My wife and I visited Taqueria Tsunami for lunch on Memorial Day. The place was unusually quiet, but I assume that was because people were vacationing. We were able to be seated immediately. Being a slow day, it meant that our server, Alyssa, could check on us more often. She took good care of us.
Once seated, we asked the hostess if she had any recommendations. She recommended the Korean fried cauliflower, and OH MY WORD IT WAS GOOD. Very lightly fried and tossed in a Korean chili sauce, the cauliflower remains just firm enough to make it easy to eat yet split into bites if the piece is too big.
For entrées, I got the noodle salad and my wife got a Trio of Rich man’s taco, short rib taco, and cucumber salad. I added a Baja taco onto her Trio to make it a Quattro. The fish in the Baja is his light and the coupling of the slaw. Makes it a very tasty taco. The Rich man’s and short rib tacos are both rich, but the short rib taco wins out in a taste test, IMO. The only somewhat disappointing dish was the cucumber salad, which didn’t have the same combination of sweet and tangy that we used to. The server believed it was because it was soon after opening and the longer the salad marinates, the better it gets. Something to consider if you go for lunch.
Korean fried cauliflower appetizer, noodle salad, entrée, Quattro. $39.75 before tip.
