Went for dinner with the plan to enjoy live music. We called earlier to ask when it would start so we could plan accordingly with a toddler and an infant. It started about 30 mins later than said time. When the live music did start, it was pleasant and refreshing (see attached videos). In terms of food. It was good, and when they said its mild - it actually was mild. I am truly glad that was the case. The panner seasoning in paneer tikka tacos was delicious. Rumali roti turned out to be chewy once cold (which happens at most restaurants). There naans were soft and proper. The best was the rasmalai sundae! I will go back just for that.

We dined at Tamarind once for dinner and had a mixed experience. We started with the chicken bruschetta — it was definitely unique and tasted good, but the portion size felt too small for the price (just four pieces), so it didn’t quite feel worth it. For the main course, we ordered two curries along with rice and roti, but unfortunately, the flavors were underwhelming. The main dishes were quite below average, especially considering the pricing and the overall vibe of the restaurant. The highlight of our first visit, though, was the dessert — the rasmalai sundae. It was absolutely delicious and stood out as the best part of the meal. In fact, we were so impressed that we returned months later just for the dessert. Sadly, it wasn’t the same the second time. Whether they changed the recipe or the preparation, it just didn’t have the same magic. They play live music which is great but it’s very loud. Maybe it would be a lot nicer with little less volume. The band is great though. Overall, Tamarind had potential, especially with its dessert, but the inconsistency and underwhelming main course make it hard to recommend confidently.

We went for dinner as recommended by a friend. The restaurant is nice with the bar separating two sections. We ordered for the Veg Tandoori Momos, Chicken Afghani, chicken lababdar, Paneer Tawa Masala, Naan/ rice. The gravies were creamy and flavourful. Overall the food was good, the tandoori momos were a good recommendation.

Tamarind offers a truly delightful culinary experience, and we were thoroughly impressed by the quality and flavor of the food. We started with the Amritsari Fish Tikka, which was perfectly spiced and melt-in-the-mouth tender. The Lamb Galouti Kebab was another standout—rich, flavorful, and beautifully cooked. The Chilli Chicken packed the right amount of heat and was a hit at our table. The Gol Gappa Shots added a fun and tangy twist, and the Sweet Potato Chaat was a great blend of sweet, spicy, and crunchy textures. The Chicken Tikka was classic and did not disappoint either. However, our experience took a dip when it came to dessert. After an otherwise flawless meal, we waited nearly 25 minutes for the sweets to arrive. Unfortunately, they were not worth the wait—lacking in both taste and presentation. It was a disappointing end to what had been an exceptional dining experience. Overall, Tamarind is a fantastic place for savory Indian cuisine, and I’d highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy rich, flavorful dishes. Just skip the dessert and end your meal on a high note with their excellent starters and mains.

Pros: Food!! Came here after a friend recommended the spot to us as we love Indian food. The food did not disappoint! I forget the name of the dish but their recommended goat dish was to die for. We’d definitely go back to get it. It was our first time trying pani puri, we were amazed with its presentation. Definitely recommend if you love dramatic presentation. Cons: Service, atmosphere The service was okay. Had to wait a bit to find someone to help our table a couple of times, but when they served us they were very helpful. It was extremely LOUD. If you don’t thrive in loud environments like I do, I would suggest maybe trying earlier in the day. We had a band playing for dinner & being already hard of hearing, it was impossible to hear my partner speaking or the servers unless you spoke directly into their ear.

We visited here on for a Sunday lunch and it had a cozy atmosphere. They have an amazing variety of Indian dishes (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian); whether you’re a beef/lamb-lover, chicken-lover or seafood-lover, you’ll find great options on their menu. They also have a full bar, offering beer, wine and creative cocktails. We ordered some of their specialties: “MALAI METHI MURGH”, “OLD DELHI BUTTER CHICKEN”, “PUNJABI MUTTON”, “LAMB ROGANJOSH”, “TAMARIND CHICKEN PLATTER” and paired them with “PANEER KULCHA” and “KEEMA NAAN”. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We enjoyed every bite. If you’re not used to spicy food, choose “mild” for heat level as it still has a bit of a kick to it. The staff are friendly and helpful. There’s a parking lot beside the restaurant with first 2 hours of parking being free of charge.

