The best taco shop in Long Beach. Ive gone to this one many times and it never let's me down. I got an asada cali burrito and added guac and pico for less than $14. It is cash only but they do have an atm inside the seating area. Ive never had a complaint about the food that they serve. The service is always quick and friendly. They do get busy because they are so good but I dont mind waiting because I know the food never disappoints! Keep serving delicious food like this! Thank you. 🙏🏿🙌🏿🤤

Prices are decent, asada was flavorful. We got asada fries, super nachos and a regular burrito. Nachos had too much beans for my liking and made the chips soggy quickly. Place is tiny but inviting. Better than other places in the surrounding area

THIS place that I lived down across Redondo from, is the measuring stick I use for any and all tacos, I've had to endure here in the MidWest. Some have some especially close, but nowhere close to the authentic taste of the PERFECT taco/burrito/etc. How we MISS YOU and will always plan to visit when we make it back to Long Beach. ❤️ I lived in that apartment for 14 years, would walk my dogs to get food, and only once did I ever have to explain thoroughly what I was looking for. They knew me by face, and always knew it was either Lengua or Al Pastor burritos. I truly hope you never close, and if you do, pass it down through family.

Been here a few times in 15 years of living in LB and every time I come here i’m reminded of why I don’t come regularly. Expect to wait over an hour for your food. When it finally does come out it’s soggy and mid. This recent time I waited over an hour for Asada Fries, dont know why it would take that long. They literally put out 1 order every 10 minutes.

Amazing meat plates and tacos! The adobada is to die for and their rice is just perfect. I’ve been coming here from over a decade and they never seem to disappoint. A little on the pricey side but great quality food and flavor so it’s worth it

Love coming to this place but their customer service lacks!!! I moved away and was in the area and tried calling and calling and calling to place an order and no one ever answered. I probably called over 15 times and no one ever answered. Huge disappointment so I decided not to come. Not the first time that they haven’t answered their phone. Too bad would have ordered for a whole family of 8 and they would have made some moneissss. Wish they actually took calls of orders. Again. Big disappointment they can’t just answer their phone.

Food is always great, highly recommend it!! Only mishap I've had here was when I ordered chicken tacos for my daughter and they gave me asada fries, didn't noticed until I got home . My daughter was happy regardless.

The wet burritos are really good! In my opinion, their Carne Asada wet burritos are great!

We were recommended Taqueria La Mexicana and decided to try it out. We found nearby street parking then placed our order at the window (cash only, there is an ATM indoors if needed). We then entered into the covered table area to grab a seat and wait for our food. We ordered two tortas, coctel de camarones, and a sope. The had horchata but all the rest of the drinks were canned/bottled. Prices were moderate. As for the food, everything was authentic and tasty, though I wish they had cuts like tripa. Overall, no complaints for a no-frills Mexican meal.

If you're looking for the ultimate Cali burrito experience, Taqueria La Mexicana is where it's at. I've had my fair share of burritos, and this place seriously knocks it out of the park every single time. Their Cali burrito is next-level--perfectly grilled, stuffed to the brim, and packed with flavor. The carne asada is always juicy and tender, and the fries inside? Crispy and golden, not soggy like at some other spots. Add in the melty cheese and sour cream and it's a total flavor bomb. The vibe is super chill, and the staff is friendly. If you're a Cali burrito fan or just love Mexican food done right--this is the place to go. 10/10, highly recommend!

Very disappointed. As a Mexican, this food was bland. I'm offended. Meat had no flavor. Rice was dull, wet burrito was dry. The guacamole tastes like it was sitting outside . Who puts American cheese over a Sope? Cmon now. Chips are stale. Nothing about the food was good except the bag of Ruffles I bought from 7-11. The place seems to get a lot of customers. But you want better Mexican food ? Try Costa Azul on 17th street in Santa Ana . The one next to the Pizza Hut. The salsas are from days before. You can literally taste days of stored food. Sorry but zero Stars. I've yet to find good Mexican food in Long Beach again.

I've been coming here for 9 years and it never disappoints. They're fast, the food is always presented well, tastes fresh and overall delicious. I love classic Mexican food, and the prices have stayed pretty much the same! You can't say that for a lot of places! I got the 3 taco plate with rice and beans. Delicious. Fresh shredded chicken, beans and rice tasted good. I got a horchata, which comes bottled now, and it's the real deal cinnamon and sugar thing. Really glad this place is still here and hope it's here for a long, long time. Heads up It's cash only but they have an ATM :) They have an indoor shaded seating area with several tables and chairs decorated with local stickers giving it a good neighborhood vibe. Thanks guys! Will be back soon.

