Tandoori Kabab

Tandoori Kabab catered our daughter's wedding (~100 guests) at the Hilton Christiana in Newark, DE recently and it was a blow out success. We worked with Maqbool Ahmed, the owner to come with a menu after an elaborate tasting session! The agreed menu had fourteen dishes with multiple appetizers, entrees, and two desserts. It was served in an open buffet style. It was a lunch reception and even though the caterer was 40 miles away the food was served perfectly on time and beautifully presented. They even accommodated our last minute request to add lamb chops (which were to die for!) to the mixed grill. The caterers staff coordinated perfectly with the hotel staff to keep the food refilled to match our guests' dining pace. Special shout out to "Kaddu Halwa" (pumpkin dessert) and it was scraped down to the last bit by our guests. It was very authentic, matching what you will find in India and Pakistan. Everyone enjoyed the variety and couldn't not stop talking about how delicious and fresh everything tasted. We even got to box some leftovers for future use! If you are looking for a full service caterer for a desi wedding in the NJ-PA-DE area, I strongly recommend Tandoori Kabab. You won't be disappointed!

The food here was really good! Everything had a nice spice to it and was made well. The chicken tikka masala was well made and authentic. We also got the chicken Chapli and lamb kebab. Took some time to have our dishes ready and it’s more of a takeout place, so I don’t recommend dine in, but I will definitely be ordering take out from here again

On our takeout rotation for family dinner! We get a few orders of the tandoori chicken, 2 pieces per order and for only $11. It’s quite spicy, but really tasty with some yogurt/white sauce and salad

Do not let the weary facade deceive you, nor the modest strip mall walls that seem to whisper of age and anonymity. The humble surroundings melt away, replaced by a sensory landscape of spice and fire. The Butter Chicken was a river of velvet, a rich, crimson tide that sings of cream and fenugreek. It is not merely a curry; it is a warm embrace in a bowl, exquisite and soulful. The Tandoori Kabobs, these morsels bear the memory of the fire. Tender testaments to the clay oven, smoky char kissed edges yet tender within, spiced with the wisdom of generations. The Naan, to speak of the bread is to speak of clouds tethered to the earth. Pillowy, warm, and blistered to perfection, it is the perfect vessel to carry the heavy riches of the curries to your lips. The Samosas, however, were a quieter verse. Crisp and competent, they were enjoyable, yet they lacked the soaring heights of the entrees, a prelude that pleased, but did not dazzle. But a shadow fell upon the meal. For a dish commanding such a princely sum, the insufficiency of ingrained, implicit basmati rice felt like a cold silence. To serve such rich, complex curries without their faithful grain companion is to paint a masterpiece and withhold the frame. The food is a triumph, but the value left a hollow space where the rice should have been.

Most of the food was decent.. the naan and samosa chat was outstanding. However for as many meals as we bought, no rice came with it?? I called back after picking up the order because I thought there had been a mistake but no- the man told me on the phone I had to purchase the rice separately. I have NEVER heard of any place serving this type of food with no rice in the meal. That’s not a meal. With the size of portions vs. price and no rice, I probably won’t come back unless I’m really craving samosa chat.

Service is extremely bad. Very rude stuff. Food quality was good a few times I visited but now it’s not the same anymore.

We have been ordering appetizers from this place for last 7 years . But past few months food quality has been so poor !!!! The samosa for examples used to be crispy and tasty but now the size is going down (it has become mini samosa ) . Over cooked , over fried and doesn’t taste good … the chicken kabab has that raw smell too . Very disappointing !!!!!! I have posted few pictures of the samosa I got yesterday and you can see the shape and the color texture of the samosa . We have stopped getting the kebabs. They need to improve on their food quality !!!!!

Be warned if catering for events they were several hours late! There was very little communication after the deposit was sent for catering. I would recommend going somewhere else as we also were not delivered the full list of food items we paid for. Do not recommend!!!!

Great food, had the butter chicken which had the perfect amount of kick to it, accompanied by white rice and garlic naan. Also tried their chicken kebab which was juicy and full of flavor. Def will be back

Food is great service is decent, and place is clean, heater was off but place wasn't too cold.

