Tangwick Haa Museum

Wonderful museum with great historical gems. Sewing, maritime to mention a couple. Great gift shop. There's a special refrigerator prior to entering. Be sure and check out the goodies. Also, stop by the lovely gardens. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area!

This was once the Laird's home. Family name of Chenie. Now used as a museum about local history. There is a small parking area plus a small cupboard containing food stuffs in a fridge. It has an honesty box inside. We were made very welcome by Kirstene. Good to chat to. Her local knowledge was great. There is a little shop and a place to get a drink. You can get a good paper area map

A gem of a place - fascinating displays of local natural history along with historical artefacts within the old haa. There is a really super shop with knitwear and local crafts - we really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended.

Really lovely place and the lady running it is so friendly (don't say she's Australian 😜) A very interesting museum and a lovely bay area just a short walk past the museum too, well worth a stop off.

A lovely little museum about the local area. Entry free but there’s a donation box. Tea & coffee available on the same basis. Also has toilets, a useful facility in a remote area! Very welcoming.

Do not be fooled / put off from entering by the exterior. What looks from the outside as an uninspiring, uninteresting place is actually a fantastic treasure trove and should be on everyone's to visit list. As soon as you cross the threshold you are transported across the ages as this little museum offer a glimpse into Shetlands rich, cultural history. And do strike up a conversation with the very friendly staff - they have such a wealth of both knowledge and personal stories to tell that is just fabulous to hear. If you do take the time to visit, you will leave knowing so much more about all aspects of life and the culture of Shetland, which will surely enrich your visit to the island. If driving, there is a small car park at the end of the tiny, winding road - so bare with it. Also, do be aware that during the summer season this is a destination for the big cruise liners that visit - try not be there when these coaches arrive. Also, it is free to enter, but please do make sure you have cash to either buy something or donate to the centre. And lastly, give yourself the time to walk down the road to the coastal bay; its only a couple of minutes walk and you'll likely see seals hauled out and highly likely an otter foraging along the shoreline.
