This hotel was perfect for what we needed. 9 guys on a ski trip. It's not the 4 Seasons so don't expect luxury, but the rooms were very clean, great beds (our whole group commented on the mattresses). It's a great location right in the center of town. Walking distance to just about everything and only a 4 minute bus ride to Bald Mountain. The pool and hot tub were working and clean. Friendly staff as well. It was made clean upon booking that the rooms would only be cleaned every third day, but they delivered towels and anything else I needed quickly. Great hotel for the price! Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I just spent 2 weeks at The Tamarack Lodge and had a great time! First, the location can’t be beat as we could walk to all of our favorite restaurants and the buses to the slopes are close by. Second, our room was cozy and comfortable, and we enjoyed our fireplace every night. Third, there is a hot tub and heated pool! Fourth, if you have a dog, they can stay there too, as they are dog friendly. Fifth, and really important, is that the staff are friendly, helpful and kind. They are just the best. This is the sixth time we have stayed at the Tamarack Lodge and we are already looking forward to our next visit!

We stayed at the Tamarack Lodge recently for a wedding. Many family members were also staying and the courtyard was a great way to relax and connect. It's a very reasonable cost and convenient location.

We stayed here recently and don't recommend. Paper thin walls, noisy, very over-priced. So many choices in the area, we'll make a different choice in the future. Oh yes, the rates are misleading. They charge a $15 resort fee on top. Not sure what the fee is for? The swimming pool and hot tub were closed. That must be their resort amenity.

We did a ski trip with Guy friends. 2 guys shared the family suite. Perfect size for a couple guys. |Great location! Close to all the nightlife, bars, restaurants and shopping. 15 min bus to mtn.|Hot tub is too small but works and is outside. Had a great time!

I stayed at Tamarack Lodge for 3 nights. The service provided was exceptional! Lynn and the staff were friendly and answered all of my questions and requests. They gave wonderful recommendations of activities and dining options. Couldn't asked for better service. The room was very spacious, well equiped clean and nicely maintained. I will definitely stay again.

The room was cozy but didn't love that it was a real fireplace and we had to keep getting wood from the front desk. The TV in the room was far away and off center which was weird. The chairs were the worst we have ever tried to sit in. The bed was very comfortable and the service was great. The bathroom was super small. The worst part was the location, it was extremely loud with it being on the street and being woken up around 6am by garbage trucks and people driving.

We drove through Ketchum on our way back from Boise, heading back home to Montana. The town is cute, reminds me of a little Whitefish; back home. We got the fireplace king. There was a problem booking online; we had confirmation on our end, the desk did not. But front desk was very helpful in resolving that issue and was very accommodating. The room looked and smelled immaculate. Everything was cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I personally didn't want to leave and had we not been on a tight schedule to get home; I would have pushed for another night's stay. The location is right in the heart of town and everything is in walking distance. Now I have an excuse to get back to Ketchum again!

Yelp
We have been here for 1 night with 1 to go. Here is our review. Amenities: Ice machine, washer/dryer, and an indoor pool. Nice to have these at your fingertips while staying in Ketchum. The room was clean, linens spotless and the carpet had a few small stains but it is expected from an older property. The room has fresh paint, pretty granite countertop sink but the room is older and if you look closely you'll see that in the details. Regardless of this the property is well maintained and no doubt the ownership is doing a nice job of making maintenance. Shower head is nice and clean towels. Like the liquid hand and shower soaps, they all smell excellent. Parking was no issue, which is a + from a property in downtown. One drawback, the 3 story property allows for you to hear anyone walking above you. We were on the second floor and could hear the little ones running on the 3rd floor. Location? We walked to restaurants, coffee, shopping, and a car show all in downtown. Tamaracks location is so good, we liked that a lot.

Yelp
Great room and easy check in! Wonderful area! We enjoyed the comfortable room and easy access to everything!

Jeffery P.

Yelp
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and great location. Pet friendly and good room amenities. Fridge, microwave and coffee maker.

Cory R.