I visited this restaurant on a weekday evening, and it wasn't crowded at all, which was nice. The music was great, and the ambiance was pleasant, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The service was good, and the food tasted great overall. However, the Roomali Roti we ordered didn't quite meet expectations in terms of quality and value. It felt overpriced for what it was, and I believe you can get better value for money at other restaurants.

I never leave Google reviews, but this experience was so underwhelming that I couldn’t stay quiet. I visited Tamarind Bistro on May 2nd around 3pm. I had high hopes because I used to love the restaurant that was here before The Host which served absolutely delicious food. Unfortunately, Tamarind Bistro doesn’t even come close. They claim to be “fine dining,” but honestly, that’s a joke. If this is fine dining, then instant noodles must be gourmet cuisine. The service was one of the worst parts. The waitress (a woman working at that time) didn’t smile, barely spoke, and acted like she didn’t want to be there. I felt like I was being served by a robot. When I asked how big the portion was, she shrugged and said, “How hungry are you?”, not even a basic estimate like “enough for two.” I had to wave her down every time we needed water, the bill, or boxes, while she stood at the front doing nothing. The only time she seemed remotely happy was when I tipped her, like that’s all she cared about. The food was just as disappointing. I ordered a lamb curry that barely tasted like meat it had a weird texture and no real flavor. All the curries looked exactly the same: oily, reddish-orange, and practically indistinguishable. Everything was overly greasy and lacked any depth. Even the naan was soggy and heavy instead of warm and fresh. The restaurant itself felt outdated and worn down. They try to market it as modern or upscale, but the place hasn’t seen a refresh in years. Tables were peeling, the leather on the chairs was cracking and flaking and honestly, calling it modern is like calling a flip phone futuristic. To make it worse, the manager or owner was talking loudly on speakerphone right in the dining area while we were trying to eat. Completely unprofessional. I spent over $100 here and left feeling completely ripped off. In this economy, I would’ve been better off investing that money at least then I’d have something to show for it. With so many glowing reviews, I thought I was in for something special. Instead, I left feeling like I wasted my time, money, and appetite. Please save yourself the disappointment. There are far better and more authentic Indian restaurants out there, especially local family-run ones that actually care about food and service. At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if this place goes out of business soon and honestly, that might be for the best. Maybe then we’ll get a place that actually delivers quality

Yelp
Nice ambience, small place which was very tight and compact they had a live singer, which was amazing on Friday night and their food is very good which is why they're so busy. The grill platter was really really good and good value. Pani puri shots were delicious however, apparently the soy dish in the appetizers is phenomenal which I will try next time and was recommended by a friend, the butter chicken is also really good. I haven't tried it, but a friend has mentioned that it is very good. Service was good. They brought what we needed once we got their attention but to get the waiter's attention was difficult because we were in the corner at the back and they were extremely busy.

Yelp
Incredible food, atmosphere and service! My friend and I ordered an assortment of dishes and enjoyed eating family style. My chicken tikka masala was perfect with just the right amount of spice. I got the Cyrus Irani mocktail and OH MY GOSH.. it was so refreshing and delicious. I highly recommend trying it. You can tell this place has a lot of regulars. There were a lot of families enjoying their meals together. I'll be back if I'm in the area again!

