Google
In my opinion the best little takeout taqueria in Boston.. The food is always consistent. Their tacos are my go to. They never disappoint.. I've heard the burritos are also amazing. It's a great, local, family owned business.. The owner Ricky and his mom are really good people.. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s

Google
Maybe i ordered the wrong thing but I'm not sure I'll be back. I got the carne asada fries. I love carne asada fries!!! These SUCKED! First and foremost the meat was not carne asada and it had a pungent taste and smell of rosemary. Who the hell wants rosemary flavoured carne asada fries? I sure don't. Then they barely put any toppings. There wasn't enough cheese, guac or sour cream. I should be able to mix it and have a thin film on each fry or have enough for each bite. Overall a sore disappointment

Google
Food is very good and great portions. Had tacos al pastor and beef empanadas, both of which were made fresh to order. Lots of options to customize

Google
My husband and I love this place. After my brother who lives close by introduced us we've been hooked. Everything we've had has been great no complaints here we eating in and taken to go. We try to eat here at least once a week, if we go on vacation this is the first place we eat at when we come home.

Yesenia Ruiz

Google
Not authentic mexican food is basically a taco bell bar.

Google
Went here a few years ago and was just reading through the reviews to see if anything has changed. Seems not. Extremely rude staff. Not sure if certain looking customers get treated differently or if there is actually a friendly employee working there—can’t see why some get the super rude treatment and others friendly. I went there to order a burrito with my husband and the man working there never said a word to us. It was bizarre. He stood at the register with a rude look like how dare we come into his restaurant and we told him our order and handed our credit card. He never said a word. The burrito was nothing special and we never stepped foot in there again. We still think about the experience and cringe.

Google
This place is the 💣! Been going here for years, if your looking for authentic tacos and burritos this is the place to go, the food is always fresh and very tasty. It's family owned and that's why I love it!

Bigo Street

Google
The ground beef and chicken had no flavor. Cheap with the toppings. The staff was rude, never again my tacos are better. P.S if you ain’t sneezin it ain’t seasoned

Hugo A.

Yelp
Que puedo decir? No tenían salsa hecha ahi mismo. Las salsas q tenian eran de botellas de la tienda. Con eso te digo todo.

Rachel G.

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a little girl with my father when he would pick me up from school. I would always get two beef tacos, chips and salsa, and a mandarin Jarritos. I've became vegetarian for nine years, but recently started incorporating meat back into my diet. The first thing I craved was the beef tacos from here. the flavor is unmatched and I have yet to find another beef taco that's as delicious these. I've gotten to know the owner throughout the years, and he's a great guy. If you come to Dorchester and are looking for good eats at a good price, this is the place.

Kayla S.

Yelp
This is the best taco shop I've been too since I've moved home to Boston from Cali! Wow, my vegetarian bowl is so delicious and so fresh! New mega fan here!! I'll definitely be back, thank you!

Melena S.

Yelp
A small mom and pop shop in Dorchester! There're some benches along the wall if you're interested in dining in but it's very much a take out spot. Card minimum is $10, just so y'all know in advanced. I saw that they had carne asada fries and I haven't seen that on the East Coast so I was like, lemme check them out. I didn't have high hopes because who can really do it like California but they were GOOD! I was impressed. After taxes, it was probably around $10-12ish. I even saved some for later and it was still just as good. I would absolutely come back. If the carne asada fries are good, I bet their other items are hella good. I do wish I could've had them in a different container or the option to try it not in a styrofoam to go container because I think it woulda been even better!

Nix P.

Yelp
Had a steak burrito from here and hours later started developing symptoms of food poisoning. The order was already off with missing items but it wasn't a big deal since I ordered from here before. It was alright and hours later I started throwing up and had stomach pain. Last time eating here

Ryan S.

Yelp
Place rocks. Just went for the first time on my way home from work. Having pastor pork tacos. 4 of them for 10.70 Can't wait to go back. Rick and his buddy were great to me. Must go.

Tweet T.

Yelp
Loveee the carne asada fries here!!! Great small taco shop, always come back to Dorchester for this place

Seth M.

Yelp
Solid, reliable, and a choice favorite of people in the neighborhood. There's a reason why there's a line out the door during lunch. If I'm lucky I get to drop in here 3 or 4 times a week and I'm never disappointed. They've got a solid menu full of hearty, honest food that's made fresh, and they've got the best homemade chips I've ever had. There are negative reviews on Yelp about the service and they're completely bogus. Folks that work there are friendly, caring, and will strike up a conversation with you if you say hello. Once or twice you might see someone come in and say something really stupid, hold up the line, or come in 5 minutes after calling in 15 burritos expecting their order to be ready (seen it with my own eyes) and get a defensive attitude. The moral of the story is don't come to Dorchester if you're going to be a dummy. They're a family-run business that works really hard and they appreciate their customers.