Best street tacos in LB! Quality is the meat. Parking might be tricky but worth it! Check out this local gem in LB on 4th St.

I love me some delicious street tacos and this spot is no exception. Right off the corner of 4th street in a mostly residential area, it's an unassuming spot with no frills that knows flavor! Service is quick as you order at the counter facing the street, then you can go and wait in their semi-indoor space to pick up your order. I got three tacos (no plate, just a la carte) for $2.50 ea: lengua, al pastor, and asada. Lengua (tongue) is always my favorite but can be rare to find, so I was super happy to find this here! Also they didn't charge extra for them - win! The lengua taco was perfect, and the sauces made it extra flavorful. Al Pastor and Asada were both tasty as well. I could keep using their red sauce as it had a little sweetness and smokiness to its spice. I'd definitely come back again - and just remember to bring cash!

This place is an LB staple. I feel bad giving them any review short of amazing, but I know my duty as a serious Yelper and so I have to be honest. I got an Asada burrito with horchata. The burrito was good but so much citrus! Tasted like I was biting into a damn lime. Also make sure u bring cash. They have an atm if you're forgetful thankfully. The horchata tasted chalky. Also it's in a bottle which I thought was... unusual. I shook it up but it was just kinda weird- and I love a good horchata. To each their own I suppose. But I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were having an off day. Because usually their food is above par. Still, I would go back- maybe next time I'll just order a Squirt or something else instead. Mamma M got the ceviche and she said it was so good- must have been because she didn't share!!! I still recommend it for a quick, comforting meal.

I repaid a visit to one of Long Beach's best hole in the walls that serves Mexican food; Taqueria La Mexicana. This visit I decided to opt for their Asada Fries which is fairly priced at around $13. My boyfriend ordered his usual Cali Burrito which is ultimately the same ordeal wrapped in a tortilla ( minus the guac). I placed a phone order and waited about 15 minutes to which I paid for my order at their little window and received my food, here's my take: Upon opening my box I was surprised at the hefty portion of asada fries which could easily be shared between two hungry individuals. The asada fries were honestly on point!! The carne asada this visit was a little saltier than usual but the overall flavor of all the condiments combined was delicious and tasted authentic for Mexican cuisine standards. I love asada fries and La Taqueria Mexicana serves up some bomb asada fries! I should note this establishment is cash only and although they have a small seating area with about two tables it's mostly a grab and go type of place. All in all I recommend La Taqueria Mexicana to anyone in the area looking for some good Mexican food. Give their asada fries a shot and support your local businesses! :)

Came here on a Friday afternoon after lunch time after stumbling upon it while hungrily searching up Yelp on what to eat haha glad it recommended taqueria! Environment - your lovely hole in the wall on 4th street. Difficult to find parking if during rush hour or busy, but worth your time if you come. You order at a window and it seems like they have a lot repeat customers since they've been opened over 15 years ago. There were a few spots to sit but decided to take it to go and eat in the car. Service - one person in front of me before I was able to order and waited approximate 15 mins for my order. Wish it was faster but it was worth the wait. Food - cash only so make sure you bring at least $20 for two people haha I got the three taco plate and added one additional taco. There was a lot of meat piled on and the asada had great flavor , so did the pastor! It came with rice and bean (thought the beans were nicely seasoned, not too salt, and not too lumpy lol). All in all, would make it a point to come here again the next time I'm in the area :)

I come here all the time , this place is so good that Even Hole mole had to setup a spot nearby mooching off customers... I do not write bad reviews but this will be the first. I asked the guy taking the order if they had called my number just to see where the line was at or if I missed my number. He told me there's two orders ahead of me. After asking him I overheard him say pinche Gaborone in Spanish out loud. Which took me by surprise. It was uncalled for and very unprofessional. On top of that it's been four orders and still didn't get my order yet, which was only a burrito. I ordered since 710 and it is now 7:50. Unfortunately this will be my last time supporting this business.

This place is very plain and rustic looking. Don't let it fool you, their food is DELICIOUS!!! It's a cash only business. They have some basic chairs and tables to sit outside if you want but it's an eatery for to go orders only.

The best taqueria I've had in Long Beach the past year living here! The regular carne asada burritos are delicious. The asada is so well seasoned and always cooked to perfection. The chicken is also really tasty! Tried the enchiladas recently and was pleasantly surprised. You can't go wrong with any of their salsas. Must try this place! Cash only.

This place is bomb delicious!! Got the taco plate (3 tacos w/beens & rice). Typically not a huge fan of beans/rice but the way they prepared em here is amazing. Tacos were amazing too! Can't wait to try one of their burritos. Folks there are friendly too. Perfect spot for grabbing food to go and taking it to the beach/park for a picnic. Reasons why I'm not giving them 5 stars: wish they took cash, wish they had better indoor seating (can get cold in their dining area), & wish their sides of hot sauces were bigger (or had a hot sauce bar).

