Taqueria Sheko's Brownsville

Restaurant was clean. I was able to get a table quickly and my waiter was attentive. Being that it was my first time at this restaurant I tried quiet a bit of everything. Went in only for tacos de tripa and ended up ordering: 2 tripas tacos, 1 barbacoa taco, 1 bistek taco, 1 carnitas taco, 1 al pastor torta, 1 deshabrada torta, frijoles especiales, and those little cinnamon sugar cookies you get at weddings. Best thing for the price was the tortas!

A real find, especially for an out-of-towner. Absolutely fresh ingredients, prepared perfectly and quickly. Friendly fast service. A HUGE variety of tacos - the most fillings I have ever seen. Everything was neat and clean, but the ambience was a little sparse - easily forgiven when the food and service is perfect. Brownsville people, you are really fortunate!

I really loved the suadero, carnitas, and mollejas dorado. The green cream salsa is the best and the plain tomato. Definitely get beans too. Eating there is much better than takeout.

We recently used Sheko’s catering service for our wedding ceremony, and all we can say it was an extraordinary experience! The team was punctual, very friendly, the tacos were totally on point. Our guests were extremely happy with the whole experience. I highly recommend their service as we’ll continue

I've been here three times. Twice for dine in and once for take out. Sent my husband and kids another 3 times. Not sure if I'll go back. While the food is good. I like the offerings, the ability to order individually and I found everything yummy. However, each time we've dined in I've had the same waitress. Glasses, big pink bow in her hair. Extremely rude and unfriendly. Service is huge in the restaurant community and can make or break a customer's experience. But during both visits our waitress was very unfriendly and made it feel like it was a chore to wait on us. I always give a second chance and since the lady who attended us when we picked up carry out was helpful and genuine, I figured everyone has a bad day. Unfortunately, the second time was worse than the first. I ordered bottled water, and she just stared at me. I repeated it again and she just continued to stare, pursed her lips looking pointedly at me, still not saying a word. It got a little awkward. So I repeated it again a bit better articulated. She did not look confused so it took me a minute to realize she didn't speak(or refused to speak) English. Honestly, how hard is it to say I don't understand? Or en Español por favor? Instead she stared at me as if on some wierd sort of stand off. I have never been disrespectful to people here who don't speak English and it's sad to think this lady will encounter customers who don't speak Spanish and instead of making an effort will try and gas-light them over a meal they are paying good money for into thinking they are the issue. Anyway, I switch to Spanish and ask for a few minutes to look over the menu. She takes off in a bit of a huff and it's over 20 minutes when we realize she hasn't come back. She finally returns and my daughter orders(in English, the horror) she immediately and obviously turns her head away from her, dismisses her and looks pointedly at me. It was as if the very sound of English offended her and caused an instant mental block in her brain. My daughter remembers and repeats in Spanish. If you have an issue with English OR Spanish, you might not want to live and work in a border community. Most of us speak both easily here and realize what a blessing it is. It doesn't stop there. We asked for a few minutes to look at the menu, it seemed to bother her and she didn't return for almost 30minutes. We complimented the food... nothing. We say thank you... nothing. Even my daughter picked up on her attitude. A gentlemen brings part of our order and we never see her again. 40 minutes in and we realize the rest isn't coming and get up to leave. It was still on the ticket and we asked the cashier to remove it. It was so bizarre and the first time I've only tipped 15% I'm my life. The server was that bad. I'd like to return as everyone else seemed to enjoy their jobs and were attentive to their customer's but my luck, I'll get stuck with the same waitress.

This is a fantastic restaurant for street tacos. They accommodated for our 30+ mission trip group, and provided us some really good tacos. The red and green salsas were excellent with the tacos. Atmosphere was fun and friendly. Would eat here again for sure.

Excellent and quick service. Food never disappoints, always fresh and made to order. Perfect for large groups or family dining.

The last few times within the last few months my mom has said the bistek tacos are salty. She's been going several years. They had not been salty. She went again yesterday and again reported they were salty. I'll be going there soon as we always do when we go visit her and I'm hoping they won't be salty because the bistek is my favorite

The food was exceptional, they baked potato was good, the service was great, and the ambiance was super clean and homey and family friendly. This is my new favorite place to get tacos in Brownsville.

