This has been our fifth stay at an Elegant Hotels Group hotel in Barbados, and so we had a good idea of what to expect. We have not been disappointed.||||Our interconnecting rooms are spacious, with fantastic views of the sea. We are above the reception, but you wouldn't know it - there isn't much noise. The free water sports have been brilliant. We did the rings (or tubes as they are called in America), the kayaks and paddle boarding, while we took the sea taxi to a couple of the other hotels.||||My wife overdid it on the rum and cokes one night. The very helpful pharmacy is only a short walk away in Holetown, as is a supermarket and two banks.||||The rooms look tired, but as Marriott has well documented, the chain is about to undergo an upgrade, so we weren't surprised by the condition of certain parts of the hotel.||||Most of the staff have been great. Although it's an all-inclusive hotel, don't forget to tip the staff now and again. It looks really pikey if you don't.||||My only concern is for the future wellbeing of the staff. A number of guests have asked the staff what is going to happen to them in the intervening period between the closure and reopening of the hotel, and they don't know. I really hope that Marriott looks after the staff. If they don't, it could be a PR disaster for them. It is something which we and a number of regular Elegant Hotels guests will be keeping a close eye on.
