The facilities here are essentially an apartment with kitchen / dining / living rooms in addition to bedroom, meaning good value for the price charged. Gas stove, fridge and a few dishes / utensils are included. Breakfast, served in the room at the time requested, is excellent and varied. If you ate everything, they brought more the next day!. The room is reasonably quiet at night (neighbors were a bit loud on occasion in the early evening). AC adequate (cool season), in the bedroom only with a fan in living room and good cross ventilation. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially the German lady who owns the place. No English spoken. WiFi is excellent. GH location is relatively central in Santo Antonio, adjacent to Pelourinho . Good taxi to airport arranged. ||||As far as concerns / limitations go, some facilities are dated, especially the TV (small, old, no cable). The location is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues - the guesthouse is at the bottom of the steep, cobbled Largo do Pelourinho and requires a climb to get to rest of Pelo. Also, access to upper floors of the GH was via a steep, circular staircase, & you have to lug your own luggage up.||||While the particular location on Lgo do Carmo was safe until 8 or 9 pm, I was warned to avoid small, adjacent streets running off Largos do Pelourinho & Carmo. Cops have a mobile command centre in Lgo do Carmo adjacent to hotel. These concerns are general in Pelourinho, not specific to are around the GH. ||||There are few eating options nearby (the restaurant next door is somewhat pricey, had a limited menu and did not accept credit cards).

Pelourinho is the cultural heart of Brazil, and we couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy it. Out of the door, we immediately enjoy the lovely and unique views. Edith, the owner, is the friendliest, most helpful host you can find. Our special needs-room, diet-were accomodated quickly. Rooms are spacious, clean and well-appointed, with a very Bahia feel. True, the TV set is obsolete, but who comes to Pelourinho to watch TV? The sounds of the street, including the adjoining bar, are part of the Salvador experience, and with earplugs or a sound screen you can enjoy silence at night. We felt very safe walking the streets, and I do not understand the bad press Pelourinho gets: it's a world heritage site, and sure looks and feels like it. To double your pleasure and understanding of place bring a Jorge Amado book.

Perfect location just a few buildings up the street directly across from the Pelourinho. It's easy to walk into the heart of the old city and even easier to walk up the hill to the Convento do Carmo and the string of boutique pousadas, cafes and shops along the Rua Direita do San Antonio. Breakfast was simple and filling, served every day on a tray brought to our apartment. We didn't need to cook, but it was nice to have the option, and definitely nice to have a fridge. The apartment was adorable. The wi-fi was strong and reliable. Although there was a language barrier, the resident caretakers and manager were super helpful, even going out of their way to help us arrange last-minute transportation to Valenca when we chickened out on the several-hour long queue for the ferry. The one and only drawback is the terribly loud bar across the street. We were there during the June festival season, and and it just seemed to NEVER CLOSE, pumping loud music all day and night. Because of the stone streets and the tall buildings, the the music and every drunk shout was amplified... as were the fireworks that seemed to last until dawn during Sao Joao. But, I had earplugs, so that made it bearable, and my friend who was sleeping in the bedroom with the A/C on wasn't as disturbed as I was on the sofa bed.

If you want to stay in Pelourinho, this is a great place to stay. It is very close to all the restaurants and activities in the square. The building is secure and everyone is very friendly. Breakfast is delivered privately to your apartment each day at whatever time you specify. The apartments are clean and in good condition. We headed to Morro de Sao Paulo after, and they booked the tickets for us and even drove us to the boat station free of charge. Very helpful.||||We stayed in a two bedroom, and the only complaint is that only one of the rooms had air conditioning. We knew about this at the time of booking, so we weren't surprised, but it was during the hot summer, and would have been nice to have air conditioning throughout the entire unit (or at least in another bedroom). Also, they cut off power to the air conditioner during the day to save on costs. A lot of pousadas and hostels do this, which is fine since we were away from the apartment all day at the beaches and seeing the sites. One of the days, though, one member of our group wasn't feeling well, and stayed in the room during the day. Since the air conditioner wasn't working, she had to endure the heat. I'm sure if she asked the staff to turn it on, they would have, but she didn't know to do this at the time.||||Also, no one spoke English. This was an issue everywhere in Salvador (and most everywhere in Brazil in general). If you don't speak Portuguese, bring along Google translate or something to help. Overall, though, a very good experience.

We stayed there few nights in a group of 10 people and the accommodation they're offering was perfect: two furnished apartments in the very center of the old city, waling distance from pelourinho and the elevator to reach lower town.|I extended my stay for another two nights and had been moved in a lovely room on the rooftop of this historical building, from which i could see the roofs. If you're travelling in couple i definitely recommend you ask for this very nice room with terrace and sight.|abundant and fresh breakfast is included. personnel doesn't speak english but they're really friendly willing to help.

Excellent location. Apartment is a bit dated. People previously raved about the (optional) breakfast, but we found it mediocre at best and definitely not worth the R$20 pp. The bar below can be a bit loud at night and the neighbour across the street in the in the morning, but that comes with the location. Assuming you come experience Salvador and not spend too much time in your room this is a great place.

We had a great experience in one of their serviced apartments. They are in the heart of the Historic Centre, there is a great restaurant right downstairs (and also all over the place). If you like to explore some of the Brazilian history and culture like we do while minding your budget, that is the option for you too.||||I shall also mention that the place is owed by a family that lives in the place, so we could count on them 24/7.||||Loved it!

Breakfast made to order and brought to the room each morning.||||Large apartment for two people. ||||Great location if you want to stay close to everything in Pelo.||||The bedroom faced away from the noisy street and we didn't hear anything!||||It was also the best wifi we had in all of the Salvador pousadas we stayed at!||||Just a heads-up: if you don't speak Portuguese or a related language, you may have struggles talking to the staff (we were fine because we speak Spanish; no one there spoke English the days we stayed). ||||If you have mobility issues, be aware that there is no elevator.