Yelp
Gorgeous little lodge. Very well decorated. Comfy clean beds, fluffy pillows, and brand new amenities (coffee maker, mini fridge, etc.). 50" TV with premium cable. Patios and access to the central courtyard, which would make it super easy to walk your dogs, so its pet friendly. Courteous staff. Across the street from a charming shopping center. Not much more you could ask from a cozy lodge in an up-and-coming, newly constructed area of central Idaho.

Juan S.

Yelp
Overall a great place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and the view is nice with all the snow. The floors are incredibly creaky so every single footstep is incredibly loud. The front desk worker was informative but a bit standoffish both on the phone before arrival and when I checked in. It's really close to the local market just a few blocks away. I would definitely come back

GL B.

Yelp
Building is very old and drafty with new carpet and paint. We had bugs in the room (took some down to front desk). Charge $25 a day pet fee for "extra cleaning" but the room was not cleaned during our visit. Location is convenient for walking to restaurants.

Cindy G.

Yelp
Our time here was deliciously comfortable and restful. The front staff could not have been more friendly, helpful, and accommodating! With a smile every time, they answered our questions and helped when we needed it. The bed in our lovely room was supremely comfy, clean, and luxurious. We had a fireplace room and enjoyed our fires every evening and on our last (snowy) morning. The bathroom and room were both spotless without signs of wear. The pool was warm (perfect for this chilly time of year). The hot tub clean and comfortable (very large!). Personal preferences.... The two things that could have been just a tad different...the coffee in the room is rather weak (maybe pick a new supplier?) And the hot tub temp was a tad low for this time of year (freezing outside....a temp of 102-104 would have been nicer). BUT...to each their own! I just trotted across the road to the coffee shop for my coffee and took a long, hot shower to warm up!

Melissa T.

Yelp
We drove from Boise to Sun Valley with an overnight. Hotel staff was very efficient and texted us that our room is ready before regular check in time. Plenty of parking along the side street and back of property. The room was fitted with basic amenities and clean. Location was right in the middle of town and very convenient. We walked to dinner and then again for breakfast.

Yelp
First visit here, we are very pleased with our choice. Clearly the place has been updated from the many poor reviews from over a year ago. Very well located and close to everything. Room is very large. Has real wood burning fireplace with duraflame ready to roll. Comfy bed, nice tv, nice couch, and table w chairs. Yes a huge soaker tub and a better view(our room) would be ideal, but it was a great price so no one should complain. Can not hear our neighbors. Lastly, the young lady at front desk was amazingly sweet and helpful as Expedia screwed up date on reservation made day before, but she kindly fixed it and made my wife feel at ease and proceeded to provide great info about our room, hotel, and local attractions. So while I find this an obvious 5 star, based on value and overall experience, I would advise to add a full star to overall historical rating based on obvious updating, plus proximity to everything downtown in Ketchum.

Tyler F.

Yelp
Absolutions adore and love this place Realize it is an old building so expect to hear and see your neighbors, a lot, but the staff super friendly, location great, and the upgrades and fireplace spot on to create an authentic lodge vibe in the heart of Ketchum Can't beat the location and vibe. I'll be back. A lot.

Pamela K.

Yelp
We were charged a $25 deposit for "incidentals. Upon check-out, we invited the manager to check our room. The manager at the front desk refused to check our room. She said we would be refunded the $25 deposit immediately. We later received a text telling us we were being charged $25 for damages. The text included bogus photos claiming these pictures showed damages we incurred. (A dirty hand towel that I did use to clean up some spilled coffee, but also two other photos of a soiled hand towel and a dirty sheet that were not of our doing!) We were not refunded the $25 for incidentals nor the $25+ for damages. Such an unethical way to make a bit of extra cash! Scandalous!

Yelp
Great Stay! We have two dogs and love Ketchum. Remodeled rooms are airy, well appointed, quiet and have nice light - not fancy pants but cool retro, functional and way comfy. Location is smack in the middle of Ketchum Downtown magic.

Zack F.

