"Multi-tiered Roofs of Bali The temples in Bali , Indonesia are famous for their multi-tiered thatch roofs. This was taken at Pura Taman Ayun in the village of Mengwi. Visitors are not allowed to enter the temples - we could only view from outside the walls. Thankfully the walls aren't very tall :)"

The Sanctity of a sacred place can be preserved in so many ways - is what this temple showcases. The serenity, beauty and the space it owns as a mini forest gives you enough room to walk around… sit in silence…. Hear the sounds of forest music- “Silence” with the flutes of birds singing every now and then… 😊 The raw stone temples…. Surrounded by Lotus pond and the walkjng area around it with the forest around makes one nostalgic about the era itself…. Must watch ….. and people who love taking pictures…. SHOULD’nt Miss at any cost…

Clean and well maintained temple with a huge lotus 🪷 pond. The temple compound looks great. The parking is nearby. They explain the history and significance of the temple using a short movie. I would recommend carrying an umbrella and water. The temple compound is open and it gets hot.

A wonderful visit to this UNESCO world heritage site during the morning hours. The whole premises were calm and peaceful and devoid of unruly tourists. A nice circumambulating pathway allows a view to the primary temple complex and the activities therein. A Sarong is a must for ladies and a full trouser for men. Tickets are easily available at the entrance.

Absolutely stunning! Taman Ayun Temple took our breath away with its serene atmosphere, lush gardens, and elegant architecture. The moats and water features surrounding the temple create a peaceful oasis that feels timeless. We loved walking along the stone paths and admiring the multi-tiered shrines rising toward the sky—each one beautifully maintained and full of meaning. Compared to other more crowded temples in Bali, this felt like a calm retreat. You can truly feel the spiritual energy here without distractions. It’s clean, peaceful, and deeply connected to Balinese history and the island’s unique subak irrigation system. A must-see for anyone wanting to experience the real soul of Bali. Don’t rush—walk slow, breathe deep, and take it all in

One of my favorite temples in Bali. After visiting many of the island’s more popular (and often crowded) temples, Taman Ayun was a breath of fresh air. The grounds are expansive, with a scenic path around the perimeter that lets you take in the full complex—including the temple amphitheatre. Tickets were only 30,000 IDR per person—great value. Highly recommend!

We visited Taman Ayun Temple today and it was a great experience. The Temple is a UNESCO heritage site and was the traditional temple of the kings and built by kings to demonstrate their power. We visited in the evening so the temple was quiet and easy to enter. This is a Hindu temple so you will have to wear a long dress or you can also rent a sarong at the entry. The ticket costs IDR30k and you can buy it at the gate. Highly recommended visit if you're in Bali.

The tickets are priced at IDR 30,000 per person is the cost of the tickets. Tamun Ayun isn’t just beautiful—it’s a piece of Bali’s soul. The temple’s multi-tiered shrines, surrounded by tranquil moats and lush gardens, reflect centuries of Balinese harmony between architecture, nature, and spirituality. As part of the UNESCO-listed “Cultural Landscape of Bali,” it stands for the Subak system—an ancient water management tradition that blends religion, community, and ecology. Visiting felt like stepping into living history, not just sightseeing.

Taman Ayun Temple is a stunning historical and cultural landmark that offers visitors a glimpse into the island's rich spiritual heritage. Known as the "Beautiful Garden," this 17th-century temple complex is surrounded by a tranquil moat, creating a peaceful and picturesque setting.
