Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments

Culebra was our favorite island and Tamarindo Estates has the best snorkeling, hands down. The apartment was super clean and comfortable with gorgeous views and great privacy but the highlight was definitely the great snorkeling right off the private beach area. It is not a sandy beach, but a coral beach, which made the visability awesome! The soft corals are beautiful, all different colors of large fan coral, and we saw a lot of cool fish - everywhere you looked was something amazing from a 6 foot nurse shark and 4 foot eels to schools of blue tang and amber jack as well as groupers and angelfish. It is a short drive to the best sandy beach on the island, Flamenco Beach, as well as great restaurants like Mamacitas. I would definitely recommend staying here, the location is more than awesome and the check in service was friendly and quick -Gail was great and let us check in early and provided good information on grocery stores and snorkeling. It was a lovely, peaceful stay with beautiful views and great snorkeling - we loved it!

We didn't go to Culebra to shop or go out bar hopping or even tô be around people. We went to be alone and enjoy peace and tranquility. We found that at Tamarindo Estates. It's not a modern upscale resort. It's simple yet ample it has all you need to seclude yourself and enjoy natural animal sounds. It has the best snorkeling as long as you bring dive shoes or booties. The managers were knowledgeable about where the best snorkeling was. If you want to see the island I recommend renting a Jeep . Most things aren't far away but the hills are steep so a Jeep will get you there. The staff at Tamarindo were available and friendly yet didn't hover over us. It was a very tranquil and peaceful week.

The Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments are a delightful place to stay while enjoying the wonderful snorkeling offered by Culebra. The cabins are equipped with kitchenettes as well as both indoor and outdoor eating options. Also, there are only a dozen apartments in a huge area, so it's blissfully quiet and you enjoy tons of privacy. We spent six days in Culebra happily snorkeling with many turtles, rays, squids, and a host of fish, as well as the hard and soft corals, and a single shark! During that time we stayed in the Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments, lived on French toast with carrots, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and beer, and found that it was possible to swim out from the Tamarindo beach to both the Melones as well as the Carlos Rosario Beaches. A vehicle is handy since the distance between the Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments and the closest grocery store is over two miles, and there are several hills on the way.

We had a two-night stay at Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments and were so pleased to do so. Our hostess was incredibly pleasant and informative. The accommodations were simple and fulfilled all of our needs with a comfortable bed, good shower, and air conditioning we could adjust. The location was perfect - easy to get to various snorkeling sites on the island and direct access to the best coral reef we snorkeled (those staying outside of the complex do not have beach access to this reef). All in all, highly recommend Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments!

Really loved our stay at tamarindo estates, our room had a beautiful view of a smaller island next to culebra and the private beach house had some really great snorkeling. We made the mistake of not getting a rental car or cart before and when we arrived they were all sold out. On the bright side, almost every time we walked, a local offered us a ride into town. Monica who oversees the property was really attentive and absolutely wonderful. If you're looking for a low key, relaxing vacation with a lot of snorkling, we highly recommend tamarindo estates (as long as you also book a rental car).

My husband and I stayed at Tamarindo Estates for the second time this March, 2017 and found Tamarindo as delightful as our first visit. The views from the beach apartments are truly astounding. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing and there are always knowledgeable and friendly employees close by to help with any questions one might have. Guests are also given three cell phone numbers to call if need be. |The distance from town is perfect, although the road getting there isn't but is still perfectly drivable even in a golf cart. Tamarindo is far enough away from the (relative) bustle and noise of town to be quiet and secure but closer than many of the more upscale accommodations on the island.|Tamarindo is not a luxury resort by any means. The apartments are simple and clean. Be sure to bring all of your own food, spices, beverages, ice, etc. The views and proximity to great snorkeling however, are FANTASTIC!|We will be back to Tamarindo Estates for visit number three!

We stayed in 2 connecting apartments in Tamarindo Estates during Memorial day weekend 2017. ||Gail and Mina welcomed us to the apartments and allowed us an early check-in which was greatly appreciated.||This is very basic lodging: Small kitchen, patio, 1 bathroom and 1 bedroom. Everything was very clean when we arrived. You should know the apartments are small, we spent most of our time in the patio but since we went to Culebra for the beaches and to snorkel, not to hang out at the apartment the place worked well for us. We only cooked breakfast and had snacks so the kitchen was enough for us. Each room has a double bed and an extra bed (cot) plus a potent air conditioner so the 6 of us slept very well. ||||The property has a beach house from where there is access to a very good snorkeling spot. There we saw a turtle, a big family of squid (7), a large barracuda, a lion fish, lots of other fish and some pretty coral formations. To get in the water is very tricky because there are lots of rocks and coral formations between the shore and the water, I suggest you take some plastic shoes. ||We also snorkeled in Punta Soldado and Melones, the latter was the best. ||||They have some things to correct:||||1. The water heater needs fixing, it is either very hot or very cold. It will get less hot when the water runs for a while.||||2. We stayed in apartment 301 which felt too cramped because it had a bunker bed in the kitchen area, the was an apartment for 4 people, however, I suggest a maximum occupancy of 3 adults. The refrigerator on 302 was missing some door shelves which are necessary. This needs to be fixed.||||3. A detailed map of the snorkeling area in front of the beach house would be useful. It took us a long time to figure out how to get in, however, while exploring, we found an easy access right in front of the beach chairs. This would have saved us a lot of time.||||4. One of the best features of Tamarindo Estates is the darkness at night which is priceless for stargazing, however there were 2 very bright outdoor post lights on both sides of apartment 302 which diminished the darkness required for fabulous stargazing.These should be replaced with dark purple lightbulbs that don't affect it.

I am hesitant to share about this amazing property, because I want it all to myself! Twelve rustic units share 60 acres of pristine rainforest and perhaps the best snorkeling beach in all of Puerto Rico. The accommodations are bare bones- this is not the Four Seasons. But who cares? The property is the experience. We went last year, and brought my sister and brother this year. They were as delighted as we were. It’s all about the snorkeling.
