Has a tasteful and whimsical collection of toys for all ages, jewelry, craft supplies, party decorations, and cards. Great spot for unique gifts. Has terrific birthday party supplies that are tasteful and not too precious. Also a good place to find goody bag stuffers that won’t get thrown away. Great silkscreened posters and prints, as well as a healthy selection of high end cards, many worth framing. Also lots of patches, pins, and temporary tattoos for the tween set. Good place to find small fun things to send to kids (especially daughters) at camp. And surprisingly good adult jewelry. Really a find for all ages. Never ceases to surprise.

The joke is that this is where hipsters buy things for their babies, but this store is pretty awesome. A slim selection of key vintage pieces and retro-reboots, its like Etsy exploded in a circus tent. Definitely pop in this shop with your little one, your old ones (I saw several delighted grandparents) or when you are in need of a gift for that friend of yours with a baby - you know the one.

Is this not the cutest store ever? It may be small but it has a great collection. There are vintage items (Kodak picture disk camera!!), books with city pride (This is San Francisco by Miroslav Sasek), fun toys, and a small selection of clothes. There is also a dolphin ride and 1cent M&M machine which my kid loved. Stop by for unique baby shower gift!

I always find good toys and gifts here, but also they are incredibly friendly and have no problem with my kids playing with everything before we buy something!

If you want to get a gift for a toddler, look no further! This is a very cute shop on Clement which helped me get a gift for my friend's son's 1st birthday. Those animal themed wall clocks were always in my mind to be bought for some kid and it happened this time! I got the last hanging piece of a fox with a tail for the clock handle and it would be such a great gift for the little one to grow up and learn to recognize animals! I was really amazed at how the gift got wrapped, with cute name tag and a fancy/neat thread to accentuate the brown liner - simply amazing! Service is really good and people are very friendly, paying so much attention to detail! Overall left the shop being so so happy!

Anyone who says "San Francisco is a dying city" should take a stroll down clement street.. they will very quickly see that there is a vibrant and thriving atmosphere filled with amazing food, interesting art, and where this review fits in, many retail shops filled with unparalleled quirky, quality and products willed with character and charm. Today's highlight: Tantrum! I do not have kids (nor will I have any, it's not in the cards for me by choice) but my sister has a 6mo baby who just came to visit for five days and after hearing about this shop, I stopped in to spoil my niece with some quality toys and sensory things. The shop was amazing, with so much to look through and many staff members to help with whatever questions one might have! Everything I picked up had a sturdy feeling to it, as well as clear tagging (about what was appropriate for what age) which was very helpful for me, as someone who knows just about nothing about what babies can have what toys... it must be said that this establishment is not inexpensive by any means. The least expensive item I bought was a decorative block letter (out of three) which were four dollars each. Fine for a decoration. But the actual toys, those were much much pricier, however the quality justifies the cost in my opinion. I'm happy to have shopped local, and even happier to have spoiled my niece, though she'll probably never know it Either way this shop is great, and if you're willing to shell out some extra $$ for some quality goods, it's worth going into! Or even if you're not and just want to look around, it's a feast for the eyes!

Any time i have to buy a gift for a kid i come to tantrum! They have the cutest selection of well made toys, arts and crafts (coloring books, stickers, pencils, crayons), stationary and cards, newborn gifts, and the list goes on! It's priced reasonably - on the higher end, but well worth it for the quality and selection. The service I've received here has always been outstanding! Each gift is individually wrapped, the child's name stamped on a tag & thoughtfully assembled. Love coming here and getting lost in the kid magic! It's a treat

Nice collection of goods! They carry Jellycats! Heaven for both kids and adults. Huge selection of cards ranging from birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, thank-yous, etc.. But yes, Jellycats! I have been a customer since 2015 and will keep coming back for my amuseables. They also deliver to your doorstep (check website though.)

Unusually charming children's toy store that appeals to those with an eye for design. As if a crew of art school kids grew up, got together and opened up a one of a kind toy store. It has a full wall of Jellycat plushies, if you are a fan (and they are adorable.). They've got a wall of artfully designed children's clocks and letterpress cards. The gifts for infants and small children are European feeling and special. They have nice brown paper wrap with retro stamps that spell out your recipients name, which makes a gift even more delightful to open. We started shopping here online, when only a giant red and white mushroom lamp would do (on a wish list) and they are made in Germany and not easy to come by. The online order came quickly during COVID, and it was fun to finally stop into the bricks and mortar store for this holiday season, and see how fanciful, clever and cute the shop is.

