"Home to one of the largest remaining swaths of temperate rain forest in the world, dating to the supercontinent Gondwana, the Tarkine Wilderness is a stronghold for rare species including black cockatoos, wedge-tailed eagles, and spotted-tailed quolls. The Western Explorer Road takes you to Corinna, part of which is unsealed and bright white, built from tailings from the nearby silica mine. That hints at the mining settlement to come, where the Corinna Wilderness Experience transformed old prospector huts into modern cabins that run on solar power and rainwater. Hike deeper into the rain forest or to Aboriginal middens along the coast with Tarkine Trails, or visit a 1,540-acre sinkhole before riding down a 360-foot-long tube slide at Tarkine Forest Adventures."
We had the most wonderful experience walking the Tarkine with our guides Tim and Danny. The weather reports for our time there were completely wild. We experienced snow, sleet, hail, rain and high winds. Each day was a lottery and Tim did a lot of planning and replanning every day to ensure we got the most out of our trip. Our walks were beautiful and the scenery stunning. Both Tim and Danny were the perfect guides; friendly, experienced, knowledgeable, thoughtful, relaxed and funny! Nothing seemed to be too much trouble or too much effort for them.
The trip exceeded our expectations!

Terrific walks in this gorgeous Tarkine Wilderness area. Our guides, Tahlia and Bec, were very informative and supportive, for the varying wants and needs of our group. The food and wine was fantastic. The accomodation was fabulous. Unfortunately, our room did not seem to be able to supply a decent hot shower, which was a disappointment, when everything else was so much above our expectations.

I've never ever been there, and I've not even been to Tasmania for too many years, but Google Maps asked me to share my experience (!?) So ... I hear it's very nice ... 🤔