CASH ONLY. :) This is a hole in the wall Mexican spot in Long Beach, California. I stumbled upon it when I was driving home from Beach volleyball. And I was starvvvvvingggg and didn't want to cook. There were around 15 people waiting outside for their food when I arrived. I ordered the meat plate which consists of rice, beans your choice of protein (I got chicken) and a few chips. I ordered chips and salsa on the side. The food was very delicious, but definitely needed a kick (they give you salsa on the side). The tortilla chips are some of the best I've everrrrrrr had. The salsa was really good too. The portions are large and I couldn't finish the whole plate. The only downside and why I removed one star is because it took forever to get my food. I must've waited there like 40 minutes, this was on a Sunday evening, so that's probably why it was so busy. There is street parking which is convenient and there's three or four tables inside the establishment, but this is definitely more of a grab and go spot. Definitely will be coming back though! Seems like it's popular among the locals.

Taqueria La Mexicana is a long standing local Long Beach favorite, offering a diverse menu of burritos, tacos, tostadas, tortas, etc. Prices are reasonable, portions are large. They are a walk up window joint, but have a small enclosed area off to the side where you can sit down and eat. This area also houses an ATM; they are cash only. My California Burrito was good, but not great. The beans and rice were flavorful. I loved the fresh guacamole, and wished there was more of it. The super peppery salsa was the star of the show, adding a bright creeping heat to every bite. Sadly, the fries were dry and overcooked, tasting of stale oil. I would not get this again. The people working were so genuinely friendly that it really brightened my day. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. 6/10.

I was a customer for many years to this location. They constantly make mistakes on the orders and when I call them on the phone they tell me to drive back so they can fix their mistakes. So I would end up eating what they gave me. And this happened on several occasions. Now I check my orders before I leave. Sadly they made a mistake on my order. When I told them they made a mistake the arrogant cashier told me I did not order that or that it was me that had made a mistake. Wow to tell your customer "no you made the mistake" I know what i wanted to eat and thats what i ordered. How about taking ownership of your mistakes? How about stop being conceited and pay attention to what your customers needs and give them what they ordered? And to be honest. The food is not that great and overpriced. The asada meet is over salted always. They take too long to give you, your order. They are overpriced and only take cash. You would be better to go to an actual restaurant.

I love a good carne asada Torta and Taqueria La Mex has a bomb Ass Carne Asada Tort! From the bread to the flavorful meat, it's so good!! I've also tried the asada fries, carnitas tacos and taquitos- all were delicious! I'm glad to have been introduced to this spot by a local and highly recommend them to anyone looking for some good inexpensive grub! Heads up tho, they're cash only!

The torta al pastor is to die for from here. For under $10 you can get a huge portion of meat and avocado which would normally cost a lot more nowadays. The bread is slightly toasted but soft on the inside, and it always tastes fresh. The torta is so good!!

I had a yelp perk to pick up a couple streets down. To be honest this wasn't an intended spot to eat at but pulling up my bookmarks it was the closest. I thought this would be another Alfredo's/Alberto's type taco spot but man o man it is NOT! My daughter didn't want to get anything cuz she thought the same. I made her get something for later though. She opted for the carne asada burrito and I got the lengua. Their carne asada is very flavorful. Their burritos has the perfect ratio of rice, meat and protein. The lengua was tender with just the right amount of salt. I honestly was blown away of how yummy everything was! Can't wait to come back, now I understand why there was a line.

First off, I don't understand why this place has a 4 star. This place is like eating at your abuela's house. I had the taquito plate. It was amazing. Highly recommended.

$2.50 street tacos. Cash only!! I got steak, Al pastor, pork Chile verde, and beef tongue. All of them are so good! I hate corn tortillas normally but these were the exception. It was quick and easy to order then receive food. Highly recommend. They packed up sauce and limes for me too

Great food but dang they are slow AF! Waited close to 2 hours an order of Nachos and a burrito. Seriously!! If I had known it would be that long of a wait I would have gone somewhere else. So warning if you want a quick bite go elsewhere because the wait for food here is longer than a restaurant standard of 30mins

It's all in the tortillas, beans and meat quality. One of the ONLY carne asada burritos that needs no lime or hot sauce. Get without rice, trust me. They're always slammed but are ALWAYS friendly. Cash only so bring enough to tip these guys!

