There are period buildings showing life from the 18th & 19th century, along with a variety of animals throughout the park. Most of the tour is on a raised boardwalk. It makes seeing the animals much easier. There's also a very impressive zip line course (actually, there are 3 of them) that zig-zag through the park, and out over the swamp. You can choose to do one or all three. Too ambitious for me anymore though. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Tam M.

Yelp
Great family day! We spent 5hours on a Monday in late February. Was 75 out and no bugs. We went at 9 am and the animals were all about, they seemed to settle down and sleep after lunch. Property is beautifully maintained. Cafe was a little slow but food was fine for a quick refuel. Whole place is super kid friendly. This was the only place I found that had a zip line for my 7 year old. Staff was SUPER nice and even fun. You can tell they like working there. Lindsay, who showed us an armadillo and a Barred Owl, was knowledgeable and patient. We will definitely go back on our way through again!
google avatar

Kara W.

Yelp
My 1.5 year old and I had a blast here! The animals are in spacious, nature-based housing and the educational signs are very useful. The trails are perfect for little ones to stay contained but also a stroller can get around fairly easily. There is a play area, all sorts of animals, a gift shop, and much more. We didn't even get to see it all! The ziplines look awesome, too!

Yelp
A little under 2 and a half hours away, the Tallahassee museum is one of the newest places in Florida to get a zip line course called Tree to Tree Adventures. Adam and I were recently invited to come check out their zip line course which actually opened back around Memorial Day. We're both huge fans of zip lining. Last year for my birthday, we went to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm to check out their zip line & obstacle course. Sadly, I don't have any pictures because they wouldn't allow us to bring our cameras. 6 months later we went zip lining near Helen, Georgia over the New Years holiday. I've also had the opportunity to go zip lining when I was on an Alaskan Cruise in one of only a few temperate rain forests in the world (which was awesome!). We headed to the Tallahassee Museum on a Sunday to celebrate Adam's birthday weekend. We made good timing having left Jacksonville around 10 a.m. and made it to Tallahassee around 12:15. Adam's mom, who lives fairly close to the Tallahassee Museum, met up with us there too. We entered the first building to get our wrist bands. We signed up for the "whole package" which includes their shorter course, Canopy Crossing, and their longer course, Soaring Cypress. The prices are really, REALLY affordable. Soaring Cypress actually includes the Canopy Crossing course, and was only $40 per person. I would say this is normally around $80 at other zip line places. We also bought a can of bug spray ($7) at their gift shop which ended up being a really good thing. I am extremely attractive and tasty to all mosquitos, so I definitely needed the added mosquito defense. The Tallahassee Museum is more than your ordinary zip line because it also is a very extensive obstacle course which one sees as soon as they walk onto the campus. First thing we did was walk to the "Harness House" to sign our wavers and get our gear. We were each outfitted with a harness and a pair of gloves. Posted proudly right next to the Harness House are their course licenses, which is always comforting to see right off the bat! There is a minimum height requirement to enter their zip line courses. They also have a kids course for those that aren't quite tall (or brave) enough. I was eyeing the kids course, TREEmendous Adventure, because it looked like a lot of fun though I was actually too tall for their height maximum. We only waited about 5 minutes for another group to get checked in, and then got started with a quick instructional session that lasted another 5 minutes. When you zip line, you have two large carabineer clips each on their own rope that is connected to your harness. When on the zip line course, you are harnessed to the red rope at all times with these two carabineers. The red rope is called "your lifeline" for a reason. If you need to disconnect from one red wire to connect to another red wire, you disconnect one carabineer from the old red wire and connect it to the new red wire. Then you disconnect your second carabineer from the old red wire and connect it to the new red wire. That way, you're connected to the red wire at all times. Very important! For the last part of our instructional session, we took this little zip line for a test spin to get our bearings. Earlier I mentioned how you're always connected to the red wire, The Lifeline. This is true for ladders as well. They have a seatbelt apparatus that you clip into for when you go up or down a ladder. The seatbelt will slowly retract as you climb higher, but if you were to slip and fall or jump off, it'll catch you mid-air. I did not feel the need to test this myself... Some obstacles took longer than others. I really like that you can show up and start the course whenever you wanted. The Tallahassee museum doesn't require reservations. We always seem to be running late (OK, I'm always late It's a self guided tour. This means you're welcome to proceed through the course as fast as you're comfortable doing. I am pleased to say I survived the Tree to Tree Adventures at the Tallahassee Museum. It was a great zip line experience. I honestly had a better time than I expected to (especially since the LAST obstacle/zip line course I did was pretty frustrating). If you're heading to Tallahassee, I highly recommend checking out the Tallahassee Museum if you have extra time OR head there just for the day if it's within a day trip for you!

Yelp
Tallahassee Museum is more of a Zoo & History Buildings tour. It is a long outdoor walk which includes a trail and two lakes. Throw in 1 parts swamp tour and 1 parts forest, with a dash of farm life and this is what you get. Overall it is a great experience and perfect on a nice sunny day. For less than $10 this is what you can see!: The museum is split into a few sections with various things thrown into them. There is the "Old Florida" section that includes a plantation home, old style school and church, a slave home, and a little graveyard. "Wildlife Florida" contains all of the animals such as birds, alligators, panthers, or bears. Then there is "Big Bend Farm" that has a few buildings that replicate farm life. Sometimes the staff will walk around acting like they are from old times and do little showcases. I like the sheep and horses too. One thing I did not do on my visit was the Zip-Line, and it seems to be one of the highlights of it here. Throughout the whole park you can see the course running around above you. Prices for that are not bad either. This is a great little gem in Tallahassee for sure!
