What a sight to see...worth the journey, however it would have been nice if there was more of a walk to do directly from Tane...we hopped in the car and saw the father of the forest which is 2 minutes drive up the road, and definitely worth doing whilst uour there, more of a bush walk, only about 45 minutes I think. Beautiful though, lots to spot, fungi, different trees, flowers, insects....kids enjoyed it (ages 10 & 13) and we enjoyed it too!

An awe-inspiring experience. Tāne Mahuta is absolutely majestic — standing before this ancient giant is humbling. The short walk through native forest is beautiful and easy. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

Wonderful to call in on our way home. Well done on the new path/ board walk. Stunning tree and lovely to get a photo taken by the local doc man who is sitting there to watch out. No rubbish and stunning birds in the bush.

Mesmerising experience, if you want to feel divine, this is your place. With Tāne Mahuta standing broad, tall and majestic, you’ll feel safe and strong. Words can’t explain the stream of emotions run through you around Tane Mahuta

Well worth the visit if you are in the area, parking can be a little difficult at peak times. It is only a short walk off the path, disappointing that there was no signage or information at the base of the tree. It currently closes at 4 pm as they have staff on site to ensure people are obeying the rules. Be sure to visit the nearby Te Matua Ngahere. Park at Kauri Walks and walk in 20 minutes to see this even older Kauri, the forest surrounding it is also beautiful and an easy gravel and board walk.

Wow, Tane Mahuta is so majestic and magnificent 😍 The calming and peaceful energy can be felt from the carpark. There is a conservation guide who can answer your questions and tell you the story of Tane Mahuta. Please clean your shoes and leave your food and drink in your car. Please also walk on the footpath and not on soil as it can contaminate the soil and harm Kauri trees.

Such a cool experience! Tāne Mahuta is absolutely massive — way bigger than we expected — and standing in front of it was kind of magical. We had an amazing guide who really brought the place to life with stories and history, especially the cultural side of things, which made it even more special. The walk was super easy, and the whole forest had a really peaceful, calming vibe. Totally worth the visit if you’re up this way

This is a must see! This tree dates between 1,250 to 2,500. Funny enough I visited on February 18, and on that day, the staff removed a lady who was smoking in the middle of the forest. Today, February 27, I just saw on the news that there is a fire in the forest, close to the tree. This is a reminder for people not to smoke in nature.