I ordered a very large order on an extremely busy Friday but I called as soon as they opened for pickup in THREE hours. The inside of the restaurant was insanely busy, even though they were closed for dine in. They really dropped the ball because I got there at our agreed pickup time and then proceeded to wait another 45 minutes for my order to be finished. And to top it all off, they forgot multiple parts of my order, including a full entree! They are a 30 minute drive away so that was extremely frustrating! The saving grace was that they remade all the missing food for us and didn't give any trouble at all. If this review was only for the food, this would be a full five star review. This is definitely the best Indian/Pakistani/desi food around. I've tried several different places around the area and I have to say, without a doubt, this is THE BEST food you can get to satisfy the craving. Everything is so fresh and delicious. The tandoori chicken was so moist and flavorful, the biryani spiced to perfection and the naan, to die for. Especially when dipped in the butter chicken sauce! The kabobs were also fantastic, but be warned, they come alone, so you have to order rice or naan on the side separately.

Man I wish this food was better. While I was waiting in line a lady had come back after picking up her food and was yelling at the cashier that her food was cold and that she wanted hot food. A few moments later, a gentlemen dining in with his family got up from his seat and was angered that he got the wrong order after waiting for a long time to get his food. I felt bad for the cashier and other employee. I patiently waited for my takeout order with my daughter for 40 minutes. There were many people coming in and out for orders so I thought it may be worth the wait. When I got home, my family couldn't have been more disappointed in our food. The tikka masala was runny, very watery and little taste other than the strongest coconut flavor - strange for tikka. I got the tikka kabob. It tasted like they poured the entire bottle of turmeric on it. The rice, can't really go wrong with rice, right? Wrong! It was bland and had a strange bad water after taste. My daughter got a simple chicken fingers and fries. They were bland and tasted reheated maybe thru a microwave. My husband and I have the worst stomach aches now. I despise giving bad reviews unless it's extremely disappointing because I like to give all establishments the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we went on a bad day and they weren't on there game because of all the upset customers? Who knows, but I know my family won't be back. If you're looking for awesome tikka masala, try Tiffin on route 70. It's the BEST.

Food here is stunning. So flavorful and tastful. Very spicy and tastes authentic. Definitely going there again. Thumbs up

The man who took my order looked like I had done something nasty on the floor. Two times I asked him to make my son's dish mild, I was polite both times. The dish was NOT mild, but very spicy. My dish, however, was bland. And over cooked. The naan bread was reminiscent of a pizza box. I won't be back.

Tandori Kabab came up on our Yelp search for local cheap eats and being hungry and less then a 10 minute drive, it was a no brainer to give this small Indian restaurant a try. Tandori Kabab is in a nondescript strip mall located on Burnt Mill Road in Vorhees. It is very close to the Echelon Mall and almost across the street from Sweet Eats. The restaurant isn't exactly a "hole in the wall" but it is very basic and also very clean. There is a menu and also an illuminated sign with photos of the dishes. One orders at the counter and the food is cooked to order. The pleasant young women told us it would be about 15 minutes. They have a refrigerator with soft drinks and water, they also have Mango lassi, and some other drinks on the menu. My daughter and I ordered vegetable Samosas, Chicken Tika Masala, Tandori Chicken and Garlic Nan, two sodas and bottled water. Our total was $22.00 and this was a lot of food. The Samosas came out quickly and were very good and not too greasy from being fried. The garlic Nan was delicious, soft and fresh. The Tandoori chicken had great flavors and spices and the meat was moist. The Tika Masala was also very good and this is one of my favorite dishes. We should have ordered a side of rice or more Nan to use with the Tika Masala sauce. Tandori Kabab is not fine dining but the food is very good and the prices are cheap. The utensils are plastic and the napkins thin; there is little to no ambiance, but who cares when the food is that good? 4 solid Yelp stars and definitely coming back.

Small portions, bad curry and awful service. Called in an order 30 minutes ahead of time, showed up for pickup and told it would be an extra 5 minutes. Ended up getting my food 45 minutes after reminding them I was waiting for it. Rude service.

We will be ordering from here again. The butter chicken was amazing, but for the price, I certainly expected a much bigger portion.

Worst experience with the Qeema naans. They were totally burnt down from the bottom. The owner refused the accept his mistake. Very rude customer service.

Wow , some friends want me to give them a second chance and try their food. So I ordered 12chicken Kabab and 6 nan to take out. No one eating in side, but lots of people coming to pick there's orders that mean they are very busy for take out. Chicken Kabab and Nan are perfect size , also taste is A+ . Love it and definitely go back Recommend 100% for take out

Not the best ambiance, not the best customer service. I ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Beef Basa'i. I had to wait an additional 10 minutes from the estimate I was told, but for some reason ALL the food I received was barely tepid, and our Naan was SEVERELY burnt. That being said, once warmed to an edible temperature: the Butter Chicken was moist-the sauce was mild and smooth, the Chicken Tikka Masala was packed with the perfect amount of heat and spice, and the Beef Baha'i my husband and I could eat that every week it was THAT GOOD! In summation, if you want a nice romantic spicy dinner, this isn't the place to order from, but if you want leftovers that you can reheat and are packed with authentic flavors, this place is a hidden gem, as long as you're willing to reheat your food and maybe skip the Naan- stick with the rice.

