Tamar Cove Motel

Great motel with cheap rates and generous rooms, the caretaker lives on site and is kind and helpful. The restaurant section has been closed down awaiting a new chef but this may take some time, the rooms have a kitchenette shower sink toilet amenities double bed tv cupboards etc with other bigger rooms. there is a pool that needs cleaning. The view of the river is amazing and is only 10kms from beaconsfeild with pizza delivery from a local pizzeria and a bus that stop and drops of right out front.

Meal was very appetising and nutritious. Outside congenial seating for our small Scalpels bike group. Location/setting very nice. Were made very welcome and received refreshments and meals quite promptly.

We had dinner at the restaurant here which was recommended to us by the folks at Beauty Point Cottages, where we were staying. We absolutely loved the food and service. Got to try the "Wizard Smith Pale Ale" here, a great beer only available in Tasmania, recommended to me by a friend who is a brewer at James Boag. Loved every dish, this was a superb experience.

We’ve been coming to Tamar Cove for years and it never fails to disappoint. Fantastic food every single time, amazing wine list and drink selection, lovely vibes and the staff are super nice and attentive. I am astounded that Michael Woods left such a terrible review. We are locals and eat at this establishment on a very regular basis.. Why? the food is consistently excellent! We are international travellers and eat all over the world and this little restaurant comes up trumps every time. Had Michael Woods taken the time to contact Stefan and Donna the owners they would have rectified the situation but I actually doubt MW's review!.. We have never ever had a bad meal yet!... A cosy little restaurant with a lovely outlook over Beauty Point Tamar River... a gorgeous upstairs with balcony.... beautifully presented food with a good wine selection and all locally grown produce. High recommended!

First time to Australia. We loved Tamar Cove and will be back. What a fantastic place. Laid back. Nice people. Great service. 5 Star restaurant. See you again next in December.

It's disheartening when an outlet talks up its credentials supporting local foods only to find the wine you want from the vineyard 10kms down the road has run out, so has your choice of beer and there are no local rieslings available by the glass. Poor management of the drinks situation .The food was nothing special, certainly nothing that screams "quality Tasmanian ingredients" . Pub food standards (and ordinary pub food at that) at restaurant prices. The chicken with scallops had prawns as there were no scallops. The mash was coarse and tasteless, the salad drenched in dressing, the sauce was flat. The pork belly was passable, the kids meals at $13 were really uninteresting .Three deep fried dim Sims and chips . I had hoped to finish our trip to Tasmania with a decent feed and this fell short.

Had a meal here today which was a taste of Tassie ( smoked salmon, scallops and a chicken schnitzel and a red pizza sauce) not impressed as it looked like a parmi and was not even asked if anything was wrong when they collected my plate as I couldn't eat it.

Our family motel room was clean and comfortable, but nothing special. Typical motel accommodations. We enjoyed the pool a lot. The meal we had was really lovely. We had the seafood platter and it was ridiculous! Piled HIGH with deliciousness, and tons of fries. The steak was also good, with a really tasty gravy. Desserts were also excellent, the caramel ice cream was a highlight.