Yelp
4.5/5 If you're looking to stay at this hotel I wouldn't pay attention to the previous reviews as they have made some nice changes. The rooms have all been recently renovated and my room looked quite nice. Also, the bed was brand new as well. The staff in the front office were very friendly and allowed me to check in earlier than the 4 pm check in time. I really enjoyed my stay. The only reason I'm not giving this place a 5 star rating is because of the hot tub. The pool is inside and is quite nice and clean, and the hot tub is outside. The temperature of the hot tub was only 96 degrees... Dude, it was 0 degrees outside! I was literally sitting in the hot tub and had goosebumps! The hot tub was set to be at 104 degrees so the temperature control may be broken. Reading the previous reviews it's obvious they've put a lot of work into the place and they should be proud. Just get that luke warm hot tub fixed and it will be a fantastic stay ;)

Ellen W.

Yelp
Nice place, beautiful grounds but absolutely appalling customer service. The front desk was extremely disrespectful and would not do anything to accommodate us even though we already paid for our room, and we were told multiple different things about the time we could check in. She insulted us and after attitude, she finally put us in another room. Never again.

NY T.

Yelp
Miserable night. Paper thin walls. Saggy old mattresses. Uninterested front desk staff. Crappy room, old and tired everything. Premium price for nothing.

Diane N.

Yelp
My daughter's wedding was last Saturday. About 15 of the guests stayed at Tamarack. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. A few of the guests were able to spend some time riding the bikes offered to guests. There are wonderful bike paths surrounding the Ketchum area. The location couldn't be better, as all the restaurants, bars, and shopping are within a few blocks. It is a comfortable stay, and an excellent value!

Chad B.

Yelp
Rooms are okay and the is staff is not helpful. The ONLY good thing about this place is it's location. Wouldn't recommend staying here!

Beth M.

Yelp
I stayed at the Tamarack Lodge 8/26, my next stop after staying in McCall at a great resort. This should not be called a Lodge or a Resort, it appears to be an old apartment complex turned cheap motel room. The carpet is nasty, the furniture is old and out dated and the bed was not comfortable at all. As you can see from my photos the room had holes in the wall where it appeared something used to hang? There is still a 1980's popcorn ceiling and a funky smell in the room. I asked to be moved but the second room had the same funky smell and no AC in the room. Would not stay here again unless they do some serious updates for my $172 price tag.

Crystal Q.

Yelp
We have had a wonderful stay here. It's an older property DO NOT EXPECT A BRAN NEW FACILITY, but it's very well taken care of and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We stayed in a room with a small fireplace and used it each morning. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. The location is perfect for walking around. If you want an affordable clean place to stay and aren't expecting the resort (expensive) you will be happy.

David J.

Yelp
I am here at this moment. I am listening to every word of my next door neighbors. The walls are like paper. I hope they go to bed early. Our tv remote has gone missing and the "helpful " staff does not have a spare. Thank God I am only here tonight.

Kristoffer M.

Yelp
What an amazing place and a wonderful staff. The negative reviews make zero sense as I've had an amazing convo with the staff and they're just the nicest people you could ask to speak with.

Mary D.

Yelp
The website conveniently omits the outdated mess this place is. Online they claim it's refurbished and updated. However, it's 2016 and they still have popcorn ceilings, gross carpet, and retro curtains. The room smelled very musty when we arrived. The website shows nice wood ceilings. I've never felt more misled by an establishment. On top of it all, no one was staying here and we had the farthest room from the parking lot, it's -5 degrees and you have to walk up to the rooms! Terrible customer service and planning.

Jacob H.

Yelp
Loved the location, within walking distance to everything. Parking is convenient. Rooms were updated and nice- not like the photos from a year ago, definitely like the newer photo of King Room. Noticed we heard foot traffic from stairs and the room above us, but was not enough to be a problem. Beds were comfortable. Would stay again.

Hank M.

Yelp
Old hotel, when they say check in at 4:00 PM they are not joking. Rude staff and no breakfast, parking lot is small. The hotel is close to the ski resort. It is in a good location for walking around the town.