This has been my go to spot for YEARS to get a carne asada burrito! It is DELICIOUS and ALWAYS consistent. I've had almost everything on the menu and nothing disappoints but their burritos just HIT THE SPOT. Total Long Beach staple that must be protected at all costs lol The staff is always super cool and super friendly. Very accommodating and will always hook you up with extra salsas with you pick up your order. Their green salsa is some of the best in business, and I'm a green salsa snob. It's just a tiny little corner spot that takes cash only, some outdoor seating, but take your food to go and enjoy it at home. It STAYS hot! Love this place so much. Thank you guys!

Well what can I say about this place that regulars don't already say. This place is wonderful. The meat is seasoned so perfectly a single bite brought a tear to my eye. Yum yum yum! I will say u might have circle the block or park illegally, but a parking ticket is worth it. Send me the bill!!!!!!! (Just kidding). I had two carne Asada tacos, and a ceviche. If I was on death row this would be my last meal, maybe a burrito and a crisp coke. The food is so good your not gonna wanna share. Also bring cash and tip these works good!

Nachos... please check them before you buy them... you get 6 to 10 chips under the good stuff but they get very soggy where you can't eat them and they don't give you extra around to pick up you meat like nachos should be. Beside they've got expensive you figure they would give them to you a little decent. I always manage my food even if they mess it up but not this time plus I called and they didn't care

It took 45 minutes to get 4 street tacos. Don't think it should be taking that long for the simplest of foods.

Excellent food at a reasonable price. They're across the street from me and it's hard for me not to go there on a daily basis, lol. Favorite is the asada burrito with everything and two chile Serrano. Yummy

Best Mexican food in Long Beach . I love the carne asade tacos . Make sure you get with Cilantro and onion and they also have the best salsa Verda also they have the best burrito which is the California burrito French fries on a carne asada burrito is delicious ! Don't forget green salsa Verda

I have been coming here since 2007. I live 3.5 hours away and it still doesn't disappoint. Favorite asada taco I have had. The meat flavor is just on point. Highly recommend. Prices are great. Easy chill spot. Same cook in the back that always says hi and remembers me.

One of the best spots around. A must try, some might say. Great salsa, great rice and beans, the nachos and enchiladas are always good too! Definitely call ahead though, otherwise you have to wait in line on the sidewalk which I personally don't like. Lots of others seem not to mind though. Sometimes people double park in weird places to pick up, so be aware of that.

Best. In. Town. Authentic and delicious, this place can't be beat. No wonder there's always a line. People who love Mexican food... Get it.

Tacos here are very good . Chiles we're good and hot! And great flavor . It's a bit far but if I'm near this area I'll definitely stop by. The only thing I dislike is that it's cash only!!! Make sure you take cash but if you don't they have an ATM inside.

The food is okay but unfortunately service here sucks. The first issue is we called at night asking if they were still open and if they were still taking orders and they said yes. We placed the order, drove over to pick it up only the find out they had not made our food and they had already closed up shop for the night...then why take our order and make us drive over ? They could've just said no. We tried eating here again and place an order earlier in the day. They said 20minutes. We showed up and they told us they had only one order in front of us but yet nearly an hour after we placed the order the food still wasn't ready. Again, just be up front with your customers, it's not difficult. I am not a fan of places that are not only rude but can't give you a simple straight answer. and finally, the total amount (which btw this place is cash only) was slightly different than the total I was told over the phone even though I specifically asked to confirm the total before hanging up.

It was a busy Friday. Had tree service guys work on both our front and backyard. They worked up some serious sweat pruning and cutting over ten trees on our property! Dang, watching them made us hungry! (For the record, we did some clean up too after they left) So, we were were hankering for a burrito. Husband suggested coming back to Taqueria la Mexicana. That sounds good to me. We got there and he wanted me to choose the meat. Lengua, gotta have the lengua. I like having something I cannot cook at home (one day I will try though). Burrito is stuffed with a good amount of lengua, refried pinto beans, seasoned Mexican rice, cilantro, onions. side of salsa (be sure to ask for this!) If there is a line, you may be waiting for your order. We were there around 4 pm and waited around 20 minutes for our order to be ready. That is quite OK because the lengua was absolutely the best, so tender, so well seasoned without the saltiness at all. Their blend of seasonings paired with their method of cooking resulted in the most perfect lengua. The price was $8.50 for the burrito. good price for the taste and quality. Cash ONLY so bring some paper money. If you forget, there is an ATM in the waiting area. Parking is street parking as it is in the neighborhood on 4th Street. Learn to parallel park. lol. So, do not delay, treat yourself to an awesome lengua burrito. (or the many other choices on the menu!) Buen provecho!

The best. Cash only, parking is crap and the wait can be up to 30 mins for a burrito. I love their CA burritos and the stop att he bank to get cash, bad parking and wait is well worth it.