I ordered two Jellycat dragons from this shop and had a wonderful experience! The shipping was quick and they were packaged with care. Very happy with my dragons and I'll definitely be stopping by the store next time the kids and I are in San Francisco!

Small but well curated children's books, toys, and clothing - it has an old fashioned vintage appeal which I love. They even have some cute accessories (earrings, pins, necklaces) by the cash wrap and greeting cards for other gift giving ideas. After browsing around I landed on two onesies with adorable San Francisco graphics and a matching teddy bear plushie holding the Golden Gate bridge. The best part is that they offer complimentary gift wrap - simple and unique - and they'll hand stamp the gift tag with the name of your choice. At the time, the baby's name wasn't chosen yet so I just had the couple's names stamped. I love that I was able to get everything I needed in one place - gifts, card, wrapping - and it was a hit!

The owners curate an incredible selection for everyone I buy gifts for (children, adults, myself). I still remember how sad I was thinking they were a pop up!

Sweet old-fashioned toy shop with friendly staff. They sell the Jellycat brand of organic plush toys, though wish it was a bigger selection. A fun, tidy place to browse in a homey neighborhood with a weekly farmers market on Sunday.

Tantrum has some very high quality and unique items for children. Been in a few times mostly browsing because they have very cute selections. They have my favorite brand: jellycat. Super soft, cuddly and just so adorable. Today I went in to get a birthday gift for one of my pup's friends. We are attending their birthday pawty tomorrow and I wanted to get some last minute sparkle. And I also got something cute for myself (earrings) cuz why not. Friendly service and lovely.

Come here for a quick gift to bring a fancy hipster toy to your next young kids birthday party. Expect to pay high prices, but in return, you get fancy packaging that feels good in your hands, as you marvel at the extra 5 minute effort the clerk spends to wrap your gift and stamp it with custom letters with the name of the recipient. The store is a joy for parents, but honestly like any fancy boutique you get concerned bringing your little ones in tow. This is a high brow gift shop, not Toys R Us.

What a fun shop! Baby had his first toy store visit today at 14 months old. The store was nice and quiet at 10am when they opened and within 30 mins they had a lot of customers (it's the holiday season). Store owners knew their products well and was able to give recommendations based on what I was looking for. They have a lovely unique assortment of toys to choose from, which I appreciated. Check-out was quick and gift wrapping was a breeze. Gifts are already under the tree!

This is the first place I think of when I need a gift for kids. I know I'll always find something great. Needed a small gift for a 6 month old little girl on my way to a dinner with friends. I found the most adorable terrier/crinkle toy/unicorn plushie thing that was perfect and age appropriate. Got a second little musical wooden toy as well. I love the free gift wrap and they personalized it with a stamped name tag.

I saw this store in Cole Valley. Sadly, after covid Tantrum in Cole Valley closed down. This Tantrum in the Richmond is still open and offering a nice visit. They had an interesting showcase of stuffed animals and I wanted to check out the stuffed animals. It was really cute and good variety. I decided to get a small frog toy and not spend on a stuffed animal today. They said the stuffed animals are from France. Receipt by email. Other toys for show.

I was really excited to come here in person after following them online. We (me and my two toddlers) came in on a weekday morning and they weren't busy. I will say that they have a great selection of toys, clothes, books, etc. (this is the reason for 2 stars instead of 1). The kids were having a blast looking at all the toys. While we were browsing, another family was doing their transaction and the two ladies working were extremely friendly to them and baby-talking to the kid. We finally picked out some toys and checked out. The woman was quite cold to us. She ignored my toddler who quietly handed over his toys to be scanned (which I wouldn't usually care about - but she was overly nice to the other kid there so I took notice). She looked annoyed when I asked for a bag, asked for their hand-stamped name tags, and even more annoyed when I told her how to correctly spell my kid's name. The cashier woman never once showed basic manners - no thank you, or have a nice day - and didn't say a word to my two toddlers. Despite it being a children's toy store. And despite her gushing over another child minutes before. I'm not sure if this person was just having a bad day, but my children and I will not be supporting this children's store anymore due to the rude service we received.

My four year old was hesitant at first because she wanted to go to target. Tantrum is now her favorite toy store!