I'm so sad, this is my first time ordering here and I was very disappointed. I just got off my third nursing shift in a row and am way too tired to cook. I ordered the butter CHICKEN and the naan and garlic naan. I opened up my order and noticed no rice, okay, that sucked; I opened up my butter chicken and there was NO CHICKEN in the container. I'm not sure if I'm wrong here but I expected chicken in my butter chicken. I received a container of cold sauce with absolutely no remnants of chicken in it. I was really hopeful because I love Indian food and now I have nothing to eat after spending $36 on nothing

Love tandoori kebab, Wouldn't reccomend for a sit down dinner but the take out is always amazing. Staff is friendly and helpful. When ordering just be aware that everything is made fresh even the naan so expect it to take a little bit longer than some other take out. Fresh naan is to die for!

The food was very tasty. The portion sizes were large. My wife and I can put away some serious food and we ended up taking leftovers home.

Food was too oily and the butter chicken was watery, and we were given small portions for the food, which was 40$.

Great place. Their lamp shops are more like steak such a large quantity and very tasty food.

I went back today and got take out: kulcha/naan, chicken kebabs, chicken cheese kebabs and chicken tikkas. Yes, all chicken but it's such a versatile protein. Anyway, their naans were great and the kebabs/tikkas were on point. The naans were not oversized, did not have any undercooked parts,were nice and soft with the sesame seeds and biggest pet peeve of mine: NOT burned or dry. The kebab masala wasn't over or under spiced; it was just right. They also were not dry and were made fresh. They had an excellent appropriate fat to lean meat ratio for the kebabs. The tikkas masala was fantastic, they weren't dry and were moist and flavorful I have to give it 5 stars!!! Will come again!!!

Look, here's the good an the bad. The ambience is a bit lacking. It's not really the kind of place you'd take a date to. However, when I was driving by the other day, I saw two men loading aluminum trays of food into their car. It was after 4:00 and, believe it or not, I hadn't eaten anything yet. I pulled into the parking lot and asked the two men if the food was good. They said the food was great and they recommended the Chicken Bihari and the Lamb Chops. So, I went in an ordered the Chicken Bihari. Okay, here we go: I didn't leave the restaurant until about 30 minutes later, even though it was a take out order. While I waited people kept coming in to get trays and and trays of food. I held the door open for a few of the customers as they carried out their trays. It was a pretty friendly atmosphere. Finally, 15 minutes into it, I approached the counter and asked the guy how much longer it was going to take. I was told 5 or 10 more minutes. It ended up being more like about 15 or 20 more minutes before I got my food. The food: While I waited I also added a mango lassi and naan to the order. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and tender. Loved it! The naan was also wonderful. I wish I had ordered more. The cream-ish sauce was cool. However, I could take it or leave it. The mango lassi was larger than what you'd get from most Indian or Pakistani restaurants. However, I didn't find it as good as some of the other mango lassis I've had. Overall, I would go back and try the lamb chops like the two guys in the parking lot recommended. Just a couple of few things: I think more people working in the restaurant needed to be wearing masks. Thinking back, I'm not sure if anyone was. That being said, everyone was pretty friendly and the customers were really nice. One customer offered me a seat, since he saw I'd been waiting there awhile. Later on, I opened the door for him several times while her carried trays of food out of the restaurant for his own party. Oh, before I forget, I found out that everything is made fresh. So, that accounts for the long wait. The naan really did taste fresh, so I buy that story. Next time I'll order ahead and recommend you do the same. If they say 15 minutes, count on 20 or 25.

This place is Amazing. Fresh, authentic and reasonably priced. Nothing compares within a 100 miles. We got chicken kebab, naan, tandoori chicken, beef Baha'i and more. Highly recommended.

First of All the customer service was worst, after waiting 30 minutes, I got Haleem from them, I found a cockroach in it.. very unhealthy food.. please watch carefully before eating, if you HAVE to eat in this restaurant.!!!

