Tamarind Hill

Beautiful rustic hotel once the house of a British captain. The bed is emperor size with mosquito netting. The bathroom is larger than modern day living rooms. Everything within is retained from the old days which makes it charming. The only thing missing is a gym for exercise and the restaurant serves the bare minimum fare. Great hotel for those who want a taste of history.

Beautiful property with exceptional service. Food portions were perfect and some dishes were simply outstanding. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday, this is the place. You'll find that some things might be in need of a refresh, but to be expected with a more historic building. I was a little wary because I had a poor experience at another Asia Leisure hotel, but Chathura and Don really changed my perception of smaller local hotel chains. They may want to consider creating a barrier to obscure the view from the far end of the pool because it's not particularly pleasant to look directly onto someone messy backyard.

This was our first time at Tamarind Hill and definitely won’t be our last. What a gorgeous hotel! Has a very old world charm and the decor of the hotel was simply delightful. But what was just out of this world was the service! Everyone from the manager to the chef to all the hotel staff we encountered, it was Sri Lankan hospitality at its finest. ||And the food, oh my goodness we had the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfast and I could just sit there all day eating that! Every dish that we ate was truly a piece of heaven and the service that went along with it made this experience so memorable. The breakfast was soo good that we skipped lunch and dinner and savored every morsel of the breakfast! ||Hotels can be great, the food can be delicious but what makes the place that much more appealing is the service and Tamarind Hill has all of that plus a fabulous staff who will make sure your every need is met and the experience is one to remember!

Blown away by how beautiful this property and staff are. The restoration of this historic building is being completed in such a mindful way, we’re excited to visited again to see how it will look. The rooms transport you back in time, it’s so wonderful We have received exceptionally service from the moment we entered the driveway. You must visit. Lots of love all the way from Australia.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tamarind Hill in Galle, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. This beautifully preserved colonial boutique hotel, with a history spanning over 250 years, offers a serene escape from the distractions of modern life. Nestled in a tranquil setting, it embodies the peace and charm that Sri Lanka is known for. The hospitality at Tamarind Hill is truly outstanding. Special mention goes to the hotel manager, Mr. Chathura, whose dedication and attention to detail ensure every guest feels well cared for. His commitment to going above and beyond to provide comfort is commendable. Tamarind Hill is a hidden gem, perfect for those seeking peace, relaxation, and a touch of history. However, if you’re looking for a party atmosphere, this may not be the place for you. It’s an oasis of calm that’s best suited for those who appreciate quiet luxury.

I liked this hotel, it had an old world charm to it. One of the rooms was a bit spooky however that was not an issue. The bathrooms are humongous and beautiful at the same time. A very colonial hotel with British architecture which was stunning. Food was mediocre but services were excellent. There were many photoshoots happening. It was not bang in the centre of the city nor was it too isolated. It was pretty cool.

We loved how patient and friendly and accommodating the staff were at this lodge. They were 10/10 for help and kindness. Thankyou for making our stay so lovely.