Sean M.

Yelp
Best birria tacos I've ever had, you don't know tacos until you dunk them in the juices. The burritos here are great too.

Millie P.

Yelp
Delicious tacos + burritos - I eat here once, sometimes twice a week (every week. Seriously). I always call ahead and pick it up. They typically run out of food (usually chicken or other meats) around 530pm...closer to 5pm on a busy day, so my husband and I always try to call on the earlier side. My first encounter with the cashier was a bit awkward (he seemed frustrated), but I haven't experienced anything like that since.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
The picture does not do the burrito justice. My first visit was a shrimp burrito. My 2nd visit was a beef burrito. The beef was shredded and tender. It was just as wonderful as the shrimp burrito for my 1st visit that I had to post a review. My roommate had the ground beef taco salad with rice and beans on the side. The portion was generous and I was so jealous of her order. I can't wait to get it next time. Crazy times right now so we're so thankful they're open and super yummy!

Ansia F.

Yelp
I am just disappointed because when I order a grilled steak I expect to get that and not a thin piece of steak that was thrown into the oven and cooked to death. There was absolutely nothing grilled about that steak and not to mention I paid $17 for that plate Thank God they give you a little cup of hot sauce....it helped to give the food some flavor. All in all the meal was okay but definitely not worth $17 Never again......

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Best tacos and churros I've ever had in my lifetime!! Kind and friendly staff and very clean. Love this place!!

Sage W.

Yelp
This place has not-that-great of tacos/burritos. It is a good fix if you live in the area, but don't feel like traveling too far. The food would probably be 2.5 stars out of 5, but what really gives it a 1-star is how quickly it runs out of food. For a place that allegedly stays open until 7:30pm, to consistently run out of food by 5:00pm is ridiculous. So yeah, between whenever it opens and maybe 3pm, you can get 2.5 star food, but after 5:00pm, I hope your face is fixed for some hamburger burrito.

Johnny T.

Yelp
This place would be good if you replaced the staff. Otherwise I get big masshole energy every single time I come here.

s k.

Yelp
Food is great but not the best customer service. One of the guys that works the front can be very rude. The first time I chalked it up to a bad day, but it's now happened a couple of times and has also been noted in reviews on other platforms. Again, the food is great and worth dealing with him for the little interaction you'll have with him.

Donald A.

Yelp
Didn't expect it but, Taqueria Casa Real was certainly cool. It's in a great location and we were really pleased with our experience. Everything I have ordered has been consistent. It's good & fresh. The team is absolutely a highlight of this place because they are always quick, polite, and provide service with a smile! It couldn't be more perfect.

Alicia G.

Yelp
I do really like their food and their salsa is amazing! But there's a terrible downside which is the service!! The people who work here are rude!! Even when you're trying to give them more business they are just rude and become cocky and not pleasant. Honestly, they could be great if their staff was waaaay nicer!!! You would expect them to do something about it but doesn't seem like they care.. which just goes to why their staff is the way they are!

D K.

Yelp
Go here almost every other day! The best, I recommend this place to all my friends and coworkers. Clean and fresh food. Family-owned, well mannered, and respectful owners and works.

Adrian C.

Yelp
My go to place. Always friendly and good food. I go there at least once a week and I can either take out or eat there and chat with the people who work there that are very friendly . Pork tostadas are my favorite

Christy J.

Yelp
So I come to order and tell the man no sour cream, no guac and no salsa on my burrito. I watched them make it and the guy starts to pour sour cream on the burrito, I am allergic to sour cream so I said "excuse me I said no sour cream" he tells me he didn't hear that which is fine, it could have been a misunderstanding BUT then he proceeds to tell me "well who's fault is that not mine ... YOURS" and that I have to pay for both of them if he makes it over and then starts to speak in Spanish to the guy making the burrito and tells him " this B*tch doesn't know what she wants no sour cream on this one" as if I don't speak Spanish! Overall horrible customer service! How do you call your customer a B*TCH!?!!!

Guy F.

Yelp
Horrible Food- Everything taste like it comes from a can or the freezer. The staff is surly and lethargic. It's a shame that this is the only Mexican place in the immediate area.

Kristin W.