We initially were looking for Vietnamese food but all the places were closed so we stumbled on this place that somehow had 4 stars. I don't think anybody who has eaten this food has ever eaten Indian food from Philly - because this is not good. I had to stir it for a few minutes and still all the oil wouldn't mix - I've never seen oily Indian food like this. No flavor simply just spicy HOT. I specified mild but I could barely eat it how spicy it was. The rice was weird, not white not brown somewhere in between. The naan was decent but it was just pizza dough it wasn't proper naan. 1 star is generous. Don't eat this, spend the $5 bridge toll and go to the city

Excellent meal as always! Lamb chops, butter chicken and Palaak paneer plus the fresh made naan. Plus this restaurant is Halal. Thank you for another amazing meal.

The food was spectacular, as was the service! They made everything fresh to order and it sure was worth the wait!!!! If you haven't tried Tandoori Kebab, you are missing out!!!

Not bad but definitely have way too small portion sizes for the price. I ordered first on grubhub, which was a huge mistake. They charge 7 dollars more online than if you would just call for the chicken bihari. Not only that, but it only came with just the chicken; paid 17 bucks for just 4 pieces of chicken with no rice or even bread on the side. I even asked for red and green chutney twice and they tried to cheap me out on that as well. They eventually gave it to me after asking a THIRD time. The food was slightly above average in my opinion. The spices were great but there was a slight sandy texture to the chicken that threw me a bit off.

Good takeout place, not much seating available. there are only 4 or 5 tables. Food is really good, freah and authentic. Biryani and kabobs were really good. I also tried dal and it was good. You must try Garlic naan. Portions are very good size 3 ppl can eat easily.

I requested that my chicken tikka masala dishes be mild and I urged the importance with the guy over the phone several times and was assured they would be. Low and behold they were so spicy they were inedible. The chicken Bihari kabob was delicious as usual, but damn if you guys can't accommodate heat level adjustments just say so! The first bite felt like a volcano erupted in my mouth. I called to settle my beef and the guy over the phone said to try the butter chicken next time and had the nerve to argue about the heat level. There won't be a next time.

I come here every week for lunch, the food here is affordable and tasty. The interior is small, but not overly cramped similar to that of a Chinese take-out restaurant containing only a handful of tables. The chicken kabab is seasoned very well and not overly salty and the portions are generous for the price. You get 4 kababs per order and they are roughly 10 inches long often served with raw onion, jalapeño slices, lemon wedge, and Raita, which what I surmise is like an Indian equivalent of the Greek tzatziki sauce. I had to deduct two stars for the other item I ordered, which was the chicken tikka masala. The dish was seasoned just fine, but the problem was I had to skim off 4 tablespoons of oil. Secondly I ordered extra spicy, what I received was barely mild. Overall, the price for the food is very good, however if you want good chicken tikka masala this is not the place. Gagan Palace is a short drive away and little pricier, but the quality of food is vastly superior. Would recommend for those dining on a budget. 3/5

I knew when this placed opened a few years ago it would be a diamond in the rough. Located in a old strip center that is highly overlooked. I waited wayyyyy to long to finally try it out. But I can officially say this place is f$&@#% AMAZING! Only tried a few things such as the chicken kabab, chicken Bahari kabab and chicken tikka masala. All great! I pretty much threatened my boyfriend for the last piece of the bahari chicken kabab. I have never been to the actual location as I always send my live in postmates to go get it. But my postmaster, I mean boyfriend, said the place is clean, basic and the people have always been friendly. He also said both times he's gone, the front has been flooded with people waiting for take out (always a good sign). I urge you to not make the same mistake I made by waiting to try this place out!

These guys are kIngs of tandoor!! Mr Maqbool the former head chef of the famous Shalimar restaurant in Edison,NJ has gone solo and opened this joint!! Save your trip to Edison NJ or Kabobeesh and come here! Breakfast like halwa puri and nihari haleem sold daily as well. Shalimar Restaurant and Grill taste in South Jersey!

The Food is amazing!!! Very well flavored and freshly made! Definitely worth the hour drive and I'm already planning another trip.

We came here two days in a row, although the place is small but it's clean and as hygiene matters a lot to me so I was happy. I have tasted almost all the kebabs on the menu, my favorite were chicken Chapli and chicken seekh kebab. The Haleem was really good as well. The food is full of flavor and their chai though takes long to be prepared,is completely worth the wait. I would recommend it to everyone who lives here or is visiting!

This place rocks. They really have no idea what's going on other than making delicious frigging food. Super friendly. I like all the kabobs, the lentils and the chickpeas. Their breads aren't as good as some of the other Indian/Pakistani places in the area but they do the job.