Yelp
We were on a North Indian food tour while in Toronto for 2 full days this week. It was a lot of fun trying the excellent choices and options in the area. Tamarind was a lunch stop on Day 2. They have an interesting variety and fusion-ish concept. We tried a lot of appetizers, including paneer bao, paneer taco, kulcha chana, chili paneer, and manchurian. I think the paneer bao and taco were ok. The chili paneer and manchurian were good. I can't say the same for the kulcha. Oh, not to forget the gol gappa shots. Awesome presentation on those with the gole gappa on top of a shot glass that come in a big tray with some dry ice smoke action. Then for the mains we had paneer and dal makhani, which were our standard test at each restaurant on the tour. The dal at Tamarind was really good. I would say that it was very rich and creamy, which made it a bit less the winning dal entry. The paneer makhani was good as well. Garlic naan and all were fine. I think we went at a time where the place was dserted (pun intended), so the service ended up being spotty. Oh, we did have this kind of mouse dessert at the end, which was OK,

Yelp
It had been a while since we went to a good Indian restaurant so we decided to head over to this place. They're known for their live music, and presentation and quality of food and I'll say they mostly didn't disappoint in those two areas. However, the service was definitely not the best - we didn't get water until halfway across our main course even after asking for it. There was one guy who heard all our requests, nodded, and completely forgot about that request which was typically odd. Anyway, coming to food we tried most of their appetizers from fish tikka, chicken momos, chicken chettinad tacos and the showstopper of the evening, their gol gappe with classic water. This was amazing! I also liked the fish tikka but the other appetizers were not worth it. We tried their Kohinoor fizz mocktail which had mango, ginger ale and grenadine in it and loved how it tasted. We ordered butter naan, rumali roti, butter chicken and dal makhani for main course and the butter naan and butter chicken was really good. The dal makhani was average but the rumali roti was cold which was disappointing. The prices are on the mid to higher range so I'd probably not be frequenting this place but it's a good restaurant for date nights and sudden Indian cravings once in a while.

Yelp
Best Indian food I have eaten in a long time. It would be great if they could ask spice level while ordering but the food was exceptional.

Yelp
Amazing Indian food in the heart of Mississauga, Ontario. So many good things to say. Cuisine can be best described as Indian with some Asian flair. Tried too many dishes to list them all. A couple of highlights were the Gobi Chili (General Zso's Cauliflower), Chili chicken, butter chicken, Kulcha (Naan stuffed with sautéed onions), and the Indian crème brûlée. Food was amazing and the service was solid. One of the better Indian meals I have had in recent memory. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came to attend a party and was hoping for a nicer experience than I had. The main dining room looked decent but we were in the party room. Our hosts did a lovely job with the decor but the room itself seemed run down with wall sconces that were flickering, a giant AC unit blowing air at people's head when walking by or taking pictures and chairs that were too big (but comfy). I arrived just before 6 pm and used the washroom (very disappointing) which was too dark and did not have toilet paper in 2/4 stalls. I reported the lack of toilet paper right away. Around 8 pm my friend went to the washroom and said there still wasn't any toilet paper in the first 2 stalls!! With a party of about 60 women that should have been addressed right away! There was not a lot of vegan/gluten free food but that may have just been what was served by our hosts. I didn't check the menu to see if they actually have more options. Staff were friendly but clueless at times.... Removed our water glasses as per photographer but never brought them back until we asked 3 times. Then they brought glasses but all the water was finished. Simple things that should not have needed requesting more than once. May or may not go back.....don't feel motivated to make the effort.

Yelp
Yo man, the food was great and yummy. But my parent loved the live singers there. All their words in quites" out of the world " . The live singer there was amazing . His name was Akshit. Ambiance was amazing and so was the service . I have less photos but a must visit when in Ontario

Yelp
Read the reviews before going and went with the high ratings when placing my order. The restaurant had a good amount of patrons there when I went to pick up my food. Observed the restaurant to be spacious inside with a fairly decent sized patio. Two guys by the podium were seating people. One had an oversized mask draping his mouth and chin and the other had a mask on his chin. From time to time, they'd pull them up. Mostly when seating customers inside the dining area. The servers and bartender were fully masked. The guys in the kitchen were out of view, so I couldn't see if they were covered. The guy packing to go orders had the same problem as the other two men above, wearing his mask as a chin-strap. His hands would touch his face and mask and then food. Even though food was wrapped, bagged and in containers, it didn't feel very hygienic. I was put off by the whole scene. Onto the food. I ordered Butter chicken. The sauce was semi-sweet, creamy and mildly spiced even though I asked for medium spice. The chicken pieces were generous and had been skewered as another person said. Seemed like the chicken was cooked in a tandoor, which would normally bring out its authentic flavour except that the chicken, while tender, lacked seasoning. It was super bland. I added salt but that didn't do anything. I also ordered garlic naan and was seriously disappointed! Large in size and also lacking flavour. It was so oily and slightly burnt. All in all, if I wanted to be disappointed, I would have attempted to make butter chicken myself. I don't know if it was a bad night but this place did not deliver on any front. Nothing I recieved fulfilled any craving I had for Indian. Maybe other dishes will appeal. I'll give them another chance one day.