Yelp
I had never been here before, but I was craving a burrito so I figured I'd stop by! The food was pretty good! I ordered a burrito with pork, and it was very large and filling. It also came with chips and salsa (the salsa was really good), which I couldn't eat much of because I wanted to save myself for the burrito. I'd say the burrito was better than average but not mind blowing. It was pretty well seasoned, but honestly nothing I've never had before. The price was good though, so I'd go back if I wanted something a little more authentic than the usual Chipotle. I'd also be interested to see how the tacos and quesadillas are.

Reggie W.

Yelp
Really good burritos. My favorite in the area, however the service can be bad depending on how the guy at cash register feels

Miranda S.

Yelp
Ok Mexican food. The staff isn't the nicest though. Like at all. I also feel like I can make some of the menu items better myself (ex: the chicken tacos). Nothing I've ordered has blown me away. What keeps me coming here occasionally is that they cover all your basics for Mexican food. I only go here if I'm really hungry, I'm in the mood for Mexican, and don't feel like walking far.

Cabo V.

Yelp
The two males working here are worthless when customer service is required. By Worthless i mean, they will bleed this place of its potential earnings. Don't ask them any questions about the menu items that are similar but may have some added mixture to garner a higher price. They ran out of shrimp at 13:00 hours, and their menu says they close at 20:00. My order of beef taco was filled dry chicken and no sauce to boost its taste. Maybe they ran out of beef, too. I did order two pulled pork tacos that i never received. Anyone may experience outstanding service here and enjoy their food. However, be prepared to be treated as I was. I was nice, quite, and pleasant with them. I know there are other places that mimic Mexican food and will be glad to have my "mula" during these difficult days. "Hasta la vista. Baby."

Daniel M.

Yelp
If you are in a great mood having a great day, but you are just trying to ruin everything, this is the PERFECT PLACE FOR YOU. It all started with a colleague, he ordered me the "carnitas over fries". I liked it so I went in a couple of days after and tried ordering it myself; the man at the register yelled " It will take 20 min to be done, are you sure you want that?" I was like, yea no rush and no prob at all (I felt like I had to apologize for the inconvenience you know). So some time after that, I decided to have the "carnitas over fries" again, but I thought, maybe I should call my order and it will just make things easier for them, SILLY ME. So I called and the guy once again yelled at me saying " Im not sure if we have fries and right now I have a big line here, I don't have time to check, and just hang up on me" Listen, I have worked at restaurants before and maybe better than most people I know how frustrating and aggravating it can be sometimes, and some costumers are just miserably trying to make other people miserable as well. So I understand the stress!!!! I didn't care too much, they were busy, I went somewhere else but I wasn't upset. But finally TODAY (Feb 17 2016) I JUST HAD ENOUGH!!! I left my office, located only 5min away and decided to order something else, so maybe it wouldn't cause any problems this time. I walked in at 11:45 am, the place was empty, there were two people prepping in the kitchen and the mean guy at the register (the one who always yells at me). As I entered the place, the mean guy just gave me a dirty look and kept doing whatever he was doing at the register. I was a little uncomfortable so I started looking at the menu, the chairs, the floor (I knew I was gonna order a beef burrito - very popular, they will prob have it all set to go I thought), I was just waiting for the guy to maybe say "Hi, can I help you ?" He didn't say anything, so I approached and tried to start the conversation: poor me: - "Hi buddy, how's it going? Do you have any beef ready yet? " He made a disgusted face and pointed at their menu board, saying... mean guy - " that is what we have". poor me - oh sure... But is the beef all set? I know its early (11:45???) and Im just trying to order something easy. Pointing at their prep station, he started YELLING... mean guy - " Can't you see??? This is what we have, I don't understand what kind of STUPID FUCKING QUESTION that is. I swear I was in COMPLETE SHOCK!!!! I was walking out and he kept yelling and cursing me. COOOOME ON!!! REALLY???? After reading the other reviews I found out he is just a sad mean guy who hates his job and does that to everybody!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! I should have went to KFC Eek:p

Nicole P.

Yelp
Really small hole in the wall - the sign outside doesn't even say the restaurant name! Very authentic and quick service. Not a lot of room to eat in shop and not sure if they deliver so a good place to grab and go. Heard owner on the phone saying they run out of food at a different time every day so probably a good idea to get there early!

Thiago H.

Yelp
Great authentic tacos, in my opinion beats any taco place in Boston. You have to try the empanadas, they are the Bomb

Marianne M.

Yelp
I love this place. Authentic food. Great service. If I could eat there every day I would

Julie M.

Yelp
Love the food! Absolutely love their burritos. However, the man at the front, who answers the calls is SO rude. I am a paying customer and do not deserve the attitude when I'm placing an order. He makes it hard to return.

Pablo V.