This store is such a special part of Clement St. and this neighborhood. There is such a whimsical, magical feel to it -- like the kind of toy store you see in a movie. The store carries a beautiful selection of high quality toys for kids of all ages, clothing, and party/holiday items. The selection of the store and the way it is displayed is so well curated. You'll find a wide collection of items that are unique and special. It's refreshing to find toys that inspire creativity and imagination. The store has items of varying price points for all budgets. During the holidays, this is the perfect place to shop local for gifts for all the children in your life. They even offer free + ridiculously cute gift wrapping!

This is hands down the best kids store in SF! If you like maileg, like we do then you are in for a treat! They literally have more maileg then we have seen anywhere.They have such an amazing selection of toys, crafts, clothes, and gifts that we make the trip from the east bay just to come here. The owner could not be nicer and we were to glad to support their business!

Great but pricey selection of unique toys. Terrible return policy. My son and I bought a poorly made (defective in my view) toy to for his friend's birthday. I noticed the defect as we were walking around the neighborhood and tried to return the toy for a refund literally 5 minutes after the purchase. They would not refund my money, although they offered a store credit. Just following up on my promise to the gentleman working the register to leave this review, which he didn't seem phased by.

Tantrum stores are currently closed due to COVID-19 shelter in place, but they are still delivering! I ordered a beautiful octopus puzzle (https://shoptantrum.com/products/octopus-puzzle) this morning around 1am, and they delivered it before noon today. What service! Their website is appropriately organized, which helped me easily find the arts and crafts section. We all know our kids need extra arts and crafts right now! I'm so happy to be able to support a local business while also receiving such great service and a high quality product. I love this store so much and will be placing more orders soon! P.S. They have free wrapping that can be personalized with the kid's name! I didn't do it because I want to conserve resources, but I've gotten bday gifts there in the past, and the wrapping is simple, elegant and cute

Tantrum has been my go-to for picking up in-person or sending children's gifts. They have such a special unique selection that you won't find at big chain stores like Target and such. Also they gift wrap for free and stamp the gift recipient's name on a gift tag. It's super cute!!

TANTRUM (all caps!) is an adorable little indie toy shop on Clement. They even carry Maileg Mice in a Matchbox here! I first learned about these from watching Chriselle Lim's videos, as her young daughter is absolutely infatuated with them, and has accumulated quite the collection. Ever since, I myself have become obsessed with finding some for my little baby niece. Unfortunately, they seem to be quite difficult to purchase in the States, and the few places that do stock them either jack up the prices to astronomical levels or have an extremely limited selection (e.g. Nordstrom). Luckily, I just happened to be casually strolling down Clement one fine evening, as I often do, and the eyecatching storefront caught my attention. I took a quick peek inside, having no idea what the type of business it was. Lo and behold, I finally found what I had long been in search of! Furthermore, prices are surprisingly reasonable, which is a rarity with local neighborhood establishments in the City. Although TANTRUM doesn't carry the entire line, there is more than enough variety to get your own collection up and running. In addition to Maileg, there is a plethora of other cutesy stuff for the young and young at heart alike. It's definitely worth a visit whether you've got little ones in your life or not!

Great stuff...spent an absurd amount of money for three families for Christmas and they couldn't be more disgusted by our request that they wrap the presents. Next time I should just buy online and avoid the grief.

Lots of cute and unique toys, cards, and fun things. My kids love riding the vintage mechanical seal at the front of the store (just 25 cents a ride). I also appreciate that they still request all customers wear a mask to protect the young kids enjoying the shop.

I use the phrase "I wish I were a kid" way too often but this toy store put me on overdrive. Luckily a lot of the lamps, jewelry and even stuffed animals are passable as adult decor - like a watermelon lamp and the rabbit with lifelike features. This is try old fashioned design and quality with modern whimsy. Products both from US designers and from Europe. The next time you need a present whether for a kid or adult check it out! TANTRUM is the cutest store you will ever walk into. Even the guys who walk into the store will pick up something that spark their attention. If you're going to a baby shower and kids birthday party, TANTRUM is the place to go to find the perfect present. You can find anything from wall clocks, kids tupperware, onesies, and sock toys. Plus, you can get your gift wrapped and personalized; it's so pretty you almost don't want to give it away!

Why yes, there are tons of really cute things in here for kids. Toys, cute little hats, dishes, retro thingies, art prints, stickers, and just overall cool stuff. But I'm here for me. I like to bask in all the cuteness and then make my way to the ink stamp selection so that I can go home and stamp things and make them cuter. If you like to cuten up the world by purchasing things that spark joy, this is a great place to visit.