Bailey D.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for the weekend and I was sadly disappointed. I booked a room I seen online and when we checked in it wasn't the room I booked. They told me I had to "ask" for a certain room if I wanted it. Never having stayed there before I didn't know and no one told me. The room was pretty dirty, the toilet is so close to the wall you touch the wall with your leg when you sit, the bed sheets had a huge stain on them, and the couch was SOO uncomfortable to sit on to relax and watch tv. It's VERY outdated along with everything in the room. I was disappointed they didn't serve breakfast. The pictures online make it look 10x nicer than it is. I would say spend $50 more and get a better place. I have stayed in smaller chain hotels I was more impressed with. Pros- The pool and hot tub were nice to have and the fireplace in our room was nice. It was nice and close to everything so my husband and I just walked everywhere around town that we wanted to go. I will never say here again. Very disappointed.

Ed D.

Yelp
Rooms are dated. The bathrobes that were supplied were really dirty. The room was somewhat dirty. The bed is horrible. Cannot get the temperature right in the room. The worst part is the noise!!! There is a back alley behind the hotel and the garbage trucks go back there about 4 to 5 in the morning and because the alley way is small and each business has their own dumpster, they are back there for about 45 minutes, and then the shipping store is there and then those trucks come through. Spend the extra $35 and getting a better place with a better experience.

Alec S.

Yelp
This place is fine. It's not going to knock your socks off but the location is awesome and the rate is low. Rooms are large but a bit antiquated. But I didn't come to Sun valley to hang in my room all day. It does the job and the staff is excellent

Rich B.

Yelp
Kind of funky in that ski area way. Rooms are clean but maybe a tad tired. Nothing deal breaking but a tad old feeling in terms of decor and design.

J N.

Yelp
This is an awful motel class lodge and I would highly recommend you explore putting up a tent outdoors before settling for this location. Management is extremely uninterested in customer service and will overcharge you without the slightest hint of shame. I wouldn't touch the place until you see a "under new ownership" sign posted.

Alyson B.

Yelp
This place sucks. Do not stay here. Sketchy basement entrance, musty old carpet, ac/heating unit with no plain air setting so you decide between Siberia and the burning pits of hell to block out the herd of thundering elephants above your head. No vending machines for water. No laundry. Lots of attitude from front desk. Spare yourself.

Melissa C.

Yelp
My husband and 1 year old stayed on the first floor of this hotel. The room had a weird smell, the carpet was old and stained, the sheets smelt like they were soaked in Febreze and the towels were dinghy white and in desperate need of replacement. There was a nice courtyard outside of our room, but unfortunately there was a puppy staying next door that was using it as a toilet.

Tara H.

Yelp
The room was nice enough, great central location within walking distance to skiing, restaurants and shops, but oh my god- the noise! Every faucet, every footstep, every television, every child, every door, every whispered conversation- you could hear it all, all night long.... If you use lodging mainly for sleep, this is not the place for you.

Zack Z.

Yelp
The Tamarack Lodge will make you mad and will ruin what you thought would be a fun, pleasant visit to Sun Valley. Sun Valley is nice, but not the employees that work here. They treat their guests and everyone else like they are garbage. They look down upon people. And besides their extremely rude customer service, the rooms are in bad condition and is extremely over priced due to the really bad customer service and terrible rooms. You would be happier to stay at a Motel 6 than this place. The Tamarack Lodge is a sick joke and should be demolished.

Casey W.

Yelp
A little scared to stay there but, was pleasantly surprised. Clean room, balcony, comfortable bed, big flat screen tv, no continental breakfast but, there is a small coffee pot, microwave and fridge. Room 304 had vaulted ceilings and mountain views. Walking distance to everything in town.

Nika C.

Yelp
Staff friendly. Cheap room, but sufficient for a short stay. Isn't much for looks. Hasn't been updated for a couple of decades. Comfortable bed. Clean! 3 min drive from lifts. Also bus available. Stayed in down stairs room, could hear upstairs people walking around. Fortunately they weren't obnoxious. "Fireplace" was disappointing. Overall, had a good stay. Also dog friendly. 25$ pet fee.

jim c.

Yelp
What a great Hotel. We were so impressed when we walked through the door and saw a very clean nice room right in the heart of town. The tamarack Lodge has the best location in town and at the best prices. We used the FREE bikes this summer and it was a huge hit with the family. I will definitely be back to stay at the Tamarack Lodge.
