Best Late Night Menu In Downtown
If you want to dine past 10pm and you're around crossroads then this is your place because they have a full menu dedicated to late night eats, and I'm not talking your basic bar food. Tannin is know for not only its divine dishes but also its dining experience and that doesn't suffer once the sun goes down and the city winds down. I've found myself desperate for a place to eat past a certain hour and now, Tannin always scratches that itch. The menu isn't dumbed down, it provides the same class as the regular Tannin menu just a paired down version of options. If you want the best medium rare prepared burger in the city this is my pick, of course you may order your burger any way you wish but when the quality of meat is up to par dare to go mid rare is what I always say. Tannin knows how to listen to its customer, your steak will never be under or over done (in my experience) and your burger will always melt in your mouth and be succulent. The fries are also something to be admired, simple the way a fry should be but salted with flaky rough sea salt that pops in your mouth, the inside is fluffy and delectable. Truffle can be hit or miss, when truffle oil is overused it's a sad excuse for luxury however, when it's used right then, it hits the umami taste bud HARD. Tannin, of course, has perfected the truffle fry because it in itself had perfected everyday luxury, at least in my book. The happy hour here is wonderful, the dinner service always seems to go off without a hitch and the after hours service is stellar. If we're talking appetizers on the happy hour offerings then definitely order the crispy shrimp (which is also on the late night menu) it's lightly fried and drizzled with a scrumptious sriracha sauce that is creamy and slightly spicy, think bang bang shrimp but less messy. The mussels are also always executed well and what pairs better with a glass of white? But, back to that burger...it's probably my top wagyu burger in the city because let's face it, most times I can't tell the difference from a regular degular burger and the wagyu variety. That is not the case at Tannin, here you can taste the quality difference in the beef especially if you order it medium rare like I do. The garlic chive butter, bordelaise sauce, and aioli were all rich components that make this burger beyond decadent. A glass a red, this burger and a pile of truffle fries are everything I need to die happy in life. Tannin and I have been thick as thieves for about 10 years and I don't see that changing anytime soon, it's a step above when it comes to service, sommelier expertise, and food quality. Also, the price hasn't fluctuated too much in 10 years and that's a rarity. It's a diamond of a restaurant, nestled by some really cool lofts and small local businesses...one of those if you know you know places but, it's always lively. Come to be seen and come to eat drink and be merry