Great fresh food, nice portions and amazing flavor. A coworker recently introduced me and I never knew it was hidden in a strip mall. Like others said, inside is not the nicest and the plates/utensils are disposable - but you can't beat the food and prices! The papdi chaat is very large and at $4, is a steal. Most kebabs are around $7 and naan etc is a few bucks more. If you go to some 'fancy' Indian or Pakistan place, your paying double for not even as fresh food. Call for pickup and note it may take 20 minutes as all their kebabs are fired fresh. I went twice this week alone and will be back in the future!

Hands down best Pakistani/Indian food in South Jersey! Their recipes are very true to Punjabi food and it reminds me of my moms cooking. Their naan and prathas are fresh and tasty and go great with kebabs and chicken curry. Their kheer, gajar ka halwa, and rasmalai are also excellent. Highly recommend if you are looking for an authentic taste of South Asian food!

Only place in South Jersey where i have seen the best tandoori chicken. Can't match them for sure. Super tender and tasty. Friendly staff. Not so good biriyani. Very good Karahi and Kababs.

This is the worst experience one can have. Ordered food and was told about 45 minutes interval, reached there in 1 hour and was informed to wait for 15 more minutes for a very small order. Kept waiting for 40 minutes and ordered items kept coming in patches and on inquiring about status staff responded disrespectfully. They made us feel like we are begging and getting food for free. Owner was hopelessly disrespectful towards customers and food was sub-standard and cold due to 25 minutes gap in order fulfillment. My last visit to this horrible place and I will ensure all friends and family will quit going there. Please try something else where you will be treated well and served quality food.

I have been searching for great Indian since I moved from the Iselin, NJ area. (Indian food capital of the North East) I am not a fan of those mediocre Indian Buffets and those high priced "wihite table cloth" ala carte places with only marginally better food. I was on the search for a place that served fresh and yummy Indian at a price point that allows me to try a few different dishes without breaking the bank. Tandoori Kabab has made me an instant fan. This place is a take out place with a few tables for those who need to eat on the run. Everything is made to order, so it may take a bit of time if they are busy, but it will absolutely worth your time. I am posting the menu so you can call ahead The Chicken Tikki, Palak Paneer and Chicken Kabobs were great!

Food was delicious. The chicken tandoori was juicy and flavorful. The chicken Tikka masala was perfect. The food is well priced and made fresh to order.

I'm no authority on Indian cuisine but I think this place is worth a visit if you're craving some tasty kabobs. I've come in a few times and was told the wait is at least 25 minutes because of catering jobs they take on ,but most times they'll get your food out much faster than advertised. Thanks for being honest! I usually get the tandoori or chicken tikka and the meat is always packed full of flavor while maintaining its juiciness. Juicy meat is good meat. The fish kabobs and roti are solid as well and the portions are pretty substantial for what you pay. If you know you want some kabobs on the weekend, I suggest calling in your order or... You can wait. The food is worth the wait though! All in all good food, good people, and good prices!

Best food in an auspicious location. Inexpensive and delicious. Just be mindful of the wait time as they make to order. So worth it.

I had a taste for Indian food. I did not feel like going to a buffet or going to one of the fancy places. I tried this place a whim and I am soooooooooooo pleased. This is a small hole in a wall, to go place. the foods pricing is very reasonable. Call head, though. You may to wait otherwise. I enjoyed the curry goat, chicken tikka and garlic naan. It was all delish! It was so good. I went two nights in a row.

I happened to come across this restaurant on their second day in business and mentioned that I was looking to place a catering order for my office which was to be delivered in the coming week. I had been talking to a couple of Pakistani restaurants in Philly but they were not agreeing to deliver an order of my size or were charging too much. The owner at Tandoori Kabab offered to complete the catering order and to assure me of their quality, gave an on the house, full sized order of two of their items which was absolutely delicious. I placed a catering order for 25-30 people which was delivered on time, fresh, delicious, right amount and at the exact spice level I had requested. I would highly recommend this restaurant. They are new in town but clearly have great cooking experience, excellent customer service and a wonderful menu including halva poori "Lahori Nashta" daily :-D

By far the best kabobs I've had away from home...let the nostalgia hit!!! I cant give this 5 stars becayde of the slow service. Actually I'd give this restaurant 4.5 stars if there was an option. They do make up for that flaw with low prices and amazingly fresh foods. Their seekh kabobs are my absolute favorite!!

I was very disappointed with the food and portion of food. I ordered the lamb curry for $10. The portion was small. I figured if the portion is this small, the taste has to make up for it. I was mistaken. The dish was very bland. The naan was good if that counts for anything.
