I typically avoid leaving negative reviews, but my experience today with a "manager" at Target was extremely disappointing. I attempted to return a product that had stopped working after a month, and unfortunately, I no longer had the original packaging. Before going to the store, I contacted Target customer service, and the representative assured me that the item was under warranty until mid-February and that I could return it without the original packaging. I even took a screenshot of this conversation for reference.
When I arrived at the store, I had the product in a cardboard box and my return receipt ready. After waiting in line, the store representative informed me that they couldn't accept the return without the original packaging. I explained the situation and showed her the message from the online rep. She then called for the manager.
The manager's attitude was immediately confrontational. I explained the situation again and showed her the screenshot of the conversation, but she rudely dismissed me, telling me to take my phone out of her face. I had my phone resting on the product, not in her face. In fact, it couldn't have been any further from her. She wouldn't even look at the message and kept saying get your phone out of my face, until I had it off the counter. I requested that she make a phone call to resolve the issue, but she refused and told me "that's not happenin" to contact online service again before walking away, muttering under her breath.
At this point, I wasn't even upset about the misinformation regarding the return process; I was appalled by how I was treated in front of other customers. I've never experienced such disrespect from a customer service representative before. This incident has made me hesitant to shop at Target in the future; I'll probably turn to Amazon instead.
