Alanya Shipyard
Alanya Shipyard was built by Seljuk Sultan I. Alaeddin Keykubat in 1227-1228. Located near Kızılkule in Alanya, Turkey, the shipyard is the first Seljuk shipyard in the Mediterranean and was completed in one year. The sea-facing facade of the structure, consisting of five arched chambers, is 56.5 meters and its depth is 44 meters. Designed to take maximum advantage of daylight, the entrance gate has an inscription decorated with the sultan's coat of arms and rosettes. The shipyard includes a mosque, a guard room and a well that has become dull over time. With this shipyard, Alaeddin Keykubat earned the title of "sultan of the two seas" and the shipyard symbolized the maritime power of the Seljuks. Today, it serves as a maritime museum.