Bad , customer service! Went on line to see menu . Called to order the Bandeja Sheko's $39.99 that is showing on their website! When I was placing the order I was going to ask the total owed , they hung up on me. When I went to pick up the order the total came out to 64.95 instead! I spoke to the 2 ladies there & pointed out that they did not give a total price & that on line it shows the 39.99 plus tax would be around 40 something at least. They claimed at first the website was not theirs , then said a manager had set it up& that they had no access to change the prices. Also they said they have no time to give prices to the customers. They said those prices are from 5 yrs . You would think they would have done the changes since then! They had an attitude & rude ! When asked to speak to a manager they said he was not there! I do not recommend this restaurant! They should honor the prices showing on line! Or simply say to people when calling to order that the prices on line are incorrect ! Common courtesy! They're rude & lack customer service!

Food is not that great. Very thin tortillas that fall apart as soon as you try to eat your tacos. Sometimes they forget to include the grilled onions and when they run out, guess what, you arrive home only to find your food without grilled onions . I've given them multiple tries but they still fail to deliver. NEVER AGAIN! The ambiance seems crowded also. Id stick to Calacas Tacos. Food is amazing there. Plus they have amazing "aguas"! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

The time I have been here they been nice and good to me I love the tacos here best tacos in Brownsville so far everything been good

Food was OK but the only problem was the grill onions were cold and the tortilla was a little bit cold they need more waitress and the cooks need to change there gloves when there using the phone I was seated and watching the cook and he didn't change his glove after using the phone

I gave 5 stars for the first few visits, but not anymore. The server was great, but the cashier/manager was one of the rudest staffs I've ever seen. They also charged wrong things on my bill. There was so much miscommunication between the server and the manager. The manager was far worse than the server who was great overall. Lastly, the manager will look at you weird and treat you really bad if you speak English. That was the worst.

The service they provide is excellent Along with their delicious tacos and fresh salsas .

Tacos taste great and love the customer service, don't have any problems here. Always great tacos at Shekos.

El dia de HOY Octubre 17,2022 en la tarde alrededor de las 7,el piso y todo olia a pura choquia...Fue MUY desagradable estar comiendo con ese olor. Los pisos se deben de trapear con un trapeador LIMPIO,con algo de cloro y desinfectantes,es muy desagradable comer asi,los tacos estan ricos (aunque algunas veces no les han salido igual a veces la tortilla huele mal tambien ),pero la mayoria de las veces los tacos estan sabrosos! . Pero el asunto es que en un negocio de comida todo debe oler bien,el lugar debe estar limpio. Espero que no se tome a mal,soy fan de ustedes,pero deben de ponerse las pilas en la limpieza.Mis mejores deseos y gracias!

A must - we visit often because it's delish! U can order large orders of tacos for the family - called Roscas! Also they have Mexican cokes and natural fruit waters!

We heard great things about this taqueria. I ordered 4 tacos tradicionales, one torta estilo Matamoros, and 2 enchiladas potosinas. The tacos were .45 cents today and very small (traditional size they are in Mexico). An average eater would need to eat between 6-8 tacos. The enchiladas were the same small tortilla stuffed with queso and folded over topped with sauce. The torta was quite crispy stuffed with bistek cheese and avocado. The salsas on the table were amazing. My favorite is the tomato salsa. My recommendation is to order a little of everything that piques your interest since the price point is quite low. This is my second all time favorite local spot. This joint has the best frijoles hands down!! Can't wait to try it again!

Tamales and Flautas are definitely something I wouldn't order again. They were just average and not really satisfying. They have a lot of different stuff on the menu that I'm willing to give a try if I ever decide to give the place another shot. Customer service was great from the man that took our order, (don't remember his name). Overall I'm rating this a 3/5 stars, & even though the food wasn't so great, it was edible.

This was our first and last time here. Came in to give this new place a try. We ordered several items off the menu. We were not impressed with what we were served. The flavor of the tacos, tortas and cold tamales was very bland. We also had to keep asking for utensils, napkins, salsa, crema, limes, ughf.

This place has good food but horrible restaurant adequate, and by that I mean kids running around like a gym!!! Like seriously? We go to restaurants to eat not to be annoyed by stupid kids running and screaming so I recommend ordering to go since there is always kids ruining the experience

Wow! Absolutely love this place! Must try at least one of each of their items in their extensive menu. From tortas, tamales, to tacos and flautas, all so good. The concept of small portions is such an amazing idea for when you want to try EVERYTHING in the menu but can't make up your mind

Food is always delicious and well priced, but the service is always lousy. Waiters always mess up the order and they take forever to come check if we need drink refills or anything else. It doesn't matter if it's packed or even if there's only 2 other tables with 3 customers, service is always lousy.