This place is sooo cute and they have cool toys and trinkets! Never seen this store before so we decided to go inside to browse the trinkets before our dinner reservations at 6:30pm. Toys and trinkets vary from plushies to hair accessories to homemade jewelry. Definitely not your typical toy store. I was literally squealing over all the cute stuff here and ended up purchasing some plastic letters and string while my baby brother snagged a windup toy submarine.

We love to support a local business. During the entire SIP, my family purchased almost all their puzzles to keep ourselves busy. They have a great selection for all ages. The quality is outstanding. They also have a great collection of Maileg toys and my daughters love playing with the mice. Imaginary play has kept them busy. If you need to wrap a gift, they can help and they do a fantastic job! We usually order online and pick up at the store.

This is the BEST toy store in San Francisco! Pre Covid, they had a cool train set up for the little kids to play while you shop. The toys are quality - Jellycat, Janod etc. They also have wonderful puzzles and great assortment of local SF theme toys/clothing. What I really appreciate the most is the owner, Richard I requested a special quantity of a specific toy and he came through above and beyond expectations. And everything was gift wrapped so nicely - it just makes gift giving so much easier. Local businesses need our patronage so shop small, local and support Tantrum!

Toy delivery and free wrapping! They have an incredible selection and were a life saver for Christmas. I ran into the delivery guy and he was super nice too.

I rarely write reviews anymore, unless I see a small business that deserves a positive nod. It's HARD running a business, so I want to support when I can. The items that are curated for this shop are very unique; I'd like to call it retro cool. I mean who's ever heard of a stuffed avocado? But hey, that's what I bought today. I LOVE stuff like that. It's different, ya know? It's a tad pricey, but hey, it probably took them some work to find stuff that's so off the beaten track. I'm willing to pay for that. But here's some constructive criticism for the owner: I was the only one in there for a good few minutes, and I had to say hello to you first. When running a business, customer experience is EVERYTHING. You were on point with other things...you were friendly and knowledgeable, and provided awesome packaging of my purchase. But you didn't greet me. For many, that's a deal breaker and would have left without a word. I want you to succeed because you have a cool store and we could always use cool stores. I train all of my staff to greet everyone when they come in. People should always feel welcome. I'll be back for more gifts in the future. :-)

A hidden gem on clement street. Great selections of unique toys and clothing ranging from baby, toddlers to maybe around 10yrs old. Very nice staff working there, does a Greta job recommending toys. They also wraps your gifts and gives great attention to detail. Such a nice find. We will be back again for sure!

What a gem! If you don't like shopping, but would still like to find some unique gifts for the littles in your life, their website is perfect. They have a wide selection of toys and other adorable novelties, the photos and detailed description for each item made the selection process easy breezy, and they offer gift wrapping that has a nice eco/minimalist aesthetic. Plus, if you ever have time to check out their bio and/or IG you'll learn that Tantrum is ran by a very likable, musically-talented little family. It's hard to not root for them and see them do well.

I stopped bye with my daughter to check out this cute shop yesterday around 3:30pm (being specific so owner is aware of the unhelpful employee).....but was disappointed by the customer service. There was a blonde lady stamping bags, but didn't even acknowledge us and we were the only ones in the store!! Cute store, but I would much rather support a store with better customer service. It's also overpriced, so NO thanks Tantrum and please train your employees on good customer service. Was totally turned off by my experience yesterday that I will not be returning. Gave it two stars only because it's in the Richmond district.

A friend and I were walking around while waiting for a restaurant up the street to open, and wandered in to Tantrum. Neither of us has children, but we both work with kids, so we thought we'd take a peek. Um, wow. This place is everything. SUCH a beautifully curated, thoughtful, magical selection of pure joy. We chatted with the owner for a long time, which made the experience even better. A really nice guy who is invested in the community. Tantrum is good stuff and good people. Check it out.

This is a unique place, which is what brought me in. Also I like to support local businesses when I can. However when I need to return something, I expect to have my money returned to me. Know before you go if you purchase something and want to return it they will only give you store credit.

Cute little toy store on Clement! Stumbled in when browsing in the neighborhood. Lots of nice items, a blast to the past with Monchichi and Strawberry Shortcake!! A nice collection of children's plates in the back. Love the metal tea sets, but quite pricey. Will return. Love the store and the great service here!! Love the 2 monsters standing guard too!! ;))

Fantastic kids' store with unique and diverse items between toys, decorations, clothes.... and very "SF". Customer service is great. They individually wrapped and stamped six gifts with the utmost care! Highly recommend
