From the moment we walked in the door to the morning we left we were made to feel completely at home and welcomed like old friends. Everything was so beautifully presented and we slept so well. Receiving tickets to the local Onsen was a lovely surprise. If you decide to only do the breakfast plan we highly recommend making reservations for dinner in local restaurants asap after you arrive as they fill up very quickly. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was attention to detail in presentation and completely delicious 😋. Highly recommended and would definitely love to stay again in a different season to see everything in a different light.

We spent a lovely night here. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. It's a lovely little hotel, an easy walk to the train station. You can access a local onsen (5 mins walk away) for free with a coupon from the hotel. The breakfast was lovely, and served by a delightful lady. It's a beautiful little town, so quiet and peaceful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Really great and friendly service from the day time staff and breakfast staff. Rooms were spacious with all the amenities. Free use of the near by onsen was also highly appreciated! Although Kakunodate itself isn't really a destination for a longer stay, time spent here was relaxing and comfortable.

Loved being in the beautiful historic Bukeyashiku area with lots of samurai houses and gorgeous streets.I was overwhelmed by the kindness and assistance I received from the hotel staff especially as I was sick during my stay. They met me at the station on the first night as they knew there would be no taxis, took me to buy food, brought me sustenance and fresh fruits !! Fantastic Japanese breakfasts too and I loved the dark wooden beams and Japanese screens . Very comfortable & spacious rooms- a must stay in Kakanodate.

We had great service at this hotel. ||The room was adequate, we found the beds to be quite narrow, however they were comfortable.||The room had a good bathroom, with plenty of high-pressure, hot water.||Our stay included breakfast and dinner for two nights. The food was okay.

I visited Kakunodate in December 2013 with my friend. It seemed like we were the only guests in the hotel at that time because it was Monday night. However, the nice service and never-better dinner was very impressive. There were Samisen show for 15 minutes during our dinner time. We were also offered free Onsen-n-sento tickets. It was a rainy-chilled night but filled with very-warm-at-heart service of all. I do love this hotel.

Mominoki restaurant serves excellent meals with very kind and considerate staff. The night receptionist (male) was very kind, while the morning receptionist (female) was not at all. After checking out, I wanted to use my computer for an urgent work but she told me to leave the hotel since the hotel's cafe restaurant is 'only for those who have already reserved for a lunch' and there is no space for me to work since there are too many customers, although we have not seen any other customers in the hotel during out stay and the hotel was almost empty. I therefore went to a train station by a taxi to do my half an hour work with my PC, which I found it quite inconvenient. Kicking out the checked out customers in such a manner is a regretful practice that this hotel needs to reflect for improvement. The hotel itself is very clean and pleasant while this really tarnished our image to this hotel. The female receptionist rather had strong characters ready for arguments to make customers shut up. Apart from this aspect, hotel services were excellent.