Yelp
We were here last night to celebrate a friend's 60th and the it involved around 60 people and was located in a private room towards the rear of the restaurant Some feedback: If you are expecting 60 people in the GTA in December please do not place 6 chairs in the corridor for guests to use as a 'coat rack' When you're catering to a large crowd, kitchen planning must ensure that the food served is piping hot and not at room temperature Lukewarm Indian food is neither a pretty sight nor remotely delicious And why is it that a significant majority of Indian restaurants not bother to maintain even basic standards of hygiene in their washrooms? Tamarind: you have your work cut out for you

Yelp
Beautiful interiors, great food and exemplary location. I really liked the Pani puri shots which was so flavorful as well as dahi ke kebab which was crunchy on the outside and so creamy and delicate inside. The breads were amazing and so were the drinks. Service was a little slow even though the restaurant wasn't as busy. The loud music also seemed out of place for a fine dine place. Highly recommend visiting this place for the food though!

Naveen R.

Yelp
Tamarind has familiar dishes most popular in Indian restaurants everywhere, but they also include offerings from across the Indian landscape of cuisine. The onion stuffed kulcha bread and the butter chicken are obviously from the Northern areas of Punjab and Delhi respectively. The kulcha flat bread is huge and one piece is more than enough for a personal portion that can be used to sop up the curries. Plenty of cooked onions line the soft and chewy center of the bread that is crisped on the bottom and ends and finished in a tandoor oven. The butter chicken was the best I've had in a long while. The tiny holes in the meat itself let me know that the chicken pieces were skewered and spent some quality time in a blazing hot tandoor, before being tossed into a simmering sauce finished with tomatoes, cream and no shortage of real butter. It was moist and not dry one bit. I tried a portion of the tamarind flavored rice, an offering usually associated with the cuisine of southern India, and also because it was a namesake of the restaurant itself. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this dish. I do realize the flavor of tamarind is inherently sour by nature, but in renditions perfected in other establishments in my experience, the sour taste is usually offset by heat, or the addition of other spices or ingredients. This dish wasn't. The kulfi flavored falooda drink was tasty and thirst quenching. Lots of vermicelli and ice cream to end the meal on a sweet and high note.

Yelp
Not sure how this restaurant is still open, probably because they have average to good range of food items But service is extremely poor, the Manager there does not know how to treat/talk to their customers at least 6 customers including us had complaint about service. I mean if they don't want to respect theri customers atleast don't disrespect them. No greetings and very egoistic attitude towards customers Ambience was good, live music was good too but was loud for this kind of atmosphere All in all, Definitely don't recommend it to anyone

Amit J.

Yelp
The food was absolutely preposterous. We ordered momos but instead it looked like samosas covered in red paint. The other things we ordered all had a little bit too much of some thing or a little bit too less. The food was also not sieved hot and fresh either.

Richa R.

