Disappointing Stay - Falls Short of Expectations" We were very disappointed with our stay at Tanoa Waterfront. While advertised as a 4-star hotel, it felt more like a 2-star experience. Basic Amenities: Only one bed sheet was provided, which is unusual even in many 3-star hotels. Poor Hygiene: The bathroom had visible mold in the shower and around the soap dispenser, which was concerning. Lack of Utensils: The room was not adequately equipped with basic utensils. Soap Dispenser Issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was either not working or empty, forcing us to frequently exit the shower to use the dispenser in the vanity. This lack of attention to detail by the cleaning staff was disappointing. Suspicious Taxi Arrangements: We suspect collusion between taxi drivers and front desk staff. The hotel quoted us $25 for a short 10-minute taxi ride to the local hospital. We hailed a taxi outside the hotel and only paid $5. This felt like an attempt to overcharge tourists. Overall: This accommodation is more akin to a 2-star motel than a 4-star hotel. We were extremely disappointed with the lack of attention to detail and the apparent attempt to overcharge us for transportation.

Great accommodations and great staff. Best place to stay in Lautoka. Everyone is so friendly. A few nearby beaches. Great food in the hotel. Super clean. Staff is eager to please. Taxi's are always available and very reasonable. If I return, I will definitely stay there and no where else. Rates very reasonable.

I’m not a cleaner but expect cleanliness and hygiene. The place hasn’t been dusted or wiped between guests. Everything is old and paying 300 plus AuD. I did ask ask for room service and ordered meal, I have never tasted how gross food was. The phone isn’t wiped probably how many years. The photo doesn’t do justice of disgusting this place is. Very noisy, smell is horrible. Sadly I’m here for funeral and have no choice but to stay till I leave. Lot of junkies hang around the place. I have come here before but the standard has dropped to below 1 star.

Check in time is 2.00 pm, still waiting for seated at the reception as the rooms aren't ready (Time as of now is 2.50 pm. Their excuse - Full occupancy yesterday. 🙄) It's sveltering hot, we are after a long 4 hour drive, and not even a welcome drink offered. They asked us to wait at the restaurant, but it's pretty clear that there is no clear communication between restaurant staff and front desk staff. 3.00 pm - Placed a simple food order at 2.25 pm and had to follow up with them times to give me bill and the completed order. Restaurant was empty of customers at the time. Rooms still not ready. 3.15 pm - I went again upto the front desk and the staff member named Maureen was right in front. When I asked her where Precious was and why our rooms weren't ready (Precious did our check in), Maureen rudely snapped that the "shift has changed." (Basically trying to say that she doesn't give two hoots what happens as it isn't her problem.) Our payment was done at 3.25 pm and taken into the room only at 3.30 pm. In the meantime, the staff also had the nerve to be rude to my son, who was getting restless being in that lobby which is basically like a sauna in a hot oven. I believe her name is Christine or Christina. Despite all this, special mention goes out to Precious, the staff member who went above and beyond to serve us at the front desk. She sorted the mess up with the booking, went personally to check if our rooms were ready, and even apologized on behalf of her team member who was rude. Good Luck to your Precious!

If you don’t mind paying to have cockroaches crawling over your luggage, under your bed, or around your feet while you’re in the bathroom then by all means, book your stay at Tanoa Waterfront Hotel. In October 2024, we were in room 215 for 2 nights and killed more than a dozen cockroaches. They came out of the drawers, the drain, the wardrobe, etc. - a clear indication of an infestation. We never had food in the room. We spoke to staff and filled out a comment card but with the quantity of roaches and other reviewers mentioning “bugs”, staff and management seem to be aware but clearly have not bothered to do anything about it. We’ve travelled the gamut of deep jungles, remote beaches, and congested cities around the world and this was one of our worst experiences.

Frequents last fall at the hotel’s restaurant. Had a variety of dishes upon each visit with the Mrs. Really good food, we experienced beautiful service from the friendly f&b staff, namely Ana Vuetibau & the Rotuman gentleman serving there. Maleka! Totally recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Lautoka.