Yelp
Definitely recommend this place! Being from Southern California where I got to eat authentic Mexican food, this is the closest thing to the real thing. (At least in this area). I've looked around quite a bit and been disappointed, Casa Real keeps it real!!

Tidus G.

Yelp
This food was amazing and it reminded me of a south Florida burrito, the kind I missed. I can't wait to go back already! I got a chicken burrito and my girlfriend got a chicken enchilada and we didn't expect too much besides a good meal and we were blown away.

Meaghen K.

Yelp
So I started with some serious beef with this place and understand the other reviews regarding the lack of friendliness. I tried this place twice before having a successful trip (once they were closed early when I called and another they told me they ran out of food...?) That said, third time is a charm and now this place is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Every time I come in everyone is super friendly and the food is unreal. Sometimes people have an off day, or maybe just one of their employees is a bit grumpy, either way I have not encountered that individual since, and if I did, the food is definitely worth a little unfriendliness. Shrimp burrito with everything on it, just do it. The tacos are wicked good though too! Everything I've had is so fresh and delicious I can't imagine there's something bad you could order here.

Camille D.

Yelp
My friend brought me a watermelon juice from this place recently, and it was delicious. So I stopped in for the first time on Wednesday, bringing my 24-oz ball jar as I usually do to save on plastic waste. As soon as I walked in, the vibe felt weird--definitely not friendly. A man got up from a table, scowling, to take my order. (Maybe it was going be a bad interaction from the get-go because I'd interrupted his lunch?) When I explained that I wanted to use my jar to save a cup, he told me he would only give me the juice in a plastic cup. He didn't actually have a reason. "It's a wasteful country. Deal with it." I should have just left, but it was just too incomprehensible to me that someone working in customer service could be so abominably rude. I tried to reason with him and he got even MORE hostile. He actually stalked to the back of the kitchen area, sat down on a crate, and started ranting about how everyone thinks he's an a**hole. The whole situation was completely insane. I can't imagine the food is anywhere near awesome enough for customers to accept this kind of behavior. He doesn't WANT your business. A very unhappy person indeed, and clearly in the wrong line of work.

Sina S.

Yelp
I had a nice burrito for my lunch. First time trying Mexican food. Probably going soon for a taco too.

Trevor H.

Yelp
Very simple and best burritos you can find. Steak, chicken, and pork are all great. I think the tortillas can change from time to time depending on what they have and run out of but doesn't make much of a difference. No more jalapeño poppers which is sad but also doesn't matter. Super fresh tacos. Usually busy, I recommend calling your order in.

Des B.

Yelp
I've been here 3 times- the guy who runs the register is super rude! He acts like I killed his best friend. I remember the last time I came in, I had a simple request and he literally barked at me- it was a shame I had already paid for my order because I would have walked out right then and there. Even if the food was 4 star quality (which it is not- it's decent, not delicious, not dreadful), treating people with respect is part of the deal. After all, we are choosing YOU out of a multitude of options we have at our fingertips. The sad thing is, I think he is the owner. I do hope he learns his lesson before it's too late. Even though I am craving Mexican food and this is the closest place within walking distance, I am about to drive across town to give my money to someone else.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Decent burritos in Boston area! Hoo-ray! Tastes like Mexican food even! Wow! Seriously, good deal, tastes nice, what's not to like?

David N.

Yelp
I've been here twice and both times it was okay. Mexican food taste the same if it's beans and rice, but the marination of the meats has to be good. Anyways first time I came in the owner was giving us an attitude but lightened up and started being friendly. Second time was a couple days ago, he just grilled at us while the other employee took our order. When we got our food we tried to find napkins but it was on another table. He told us to return the napkins where we got them. You only have 4-5 tables with 1-2 napkin dispensers...but his manner was just rude. It's like he demanded us to do it because he hates his life. You suck. I know your reading this, because all the negative reviews are about you.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
Came here after work with some coworkers. We arrived as a huge group around 12:00 on Thursday and luckily there was no one there yet. They only had two people working there at the time so were quickly swamped with orders. They eventually had to stop taking orders so that both people could cook. I ordered a beef quesadilla with everything. It was well made and came with the sour cream and salsa on the side. It's definitely great for something quick. There are not many table seating here so try to take out if possible.

Sarah A.

Yelp
Want some Mexican with a side of sass? This place delivers. The first time I came in here I tried ordering the fish tacos but they are like ohhhh those are going to take a really long time to make, why don't you order something else instead. Um, okay. I was with other people and didn't want to hold everyone up waiting for fish tacos, but that was just kind of off putting to me. They also have an obnoxious credit card minimum, which, as I've ranted about here before is a violation of their credit card agreements with all the major credit card companies. If you're going to take credit cards, you must accept card payments in any amount. The food is decent, I would not go out of my way. Prices are great. My favorite thing here are the tostones. The portion is huge and they are well prepared. Take your order to go- the atmosphere inside is kind of depressing and crowded.

