I had a quality time in Tannel. Owner of Tannel has great knowledge about whisky & cocktail. craft cocktail is authentic, original and tasty! Atmosphere is one of the best you can experience in Beppu. The only thing he failed was recommending me another bar- which wasn’t as good as his. haha

Amazing hidden bar in Beppu. My friend and I stumbled across this place by accident, having noticed a nondescript door. The decor was very minimalist with wooden furnishings and records playing. The bartender was very friendly and kind. He spoke great English and the drinks were very good. Huge plus for the Akkeshi single malt whisky - one of the smokiest and best Japanese whisky’s I’ve tried! Definitely recommend while you’re in Beppu!

So happy our friends brought us here! Incredible music (Tom Mische) delicious whisky (Nikka Single Malt Yoichi) and the best coffee jelly I've ever had. Kenzo-san is a fantastic barber/mixologist. The dried figs and chocolate that really complimented the drinks. 10/10, must visit if you're in Beppu, thanks again for an amazing night Kenzo-san!

TANNEL（タンネル）｜別府の夜、扉の向こうに広がる音とカクテルの静かな魔法 仕事で訪れた別府の夜。 お客様のご厚意で、とっておきのバーに連れて行っていただきました。 お店の名前はTANNEL（タンネル）。 大分の方言で「訪ねる」という意味だそうです。 ここを訪ねる人に、特別な夜を届けたい。そんな想いが込められていると聞いて、ぐっと心を掴まれました。 入口は控えめで、いわゆる“知る人ぞ知る”という雰囲気。看板はあるけれど目立たず、扉の先に何があるのか少し緊張しながら足を踏み入れます。 中に入ると、音楽好きにはたまらない空間。 カウンターを中心に据えた落ち着いた店内には、身長ほどもある大きなスピーカーが2つ。棚にはずらりとLPレコードが並び、今や珍しいレコードプレイヤーが静かに回っていました。 マスターは音楽やフェスに深い造詣を持ち、ご自身でも音楽を楽しまれているそう。話の端々から“本物の音好き”であることが伝わってきます。 いただいたのは、その日のおすすめ「巨峰のオリジナルカクテル」。 巨峰のフレッシュな甘みと酸味が絶妙にバランスされた一杯で、グラスを口に運ぶたび、別府の夜がほんのり紫に染まるような気分になります。 おつまみには、ドライフルーツとチョコレートがさりげなく添えられて。 派手な料理はないけれど、音楽とお酒の余韻を楽しむにはちょうどいい。 連れて来てくださった方とマスターは旧知の仲で、共通の友人の話で盛り上がる会話を横目に、私はただその空間に身を委ねていました。音楽、空気、会話、すべてが心地よい。 1時間ほどの滞在で、お会計はカクテル・おつまみ・チャージ込みで2,000円ほど。 この内容、この空間でこの価格は驚きです。 TANNEL。 この名前をそっと胸にしまっておきたい。 次は、大切な誰かを“訪ねる”気持ちで、連れて来ようと思います。
