This review is long... but to sum it up: GO TO THIS RESTAURANT --- We stumbled upon this gem looking for something that could satisfy a vegetarian AND a carnivore. We love Mediterranean food at home (Los Angeles, CA) and we were excited to see a Portuguese spin on the dishes. However, we got so much more. We didn't have a reservation, (you should make one to ensure you get to taste the amazing flavors and plates offered) but - they still allowed us to sit at a bar in the middle of the small and cozy restaurant. We enjoyed quite a few dishes, but the Shakshuka was our favourite beyond a doubt (they have a vegetarian version and with meat) - the harmony of the flavors was like nothing we've had before. While waiting for our dishes to come to our table, we saw 2 chefs hard at work. We were lucky enough to meet them after dinner service and learn a little about them as well. They are from Israel and opened the restaurant together in June of 2017. They've put everything into Tantura. When they spoke you could see the love and passion they have when in the kitchen and when talking about recipes and food. When watching them cook it was evident that every plate was made fresh to order and you could see they were meticulously made with pride, dedication and lots of experience. The falafel was amazing, the house-bread (beer bread and pita) was warm, fresh and delicious. We would have been happy to just have that alone. We also enjoyed the smoked cauliflower that was truly in a category of its own - we've never had anything like it, GET IT ! It's creamy and crunchy and I want to eat it everyday. The serving staff was helpful on walking us through the menu, explaining the dishes, offering advice on our choices and we had a great time talking to them about travels, food and life (this is harder to find most times in Euro). We loved everything so much, and we know you will too - so go here, eat here, don't ever leave. (We actually went back the next day).