Leslie V.

Yelp
The reason they get a one star is because of service. The food is great but the service is horrible. We are a business near them and our staff orders all the time and each time they complain about something that we order. I just ordered Fish Tacos and the owner was rude and told me that it's complicated to make...I said it's on your menu, his response "but I don't have to make it." my response is "then take it off your menu!". omg, this will be the last time I order from there. Service is a must and they clearly don't have it since the owner himself is a pain why should the other be nice??? Leslie :(

Danny N.

Yelp
This place have massive horrible service. Everyone is entitle to have bad days but this place has everyday. No more. We are going to chipotle. Big time attitude in a service industry.

Chad S.

Yelp
This is the second time I've eaten here! Today was really disappointing. The food was OK. Ordered a beef taco and chicken quesadilla for lunch. The taco tasted stale and the meat was dripping in yellow/orange grease-so much so that it leaked through the aluminum foil and into the brown bag! Quesadilla was average! But the reason I give this place one star-the service! The gentlemen who runs the register is so RUDE. I was going to order a enchilada combo and asked for a beef chicken and cheese combo for the three . I was told that's not possible! Any place I've been it's never been a issue. I even offered to pay more! He responded NO IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN! I moved on and ordered my above mentioned items! When my order came up he shoved it all in the bag and SHOVED IT Across the counter at me! RUDE! I will think twice about eating here again! The pizza place that serves sandwiches next door will have my business next time!

Osamede O.

Yelp
To begin with, I'm from California so my idea of good Mexican food is skewed. What they serve here, is good Mexican food! Best spot I have been to outside of California and Mexico. Authentic as well. The spot doesn't look the best, although in a very nice part of Dorchester on the border of Southie. Looking behind the counter, I was reminded that Boston food inspectors probably rarely visit restaurants. 3 guys that seemed like brothers were working everything. The focus they put into all the food was being made, was great to see. One of them was making Carne Asada fries, which looked amazing, and it seemed like he was trying to create art with the sour cream topping. I ordered a shrimp burrito. My girlfriend ordered a ground beef taco, and the enchiladas. She loved the enchiladas because they put so much cheese on it. Even underneath the cheese, the authentic taste of the filing was delicious. Perfect mix of onion, peppers, and garlic. My girlfriend is not a fan of spicy things, and said the sauce was just perfect. As for the taco, it didn't make it home for me to taste, she devoured it in the car while I was driving. Her silence made me assume it was great. My shrimp burrito was great. A lot of times you either get a good burrito with little shrimp, or a lot of shrimp with a subpar burrito. This burrito was best of both worlds. Well seasoned shrimp throughout the whole burrito, not compartmentalized. The rice and beans, were well made and seasoned and raised the taste of the burrito, instead of simply act like a filler. I was surprisingly impressed by this spot. Lived near it for years, but never wanted to stop by it. My loss. It is officially one of my regular spots.

Mairin F.

Yelp
Food is ok but the owner is grumpy as hell. Dorchester needs another mexican place so we don't have to always go here when we want a burrito.

Rob S.

Yelp
I'm not going in here to make friends. I'm not going in here to apply for a job. I'm not going in here to read the various daily newspapers they have lying around or to watch FOX25 on a tv the size of my roommate's dog. I'm here to eat Mexican food the way it should be eaten. Sloppy and delicious. This place is a real spot to chow down when you wanna eat Mexican or Guatemalan food. Grab a horchata while you're at it and swing by my apartment, I live viciously close to this place. I'm taking a star away because they aren't open on Sunday. Anyways, if they want that elusive 5th star all they gotta do is go against the rules a little bit and fire up the ovens on the Lord's day of rest and we'll see what we can do. And is someone complaining about sauce leaking out of the foil wrapper? C'mon man. This ain't the Ritz!

Scott W.

Yelp
The beef burritos here are the bomb. The fried sweet plantains are yummy. The Tacos Flutas are delicious too. They make smoothie shakes and have a variety of things to eat for all south of the border tastes. The prices are good with burritos (that are huge BTW) $5.75. They also have combo specials that have rice, beans and salad that go for roughly 8 bucks. This is also the place to go if you like men in uniform because every time I go here I see at least 3-5 Boston Police Officers getting dinner. It is lacking 5 stars because it closes at 8:30 and is totally closed on Sundays. Don't they realize that people need horchata and fajitas on Sundays?
