5 cool businesses to explore at Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur - SilverKris

"This bright, high-ceilinged brunch spot on Jalan Kamunting is a favorite with the hip, brunch-loving crowd for its exposed brick, abundant natural light and locally sourced menu items drawn from the nearby wet market. Signature dishes include a shakshouka topped with lamb meatballs and an assortment of smoothie bowls, and the overall vibe emphasizes fresh, proudly local ingredients in a relaxed daytime setting." - Sharon Crowther

Tapestry Chow Kit is truly one of the best restaurants around. I’ve tried almost all the restaurants and cafés in this area, and this is definitely No. 1 for me. You can feel the effort not only in the beautifully done renovation, but more importantly in the food — which is absolutely superb and stands out among many cafés. Everything is consistently well-prepared and delicious, and it keeps me coming back every week. On top of that, the service team is amazing — attentive, warm, and clearly passionate about what they do. The overall experience is always pleasant and memorable. Highly recommended!

Overall, the portobello mushroom dish was extremely delicious — simple, yet very tasty. The creamy sriracha chicken was insanely good. The sriracha sauce itself was amazing, perfectly paired with crispy yet juicy chicken. At first glance, the chicken looked a bit dry when it arrived, but once I took a bite — wow — it was flavorful and definitely not dry at all. Another highlight was the magic mushroom sandwich. It comes in a big portion, topped with truffle sprinkles. Overall, the sandwich was good, but for a Malay palate, it might feel slightly less flavorful compared to the creamy sriracha chicken. That said, if you enjoy this type of taste profile, the magic mushroom sandwich is still a great choice. The staff here are extremely friendly, and the service is very fast — our food arrived at the table in less than 10 minutes. The environment is cozy, not crowded, aesthetically pleasing, and very chill. You can even enjoy your meal while watching the kitchen staff cook, which adds to the experience.

Came here today to celebrate Christmas with my ladies friends and we absolutely loved the vibe. The Christmas atmosphere at Tapestry Café is so warm and cosy — perfect for a catch-up and celebration. Food-wise, everything was really good. The salmon risotto was rich and comforting, definitely a standout. The Egg Drop 2.0 was surprisingly fluffy and light, and the mushroom soup paired with sourdough was so delicious and comforting — simple but done really well. We enjoyed every dish and had such a lovely time here. Highly recommended for good food, good company, and great festive vibes. 🎄✨

Tapestry is a grand and stylish café right in the heart of KL’s café street. Everything we ordered was genuinely good, but the standout for me was their toasted brioche with scrambled eggs — perfectly done and very satisfying. Their house-made cola was another highlight, refreshing and different from the usual café drinks. The avocado yogurt bowl was outstanding as well. The décor is elegant, modern, and extremely Instagrammable. I was also really impressed by the staff: they spoke well, understood the menu thoroughly, and offered thoughtful recommendations. I’m not sure how it compares to the countless other cafés in the area, but honestly, that doesn’t matter — I enjoyed my visit. Solid 8.5/10 from me.

Place is very aesthetic and definitely a great photo op. Menu was extensive with breakfast and all day options as well as pastries to sell. Arshad (attendant) was great and attentive, he provided options and ensured any precautions like allergies. Overall 9.5 only because I dont prefer lamb and accidentally got lamb so that was on me. I got a free cake to compensate although not necessary.

Cosy café already set with Christmas vibes. Nice and chill atmosphere. Coffee was good and served quickly. Cakes were good and you’ll be spoilt for choice. Food was a tad salty but still delicious — just wished it came out a little faster.

Perfect spot for a Sunday brunch! I came here during my visit to KL as I heard good things about this place. It was a bit busy on a Sunday as you might expect from a brunch spot, we had to queue for a while, but staff handled the waiting very nicely. Food and drinks are really good with a wide variety of options. Next time I'll have to try the cakes! I can warmly recommend this place if you're in the area!

it's my second time coming here. this cafe is like a little gem tucked into the city. the rustic brick walls, lush greenery and natural light make it both cozy and stylish. It’s the kind of place that feels equally perfect for a quiet coffee, a casual catching up or just soaking in the atmosphere. the service is warm and the attention to detail adds to the charm. I was thrilled to learn that by the end of September, they’ll also be opening for dinner until 10 pm. looking forward to enjoy this beautiful space in the evenings too!