Yelp
Walking in we were greeted with really friendly staff, the atmosphere inside and on the patio was super chill with music playing Without further ado, onto the food! We got the following: - Chef's sizzler (assorted grilled meat: chef's choice) I believe ours consisted of tandoori chicken, grilled fish and grilled lamb - Butter chicken and tandoori naan - Chicken tikka sliders - G.O.A.T tacos - Pani Puri/Gol Gappe shots My favourite favourite app had to be the goat tacos, the goat was so tender and spicy balanced out with pickled carrots and their house sauce The chicken tikka sliders in my opinion weren't as spicy as I thought they'd be so it would definitely be an option for someone who would want something with flavour but not that crazy spice! The butter chicken was just perfect, I have to get butter chicken at every Indian restaurant I go to and they really did it justice. The tomatoey to creamy ratio was sooooo perfect, just the way I like it. The sizzler was literally smoking and had that perfectly grilled yet juicy flavour to it. Last but not the least the pani puri shots were so creative and innovative lol I never thought I'd eat my favourite street food snack as shot but hey I'm here for it! Loved how they've incorporated all my childhood favourite meals with different cuisines I only got to experience once I came to Canada, absolutely love the diversity and fusion that was displayed in their dishes. Thank you tamarind modernindian bistro for having us, we had an amazing time and will definitely be back to try more of those fusion and traditional items. See you soon. Check them out y'all!

Shabbir S.

Yelp
Good selection of items in the menu. They have some unique and interesting items. Food quality and quantity are good, 4.5 stars. Buffet is available for lunch. Noodle Bhel is delicious and recommend. A delicious fusion of the popular Indian street food.

Tim L.

Yelp
They have a nice outdoor patio that looks like downtown Toronto. They did a good job despite being in a suburban office building. Great ambiance and food and the drinks are great. The bartender can recommend mocktails for those who don't drink.

Sapna K.

Yelp
I visited this spot with my family the other day, and I had an overall enjoyable experience. Most items were quite good, although there were a few dishes I was slightly disappointed with. To start, I ordered the salted lassi as my drink, and it was made very well. For appetizers, we ordered the pani puri shots, tandoori momos and crispy chili gobi. I loved the pani puri shots, the pani that they came with was delicious and super flavorful. It also came in the cutest presentation, with the puris sitting on top of shot glasses. The gobi was delicious as well, it was fresh and crispy, coated in a yummy chili sauce. My family and I were not a huge fan of the momos; I didn't get much of a tandoori taste from them, and I was not a huge fan of the veggie filling they came with. For the main dishes, we ordered the old Delhi butter chicken, palak paneer, and baingan ka bhartha. I thought the butter chicken was decent, but not my favorite. The palak paneer was good too, but my favorite was probably the baingan ka bhartha; it was very flavorful and a little smoky. For breads we ordered the garlic naan, which is always yummy, and we tried the laccha parantha. The parantha wasn't bad, but VERY heavy with all the mains, and I was full after eating just one small piece. I would probably just order the naan next time. Lastly, we ordered the dum ki biryani which was served inside a dish that was covered by a flatbread similar to roti. The presentation looked very interesting, and the biryani came out of it piping hot. The biryani itself was very strongly flavoured and had a good amount of spice to it. I feel I was overall satisfied with my experience at Tamarind. I do think there are a few dishes that can be improved, but most items on the menu were tasty, and the service was good as well.

Jagdish N.

Yelp
I went to this place yesterday for a business lunch. Due to time limitations we went straight to the main dishes and skipped the appetizers. We ordered the Lamb Nihari ( slow braised) and the Chicken Kadai along with Garlic bread. All dishes were outstanding and the service was excellent. When we requested the server to have the Lamb deboned to make it easy for us to share the plate, she was courteous and professional and got it done in a minute. This location used to have the Host Restaurant and after it closed dorm during the pandemic, It was rebranded as the Tamarind under new ownership. Apparently the chef and kitchen staff remained. Host always had reliably good Indian food so in that respect I expect Tamarind to carry on with the good work.

Divyesh P.

Yelp
Coming from USA thought we will have good food but was disappointed. We ordered peri pari paneer Tika But there was no Perry perry sauce on the paneer there are two spots of beriberi on the side and they call it Perry Perry paneer tika Ridiculous Then we ordered Chennai chicken 65 But was very disappointed because it was not even 55 and they call it chicken 65 I had to throw the chicken out from my mouth it was that disgusting Also Ordered masala Mojito but when I tasted it it was no less than a simple and water and I paid six times price of the lime water or more I thank you everyone for not trying here at Tamrind There are many other awesome restaurants in Mississauga but you can try

Bryce K.

