I stayed at Tarr Farm Inn, and while the setting is undeniably beautiful, I feel the overall experience doesn’t live up to what you’d expect from a property listed as 5 stars on Google (Not as per reviews but as per property type). In reality, it’s much more like a sought-after bed and breakfast rather than a full-service luxury inn.
The location is lovely, quiet, and great for nature lovers. Dinner was good quality and enjoyable, though on the pricier side.
Breakfast, however, was very disappointing. Hilary, the receptionist, came twice to remind us that breakfast would stop being served after 9:45, which felt a little unnecessary. We specifically ordered two vegetarian full English breakfasts, but after 20 minutes we were served plates full of meat. When we explained that we don’t eat meat, the attending staff were apologetic and said the wrong order had been conveyed by Hilary to the kitchen. Unfortunately, we then had to wait another 40 minutes before the correct breakfasts finally arrived. Overall, breakfast service took nearly an hour and left us feeling frustrated.
The rest of the staff were excellent — very polite, attentive, and genuinely helpful.
In summary, Tarr Farm Inn is in a lovely spot and serves decent food, There is no way it's a 5* property. It feels much more like a decent B&B than a luxury hotel.