Yelp
Was great food tasted excellent and amazing variety. Service is unsurpassed always a waiter standing by. Expensive but value is worth it November 12/21

Darshan P.

Yelp
I don't really like to write bad reviews, but this one's necessary. We were a group of 17 people all vegetarians, so we expected the service to be slow so won't judge on that. It's a restaurant with an average table of 4-6 guest so a big table like our is hard to get right. We started off with their Tandoori Momos and Vegetable & Kale Seekh kabab. The Tandoori Momos were ordinary, nothing special. The sauce that coated the momos had no flavor at all. But I loved the Vegetable & Kale Seekh Kabab. For main course we ordered Tawa Paneer Masala- it was yellow! YES! YELLOW!! Didn't taste like tawa paneer at all, the gravy was quite runny but the quality of paneer was good. Vegetable Jalfrezi- This was inedible, it was a bunch of vegetables tossed in tomato puree, CANNED TOMATO PUREE! It was sour to another level. We left it and no one had to courage to even pack it. Vegetable Dum ki Biryani- It was decent, good flavors but just a bit dry. Naan- This was the best of the lot, it was soft and fluffy. Full marks to the Tandoor Chef. To sum up, it seemed like the chefs weren't trained enough. There's clear lack of understanding of Indian food.

Neha M.

Yelp
The menu options are great! The place is obviously in a convenient location and that's a plus point as well. Can't wait to visit them.Just sad that they changed the name though.

Shaylene C.

Yelp
Recently tried out the rebranded Tamarind restaurant and I tried so many delicious things that were so full of flavour. My favourite dishes of the night were the pani puri shots and the butter chicken. Another standout dish is the Tandoori Konkan Shrimp which is served on a sizzling plate. The shrimp were huge and so tasty. Parking is free after 6PM and can be validated during the day. They have a lunch buffet which I have to go back and try. The freshly made naan is also excellent.

Karan S.

Yelp
The place is very good, I visited them after COVID-19 food is delicio-ous and fresh. I will visit the place again. Highly recommended.

Elena L.

Yelp
My go to spot every-time I'm in the area, if you haven't tried their Gol Gappe Shots or Butter Chicken, you're missing out!

Ambrien R.

Yelp
i was invited to a tasting here and loved every thing i got to try! the presentation and flavours are spot on and every thing is halal (if that matters to you) the price is reasonable and i personally felt all the dishes could be shared between at least 2-4 people . it's tucked away in a corporate plaza but literally across the street from square one with tons of parking - PS it's free! we sat outside as indoor dining wasn't available but they now have that option open. if you're looking for vegetation options - they have a ton to try too!

Ayan T.

Yelp
Would give it a zero if I could. Sleepy service, poor food quality. Took two hours to get food. Food was dry and not cooked well, Awful! Service from start to finish was not good. Terrible food! We ordered two different Penner tikka with Punjabi goat masala, chicken. The chicken was flavorless and dry. The staff were miserable. I would NEVER tell anyone to eat here. Nothing was fresh and the waitresses and waiters were horrible.

Asif M.

Yelp
Excellent food and service under one roof. Karan who is Resturant manager is extremely accommodating and acceded all our requests. I hosted lunch for 24 guests with fixed menu and everything from starters to main course and desserts were all tasty. Chicken booti, fish fried, Punjabi quorma, chicken karahi, karahi pakora, mutton quorma, etc. and desserts Kheer and fresh jaleebi were excellent. Overall excellent food and service; good value for money.

Terry W.

Yelp
As you enter Tamarind Bistro you are immediately welcomed by staff which is terrific. The food is delicious and well-spiced, especially panipuri shots, tandoori chicken, Bhuna gosht (goat), chicken biryani and so much more. The salads all had fresh vegetables and went well with the main dishes. Great place!
